## Customer.io Reviews
 ### 1. Dynamic Workflows, Multi-Channel Power, and a Helpful New AI Assistant

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alfonso L. | Customer Lifecycle Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

The best thing is The best thing about customer.io is its dynamic workflow capabilities, support for multiple channels, and extensive data warehouse integration.

The icing on the cake is its new AI feature, which provides an assistant for answering questions, creating campaigns, and more.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

Two suggestions. First, please improve the Design Studio by adding more pre-made column styles, such as a mural style, newspaper-style columns, and similar options. Second, beyond the campaign delivery report, it would be very helpful to also generate a more executive-style summary report that highlights practical, actionable insights.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Time to market messaging.
Multi-channel platform, I don't need to have many platforms.
Event triggering campaigns.

 ### 2. Powerful Automation Platform for Customer Engagement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shivam T. | Senior Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

What I like best about Customer.io is how flexible and easy it is to create personalized customer journeys. The automation features are powerful, and the interface makes it simple to manage campaigns across email, push, and in-app messaging without feeling overwhelming.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

Api response is sometimes slow,Initial setup and event tracking configuration can be time-consuming

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps solve the problem of managing customer communication across different stages of the user journey. It allows us to automate targeted messages based on user behavior, which saves time, improves engagement, and helps deliver a more personalized experience for customers.

 ### 3. Dynamic Email Campaigns with a Learning Curve

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rahul S. | GTM, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I love the incredibly well-designed campaign structure and flow creation of Customer.io, which is the best in the market. I find it valuable that I can create flows that change according to user behavior, like clicks, opens, and other data. This customization in the email body according to actions significantly boosts clicks and opens by 20% to 50% over the normal rate.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

The only thing is that there is a slight learning curve, and the new pricing is ridiculous. Earlier under my previous company we were under a VC programme for which the pricing was very VFM. The initial setup was slightly difficult. Lots of settings and infrastructure were needed.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io lets me send bulk mailers, unlike Gmail or Microsoft. I create dynamic flows that adjust based on user behavior, boosting clicks and opens by 20% to 50%.

 ### 4. Straightforward UI and Powerful Automation for User Acquisition

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I really like the automation for my user acquisition. The UI is straightforward, and it helped me convert users into paying customers for my Early Access. Managing transactional emails is also easy here, especially with the Design Studio.

Email delivery has been solid as well.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I wish that sending transactional emails to users who aren’t yet in Customer.io (as a Person) didn’t automatically create a new Person.

In my app, I have a feature where tutors can invite new users, but those recipients may not have joined the app yet. Customer.io still creates a Person record for them, and those end up being billable.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it to send well-targeted emails to my users, and it’s been easy to implement.

 ### 5. Flexible Campaign Copying, Nice Templates and Strong Analytics Display

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Leisure, Travel & Tourism | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

- campaigns: can copy selected parts of 1 campaign to another
- segment: audience preview is very fast
- template: preview feature with audience profiles
- analytics general display
- ai assistant

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

- sometimes the UI takes a long time to load
- the ai assistant can be improved, for example i had 11 campaigns starting with "NL" and i asked it to make a report about those and only find 3 campaigns
- analytics: the only view for the chart is a line graph without labels, would be good to have a bar graph option too
- message limits: only 1 per workspace is too limited
- time window for campaigns can only be minimum 1 hour, this is too limited in my opinion

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Its very easy to create mass campaigns fast, i like design studio features, the support is great too!

 ### 6. Powerful Personalization and Segmentation, but a Steep Learning Curve and Few Templates

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

It lets me personalize emails based on users’ behavior and demographics. I can also create custom segments and tailored sections for users who meet specific conditions, such as showing an upsell section to free users. Overall, the email flow-building interface is intuitive.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

It’s definitely not a user-friendly email platform. When I first started using it, there were a lot of things I didn’t understand, especially around attributes and personalization.
Plus, I wish it came with more templates and pre-designed blocks to make building emails easier.
Also, it would be better if it came with some features to help us avoid email bounces.
Additionally, the AI sometimes gives incorrect instructions on how to optimize my email copy.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to send emails and push notifications to our clients, so we can share important updates, encourage feature adoption, and occasionally drive sales.

