What do you like best about FogBugz?

FogBugz is easy to use and great for project management. I like it because it allows me to follow the changes that are taking place in the development of our software, to have a better perception. The best thing is that since FogBugz is online, we can access it from anywhere and synchronize projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about FogBugz?

I like that I can show a new employee how to use Fogbugz in about 10 minutes. This software is super powerful in its simplicity. Our customer service team uses it to onboard new customers and open tickets. Project management uses it to assign bugs to developers and then to QA. It integrates with Git, so we can look up an old bug and immediately find the Git commit that is associated with it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FogBugz?

I enjoy using the software, although I find that developers who are used to using Atlassian products find it lacking. Also, I am concerned that since it has been rebranded as Manuscript (about a year ago), it doesn't seem to receive as much attention. I'm noticing that this G2 page itself has not been updated to Manuscript... so I'm a bit worried that this software is not being maintained--but I'm not seeing that in the software itself, just noticing a steep downturn in communication and marketing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering FogBugz:

This is a great system for small businesses. It's simple to set up and use. I helps organize processes and workflows. It's very easy to learn--which saves valuable time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is FogBugz solving and how is that benefiting you?

It's a great ticketing system and helps Customer Service communicate with Development. It's super easy to set up and use. It's been very reliable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about FogBugz?

I really like the UI and linking between cases, the tracking becomes easy. We have also integrated this with test rail so yes integration works well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FogBugz?

Sometimes it acts slow and the other problems I have faced is working of filters. The results given by filters are not very accurate sometimes. On the list view, it shows filtered by X whereas when you open the ticket the status is something else. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering FogBugz:

It's an easy to use tool which can be integrated with other tools so yes you can go for it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is FogBugz solving and how is that benefiting you?

Tracking of work items become easy, so nothing is missed and collaboration between teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about FogBugz?

Fogbugz provided a great project management 'social network' for our company in its early days. Users on the platform ranged all over the company, from junior to executives regardless of their function. Fogbugz allowed us to track and classify tickets based on our needs (from feature requests to roof-on-fire problems) , and keep relevant stories going for future updates or tickets. Notifications and updates from Fogbugz were highly configurable, and FogBugz also allowed integration with code management software when necessary.

Notifications and daily digests of happenings around the company were helpful in understanding the day-to-day at a glance, which can be helpful for product managers or other oversight. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FogBugz?

The layout is not very well done, it wastes a lot of space that could be used for other things or data points. Sometimes the sorting of tickets and projects got a little messy depending on how many active categories were present. There could be more integrations with other productivity software as well.

Some configurations and settings were difficult to setup for end-users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering FogBugz:

I would suggest FogBugz for any company that needs a to-the-point solution for tracking tickets that allows product and engineering teams to focus on their tasks, while giving other teams visibility into what's being completed, how it's being completed, and what priorities have been set. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is FogBugz solving and how is that benefiting you?

Tracking product updates, bug fixes, requests, etc; across the organization and keeping employees informed of all necessary and related items, as well as assisting product/engineering teams with prioritization and resource allocation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about FogBugz?

It gets the job done. I like the ability to sort emails that come in to customized categories. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FogBugz?

It's functional, but it's not the most aesthetic design. There are some things that could be improved to make it more organized. We ended up using FogBugz for most of our work but tracking it on Workfront since that better allowed us to organize it the way we wanted to have it organized. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is FogBugz solving and how is that benefiting you?

It enables our app support team to better work together to address people's feedback. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about FogBugz?

Easily setup and manage Mercurial based-code repositories. Easy to setup mercurial clients (TortoiseHg) to push and pull to Kiln.

Web-based file and changeset diff-views allow code to be quickly browsed and reviewed.

Built in web-hooks for Fogbugz and Pivotal Tracker (we use both of these for issue/bug tracking) allow commit messages to auto-post to project management systems.

Although we don't utilize it fully, the Code Review system provides an easy way for developers to comment on commits and changesets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FogBugz?

Not really a deal breaker, but Kiln does not offer webhooks for some of the modern software development management tools such as JIRA. It may be because of the version we are using (v2.9.61.0) which is fairly outdated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is FogBugz solving and how is that benefiting you?

Our main use is to utilize Kiln as our internal central code repository. We have a number of repos and sub-repos to host various business application code bases.

We also rely heavily on Kiln's built in webhooks to post commits to our software development PM tools (Fogbugz & PivotalTracker). This has provided the ability to quick associate and review actual the code changes made for specific cases / user stories. In addition, developers do not have to duplicate as much documentation (assuming they write good commit messages).

On less frequent occasion, we utilize Kiln's code review system for handling reviews for smaller changes. For larger changes we still have full one-on-one or group peer reviews. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about FogBugz?

The powerful tools within Kiln; and the ability to oversee massive projects, and the detailed tools to investigate changesets and history are some of the best features.

But Kiln's cross-compatibility with FogBugz and Trello are absolutely amazing, and probably the best feature; it helps to tie together the project management and client communication sides of our version control. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FogBugz?

Kiln's user interface often seems a bit dated to me, and sometimes it can be difficult to compare two particular changesets if any two specific changes need to be compared, you usually have to track down the revision ID. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering FogBugz:

Kiln is very useful, and effective in what it aims to achieve; even better if you already use Trello or FogBugz (if you do not, please investigate those products in addition to Kiln)

Kiln is quite easy to use; it is very effective for team collaboration, and the repository and branch management is easy to visualize with the web interface and branch visualization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is FogBugz solving and how is that benefiting you?

Kiln is absolutely essential to our business.

We have massive projects, which requires us to sometimes come back to projects that have not been touched for months; or to investigate bugs caused by changes made months ago.

Kiln's tools allow us to crawl through every change, to compare many changesets, and to easily view the version history of a file over multiple changes.

What's more, the ability to see the changes of some binary files, such as images, has proven very useful in various design changes; especially when the commit messages have been vague. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
