## DataGrail Reviews
  ### 1. Rich Integrations and Automated Data Discovery Made Easy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sports | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 01, 2026

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

Datagrails offers a very rich integration network that allows us to automate our data discovery across our range of martech tooling and data warehousing. What took us hours to complete through manual personal identifier queries is now a fully automated process. Also the user interface is very simple to use and they offer great documentation to supplement their onboarding support calls.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

We ran into a few API integration errors during our onboarding that had to be investigated by their support team, which delayed the onboarding process by a few weeks. Luckily they were quick to respond and provide instructions to get our systems connected in a timely manner.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As part of a larger organization with multiple franchises, we receive data discovery and deletion requests weekly. Our hit rate historically in our systems finding the users in question was very low, but it was an extremely time-dependent task that required collaboration across marketing, sales, business intelligence and IT. We no longer have to go through that process and can spot check more infrequently for completion.

  ### 2. Excellent Consent Management and Customizable Banner UI

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civic & Social Organization | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2026

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

The Consent Management section is excellent. It gives us much better control over cookies, tracking services, and compliance across multiple policies and regulations. As consent requirements continue to expand, DataGrail helps us stay ahead of the curve. The Vera AI Rule Suggestions feature for unassigned cookies is also a huge time-saver. On top of that, the banner UI includes complete CSS documentation, making it easier to customize, keep consistent, and maintain over time.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

The only suggestion I have is to improve the graphical display for the consent banner metrics. That said, they do provide very detailed TSV files for download, so you can analyze the data in Excel easily.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Better compliance to consent for state and international regulations.

  ### 3. Exceptional Support and a True Partnership with DataGrail

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Fund-Raising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2026

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

The best thing about DataGrail is their support and responsiveness. The team is highly receptive to feedback, collaborates on new integrations, and incorporates our suggestions into their roadmap. It feels like a true partnership, and we can rely on them to resolve issues quickly.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

Some product features feel a bit clunky. For example, data subject requests can’t be processed in bulk. Additionally, there’s no clear notification when a request encounters errors, unlike integration disconnects, which do trigger alerts. This means issues are often only discovered by manually checking requests, sometimes close to deadlines.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DataGrail has significantly improved how we manage data subject requests, making the process far less manual and much more comprehensive than before.

  ### 4. Responsive Team and Smooth, Supportive Onboarding

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 06, 2026

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

What stood out to me most was the team’s responsiveness. During onboarding, I felt genuinely supported and was guided through each step one at a time, which made the whole process easy to follow. Overall, I really feel like a valued customer.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

So far, I haven’t found anything I dislike about DataGrail Consent Management.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We’re trying to be in alignment with all the data privacy laws that are coming online, but we’re doing it with a small team and limited resources. DataGrail is removing the manual tasks from our team's plate, so we can be more efficient with our time and resources..

  ### 5. Excellent tool to use and fantastic support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melissa A. | Privacy Program Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

DataGrail has proven to be a valuable asset for our team, providing a welcome change after moving away from our previous privacy tool. We are looking forward to building out our data map within the tool, streamlining our processes and automating specific workflows.

The support team has been outstanding, working closely with us to answer our questions and make sure we fully understand each step of the implementation. Many teams across our organization are eager to use this tool for their own projects, and its intuitive navigation makes it easy for everyone to quickly find the information they need.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

As we are validating the information DataGrail is surfacing, it would be great to have more flexibility to customize specific labels. The ability to customize certain features within the tool would be extremely valuable for our team's unique use cases.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Establishing a regularly updated data map, automating our DSR process and hosting our consent management platform.

  ### 6. Seamless Automation, Highly Efficient

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Caroline R. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2026

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

I use DataGrail for privacy integration across multiple platforms. It helped automate my data deletion process. The automation aspect was easy to work with and created a seamless transition from being manual to automated. It gave me time back at the start of my day and was very efficient. The initial setup was pretty easy. I've found they have been accommodating to all my requests.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

nothing

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use DataGrail to automate my data deletion process, which gave me time back at the start of my day. It was easy to work with, making the transition from manual to automated seamless and efficient.

