## DNSimple Reviews
  ### 1. DNSimple: simple interface, responsive support, and ultra-comfortable automation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julien F. | Ingénieur DevOps, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2026

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

It's been almost a year since I've been using DNSimple's services, and I am extremely satisfied with the overall experience. The team is very responsive, the product works perfectly, and the interface is simple and efficient. But above all, the automation tools provide real comfort for designing and maintaining tools that utilize the services offered by DNSimple.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

Overall, I have no specific criticism to make regarding the features I use, and everything meets my needs well.

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We chose DNSimple primarily for their significant advancement in automation. This allowed us to set up an outsourced solution for managing our DNS zones, which is both highly resilient and easy to maintain on a daily basis.

  ### 2. Reliable DNS for Multi-Tenant SaaS Infrastructure

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carl A. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2025

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

DNSimple handles all our vanity domain DNS management. It is a cornerstone in our deployment pipeline.

Ymir deployments require valid SSL certificates, which are generated in real time during a deployment using DNS validation. DNSimple sits on this critical path. If their API fails, customer deployments fail. In 5+ years, this has never been a problem. Their API handles edge cases gracefully (idempotent upserts, safe deletes) and has proven reliable under production load.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

I've honestly haven't had a single bad experience in the 5+ years I've been a customer.

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We run a multi-tenant serverless hosting platform that provisions vanity subdomains for every customer environment (customer-staging.ymirsites.com). DNSimple solves three core problems:
1. Real-time DNS for SSL validation - AWS Certificate Manager requires DNS validation during deployments. Fast, reliable DNS changes mean faster deployments.
2. Unlimited subdomain scaling - We can provision millions of customer subdomains without domain sharding (avoiding unprofessional patterns like ymirsites-a1.com, ymirsites-a2.com).
3. Simple API integration - Clean REST API with bearer token auth made integration trivial (~150 lines of code). No complex AWS-style request signing.

  ### 3. Exceptionally Reliable and Effortlessly Simple

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 26, 2025

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

Extremely reliable and simple. We haven't had an outtages or any issues with uptime

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

Dashboard needs to show active zones versus all zones

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are primarily using DNS Simple as our DNS management provider (instead of for example cloudflare)

  ### 4. Seamless Domain Management – DNSimple Makes It Effortless!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Antoine M. | Co-founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 11, 2024

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

I absolutely love DNSimple! Their tools made managing my domains incredibly simple and efficient. Setting up everything for my project, Ovet, was a breeze, thanks to their intuitive platform. Whether it’s domain management, DNS configuration, or setting up SSL certificates, DNSimple takes the complexity out of it all. I highly recommend their service for anyone looking to streamline their domain management process. It has significantly reduced the time I spend on DNS tasks and made my work easier!

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

Honestly, I struggle to find anything I dislike about DNSimple. It’s been such a seamless experience that I haven’t run into any issues. If I had to nitpick, perhaps it would be helpful to have more advanced tutorials or tips for optimizing the use of some lesser-known features. But overall, it’s been fantastic for my needs!

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DNSimple is solving the problem of managing domains and DNS configurations in a straightforward, user-friendly way. It simplifies complex tasks like domain registration, SSL certificate management, and DNS settings, which are often tedious or confusing. This has benefited me by saving time and reducing the hassle of managing my domains for Ovet, allowing me to focus more on building the app rather than handling technical overhead. The integration with external services and automation options have been particularly useful for streamlining my workflow.

  ### 5. Exceptionally reliable DNS and great support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew L. | Cofounder, CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 13, 2025

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

DNSimple provides us with an exceptionally reliable dns hosting service that includes things that you can do with dns that you simply can't do elsewhere.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

I don't consider there to be any downsides in using DNSimple

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having advanced programmatic control over our dns is our primary use along with automatic SSL certificates--and they do perfect for this. Support is top notch whether you've think you've found a bug or just have questions.

  ### 6. They paid for my mistakes! 10/10 customer service 100% would recommend

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Samuel L. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 02, 2025

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

I used them for quite some time. Anytime I needed anything, support always emailed same day response. I had to switch due to a marketing company I started using handling this stuff for me. DNS simple actually refunded 3 months because I forgot to cancel... literally couldn't ask for anything more.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

Nothing. They actually helped me save my domain.

