The automated features for the general ledger are really helpful. It predetermines some of the categories that accounting and transactions should be assigned to, making it easier and faster for me to approve them. It also allows an easier setup for bill payments, so vendors and credit cards get paid faster. I don't have to review everything since it's all kept inside the software, and I know exactly what's going on at any point in time. This way, I get more accurate financials faster. **What do you dislike about Digits?** I think some of the dashboard features could be improved and some of the onboarding features could be improved with guides that get you through the system faster. Also, some of the resources and support for how to use the software could be expanded and improved. **What problems is Digits solving and how is that benefiting you?** I find Digits speeds up financial updates, document uploads, and bill payments, simplifying in-house accounting. It automates the general ledger, eases bill payment setups, and provides faster, more accurate financials without needing constant reviews. ### 2. I had my entire financial picture in less than an hour. Honestly, I couldn't believe it. I love that it's user-friendly, easy to use, and has an intuitive user interface. I've tried so many other programs and nothing worked as smoothly and easily as Digits. I highly recommend it! Plus, the customer support is excellent - you're working with a real person on the other side of your email. **What do you dislike about Digits?** I've had almost no issues at all - the only problem I've run into is that Paypal has a setting that's preventing me from setting up the automatic connection to Digits. But every other platform I used linked instantly, and I know this is an issue that they're working on with Paypal. Connecting my bank accounts and Gusto resulted in an incredibly easy setup, with the configuration being 95% complete without any manual input. This level of automation in categorizing and managing financial data allows me to automate bookkeeping and reconciliation tasks almost entirely, which is a huge time saver. Moving financial management tasks such as producing financial statements and planning internally to Digits has been seamless. The fact that the reporting on Digits looks better than what I had manually managed in QuickBooks Online is impressive. Despite being new, Digits offers a user experience that is 10x better than any other accounting software I’ve used over my ten years of managing operations for high-growth startups. **What do you dislike about Digits?** I recognize there are small user experience tweaks needed as Digits evolves. However, these are minor and don't impact its overall value. It's still a significantly better user experience compared to other accounting software I've used. **What problems is Digits solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Digits to automate bookkeeping and reconciliation, providing a central source for financial truth. It simplifies financial statements, planning, and bill payment, with high accuracy in categorization and effortless setup, enhancing my management of accounting over Quickbooks Online. ### 4. Huge improvement over Quickbooks **Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2024 **What do you like best about Digits?** My motivation for seeking out Digits was how painfully slow Quickbooks was to work in. Digits sits on top of my existing Quickbooks instance which my book keeper manages. But now I can check in on numbers in a rapid quick dashboard. The related benefit is being able to easily see trends, since the dashboard is largely focused on charts and insights on changes period over period. Although you don't have the ability to download reports, there isn't as much need to do so because you can answer most business questions by clicking in to drill down with e.g. an expense category. Best of all, you can drill all the way down to the specific transaction level to see what' sgoing on. The 'management reports' are highly polished and I feel proud showing them to my clients, as opposed to the barebones quickbooks reports. I honestly haven't played around much with any AI-related intelligence since I'm pretty in the weeds, but I imagine it could be useful. **What do you dislike about Digits?** Only downside is not being able to export reports, but this tool is really designed for an executive who fully trusts the underlying book keeping and wants to understand the pulse of the business. You can still get as much granularity as you want, but if you're focused on double checking your book keepers work you'll have to do that in QBO. **Recommendations to others considering Digits:** If you value your time and you are using Quickbooks to understand your business, you should really consider to get Digits. I think of it as paying 50% more for my underlying QBO and getting an experience that is orders of magnitued better. **What problems is Digits solving and how is that benefiting you?** Monitoring my Quickbooks financials is so much faster & easier in Digits. **Official Response from Dakota Monk:** > Thank you so much for your thorough and thoughtful review! There are two ways to go about this -- The first is on a report page, head to the section you'd like to export (ie. Cash Flow) and click the "..." in the upper right corner. You'll be presented with an export function! OR if you'd like to save the whole report – head to a report page, hit file then select print (or use the shortcut cmd+p) and you have the option to save the report as PDF. As for tasks like double checking your bookkeepers work, you're right – you can use QBO to do this. I did want to let you know that you can actually use Digits to accomplish the same result. Meaning you can access the transaction level and bookkeeping data directly within Digits. On top of that, you are able to invite your accountant directly into Digits and collaborate with them there as well! To look at the granular details head to the "Analysis" page → then head to the relevant category or transaction and from there you will see the details, how it's been accounted for, etc. As for inviting your accountant to Digits – head to settings > team members > then invite the appropriate person to work with you in Digits! This will allow you to tag them into comments on transactions, reports, etc. wherever you might have questions or looking for additional context.