  ### 7. Very easy to use, once past the initial integration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ryan P. | Senior Web and Mobile Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 25, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

The consent management system is highly automated and simple to personalize. I found it straightforward to modify the default messaging to align with our legal team's requirements. One feature I appreciated was the ability to preview changes behind a test flag, ensuring updates aren't immediately visible to all users. Additionally, their support team has been very responsive.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

The consent management feature is still quite new, and we experienced some initial growing pains. Some pages were broken, which may have been caused by bad data or possibly by some front-end code that DataGrail was running. On the positive side, they managed to resolve these issues fairly quickly. However, since we didn't have anything live in production at the time, there wasn't as much urgency for us.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed to provide users with the option to opt out of certain tracking services if they choose. The consent management platform makes this possible, as it allows us to display a modal when a user clicks a link to manage their privacy settings.

**Official Response from Ian Phippen:**

> Hi Ryan, thank you so much for taking the time to review!

I'm glad to hear you found our resolutions expedient and the personalization experience straightforward. I'm sorry to hear about the pain points in your launch - Consent went through some big changes this year, and I understand that you ran into a brief incident with the permissions page. While we acted quickly, the last thing we want is to make anyone feel stalled. I will raise this with the team to dig in on how even momentary issues can impact the customer experience. Thanks again for raising this, and I know we'll improve for the future!

  ### 8. Automates Privacy Tasks with Precision

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adriana T. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 27, 2026

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

I like how DataGrail helps automate the DSAR process without having to manually search through various systems for data. It significantly saves time for both our team and external teams. The initial setup seemed pretty straightforward, which was nice. Overall, DataGrail works for what we need it to do.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

I would like DataGrail to allow me to export my assessments and provide direct links of the assessments to the teams that need to complete them.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use DataGrail to automate the DSAR process, saving our team time by not having to manually search for data across systems.

  ### 9. Request Manager

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Perez M. | Technical Project Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2026

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

The team was professional and accommodating throughout the entire process.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

It does take quite sometime to setup and very involved. Integration was very technical at times for some of my colleagues.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves the problem of having to manually maintain an accurate record of our customers’ data privacy information, and related details.

  ### 10. Streamlined Privacy Requests with Excellent Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sierra S. | Customer Service Process Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

I love that DataGrail significantly limits the manual work for my team by automating privacy request functions, which helps keep our customers updated. The platform is exceptionally easy to use. I also appreciate the clear integration instructions, which have made the setup process smooth as we add more tools. The responsive support team is fantastic, always ready to help and explore options when challenges arise. Overall, these features and support encourage me to highly recommend DataGrail to others.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

I had trouble with an easier way to integrate one of our payment types with DataGrail. Despite the great support team's efforts and exploring options with us and the processor, we were unable to automate the addition of the payment system. There were limited options available to resolve this issue.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use DataGrail to automate privacy requests, reducing manual work and keeping customers updated efficiently. It integrates easily with our PII tools, providing clarity as we expand.

  ### 11. Centralized Consent Management Made Effortless with Outstanding Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sports | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

What I value most is how DataGrail brings order to a very fragmented tag, script, and cookie consent ecosystem. It centralizes everything, applies consistent categorization, and enforces consent logic automatically, which takes a lot of manual oversight off our plate. It also makes it easier to stay ahead of changes since we get visibility into new tags, version changes, and downstream impacts before they create compliance headaches. Overall it simplifies a messy space and gives us a predictable governance model end to end. That, and their Customer Support team is top notch and super responsive.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

One opportunity is adding a clearer view of what data elements each cookie or tag is collecting and using. A filter or indicator tied directly to the script would eliminate guesswork and give us immediate insight into the data flow. That type of visibility would make the platform a true one stop shop for cookie governance and reduce the need to cross reference other tools or run manual validation.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DataGrail is helping us bring structure and consistency to our cookie consent and tag governance. It centralizes tag inventories, standardizes categorization, and applies consent logic automatically, which reduces compliance risk and cuts down on manual oversight. It also gives us better visibility into what is firing across our sites, so we can manage changes proactively and keep teams aligned. The net benefit is a cleaner, more predictable operating model that supports faster execution and stronger compliance outcomes.

  ### 12. Excellent Customer Service, Intuitive Consent Platform, Highly Recommended

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

DataGrail's customer support team is responsive, helpful, and willing to dig in to implementations during onboarding. I never felt like I was asking too many questions during implementation, and DG is even willing to set us up with calls with engineers on their team. This level of hands on is second to none, especially since they involved no additional consulting feeds. Besides that, the consent product itself is relatively intuitive to navigate and covers the main requirements we need in order to be compliant with US and global privacy regulations on consent. Overall, highly recommended!