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One stop shop

  ### 7. Great and simple to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 20, 2025

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

Great account team. Great and simple to use. Very responsive to feature requests

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

No complaints. Might lack all the features you might need but they are very responsive and open to adding features.

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They are our domain registrar.

  ### 8. The Dream Webapp for Domain Work

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Colin S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2024

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

The simplest, most complete UX for this sort of work that I have ever seen. I wish every hosting company, security company, and other nerd tool I use on the web would look at how things work on DNSimple. I am on the site every other month and all the things I know how to do stay the same even as they make other tools available.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

More hsoting companies should consider working with them. The integration with Heroku is stellar and makes hosting at Heroku an even easier choice.

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Disparate clients (some experts, some not) and different needs for domain management. This web service fulfills all of our needs.

  ### 9. 10 years of DNSimple and it just works

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dragos M. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2024

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

DNSimple just works, I'm a 10yrs old customer and I didn't had any issues with this service. The API and the API docs are awesome and works as expected. It was so great to have a sandbox for the API to test my scripts before moving to production.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

I can't find anything that I disklike about DNSimple

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing DNS provivers and automations

  ### 10. DNSimple just works

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tero V. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2023

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

DNSimple has everything that is needed. They have everyhting from DNS to sertificate management.

I recently started using their Let's Encrypt integration. Usually, updating Let's Encrypt sertificate every other month is a hassle, but DNSimples webhooks and APIs made it a easy.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

It is really hard to come up with downsides. What they do, they do well.

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DNSimple makes sure that all my domains and certificates are renewed. Periodic reminders about expiration come early. I automated the certificate issuance and installation with webhooks and API. That freed my time for other things.

  ### 11. Happy customer for 9+ years

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2023

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

We first learned about DNSimple through a recommendation in the documentation for our hosting provider (Heroku) in 2014, and I'm very glad we did.

DNSimple's customer service is highly responsive, their interface is easy to use, and their prices very reasonable.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

We haven't found a downside to using DNSimple yet.

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One example of how they make it easy to use is how their interface gives well-written, step-by-step instructions for installing an SSL certificate across at least 6 different providers: NGINX, Heroku, Azure, IIS, Apache, and Other

  ### 12. Still happy after all these years

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 12, 2023

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

I've used DNSimple for all my domains, personal and business, for at least 10 years. I know there are now more options out there, but I've had zero reason to even think of looking elsewhere. On the rare occasions I've needed customer service, they've responded quickly and professionally and cheerfully.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

I haven't yet run into a downside. Their name fits.

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Focusing on reliable DNS management and nothing else.

  ### 13. Reliable and easy-to-use Cloud DNS management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew L. | DevOPs Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 07, 2022

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

I really like the ways I am able to automate all things DNS using their API.
From the command-line using Lexicon I can manage and create any DNS records I need.
The service is reliable and geographically disbursed, this helps keep our infrastructure online and maintain resolution even in a network outage.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

At first, DNSimple didnt have the same features of their competitors -- including full DNSSEC support, YubiKey/Security Key 2FA and secondary zones.
However, over the past year DNSimple seems to be making great strides to put their product on par with their competitors and at a fair cost.

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DNSimple is helping us maintain high uptimes and ensure our DNS is able to be resolved throughout the world. Switching from Route53, also helped us reduce costs significantly.

  ### 14. Champion of customer care

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pierre d. | Co-Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 13, 2022

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

- Smoothless transition from existing DNS
- Taking the time to understand our particular business-specific problems
- Ensuring no downtime during migration
- Simple and quick UI
- Reliability
- Speed

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

Nothing really.

Price per domain could be lower, but again, the premium service they offer is well worth those few $.

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DNSimple helped us move to more reliable DNS provider and is someone we can talk to in case of emergency.

There's not many things more critical than a DNS when you're an online company and being able to talk to real human about your issues is priceless!

  ### 15. DNS Simple, it's all in the name

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julia M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2023

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

As the name suggests, the DNS management platform is really easy to use and accessible. In addition to this, the support team is very responsive and super efficient.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

I must admit that there is not much negative to say.

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to manage and setup hundreds of domains for our current clients.

