Simplified tools and easy to draw. It was convenient and simple. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
3D drawing, which I am not familiar with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The software doesn't work. They released a version that was broken, and I used the free trial of that version, not knowing it was broken. I ran it on a i7, 16GB RAM and RTX30 series (powerful computer) but the application constantly crashed. I lost unsaved work and wasted hours restarting the application, which did cost me a few hundred dollars on billable hours. I sent errors logs, which helped them to identify the issue that they claimed it is now resolved in DraftSight 2022 SP1. Technical support seems to be overseas with broken English and difficulty reading English. After 14 days, they said there is hotfix "DraftSight memory saturation hotfix" that could solve the problem. I asked for a trial license to try the fix but it was declined. Ask pratiksha.dahotre and gayatri.keskar for details.
In summary, they released a broken version, which I helped to fix by providing feedback and error logs. They claimed it is fixed, but I can't test it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It crashes all the time. Consequences are loss of unsaved work and time on restarting and loading software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Autocad Lisp programming can be easily adapted to its interface. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Version to version there can be operational variations that make it hard to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
similar to an older version of ACAD and is easy to use and get up to speed with Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
it seems like an older software and feels like it's missing some current valuable command and tools Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Better Price than AUTOCAD and easier to sign up and maintain Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is harder to obtain help and the lack of tool box offerings Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I've always liked that DraftSight has been a free 2D CAD software to sketch with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I dislike that DraftSight is turning into a subscription based software, it is now losing it's appeal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

In high school we used to work in Auto CAD and it was a great experience but quite a learning curve. First year of college we had Engineer Graphics as part of the curriculum and we were all given a paid version of Draft Sight. The transition went very smoothly, everything you need is there and the software is CAD software. As far as I know, with Draft Sight you can do everything you can with the tool Auto CAD, if not more. There are very small dislikes on my side regarding Draft Sight, the software is designed to be CAD software for technical drawing on the PC and you can do everything that the popular competitors can do but with a smaller price. My one big drawback is the complicated learning curve but that has to do with the type of software and not Draft Sight in particular. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

99.5% of the dwg functions of the leading national brand, it is just a tiny fraction of the cost. The more expensive version does offer additional support and more commands than the lower cost version. So far it has proven to be far more stable than the other 2D only cad software that I use. Overall functionality is greatly improved for 2020 Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I'm one of those advanced users who will occasionally miss that .5% In order to protect the company some command aliases are different, so you have to spend a little time learning it. Plot settings are a little clunky but for the much lower cost it's worth dealing with. *update plot dialog and settings are much improved for 2020 Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
-The interface and command structure is so similar to AutoCAD that adoption is very easy. The learning curve is minimal and the only real differences you see are when you are digging into the background settings like dimensions styles, plotter setup, and display settings.
-Easy to learn and to use even though I only use a small fraction of its capabilities.
-Dimension text edit is a great tool to assign an area to a department such as plumbing or lawn & garden to a selected sequence of retail fixtures.
-The layer isolation tool allows me to quickly edit items on a single layer without interfering with the other drawing components. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
-Cannot move tool bars around to get a fully custom layout.
-Also extend command fails from time to time.
-Setting up a new layer will keep the pen assignment if the layer you are below or have selected.
-We'd found a glitch in editing text boxes with part of the content underlined.. There is a simple work-around though, so it's manageable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