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

As a maturing consent product, DataGrail was initially missing some features that we had expected like the US privacy string or customized banners for different sites rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. Besides that, consent took a bit more time and involved more engineering than initially expected (i.e. engs across the board shared feedback that we'd like to customize the banners in platform rather than via CSS). However, I'd also note that DG's product team is very fast at delivering and were able to get all of our "must have" features out in time for our launch.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DataGrail is helping us become compliant for user cookie consent and preferences across all of our brand's websites and apps.

  ### 13. Easy-to-Use Consent Management That Keeps Us Compliant

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

The team at DataGrail has been very easy to work with. They’re knowledgeable, they genuinely listen, and they stay on top of what they’re doing. We just launched Consent Management, and it’s awesome! The tool is easy to use, provides all the functions we need and helps us stay compliant to privacy laws regarding cookies and consent.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

Honestly, nothing, we LOVE DataGrail. We are so happy with this product.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They have solved our consent management issues.

  ### 14. Easy Implementation, Responsive Support, and Competitive Pricing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2026

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

DataGrail was easy to implement, and we were able to ramp up on the product quickly. Within two weeks, we had our cookie consent management system in place across our marketing site. DataGrail offered more competitive pricing and responsive support through a dedicated Slack channel, which made a real difference during setup. The platform's straightforward integration and lightweight footprint enabled us to go faster on the implementation.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

Nothing comes to mind — DataGrail has been a smooth experience from implementation to day-to-day use. The product does what it promises, and the support team has been great to work with.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cookie management system

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2026

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

I really appreciate being able to automate the DSR process, as it drastically reduces the time our team spends on manual workflows and makes the overall process much more efficient.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

At the moment, there’s nothing I dislike about DataGrail.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DataGrail addresses the challenge of scaling compliance without relying on manual work. It helps us stay 100% compliant as laws like CPRA continue to evolve, without needing to hire a massive team of analysts to manage everything by hand.

  ### 17. Smooth Onboarding and Excellent Support from DataGrail

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nargiza D. | Director of eCommerce, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

Our onboarding experience with DataGrail has been excellent. Everything that was promised during the sales process has been delivered so far. A special shoutout to our onboarding engineer, Liz Simmons—she’s incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and truly invested in our success.

DataGrail takes on a lot of the heavy lifting during the integration, which has helped streamline the process and reduce the burden on our internal team. We're off to a strong start and are excited to continue working with their team.

Pros:

Seamless onboarding

Proactive and knowledgeable support

Handles much of the setup work internally

Ease of Use

Cons:

None so far

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

We’re still in the process of fully integrating with DataGrail, but so far the experience has been great. We just launched cookie consent management, and everything has gone smoothly — no complaints at all.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DataGrail is helping us solve complex privacy compliance challenges, particularly around data subject request (DSR) management and cookie consent.

By centralizing and automating these processes, DataGrail reduces the manual effort and risk of error that comes with managing privacy workflows across multiple systems. The cookie consent tool helps us stay compliant with evolving regulations without disrupting the user experience.

Overall, it saves our team time, reduces compliance risk, and gives us confidence that we’re handling privacy obligations properly.

  ### 18. Fantastic support and documentation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeff B. | Data Protection Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 04, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

The onboarding process has been awesome really smooth and super supportive. What stood out most is how well they understand the effort it takes on our end to get everything up and running, which is huge for us as a nonprofit with limited resources. I’ve been talking with DataGrail for a while now, and it’s never felt like a sales pitch. They’ve consistently taken the time to understand our privacy needs and have come across as a true partner, not just a vendor.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

So far, we’ve rolled out Consent Management and are currently working on Subject Access Requests and Data Mapping. Consent management went very smoothly, and any hiccups where quickly addressed by Data Grail. The only concern I’ve had is making sure all our connectors align properly. Even if they don’t, DataGrail has been great about committing to getting everything up and running, even if it means looping in their support team.

Once we’re fully implemented, I’ll come back and update this section for a complete and honest review.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DataGrail is helping us strengthen our privacy posture and stay aligned with evolving privacy laws. Privacy is something we take very seriously, and this tool is a key part of elevating our overall maturity in how we manage and protect data.

