I can monitor every stop the driver makes while transporting my freight and respond quickly to potential risks, such as staying in the same location for too long or losing tracking entirely. It's an incredibly useful tool that keeps everything under control and ensures smooth operations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One drawback of Descartes MacroPoint is that the information updates aren't always consistent, and the app sometimes doesn't refresh in real-time. A useful improvement would be adding a "location request" button, allowing the driver to send their exact location at that moment, eliminating the need for manual calls. Macropoint is the tried and true tracking for us. We know that when we partner with Macropoint in tracking our loads that it is going to be fast and accurate. The support we get from our Customer Success agents is top class! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There's not much to dislike, the platform is simple and easy to maneuver once you get to know how to use it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As the IT director at my company, nothing stresses me out more than dealing with software companies that have transactional models. They will help me for a short time, then they start charging me more money and make things more difficult for us to resolve issues. Macropoint does not do this. They have many easy to use portals for us online and continue to reach out to us to make sure that our team is running as effectively as possible. It seemlessly integrates with our TMS system and we have implemented it on every single load in our system. Eimy, Mathew, and Sandra have been incessantly helpful and we use all of the features daily.
UPDATED REVIEW: Nearly a year later, we are still in love with Descartes and their support. They reach out to us to give us additional benefit. Within the past year, they helped us save money on our volume of pings, as well as integrate us with ELD connections with our carriers. This has streamlined a lot of tracking processes for us and has only benefitted us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I do not have any serious issues with Macropoint. I think the hardest part its getting carriers to use it every single time and it is hard to get the compliance levels up. Typically the carriers cause most of the errors.
UPDATED REVIEW: After another year or so of using Descarted/Macropoint, there are not many additional cons I would mention. One thing that can be a pain for us is understanding whether an issue is related to carrier settings or our settings, and what is the best resolution to get it tracking again. I like the fact that it's so user friendly, as well as the accuracy of data it gives us. Outside of occasional user error, I don't run across many issues at all with the product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
To be honest, there's nothing that comes to mind that I don't like about it. As long as we set everything up correctly on the front end, it seems to work exactly as it's intended. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I found the automatic updates and frequent pings to be the most helpful. Along with the clean and easy to use layout, MacroPoint is a tool I use multiple times a day to help with smooth operations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only issue I have found it on round trip loads. MacroPoint will mark the load picked up and delivered once they leave the pick up location. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

allows a free for the driver, way to track a shipment over the phone for driver tracking customer requirements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The verification code sometimes does not come through causing a delay for driver setup. Some phone types are not compatiable, Sometimes tracking will auto complete even though shipment not delivered. Tracking somtimes based on service goes in and out and not the most reliable. Does not allow driver to add photographs or any documents into the app for pickup or delivery to send to customer like other apps allow. Does not generate invoices or any other documentation such as loading or delivery paperwork. Does not allow all language types to enable non english drivers simple setup instructions. The reliability and consistency across hundreds of daily transactions makes our jobs much easier on a day to day basis. The setup is easy through our internal TMS and it's relatively easy for drivers to set up on their phones. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It would be nice to have a push button to request a current update instead of waiting for the scheduled intervals. There are some areas of the country that do not track as consistently, but those are in the minority of cases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

To be able to see in real time my uploads, the different time options for updates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes it has a small glitch that even if the driver accepts the load, it never exits the “Waiting for update” cycle. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Fast and accurate tracking with numerous options for tracking land-based loads with detailed locations, accurate arrival times, multiple load tracking that makes daily workflow feel likea breeze. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Slower PC-s have a problem in freezing, map sometimes goes blank after refreshing a load, after changing the driver number sometimes it dosen`t want to track so you need to recreate the whole load. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I like best about Descartes MacroPoint is that is color codes your loads based on their ETA's to pick and deliver. I enjoy the times being added from Aljex to Macropoint seemlessly and I like the fact you can integrate your carriers to be able to track with their ELD's instead of by phone number. I use MacroPoint daily in my operations and it makes it easy to use. Customer service is always replying and handling the issues we have, they are very timely and efficient with their responses. I like how easy it is to integrate my carriers into MacroPoint and how easy it is to implement into my daily operations as it takes less than 5 minutes for a carrier to get integrated. What I dislike about Descartes MacroPoint is that the windows on Aljex do not transfer over to MacroPoint which causes some headaches and inaccurancy when tracking loads as we need to ensure windows are set up correctly to be able to get accurate information. Sometimes the pings on the maps do not display accurately which causes issues for my team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