 ### 7. Effective Cohort and Rule System, Needs Better Troubleshooting

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julius B. | Head of Product, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like the various products you can use and the visual editing tools in Customer.io. I can edit and see the actual changes, like an in-app message, before it's set up. The ability to create buckets and schedule push notifications and EDMs to various groups based on rules and automations is very helpful. The grouping, cohort, and rule system is more simple and easier to understand compared to what I used before.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

Troubleshooting. We are getting issues, i.e., low deliverables and unclear why. Maybe an AI tool to help us debug or try to figure out why the drop-off occurred along the way.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io helps us with sending EDMs and push notifications efficiently, letting us edit and preview messages, use visual tools for creating and scheduling, and target the right customers with ease due to its simple group and rule system.

 ### 8. Fast, Intuitive Segmentation and Ads Sync. Just Missing Native Shopify Integration

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

Customer.io is fast and ready to handle big amount of data with ease. Easy to create segments for newsletters or send them to Google Ads and Meta Ads. Easy to work with Webhooks and UI is very intuitive. Very good integration with AI Assistant which can quickly help you go through several settings or gather some info like list of your used attributes.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

There is no native integration with Shopify or any other Ecommerce platform. Sure, it can be managed via Webhooks but it's not convenient plus you can't see all the historical purchase data in one place and create segments based on CLV for example.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io helping us to handle big amount of data in one place and sending the data to different sources. Plus, we can use that data for personalized communication through several channels.

 ### 9. An honest review from a 3 year user.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael S. | Founder and Martech Implamentation Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

Customer.io keeps up with the changing landscape. Even as a highly technical developer, I’m continually impressed by their know-how and how well they understand customer needs.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

Nothing to dislike, which is why we chose Customer.io. It used to involve long wait times for releases, but even that has been cut down to just weeks.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io doesn’t just solve the email outreach problem; it actually layers multiple marketing channels, and that’s been a game changer for GTM and PMF.

 ### 10. Innovative Features, Easy Workflows, and a Standout Design Studio

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shalini T. | Product Marketing Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I really appreciate the features and how quickly the team innovates to deliver new ones. The Design Studio makes it easy to build great emails, the workflows are straightforward to use, and my new favorite feature is AI Agents!

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

No possibility to build custom analytics dashboards.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Designing emails with the MCP connection lets a one-person team handle the CRM end-to-end. The UI is great and very user-friendly.

 ### 11. Revolutionized Email Marketing with Data-Driven Automation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Prachi P. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I love how data-driven Customer.io is and appreciate the new AI feature that makes it incredibly easy to use. The automation flows are simple to create, and with the new AI agents, it simplifies the process even more. Integrating and sending hyper-personalized emails is straightforward, making campaign management efficient. The initial setup was very smooth, as our data could flow in seamlessly, allowing quick campaign setup that stays live without requiring frequent adjustments.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I feel that the MCP server should be able to create campaigns so we can enable campaign creation automatically with integrating with the Slack workflows. The automated campaign creation, if integrated via MCU server, would allow us to create a work from Slack, which will be triggered for campaign creation.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io to automate user journeys based on billing status, avoiding false messaging. The AI features reduce my campaign setup time from hours to under an hour, and make it easy to create and send personalized emails.

 ### 12. Powerful Email Campaign Management but Needs Simplified UX

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew G. | Member, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like the flow control in Customer.io and being able to see if customers have opened emails and check conversion rates. It lets me know if people are actually reading what I'm sending out.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

The site is incredibly complicated. It's very hard to see where I need to get the information that I want. Very hard to understand how the site works in the beginning. It's kinda complex and not simply laid out. As a non-programmer, I wish there was something more user-friendly. The initial setup was actually quite difficult. The site did not verify my site very well, and I actually had to contact customer service to get it to work properly.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io to manage my email campaigns. It tracks whether emails are opened, helping me monitor engagement and conversion rates.