  ### 19. Responsive, Helpful Account Managers

  ### 21. Replacing Manual DSAR Processing

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Justin P. | Senior Legal Operations Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

DataGrail has allowed us to replace our home-grown DSAR management with a best-in-class system to manage DSARs. It allows us to connect to a variety of systems where data might live, and scan them. Previously, we had to have administrators comb through these systems individually, so DataGrail has removed a lot of manual work. DataGrail has an excellent customer support team which is able to answer our questions when they arise.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

Just like any software, there are some product limitations that we have had to work through, but overall DataGrail is a benefit to our business.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Centralization and Automation of DSARs - saving our company time.

  ### 22. Simple consent management with great support!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

Datagrail makes consent management incredibly simple & streamlined, helping our team ensure our website is compliant & we are implemented best practices for compliance + consent across a variety of data policies.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

Our new consent strategy + implementation is night & day compared to our old tool. Have not experienced negative impacts or blockers while using Datagrail.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Datagrail allows me to quickly analyze, optimize, and implement updated consent policies while ensuring we are aware of, and successfully managing, all relevant data privacy policies/laws for regions that drive traffic to our website. The time it takes to review, implement, and update our consent policies has reduced by over 75% since moving from our old consent policy tool, where each task was incredibly manual - Datagrail automates a large portion of that work for us.

  ### 23. Seamless Transition and Effortless Management with DataGrail

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

Previously, we used OneTrust for our consent banner, but it often created problems with data tracking, such as blocking cookies that were not supposed to be blocked. Since switching to DataGrail, the transition has been seamless. Other than occasionally reviewing the recommended cookie rules, we've had to do very little ongoing management since setting up DataGrail.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

From a developer's perspective, I really can't point out any negatives.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since we started using DataGrail, we haven't encountered any problems, which is a significant improvement compared to our experience with OneTrust. With OneTrust, we frequently faced issues related to data tracking and partner pixel blocking, often on a monthly basis.

  ### 24. Smooth Integration and Excellent Support with DataGrail

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anahit M. | Technical Program Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 14, 2023

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

We’ve been using this integration since August 2022, and it has been a valuable tool for managing Access (SAR) and Delete (RTF) requests. It also allows us to tailor notifications for our users. DataGrail offers several flexible options that suit our needs, ensuring everything runs smoothly and stays in compliance.

Throughout our partnership, we’ve encountered only a few issues, and the DataGrail team has been very responsive and quick to assist with any requests.

Additionally, we’ve integrated more features over time, and the process has been simple, thanks to the clear guidelines and straightforward steps. Last year, we expanded our options to better handle user requests in line with different regulatory requirements.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

Some actions in the workflow are manual, but after discussing with the DataGrail team, we were able to automate some of the process steps. We will continue working with the team to add more automation.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This solution helps streamline and manage Data Subject Requests on a large scale. It enables organizations to automate their privacy operations, ensuring compliance with regulations like GDPR, CCPA, and CPRA. Additionally, it includes features for efficiently handling user consent.

**Official Response from Ian Phippen:**

> We’re ecstatic to hear you’ve had such great results, Anahit! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I’ll be sure to share your kind words with our team as inspiration for our next big project!

  ### 25. Straightforward experience, recommended by deep research

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

It was mostly straightforward to setup the product and the UX/UI is clear. We used Google Tag Manager to integrate Datagrail. I particularly appreciated the ability to setup rules for the consent banner to not show when it's not required for a particular geo location. Styling the consent banner so it fit with our website's design aesthetic did take some effort, but that was to be expected given the highly custom website we had. In the end though, it looked great.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

The consent banner components are a bit difficult to fully style, though with some help from AI and an engineer we were able to get it to look like we wanted in the end.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Datagrail mainly to serve consent banners in geo regions that require it. It's benefiting us by saving us engineering time, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

**Official Response from Ian Phippen:**

> We’re ecstatic to hear you’ve had such great results with DataGrail Consent - thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I’ll be sure to share your kind words with our team as inspiration for our next big project! We recently launched the Layouts feature to offer faster and more comprehensive no-code design customization - be sure to reach out to your account manager for more details if you're not already familiar.

  ### 26. Effortless Integration and Outstanding Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

I love how easy DataGrail is to integrate without needing any Engineering resources, which accelerates the process significantly. The responsive customer support is a huge plus, fixing issues quickly. I also find the interface very intuitive, especially the Consent Management tool, making the system user-friendly.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

I experienced initial technical issues when setting up DataGrail, as the GTM containers weren't loading correctly. Although the problem was resolved quickly with the help of technical support, it was a temporary setback.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find DataGrail easy to integrate without Engineering resources, benefiting from responsive support and an intuitive interface, ultimately accelerating our processes.

