"It Just Works!!!!"

What do you like best about DNSFilter?

We are a small MSP and DNSFilter is a core part of our Cyber security offering. Setting it up only take a few minutes and BAM!! All the bad traffic is immediately filtered out. Reports show the stuff that's blocked. From there we're able to see bad traffic and take action from there. If something needs to be whitelisted, it's fast and easy. Mobile devices outside of the office network are easy to manage. Their MSP billing model is inexpensive, scalable, with no commitment.

What do you dislike about DNSFilter?

Honestly, I really haven't found anything. I had a small problem setting up a router and I was able to find help on their website.

Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:

It's created for MSPs with the MSP "pay for what you use" model. No long-term contracts. Very straightforward.

What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?

Obviously, the DNS filtering that occurs is amazing. Being able to quickly apply policies to a specific group or network is very valuable. We're continually surprised at the visibility this gives us into the types of traffic flowing in out of of these networks. DNSFiltering reporting is great.

"Very capable solution getting better all the time."

What do you like best about DNSFilter?

The information in the reports is excellent and allows us to see what has been used and what is being blocked quickly. Setup was very simple and easy, and after a week of minor tweaking it is pretty hands-off.

What do you dislike about DNSFilter?

The interface is a little rough around the edges and tool deployment could be made much more manageable and easier to deploy through scripting and automation. From time to time they push updates that break things so

Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:

It is a very cost-effective solution, it seems like it is still in its infancy but the company is actively working to improve it.

What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?

Mainly we use it as part of a required packaged security suite to prevent client's employees from going to websites we don't want; it could be because they are inappropriate for a work environment, pose a security risk. The secondary advantage is that it provides some protection from hacking and other security threats.

"My favorite DNS protection service."

What do you like best about DNSFilter?

I really like the interface and how easy the deployment is. I've used Umbrella before it was acquired by Cisco as well as Webroot's DNS security, but DNS filter is by far my favorite. The pricing is really nice and I haven't had any issues with the product and it's been over a year. I had some issues with other providers affecting VPN's, but so far DNS filter hasn't affected our VPNs (SonicWALL and Azure Always on VPN).

What do you dislike about DNSFilter?

I don't have any real dislikes, but if they could update their data exporter to allow generic syslog that would be great.

Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:

I've tried the competition, DNS filter is better in every way you will not regret choosing them.

What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?

DNSFilter is protecting all of our DNS queries as well as ensuring categories I have blocked are not accessed.

"A+ for DNSFilter"

What do you like best about DNSFilter?

Very clean and intuitive UI. They even took a multi-tenant approach for MSPs including global policies and a customizable gif-friendly block page. Implementation was a breeze too.

What do you dislike about DNSFilter?

I can't think of anything, they've hit all the marks for us. I was going to suggest SSO but just confirmed they have that too! It would be nice to have schedulable emailed reports that could be directed to our client point of contact or our QBR reports bin.

Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:

Don't waste your time with the competition or at least try DNSFilter first. I tried Webtitan first as they were what my distributor had available and was disappointed in so many ways. Umbrella is just another Cisco product with Cisco-style billing so expect to overpay for what you get.

What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?

We rely heavily on the protection the roaming clients provide. With so many remote users we know they're covered where they are. Also getting a broad view accross our client base of the types of traffic our endpoints generate, it is easy to identify problematic users or devices for further investigation.