 ### 13. Intuitive Email Campaign Management with Stellar Support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sam C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I find Customer.io fairly simple to use, which is great because non-tech users can create campaigns without a hassle. The reporting data is easy to understand, making it more accessible for the team to measure our efforts. I also appreciate the excellent customer service. Whenever we've had an issue, which is hardly ever, the Customer.io team has responded quickly to resolve the problem. Additionally, integrating it with our own system to send data based on user actions and segment them in Customer.io is really helpful.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I'm not sure there is full documentation in Spanish and other languages.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io centralizes email management, simplifying campaign execution and measurement. It's easy to use, even for non-tech users, and its reporting is clear. Integrating with our system allows user segmentation based on behavior, enhancing targeting and engagement.

 ### 14. Event-Driven Automation Revolutionized Our User Engagement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pratillo Y. | Software Developer, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I appreciate Customer.io's unmatched flexibility for event-driven automation and its developer-friendly tooling that lets our team move quickly. It's great that we can map deeply into our product’s user events to build highly tailored, behavior-based workflows without heavy engineering lift. The platform gives us both power and control, allowing us to orchestrate complex messaging across email and in-app channels, test variations easily, and maintain strong data compliance all in one place. The robust event tracking and extremely flexible workflow builder, along with its well-documented APIs and SDKs, are big wins for us. The initial setup was straightforward and developer-friendly, with clear documentation that helped us connect our backend services and build basic onboarding workflows quickly.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

The workflow builder can become cumbersome when building very complex, multi-branch logic—it gets visually cluttered, and version control or easy rollbacks would make large-scale changes less risky. We've also noticed that event payload debugging could be more intuitive; diagnosing why a specific trigger didn't fire often takes more digging than expected. Additionally, some of the advanced reporting and analytics feel geared more toward marketers than developers—we'd benefit from deeper technical insights into event throughput, latency, and API performance. The learning curve for team members new to the platform is also steeper than some alternatives, especially when setting up custom identity resolution and account-level targeting.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io unifies product usage data with messaging, eliminating disjointed tools and manual emails. It automates real-time messages, saving engineering time, and closes the gap between product adoption and retention, reducing churn. Its API and data tools maintain compliance, and its automation boosts user engagement and retention.

 ### 15. The efficiency and flexibility of Customer.io are top-notch.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Games | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like the simplicity of the Customer.io interface and how the tools and various improvements make my work easier. I am particularly pleased with the ability to change the trigger without having to recreate the campaign. I also find the snippet feature and the flexibility of segmentation very convenient. Compared to other platforms like esputnik and Sendpulse, Customer.io stands out.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I would like Flow Control management to be more flexible in terms of working with attributes and segmentation for handling specific triggers.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io for data collection and communication performance analysis. I like the simplicity of the interface and the flexibility of segmentation, which makes it easier to work with attributes and triggers.

 ### 16. Dynamic Data-Driven Filtering Makes Large Data Sets Seamless

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kyle K. | Retention Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

We work with a lot of data and within that data have a bunch of user segments. I would say one of Customerio's best features is their Dynamic data driven filtering. It makes working with large data sets seamless.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I've been using the platform for roughly just over 2 years now and I can't find anything to fault that is worth discussing. I'm always learning new features as I go.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem Customer.io solves for us is seamlessly segmenting our fairly large user database correctly and allowing for data driven campaign optimization.