  ### 16. Configuring server-wide DNS template is made simple for our Enterprise Network with DNSimple

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rithika G. | Cloud Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2022

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

DNSimple offers a comprehensive platform to manage web hosting, DNS and mail services through its user-friendly GUI. Within a few steps, we can propagate the request to a web server and establish a virtual host for the system. Since all administration and hosting control panel is maintained in a single platform interface, it's easy to track the cost factors and provide more flexibility to our services.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

Its documentation can add up to its latest feature inclusions. Updated resource & support blogs will further help with the learning curve of its services. All remaining aspects are suitable for our enterprise network management.

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DNSimple has brilliant provisioning for reusable DNS records which can be done through its templates feature. This is helpful for our customer domains as we make use of its templates to perform quick DNS record entries and avoid common typos and other mistakes. We can also utilize the Wildcard option to denote any part of our domain where we do not know the exact placeholders. It effectively ensures that every customer domain is created with all the required DNS records so that there is no need for end-user input. Its administrator dashboard gives us the convenience of performing bulk modifications to all DNS zones on our web servers.

  ### 17. A dependable service with amazing technical support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Valters J. | DevOps Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2022

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

We primarily use the DNS offering by DNSimple, and it has been amazingly stable in our experience.

We use the Node.js API library provided by them for managing our records dynamically and have been happy with the documentation and functionality.

During our years of usage, we have only had to open two support tickets for observed strange behavior - once for geographical synchronization issues and once for record consistency in a single location. Troubleshooting with DNSimple's technical team was a joy in our experience. Discovering the race conditions allowed us to obtain insights and (surprisingly?) made us feel more reassured about the product.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

Although we did experience issues as mentioned earlier, it's hard for me to put it down as a clear negative due to how fast and well they resolved it, and we haven't seen the same issue twice during the years.

We believe linking DNS templates more closely to the actual zone records could be beneficial - so that when you update a template, all the zones are updated. Right now, if you change a template, you need to update the relevant (previously deployed) zones yourself, so that can be a bit of a pain in implementing templating as of now.

And the future roadmap is not publicly available - so when you request a change, you don't have an excellent point of reference where you could track its progress.

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We manage many DNS zones of ours and our customers as part of an automated white-labeling workflow. The API integration library provided allows us to integrate changes smoothly.

  ### 18. It's just that DN simple!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sara Y. | Digital Campaigns Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 02, 2021

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

I like that it effectively imports DNS records and integrates smoothly with the API. As an assistant to content creators, I also like that it meshes well with Wix, Square Space, and Wickr for website development purposes. I admire that DNSimple is fluid with better security compared to previous domain management platforms I have used in the past. In general, it's a safe, secure, and reliable provider.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

As an ops associate, I often assist our nonprofit's digital department with creating and setting up new domains. I do not like that even with their most expensive "so-called" business plan, it's still an added / extra expense to make more than five domains, but I appreciate that they are upfront about that cost with their transparent pricing in the first place.

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There's no requirement to understand complex technological languages and their nuances to use DNSimple efficiently (although it most certainly helps out in the long term). Overall, I never realized how much our company needed to automate our various, numerous domains until DNSimple came along. I recommend the 30-day free trial if you're still unsure about DNSimple being the right tool for you and your business.

  ### 19. Simple and effective

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shuja S. | Chief Technology Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 23, 2022

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

As the name suggests, the DNS management is simple. Ability to add CNAME to apex records, option to redirect, issuing the LetsEncrypt certificates, APIs are good enough for any use case.
Overall top notch service with reasonable pricing.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

Nothing much to dislike, I would have liked the integration with heroku to automatically update the certificates too, currently it only updates the DNS.

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use dnsimple-ruby API client to update the wildcard certificates on heroku.

  ### 20. A human dns provider for developers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Israel F. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2016

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

Clear packages, no hidden costs or fees, annual payment and GREAT (trust me, REALLY GREAT) customer support and an API to automate your domain management.

They incorporated one-click setups for most common use cases so, you might just purchase your domain and be one click away from managing your corporate email and redirecting traffic to your website.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

You need to get a package with certain allowance, so, you might end up on a package which gives you the possibility of having 10 domains when you actually need only 6 or 7. There's no "pay as you go" or "pay per use" package.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSimple:**

Choose your package wisely, have a chat with their Customer Support first, before subscribing.