  ### 27. DataGrail makes my job easy and organized

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James S. | Sr. Supervisor for Member Services and Tech Support, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 28, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

DataGrail allows for me and my team to have things well organized and automated. This makes our job very easy. Its helpful to stay on top of requests and ensure things are being processed in a timely manner. The DG team is very helpful and knowledgeable. They are quick to implement updates or explain why something may need to be done a different way. They provide me the tools to do the job as well instead of having to wait for them.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

Looking at our process prior to DG I dont think I have anything to say about using it that makes a negative impact to my team.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Eliminating manual work and providing clear insight into time frames, types of requests. Automation makes the tasks easy to work and complete.

**Official Response from Ian Phippen:**

> That’s fantastic to hear! Thank you so much for the kind review, James. If there’s more we can do to support your work, don’t hesitate to let us know.

  ### 28. User-Friendly Platform with Excellent Support, Minor Customization Challenges

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

The platform is incredibly user friendly. Having several privacy processes within one platform is helpful and has removed several manual tasks. The customer support is fantastic. If there is an issue, support normally responds within a day and continues to communicate.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

Consent implementation took longer than anticipated. Some of our use cases would benefit from more customization. The cookie scanner pulls in some noise that makes it difficult to have an accurate inventory of cookies.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Removing manual processes and keeping several privacy processes in one platform.

  ### 29. Excellent

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

The customer service - everyone we work with at DataGrail is invested in our success with the platform. They are attentive and always helpful - it goes a long way.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

Sometimes the flows can be confusing in terms of what you have actioned already in terms of deletion requests with respect to different platforms. It would help if they had more visual cues for when something is done vs. in process.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DataGrail is helping us to stay compliant with the ever-changing landscape of privacy laws.

  ### 30. Great Product, Great Service

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

We recently onboarded DataGrail as our new CMP at my company. The product itself is great, namely the intuitive user interface, and seamless integration with many of the other products within our tech stack. The onboarding process was smooth and painless, thanks to the ongoing support by our engagement manager, Liz S. Liz would meet with us on a weekly basis up until the moment we published our new cookie banner, to ensure all of our integrations were accounted for and that everything was in line before publishing. Liz also helped manage engagements across our other vendors we work with in relation to our DataGrail setup to make sure everyone was informed and aligned. Would definitely recommend.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

Nothing as of yet, we've been happy with the experience so far.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DataGrail has been integral in helping us manage user consent preferences within the context of our unique/complex analytics infrastructure.

  ### 31. Very attentive team, open to feedback and change requests. Product is still maturing.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Gambling & Casinos | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 03, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

The team at DG is their greatest asset. They are very attentive to our needs as a business and open to working with us to make changes to the platform. We are treated like a very valued customer whose feedback is regular taken on board. Our regular calls keep us on track against our own privacy strategic goals. Recent changes to the Risk Assessment have been significant.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

The platform is still maturing in some areas. The customization abilities for assessments in areas like vendors, purposes for processing, categories of data and of data subjects may not be a requirement for a lot of organizations but in our field it would be a game changer to have that.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The need to complete Privacy Impact Assessments in a proactive manner is one of key strategic goals and as we look forward, the changes to the assessment module will help us in achieving that goal. Having automation in the management of privacy rights requests, in particular access requests, is very important for managing our resources in a cost efficient manner.

**Official Response from Ian Phippen:**

> Thank you so much for the thoughtful insight. We’re so proud to partner with teams like yours and grateful to keep growing alongside you - as you alluded to, customer feedback is a major value for us.

I'll share your comments on risk assessment customization with our team, and I'm sure we'll discuss further soon! Thank you again for taking the time to share what you have achieved with risk assessments and DSAR automation.

  ### 32. Must have tool for prviacy teams

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 03, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

DataGrail is very intuitive to use and can integrate with a bunch of different third party systems which may store personal data. Customer support team is fantastic. I get a response essentially on the same day every single time and it is more often than not the same support team member which is good because they have a more holistic view of historical support issues.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

There are still too many clicks throughout the platform which could be automated. There could be more customisation within certain integrations (i.e. being able to select which data fields within a record to delete and not have to delete the entirety of the record).

