"I don't know what I would do without DocFetcher"

What do you like best about DocFetcher?

The best thing I like about DocFetcher is I have been able to easily index all the files on my computer. I'm easily able to search for keywords within those files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DocFetcher?

One of the things I disliked about DocFetcher is learning to use the program. I was so used to having everything linked in Google Drive and I had to learn to search in a new way. Once I learned I will never go back to the basic search like google drive offers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is DocFetcher solving and how is that benefiting you?

I work in veterinary medicine and there are times I need to search for something very specific. Let's say I'm searching for all information regarding ringworm. With the keywords DocFetcher will find the exact documents that contains information that contain that word. So it could help me locate how to clean after ringworm contamination, how ringworm is spread, and so on. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"It's fast, accurate and just works. And it's FREE!!"

What do you like best about DocFetcher?

This software will allow you to search the contents files on your hard drives very quickly. You don't even know that it's running, but it's always there when you need it. Here are a few things I like best

* The ability to quickly choose which folders to search in is very useful.

* The daemon app that runs in the background takes no resources at all. But this little program will allow the fastest indexing of any search software.

* The index file size is incredibly very small. About 256 MB for 1 TB worth of data. Amazing.

* Can't beat the cost!! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DocFetcher?

The preview window is in unformulated plain text. The information is there, but it's just enough to verify that you are looking at the correct document before double clicking to open that particular file.

DocFetcher will index your Outlook PST files as well (Not OST files. But this doesn't work very well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering DocFetcher:

DocFetcher is always getting updated, so they may fix the outlook problem very soon and may even incorporate OSTs as well. But until that happens, I would not use DocFetcher to search Outlook email archives. It sometimes locks up the archive in Outlook which you then have to delete the index in DocFetcher. This not a big problem because DocFetcher indexes the information very fast.

I used to use DocFetcher all the time when Windows Search wasn't very good. But Windows 10 has made a big improvement over the years and is now my default search tool. That is, until it corrupts itself. When Windows search corrupted itself after my last Windows update, DocFetcher was ready to take over. And I still use DocFetcher from time to time just to make sure that Windows found everything I was looking for.

DocFetcher is like a good watch. It's dependable, always works when you need it and you don't even know you have it running. An amazing piece of software and I can't believe it's free... Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is DocFetcher solving and how is that benefiting you?

When indexing an Outlook PST datafile, you sometimes get an error message in Outlook about opening an archive that is being indexed by DocFetcher. Removing the index from Docfetcher fixes the problem. And double clicking an email will not open the email in an Outlook window. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about DocFetcher?

The DocFetcher program allows us to perform advanced searches of documents within our pc by means of words, phrases or text strings. It is a free open source program, available in several versions (for Windows, for Linux and portable). You can search in files with different extensions: HTML, PDF, DOC, XLS, PDF, ODT, RTF, VSD, etc. It allows you to filter the document search through different indicators, in an easy and simple way. Another advantage of this program is its support, which is incredible and guides you to any doubt. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DocFetcher?

In order to work, it is necessary to have the Java Runtime Environment program installed on your computer, as DocFetcher uses java.

Just look for documents with the extensions mentioned above, omitting music, video and image files.

In order to manage it correctly it is necessary to have knowledge about the search, but with the daily handling of the program experience is acquired obtaining with it greater benefits. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We handle many .doc, .xls, .pdf, .ppt, .odt files on a daily basis, which we store in several directories and this useful program allows us to search through that amount of files through a keyword or a phrase. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