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have all my domains with DNSimple, email resolution, Secure DNS and multiple sub-domain creation automated. I really love their support

  ### 21. dnsimple review!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Veronica O. | Content Marketing Manager, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2019

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

Buying domains with this platform really is VERY simple. After setting up an account, buying the domains takes only a few seconds. The setup is pretty straightforward and easy to apply as well.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

My company uses a lot of different accounts to manage different clients. The platform gets a bit wonky with that, and the names start overlapping which gets really annoying. trying to click on one client and accidentally clicking another.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSimple:**

If you're using only a few tabs/accounts its great, but have in mind that if you have more (like over 10) the info overlaps and it gets really annoying, as you try to click on one account and end up in another.

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to manage and setup hundreds of domains for our current clients.

  ### 22. Convenient and Simple.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abraham S. | Owner, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 14, 2016

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

Easy to use, from domain registration to DNS registration and service. The service based and custom DNS record template feature is nice.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

I dislike the pricing. However, their service does outweigh the expense for me and my business.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSimple:**

I'd definitely recommend shopping around if their prices aren't what you expected, but it was well worth it for me and my business.

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've experienced a great time savings working with DNSimple to register my domains and in relying on their DNS service. Also, their API has been beneficial to me for automation of certain domain related changes.

  ### 23. Really simple DNS Service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hélio C. | Lead Software Engineer / Software Architect, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 11, 2015

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

I certainly can describe DNSimple as an ultra simple DNS Service full featured with backed DNS configurations for many common applications like Gmail, Tumblr, Blogger, etc. Those "backed configurations" follows the 'next next finish' principle which is very handy.

Also, DNSimple counts with a 'new' record called URL which allow Heroku users uses their CNAMES pointing to domain's root. i.e. foobar.com pointing to foobar.herokuapp.com. So, if you're a Heroku user, I can surely recommend to you move to this service. This is the most important and liked feature in my experience with DNSimple.

DNSimple price is very accessible. Only few dollars/month without domain limit. When you join, there is no raise in price as days go by.

In comparison with Amazon Route 53, DNSimple wins with its simplicity, stable and almost awarded features (like URL DNS type) and fixed price.

If you use VPS, like Linode, you'll have a great improvement from Linode's DNS manager. Without Domain Limits, DNSimple turns a great option for Linode users as well.

For simple users, like bloggers, youtubers, etc, DNSimple will guide through wizards to help you setup your domain and connects it to your service. This way you can have the fastest configuration done than ever.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

There is no analytics panel available. This may deal breaker for some DNS power users.
Also, there is no ping tool to keep your domain available 24/7 based on ping response time (Time to Live).

**Recommendations to others considering DNSimple:**

Fixed Price; Wizards over Manual Configuration; Stable tools; Unlimited Domains.

  ### 24. Easy DNS Configuration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Patrick L. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2016

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

Easily configure DNS settings for your domain. No issues or down time with their servers to date. The web interface is intuitive and responsive.

DNSimple is one of the few providers that allows an ALIAS record for the top-level apex domain name. This means that you can easily host your top level domain with a PAAS such as Heroku.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

Domain name registration yearly pricing is expensive compared to other options that exist.

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using DNSimple for DNS configuration for my domain names. Propagation through DNS servers is relatively quick.

  ### 25. Simply the best DNS host there is

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2016

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

First DNS host to supply ALIAS records, Provides templates for all the important services and has a nice web interface and an iOS application to manage your records on the fly. They also provide a nice clean API. Also out of sheer interest they code in Erlang from reading twitter and the blog.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

Nothing to dislike apart from they have suffered DDoS attacks but all the DNS systems had the same issues but DNSimple were open and blogged and tweeted about the attacks and provided a good teardown review about how they would mitigate this in future.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSimple:**

Just sign up. They are the best out there by a huge distance.

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DNS management. Domain name purchasing.

  ### 26. Pretty Basic domain management tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gopalakrishnan V. | Lead - Product Management, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2016

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

The basic functionality is very easy to use and very novice friendly. I feel very comfortable asking my marketing team to make changes, create subdomains etc. Very good in-app tutorials too.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

Some of the actions that have bigger consequences (like taking down a site if the cname is misspelt or if the alias is unavailable) do not trigger any huge warnings or on screen notifications about possible errors.