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DataGrail removed hours worth of manual searching for a 10s of system administrators throughout the business. It also provides us with a source of truth for requests, when they happened, what data was found, when it was deleted etc. We also have all communications with both the data subject and the system administrators all in one platform instead of accross a number of channels.

**Official Response from Ian Phippen:**

> Thank you so much for the kind words and useful feedback. While we’re delighted to hear you appreciate our integrations and customer support, we're always on the lookout for more meaningful and safe automation measures to serve privacy teams, and we'd love to hear more about your dislikes.

I’ll pass your review on, but I encourage you to reach out to us at support@datagrail.io so that we can schedule a more detailed follow-up discussion. Thank you again for taking the time!

  ### 33. NJ Resources Implementation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Utilities | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

DataGrail implementation process was very easy and straightforward. Dave Olszewski was instrumental in keeping the implementation on track due to the tight timeline NJ Resources had to get this implemented by January 15th due to the new privacy law coming into effect for NJ. DataGrail's documentation is readily available online, making it easy to share or direct users to it for reference on what needs to be done. Dave was also great in communicating with other vendors that needed to be engaged for the cookie management consent portion of the implementation.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

From a project management perspective, there were no downsides for DataGrail. I know that there were some limitations with email templates and then data acces request form that NJ Resources would have liked to have more flexibility with.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ability to have cookie consent management on all our websites. Ability to have a DSAR online form for customers to be able to submit access requests. Which is all in accordance with the new Data Privacy law that came into effect on 1/15/2025 for New Jersey.

**Official Response from Ian Phippen:**

> We're so glad to hear your implementation experience was so positive! New privacy laws have a tendency to sneak up, and we're committed to making sure our customers have what they need to be fully compliant on day 1.

I know we shared your technical feedback on during your implementation, but I'll re-surface your comments to our team. I would encourage you to reach out to your CSM for an update on our roadmap as well. Thank you again for taking the time to write a review, and looking forward to our continued partnership!

  ### 34. Difficult to Use and Few Alternatives

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

It was able to cover our needs to prevent legal action from any nation or entity.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

Very difficult to onboard, it took us several back and forth conversations to finally settle on the use of ISI integration in place of the docker container which they wanted us to install within our VPC that they would have access too (this is a security nightmare and would not fly for most medium sized and larger tech companies).

There are known bugs and shortfalls within their implementation that they are unwilling to fix, despite email chains and a virtual meeting to go over the flaws we found. They have a stronghold on the marketing and are able to leverage that in order to get customers to deal with their shortcomings as a SaaS offering.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Preventing GDPR violations.

**Official Response from Ian Phippen:**

> We’re sorry to hear your implementation experience didn’t match our standards. We pride ourselves in offering the most secure data privacy platform and implementation options available, so want to understand your concerns better.

Our leadership team would like to hear your concerns and take action if needed, but we’ll need some additional context. Reach out at support@datagrail.io and we’ll book time to discuss further.

  ### 35. Please with the ease of set-up, customization, and level of service received from DataGrail

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

Our Senior Customer Success Manager, Sara, can answer any question that we have about the platform and loop in the right internal contacts to address any issues we are having. It makes a difference to have a person on the inside that can not only resolve issues but escalate product enhancement requests to the right people.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

Some of the system inventory risk-defaults remain visible even when a system is onboarded and approved and those risks are mitigated. DataGrail is aware of our concern with this and, I believe, are looking into enhancing it.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Centralized DSAR administration on a platform allows for better compliance management. Additionally, having a system inventory that is on a platform (versus a spreadsheet) makes it easier to track data privacy compliance efforts.

**Official Response from Ian Phippen:**

> Thank you so much for taking the time to write - I've passed your kind words on to Sara. It's important to us to act as true partners to our customers, and Sara is a perfect example of this.

We're definitely looking into the issue you mentioned, but I'm glad you brought this up! We have opportunities available for customers to share feedback with our product team on a regular basis. If that's something you would be interested in, please let Sara know.

  ### 36. Great product

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 18, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

I personally enjoy the support that is provided by the DataGrail team whenever I need!

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

The least helpful thing about using DataGrail is there are some manual processes due to limitations with connection types for certain applications.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DataGrail is helping us compile all customer level data into one place, allowing for us to easily manage various customer requests and ensure all endpoints have been addressed.

