DisasterLAN Overview

What is DisasterLAN?

DisasterLAN (DLAN) is a secure, web-based, mobile friendly emergency management system that provides tools for shared situational awareness, workflow-based information management, and real-time communication to help your team prepare for, respond to, and report on issues. With DLAN in your toolbox, you will be properly prepared to manage daily operations, emergencies, and everything in-between. DLAN simplifies task, mission, and resource management. It allows critical information to be quickly shared through secure interoperable communication features, which are included at no extra charge. DLAN also includes a full suite of reporting features to allow for easy after-action reporting. Since its release in 2002, DLAN has been used internationally at all divisions of government, as well as in private-sector corporations. Product Description

DisasterLAN (DLAN) emergency management software provides everything your team needs to prepare for, respond to, and report on issues - anytime, anywhere, from any device all in one easy to use system.

How do you position yourself against your competitors?

One of DLAN’s greatest strengths is that it provides one unified solution rather than a collection of separate tools. This eliminates duplicate data entry, simplifies the user experience, and improves situational awareness.

Unlike other solutions, DLAN is interoperable by design; it follows NIEM and NIST guidelines with common protocols and standards for meaningful information exchange available without requiring external servers or third-party plug-ins.

Since 2002, DLAN has been designed and developed in house by BCG. Our team also has extensive experience in emergency management. Our familiarity with both the software and the environment our clients work in makes us better able to develop, implement, train on, and support our systems.

With over 35 years of experience, BCG is a long-standing engineering firm with a history of excellent customer service and cutting-edge products. BCG’s focus on developing customer relationships, not selling products sets us apart from our competitors.

What do you like best about DisasterLAN?

DLAN is a very user-friendly intuitive program which supports the emergency management information management goals of my workplace. DLAN's modules have a Microsoft Office-like sense to them which greatly accelerates the use of the program by new staff Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DisasterLAN?

The mapping capability presently used within my workplace does not make the best use of the DLAN information datasets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is DisasterLAN solving and how is that benefiting you?

DLAN and a number of its modules are presently used to assimilate, correlate and fuse information on potential or emergency hazards or incidents within the Province of Alberta. What do you like best about DisasterLAN?

FutureShield has been involved in re-selling EOC software since 2006. We have worked with many solutions and settled on DLAN to support the requirements of a BC based university and then again for the PanAM and Parapan Games in 2015. From there, we haven't looked back. DLAN is a comprehensive web-based solution (either cloud-based or installed at client sites) with a mobile responsive interface allowing it to be used in a physical or virtual EOC. We have had many Canadian organizations choose DLAN and they are very happy with the IMS/ICS forms, Sitrep and IAP automation, logs, ticket-based incident management, single-button reporting as well as flexible dashboards. For those looking to replace white boards, paper forms, and out-dated and less flexible solutions in the EOC, DLAN is a great choice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DisasterLAN?

FutureShield does not have any negative comments to make for DLAN. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Our clients have noted many efficiency improvements in the management of incidents, events, and disasters through the use of the DLAN platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Each year our event takes over a dozen communities across three counties. We host approximately 10,000 riders and volunteers. DLAN manages our incident ticketing from first aid, to repairs, to emergency response. Our call center manages hundreds of calls for assistance over hundreds of miles and a dozen routes. Call tickets are instantly routed to the appropriate response team allowing the issue to be resolved immediately. DLAN provides our event managers (in multiple locations) with an immediate situational awareness of the entire event. The record keeping has allowed us to improve our event action plan each year by providing a log of calls and response actions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