**What problems is DNSimple solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pretty basic domain management problems. Its cheap, effective and easy to use.

  ### 27. Simple but slow

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cho Yin Y. | System Administrator, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2016

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

It seems like DNSimple has a REST API that is entirely suitable for developers like me. However, I have not tested it out thoroughly due to this service failing to go live. One of the other things that have attracted me to this service is their free pricing for students. Some of my colleagues that have tested it with me praised its integration to SSL certificates as well, which is worthy to be mentioned here. Its ease of use and the user-friendly UI is also recognised here.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

I initially tried out DNSimple with the Github Student Developer Pack. After having tested it for several weeks, I believe that DNSimple was not the domain management tool that I would like to implement for my domains. I ultimately went with Cloudflare because although it lacked a REST API it did all functions that DNSimple did. DNSimple also does not propagate its changes very fast like Cloudflare does.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSimple:**

DNSimple definitely does its job, and would fit one's most basic requirements. However, do note there are alternatives, which sometimes are cheaper or even free that can be compared to DNSimple.

  ### 28. Painless DNS Management

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thejdeep G. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2016

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

- The Interface is beautiful to look at. And this makes DNS management simple and easy. You can easily transfer and add domains.
- Handling SSL is really good
Buying and handling SSL certificates is easy and straightforward unlike other registrars. This make it an added advantage to use DNSimple.
- Provides a REST API
DNSimple provides a REST API and a excellent choice of client libraries. This makes it easily accessible for programmers of all kind.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

- DNSimple doesn't have an android app. They have an iOS app for Apple users although.
- Help and support provided is a bit low
- Pricing is towards the higher end
- Transferring domains can prove to be a steeper learning curve initially.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSimple:**

DNSimple is my favorite domain name registrar and DNS provider. They have been providing painless DNS management since a few years. Since DNSimple provides a managed DNS provider, the many advantages of this are : simplicity, security and performance. DNSimple also lets you create and manage your own DNS templates to quickly add a group of records to any of your domains.

  ### 29. Simple, powerful DNS – it does what it claims

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

DNSimple, unlike many other DNS providers I've used, provides simple, powerful DNS services with some notable extensions to what DNS normally provides (such as the super, super-useful ALIAS record). Our experiences with DNSimple's support have been equally great to our experiences with the product. Further, their API support (which, to my knowledge, many DNS services do not have), is equally fantastic, despite our limited need for something like that.

DNSimple's ALIAS record support has solved a very real problem for us, and it's the reason we moved to them to begin with – we wanted CNAME-like behaviour on an apex domain (i.e. point a domain.com (without www.) to a Heroku app, rather than an IP). Normally this is a huge, huge headache, but DNSimple made it easy.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

I'm having a hard time coming up with complaints – I've had a few issues where DNSimple's APIs worked a little differently than I'd anticipated, but that's about it. Like any product, I always wish I could pay less, but DNSimple's pricing is pretty darn fair.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSimple:**

DNSimple integrates beautifully with Heroku and has a number of pre-configured record types that walk you through the common configurations for something like Heroku (or many similar systems you might need). Further, their ability to provide ALIAS records are a must if you're aliasing a domain to a Heroku app. There's a reason why this company comes up so frequently in Heroku's documentation. If you're using DNSimple with Heroku, you're probably going to be very happy.

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

I love the simplicity of DNSimple but it is misleading, since it hides a very powerful service.
The ease of configuration using their one-click services, the ability to create templates, the great an cheap SSL service, and my personal favourite, the ALIAS record. I believe DNSimple was one of the first to offer it and makes it possible to point your root domain to an AWS load balancer for example.

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

Nothing to dislike here, I love their service and been using for over 5 years.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSimple:**

You can't go wrong with DNSimple, I've tried many alternatives, but none are so clean and powerful.

  ### 31. Domain management made easy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about DNSimple?**

Ease of use, low price point, makes use of subdomains very easy, flexible, and accessible

**What do you dislike about DNSimple?**

No real complaints - you will pay more buying a domain through them directly but you can buy domains from other sources and still take advantage of dnsimple

**Recommendations to others considering DNSimple:**

Great for companies using and managing subdomains
