Descope has been an ideal fit for Aptly’s identity and access management. Its login flows builder made implementation flexible and smooth, allowing us to integrate SSO, SCIM, and directory sync without heavy engineering effort. The flexibility to support multiple authentication methods (passwordless, social, MFA, etc.) ensures that our clients have the capabilites that enterprise customers expect. Additionally, Descope’s team has been highly responsive and supportive, making the implementation a very good experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There’s little to dislike but if I had to point out one area for improvement, it would be ensuring all documentation is up to date (understabdably difficult when featue release quickly) and expanding documentation with more advanced implementation examples. Once configured, this is a superpower, especially for a small startup.
We implemented it to comply with one login requirement, and all of a sudden, we found plenty of other ways to take advantage of it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Coming from virtually no experience or knowledge on the subject, it was a pain to really understand all of its aspects, and since our setup is quite unique, we had to spend a lot of time making it work.
The support team has gone out of their way to help us. At one point, three team members were consulting with us, and one of them continually followed up until we reached success. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Having been a customer identity specialist for years, I knew I wanted a solution to handle the authentication for my new application. I previously worked for a leading company in the space, but I couldn't justify their price point of several dollars per user just for authentication (there are so many other costs that go into building, hosting and maintaining an application). However, I wasn't willing to compromise on quality just to save money, so I explored all of the competitors I was familiar with before selecting Descope.
Descope was easiest to use, had the features I needed and made it easy to do everything from setting up different user flows, to creating different development environments. Plus, as we scale their price point is appropriate and doesn't require ridiculous negotiations to get to a reasonable dollar amount for the authentication portion of the application . I'd love to see Descope continue to expand the pre-built integrations they have, but this is something I can manage around by working with the APIs of the apps myself while Descope continues to expand. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Have a best-practice, best-of-breed AuthN/AuthZ platform for your product is just a non-negotiable in 2024. To do this in a way that also stays current with the current threat landscape is difficult to do if this specific area is not your core competency. Descope has allowed us to achieve this bar with a surprisingly simple integration effort. No, rolling your own solution here is not a good idea or faster.....stop thinking about it.....choose Descope. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I've had hands-on experience with Descope in two organizations now and I have not encountered an issue that was not addressed by their team or roadmap. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It's incredibly easy to use, requires less than 1 day to setup, and has had great reliability across our applications. I never thought that auth would be this easy to setup. Drag and drop database sync, sign up flows, etc. have been impeccable for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The UI could use some improvement, and their documentation is great but takes an hour to get used to. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

+ The Go SDK is amazing, and highly testable. Very easy to get started with Flows. Can implement things in minutes.
+ Documentation is comprehensive and detailed
+ Super responsive team on Slack, and the AI bot is helpful to get answers
+ Much simpler to use than alternatives (like rolling your own auth or Amazon Cognito)
+ Platform has been extremely reliable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are so many features and updates released that it's hard to find time to play around with them! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Descope is a tool that i chose to build around all our authentication-related flows, I like the following:
1. User friendly SDK's
2. Very responsive team
3. Very reliable product
4. Lots of documentation to begin with
5. Startup program Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
1. Some bugs might take a while to be solved Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It was super easy to implement descope both in client and in server to create a multi tenant based system. The team/community was really available for questions! SLA is very fast and we barely encounter any technical issues. So far we have no effects scaling our product using the descope integration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's hard to say.... If you want a certain level of customization it might be better to use their api then the sdk. The sdk has a large amount of capablilties though. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Integrating with Descope has been one of the smoothest experiences I've had with tech products - easy to implement and use.
Building and maintaining authentication yourself is dangerous and expensive. We feel safe knowing our authentication is built by identity experts, and our users benefit in all aspects: user experience, security, and capabilities.
As a customer, the journey with Descope is great. From smooth onboarding to navigating challenges, their customer success team holds your hand through the migration, ultimately enhancing our authentication offering with passwordless MFA to meet our customers' needs. If I had to pick one area for improvement, it would be the level of customization for the login dialog. However, we managed to solve this with their quick and helpful support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Descope is one of the most developer friendly services I've personally worked with in the last couple years. Since I first started working with Descope, they released a lot of new features as well as improved existing ones which means they're constantly making an effort to provide the best product possible. Pricing might be steep for some projects so this is probably not a one size fits all solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