 ### 17. Automates Personalized Messaging with Precision

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hough S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like how strongly Customer.io connects real-time user behavior to automated messaging without requiring heavy engineering work. The event-based automation and journey builder stand out because they let us build entire workflows based on exactly what users do in our product. This precision drastically improves engagement and product adoption by ensuring we send the right message at exactly the right moment. Customer.io automates personalized, real-time messaging across email, in-app notifications, and SMS. By triggering events directly based on user behavior, it significantly helps with user onboarding, retention, and product-led growth.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

The journey builder, while powerful, can become difficult to manage at scale. There's no easy way to duplicate, reuse, or modularize sections of flows. We end up rebuilding similar logic from scratch, which slows down our team. There's no good way to reuse or modularize parts of journeys. We can't save a section like a '3-touch re-engagement sequence' or a 'post-demo follow-up flow' as a reusable component. Every time we need that logic, we have to rebuild the entire branch from scratch — drag every trigger, wait step, condition, and message again. This is a massive waste of time.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io helps us automate personalized messaging based on user behavior, improving our reaction time to user actions. Its event-based automation and journey builder let us send precise messages at the right moment, boosting engagement and product adoption.

 ### 18. Highly Personalized Automation with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bosko L. | Real Estate Document Manager, Real Estate, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 08, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I really like how Customer.io's behavior‑based automation and segmentation are both powerful and accessible, which is particularly valuable for our B2B SaaS team in Germany. It allows us to build very precise user journeys based on real product activity, not just static lists, and this level of personalization has significantly improved our onboarding completion and retention rates. The visual workflow builder stands out to me as it's intuitive enough for our marketing and customer success teams to create, edit, and launch complex automated sequences without needing help from engineers. Being able to trigger emails, in‑app messages, and delays based on users' actions in our product feels much more targeted than using generic email tools. I also found the initial setup quite straightforward, especially with existing user data and event tracking, and it didn't require much engineering time.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I've noticed that template and dynamic content management could be better. Reusing blocks across multiple emails or journeys isn’t as smooth as it could be, and making global updates requires more manual work than it should. Right now, there’s no good way to create global, reusable content blocks like headers, footers, legal disclaimers, GDPR-compliant unsubscribe text, or button styles that update everywhere at once. If we need to change our company address, adjust a legal note, or update branding, we have to manually edit every single email template and every journey. That’s extremely time-consuming and prone to mistakes, which is risky for compliance in Germany.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io centralizes our behavior-based email automation, user onboarding, and in-app messaging, solving our communication, retention, and efficiency issues by automating personalized journeys based on user behavior, reducing manual workload, and offering GDPR compliance.

 ### 19. Empowers Marketers with Intuitive Design and Data Flexibility

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nelu C. | Product Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like Customer.io's UI, design studio, and data importing/exporting features. The interface is intuitive, allowing me to build what I want without the need for a developer. I also appreciate the ability to launch and monitor email and push communication independently. The data personalization capability was a key reason for switching from SendGrid, as it lets me personalize communication based on data.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I would like to be able to work with any data directly. Right now, sometimes I have to extract some event data in a segment in order to work with this data in a campaign. But it is fine, it is just a nice to have.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io to launch and monitor email campaigns independently, work with data, and personalize communication effectively.

 ### 20. Flexible and Intuitive, Perfect for Automation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mariela S. | CRM & Marketing Automation, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I use Customer.io as a Marketing Automation tool and find it super easy to use and very powerful. The journey builder is excellent and there is really almost nothing it can't do. As for integration, Customer.io turned out to be very flexible and easy to integrate, something our developers appreciated from the very first moment.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

It would be very good to be able to connect Customer.io with business metrics, such as CLV or Revenue, which are currently not available. In terms of analysis, the data is there, but the dashboards on the platform are limited. It is necessary to export them and work on them in Excel or some other platform (e.g. PowerBI) to make the most of them and obtain real insights.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Customer.io, we track the activity of our users and customers, allowing us to send communications at the right time, maximizing our conversion rate and fostering loyalty. The revenue attributed to CRM has increased considerably since we started using C.io.