  ### 37. Easy to set up, great customer support, highly functional

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2024

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

DataGrail has made it much easier for us to manage our customer information in third party systems. With data mapping and discovery, and pre-built integrations with a large number of vendors, setup is a breeze. Coupled with support throughout the whole implementation process, and I have very few negative things to say.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

There are some third parties that DataGrail doesn't yet have integrations with which would be very useful for us.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DataGrail automates our DSAR and data mapping processes, requiring less time spent on the processes and less room for error.

**Official Response from Ian Phippen:**

> That’s fantastic to hear! Thank you so much for the kind review. Apologies if you already knew this, but we also take feedback and requests for new integrations - I'd encourage you to discuss specifics with your CSM to get an idea of timeline and next steps.

If there’s more we can do to support your work in the meantime, don’t hesitate to let us know. Thank you again!

  ### 38. Datagrail usage with reviewing privacy requests

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

DataGrail automates much of the compliance process, which reduces manual effort and minimizes the risk of errors. It also helps businesses stay on top of regulatory deadlines. It also provides a easy view of the request and intergrates well with crm products.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

Sometimes the requests comes in waves where we would prefer one by one.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DataGrail tracks and manages data flows between the company and third-party vendors, ensuring that those vendors also comply with privacy regulations and provide necessary data processing agreements. It also helps protect customer's data.

  ### 39. Great team, but product has major shortcomings

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food Production | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

The team at DataGrail is very responsive to questions and helping you solution.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

The API is woefully inadequate where you can't even get a list of pending requests per platform that needs to process a privacy request. There isn't even a way to do this in the website in a bulk fashion without manually clicking into each request. There isn't a way to bulk acknowledge the completion of requests. This add a lot of manual work for those who need to administer the system. Their existing API integration does not offer an easy way to integrate in a way that delegates control to the customer of the product.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We run a business that needs to comply with state laws to manage privacy requests.

  ### 40. Excellent Automated GDPR Requests

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jake S. | Head of Information Security, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2024

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

One of the standout features of DataGrail is its comprehensive data privacy management. From data inventory to subject requests, DataGrail handles it. It effectively integrates with our data holding systems, making it easier to manage data subject requests and ensure compliance with privacy regulations. The user-friendly interface and seamless integration save time and reduce complexity in maintaining privacy standards. DataGrail’s ability to automatically identify and categorize data across multiple platforms significantly reduces the manual effort required to handle data subject requests. Additionally, the real-time visibility into request status along with detailed reporting tools provide invaluable insights, helping to maintain a high level of data privacy with minimal effort. It was easy to implement, support was great, and this is used countless times per month. This was a great purchase that I'd make again. The API documentation was great, and the pricing was amazing.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

The downsides were mostly from our side. We had some trouble getting our ducks in a row, so implementation took a bit longer than expected. DataGrail was consistently on the ball though, ready to push us along to the next phase. Our CSM was always helpful and easy to work with.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to automate our data subject requests and to inventory the data that we process.

  ### 41. Painless Implementation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam C. | Product Owner, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2024

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

The automations that are touted in the sales pitches actually come to fruition during implementation! We did POC's with competitors to DataGrail and in each case besides DataGrail we found that the automations were only automations after building out the multitude of workflows, API connections, and, form edits. The POC with DataGrail though showed that they truly automate the DSR, Consent, Privacy Assessment, and Datamapping exercises from the start of implementation. We haven't needed any developer resources to integrate DataGrail with our existing systems.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

I wish there was an option for us to build out a custom connection if needed, but honestly DataGrail has existing connectors for the vast majority of our 3rd party systems, particularly the ones we care about. Thus far we haven't needed to connect with a system that is really important to us that they don't offer. Our understanding is that in the future if we do need a connector we can request it from their technical team. Based on our current experience with their customer service/technical team I have zero issues with that approach. Their technical team has been very responsive and quick to help with everything we have needed.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We currently have a few teams involved in managing just the Data Subject Access Request and Consent portions of privacy managment. By using DataGrail, it will reduce that effort from multiple people/teams multiple times a week, to one or two people a couple times a week. Additionally we will be more confident in our privacy posture as it will enable us to do privacy assessments as well as understand where are sensitive data is being kept.

  ### 42. Good platform, great support team

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Geena B. | Technical Project Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2024

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

The platform allows the ease of processing and managing customer privacy requests in a straight forward manner. The UI is intuitive and fairly easy to implement.

