Datarails is an FP&A team's dream. The tool makes pulling in financial infomration so easy. It has extremely enhanaced our workstream. The drill down function is also incredible. Anytime there is a question into a certain GL account, it is extremely easy to pull the detailed list of all items adding up to those accounts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
With larger files, the need to keep calculations on manual is a must sometimes so having the flip calculations to automatic does set me back a bit. I have found workaround to this issue and that being my only complaint, it is very minor! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I have a very heavy excel data intense role, which causes great frustration due to excel freezing. Datarails however has stopped this stress, and all the heavy datasets are stored on Datarails and their formulas are used to pull this data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We have several QuickBooks accounts with a holding company. Datarails has made consolidation for financial report outs efficient with ease. QuickBooks lacks categorical break down for job costing for contractors. Datarails has allowed for a clearer picture for margin analysis at a Labor, Purchase Services, Materials and Equipment level. Datarails is a flexible tool that lets me pull in data from disparate sources and construct easy-to-understand charts/graphs/data visualizations to quickly and easily communicate important findings with my team. I can schedule reports to be sent out at regular intervals and limit who sees what data. Best of all, Datarails has continued to support my implementation with expert assistance helping me to replicate my previous KPI package within the Datarails environment. When I first starting using Datarails, there was a fairly steep learning curve. However, I've had expert assistance from the Datarails team throughout my onboarding from Datarails experts who have helped me accomplish my goals. At times, we have run into system limitations but those have become future improvements on the Datarails roadmap, such as the recently released year-over-year comparison option. And while my learning curve was steep, I've seen recent updates that have made the system more user-friendly so I suspect future newbies will have an easier time getting fully up to speed. I like that you can create your own reports in Excel and can easily refresh it to change to any filter of your choice. It's espesically useful when you want on Excel file where you can see the same report for different portfolios in your company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The refresh time on the Dashboards when you import from Excel takes a longer time to load than the web dashboards. The web dashboards load almost instantly, but the dashboards that you import from Excel takes longer to refresh, which can be an issue when you are presenting and want to quickly go through different filters. Integrating with our accounting and data systems has allowed us to build out our reporting package with far fewer tabs, giving me time back during month close to spend on analyzing the results and other KPIs. The report builder formats and layouts are a bit basic, as well as customised formulas. If you have grouped up a few of the dimensions, the customised formulas require that you calculate pulling each dimension rather than just the parent. You can't calculate at different levels that roll up into each other, which means you have to adjust the formula each time another account code gets added.

Due to the flexibility to achieve pretty much most of the key figures from the ERP, the ability to obtain what you are after is limited to you knowledge.

Datarails has been exteremely helpful in making our reporting and budgeting process dynamic and efficient. Gone are the days of having to manually download from various databases and edit separate files on a monthly basis. I love the dashboard views and flexbility. GIves fp&a and our sales team direct insight to our business that the did not have previoulsy.
I have to mention the customer service representative, Conor Barnett as well. He was a total game changer in getting us setup in the system, trained and thinking strategically to setup our environemnt for future success. Conor always had availbility when we needed him and never left us hanging on any issues we ran into. One area of improvement specially for us would be the drill down capabilites when dealing with a large and granular dataset and having the ability to pre select drill down parameters or fields would be a great option if it could be added. The good news is Conor Barnett was able to put us in touch with the development team and they were willing to hear our pain points and are currently looking into development solutoins to help us with our drill down capabilties.