 ### 21. Empowers Marketing Automation with AI and Multichannel Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 17, 2024

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like the AI features of Customer.io because they make the implementation of campaigns, design, and content very fast. I appreciate the growth of the product as they ship features very quickly, and I don't need to develop custom integration. I also like the support for multiple channels like WhatsApp, email, and in-app messaging.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

In-app messaging for user onboarding and creating self-service (knowledge base) builder could be improved. It's currently hard to build onboarding checklists and walkthroughs.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io streamlines marketing automation, segmentation, and communication. Its AI features speed up campaign implementation and content creation. I don't need to develop custom integrations thanks to their fast feature shipping. Integration with multiple channels like WhatsApp and email enhances communication.

 ### 22. Intuitive UI with Powerful Communication Capabilities

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephen K. | Product Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 09, 2024

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I find the UI very intuitive and it has all the features I'd expect for building drip campaigns and one-off blasts. Customer.io makes it easy to implement data transformations within the platform, which simplifies building an autocomms system. Data transformations allow us to cohort users effectively, create and update attributes for different variables, and build segments based on those attributes, giving us control over the communications we send to users in various states. I love Customer.io and would rate it a 10 out of 10.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

So far we're not too impressed with their AI capabilities -- they haven't improved our ability to build or launch infrastructure.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io to improve user communication and reengage unresponsive users, which enhances our funnel efficiency and unit economics.

 ### 23. Seamless Integrations, User-Friendly with Powerful Automation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like the great integrations and the fantastic design studio for building emails. The robust automations in Customer.io are also a big plus. The design studio's depth allows me to implement detailed Figma mock-ups accurately. Additionally, the initial setup of Customer.io was very easy.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

Mobile vs. desktop optimization is not where I'd like it. The ability to manipulate things to look one way for one platform and another way for another platform are not there. Stacking multiple images in the same column on mobile, for example, is not possible while it is on desktop, but I can't allow it for desktop and have it different for mobile.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io helps with lifecycle marketing using great integrations and a fantastic design studio for building emails. Its robust automations and detail-oriented design capabilities let me implement detailed Figma mock-ups easily.

 ### 24. Helpful for sending the right message to users

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** ashish d. | SEO Executive, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like how easy Customer.io makes it to send the right message to the right users. The automation and user segmentation are really helpful, and it saves me a lot of time while still feeling flexible to use.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

One downside of Customer.io is that it can feel a bit confusing at the beginning, especially when setting up more advanced workflows. Also, pricing can get expensive as your user base grows, which might not be ideal for smaller businesses.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io helps me manage user communication in a more organized and automated way. Instead of sending messages manually, I can set up flows based on user behavior, which saves time and improves engagement. It also helps me understand my users better and send more relevant messages, which is good for growth.

 ### 25. Complex Yet Rewarding for Technical Teams

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Darnell H. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

The most valuable part of Customer.io for me is undoubtedly its robust connectivity and the sheer flexibility it offers for customization. I like that Customer.io is built for developers, allowing us to send custom events and attributes, which means we can build workflows limited only by our data architecture. Whether we are triggering complex webhooks or using liquid logic to pull real-time product data into an email, the platform handles the technical complexity with remarkable stability. Additionally, the customer support team has been exceptional, being responsive and technically proficient. They made a massive difference in helping us navigate the initial learning curve, which sped up our ability to go live with our first sequences quickly. This level of human support was invaluable.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

The platform definitely requires a significant learning curve. It's not a plug-and-play tool for a beginner marketer, and you really need a baseline of technical skills or at least a very close relationship with your engineering team to unlock its full power. If you don't understand how events and attributes map to your database, you're going to struggle. Also, while the visual builder is great, some of the more advanced features can feel a bit buried in the UI, requiring some trial and error before they become second nature.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io solves the nightmare of fragmented user data, centralizing it to create a unified view of the user journey. It enables us to trigger personalized onboarding based on real interactions, ensuring activation aligns with actual product usage.