The implementation team and support is some of the best I've ever experienced from working with vendors for years handling various SaaS implementations. They are thorough and not afraid to knudge us as the customer to stay on track and focused on whats necessary to meet goals and deadlines to make us successful with their tool.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

The platform and company is still pretty young and with that comes features or products that may still actually be in developement or beta. Luckily this didn't hinder our experience with the platform and overall as a customer we were able to make suggestions that were taken seriously and implemented within a timely manner. The Datagrail team did a great job of meeting regularly with us and heard our feedback and made updates and changes where possible.

Overall we'd still like to see more options for automation within the platform as well as more reporting and visualizations along with levers to pull related to the data mapping functionality.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The platform is allowing for processing of data requests, consent management, and data mapping

  ### 43. Great Onboarding Team - Quick Moving in a SLOW industry

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chase W. | Senior Director of Digital Marketing, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2024

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

Our onboarding experience has been excellent. The project has been mapped out very well by the DG team and if bumps have come up, they pull in the right people who can answer the questions we have. It has been such an easy integration/implementation so far. They have been quick to get on the phone and help us when we got stuck.
They have provided clear expectations after each call and clear assigments. If there was a roadblock on either side, they have been quick to let us know why something is blocked, and worked to quickly get it unblocked.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

I haven't found anything that I dislike with DataGrail yet. We have a fairly complicated setup and even with that it has been easy to work through.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DataGrail has made it easy to consolidate data requests and cookie management. Integrating with our platforms has been easy.

  ### 44. My company current employs DataGrail's base level of DSR support services.

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 11, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

Company representatives are accessible, consistent, and problem-solvers which separates them from others in the market.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

There is nothing I particularly dislike. Overall, the content on DataGrail's website is helpful, though I would love to see more information directed at technical stakeholders that speaks to the implementation and process automation to benefit the client.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DataGrail helps us streamline our existing DSR flows and identify additional gaps to support over the long term.

  ### 45. Efficient and comprehensible UX.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

I love the ease of use when submitting and completing deletion and opt out requests. We use this application weekly.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

I don't have any complaints or feedback. I love the way this application is set up!

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have customers who have requested to delete their accounts and any data we have stored. This application makes it easy to keep track of what is needed for these customer's requests.

  ### 46. Great Team

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 02, 2022

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

I think that the team has been the best part (so far). They are knowledgeable, organized and willing to go the extra mile to get things done. They have an awesome attitude and make an otherwise drab (but important) topic interesting.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

I would like a more seamless way to learn and add compliance features as new laws come into play.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Privacy compliance, which is complicated and multi-jurisdictional.

  ### 47. DataGrail Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 06, 2025

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

The site is organized well, and it's easy to navigate around. Integrations are also easy to do.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

Some work needs to be done manually, such as adding contract start and end dates.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Datagrail to track our contract start and end dates. Get an overview of what apps are used by the company. Track if the apps meet the compliancy requirements.

  ### 48. User friendly platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Manish M. | Senior IT Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 06, 2024

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

We recently onboarded DataGrail, my experience with it was more about integration of Datagrail platform with multiple apps/software that we use on a regular basis. Personally, I loved the documentation they have for some highlevel integrations. It was super easy to do the set up and was very straightforward. I frequently worked with mutlitple teams for integration. There was never any confusion from any of the department and it was all seamless. DataGrail also provides great support when it comes to onboarding or any thing related to troublesooting. I would hightly recommend any one to try them.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

There weren't any! Had a great time with their team

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mostly it will help us in bringing our things in compliance. Will ensure all the sensitive information is accessed only by the authorized personals and also would be helpful for any legal stuff such as auditing logs etc

  ### 49. Datagrail Integration Review: Exceptional Team, Outstanding Product, and Customized Solutions

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nikunj P. | Engineering Team Lead, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 18, 2024

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

DataGrail provides comprehensive documentation that facilitates seamless integration and optimizes your setup time. Their team is exceptional to collaborate with and highly responsive to feedback. They are genuinely receptive to suggestions and actively incorporate new features tailored to your specific requirements.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

The documentation contained a few errors, but their engineering team was highly responsive and promptly addressed the issues. The turnaround time was excellent. Although there was a feature we needed that was still on their roadmap and not yet ready for integration, they were able to accommodate our needs by providing an interim solution until the actual feature is released.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DataGrail automates and simplifies data privacy compliance, benefiting businesses by reducing costs, mitigating risks, improving efficiency, and building trust.