 ### 26. All-in-One Email Solution with Easy Setup

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew O. | Marketing Director, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I love the segmentation and the ability to track if emails have been opened or bounced. I have been learning more about the AI integration, which I do like, just need more experience before I consider it a top feature. The initial setup of Customer.io was very easy, and the help pointers and tips that pop up as you go through it helped a lot. I appreciate having everything in one place compared to using Mailchimp and Klayvio in tandem.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

There hasn't been much I have experienced that I do not like. I am still newer to customer.io so learning it all

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io automates outreach and outbound marketing, streamlines editing emails through its designer studio, and consolidates functionalities that previously required multiple products.

 ### 27. Evolving platform with robust features and excellent support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maresch B. | Product Marketing Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

What I like the most is that Customer.io keeps evolving and adding new functionality including AI features. The in-app product has been evolving quickly, and the email design experience is really robust, accessible to both coders and non-coders. The email design experience, increasing feature set for in-app messages and the intuitive workflow builder for campaigns stand out. The customer support is very fast and helpful, with our dedicated success manager being always helpful. From onboarding to ongoing success, we always feel very supported by the Customer.io team.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

The product sometimes feels like a mix of legacy and new features. It feels a bit fragmented, especially with multiple different ways to create emails based on different generations of their email building experience. This doesn't really get in the way of my productivity, but when I bring other people onto the platform who are not familiar with Customer.io yet, they sometimes get confused or need some initial guidance to figure out which features to use, since there are multiple features that do the same thing living side by side.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Customer.io to send messages to the right users at the right time, orchestrating our messages across email and in-app. It integrates product event data and user profiles, guiding users through the customer life cycle effectively.

 ### 28. Empowers Sophisticated Customer Engagement

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Therese L. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I find the workflow visualization in Customer.io to be a standout feature. Being able to see the entire customer journey laid out in a clear, logical map makes it incredibly easy for me to manage complex campaigns that would have been a nightmare on our old platform. I have much more control over timing and delivery, and consolidating our marketing stack into this one platform has significantly improved our team's efficiency and the overall quality of our outreach.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

Despite the improvements, it's not yet the perfect platform for my specific projects. My biggest gripe is the restricted template language, which can feel a bit limiting when you're trying to build highly dynamic, custom-coded layouts. I've also found a frustrating limitation in the platform's inability to filter and count incoming events in real time to dynamically insert those specific values into an email. For example, if I want to tell a user exactly how many times they performed a specific action this week, the process is much more manual than it should be.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io solves our engagement issues, transforming impersonal marketing into personalized communication. It allows us to use real user activity for triggers, bridging the gap between mass emails and targeted messages, and enhances our customer engagement strategy significantly.

 ### 29. Powerful and Flexible Messaging Platform for Data-Driven Engagement

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lawrence Ralph B. | Senior Product Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

Customer.io has given us the ability to communicate with our users in a far more targeted and meaningful way. We can now send messages directly across multiple channels, segment our audiences based on behavior or attributes, and design personalized journeys that match each user's lifecycle.

What really stands out is the ability to implement moment-based and event-triggered messaging. This has been extremely valuable for our fintech products, especially for Earned Wage Access (EWA) and salary advances, where timely and context-aware communication significantly improves user engagement and conversion. Customer.io’s workflow builder and event handling make it easy to deliver the right message at exactly the right moment.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

Customer.io has been working well for us so far. Pricing may be a consideration for smaller teams or early-stage companies, especially as our user base grows, but it’s reasonable given the platform’s flexibility and the level of personalization it enables.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to automate user communication based on real-time actions, segment users effectively, and support personalized financial journeys. This has improved engagement, increased clarity for users, and helped streamline the overall experience for our EWA and salary advance products.

 ### 30. Friendly, Easy-to-Use UX with Lots of Capabilities

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sara B. | Growth Lifecycle Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I find it very user-friendly, and the interface is intuitive and easy to navigate. There’s a wide range of features available, which makes it quite versatile. The only challenge is that it can sometimes be a bit tricky to manage routing or set daily email limits within the same sequence.

I especially enjoy using the Claude MCP. While I’d love to see it become a bit more advanced over time, it’s already a great feature to have. It’s also very straightforward to integrate with our platforms, which is a big plus. Customer support can occasionally be a bit complex to navigate. If you have a strong customer success manager, the experience is excellent—they’re kind, approachable, and very helpful. However, at times it feels like communication between customer support and customer success could be better aligned. Overall, I use the platform every day.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

Most likely the difficulty in routing customers smoothly, along with the inability to easily set a daily limit on the number of emails sent.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io supports all of our customer communications across the entire lifecycle, allowing us to design and automate outreach based on where customers are in their journey.

We use it to launch and promote new products, run targeted campaigns that encourage prospects to book demos, and support BDR efforts with structured, personalized outreach. It also helps us drive product adoption by nudging customers to use specific features or expand their usage, based on their behavior, activity signals, and other data points. Overall, it enables highly data-driven journeys that adapt to customer engagement and help us deliver the right message at the right time.

 ### 31. Revolutionized Our Marketing with Stellar Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Moises D. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I love using Customer.io's campaign builder, which is easily the standout feature for me. The 'wait until' action block has been a total game changer, allowing us to hold the user in a journey until they perform a specific action, like completing a profile or making a first purchase, without needing complex external tracking scripts. This feature has significantly minimized our reliance on engineering resources, more than any other tool we've used, making it intuitive to create intricate conditional flows. Additionally, the support and customer success team stand out as they are incredibly prompt, amiable, and truly feel like strategic partners rather than just a help desk. The combination of clear documentation and high-touch support makes setup an enjoyable experience. Our customer success manager acts as a strategic partner, helping us rethink our journey architecture for better results. The team has thought through all the game-changing features a marketer actually needs, making Customer.io a perfect choice for us.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

While every product has room for small UI tweaks, the team at Customer.io seems to have thought through all the game-changing features a marketer actually needs.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io solves our engineering bottleneck problem, letting the marketing team manage campaigns autonomously. Its user-friendly interface allows quicker execution and experimentation without needing constant developer involvement.

 ### 32. Sophisticated Automation at an Accessible Price

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** rosario b. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like Customer.io for the sheer depth of the automation features available at its price point, which is a major win. Compared to enterprise competitors like Razer and Google, Customer.io offers a remarkably similar level of sophisticated segmentation and workflow building at a more accessible starting price. The Visual Journey Builder is robust, and their customer service is exceptionally strong, actually understanding technical queries, which is critical when troubleshooting complex API triggers or liquid logic. It's a professional-grade tool that doesn't require an enterprise-grade budget to get started. It offers the best balance of developer-first API capabilities and marketer-friendly campaign tools, providing the power of an enterprise tool wwiwiwh a much more reasonable and transparent pricing structure. It's a solid, reliable workhorse that has scaled with us effectively as a growing company, delivering professional-grade automation without the high entry price of enterprise competitors.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I'm frustrated with the occasional sync friction with the APIs. Sometimes our internal systems or their endpoints don't push data correctly, which can lead to delays in triggers or missing attributes on a user's profile. Debugging these silent failures where a 200 okay is returned, but the data isn't reflected as expected, can be a bit of a headache. I'd love to see more proactive, real-time monitoring, or a data health dashboard that alerts us the moment an API payload doesn't match the expected schema, rather than us finding out after a segment looks smaller than it should.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io solves the challenge of data-driven relevance, replacing stale messaging with real-time event triggers. It streamlines our campaign execution, enabling us to launch sophisticated automation without developer intervention, transforming raw app data into an actionable marketing asset.

 ### 33. Why Customer.io works as an Easy, Clear, User-Friendly Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like the ease of use of the platform best about Customer io. It's laid out quite clearly and has helpful tips along the way.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I would say it's rigid nature? Sometimes, the tips needed to know exactly why something isn't working are not clearly laid out. And you spend much too much time trying to figure it out.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Grouping clients in a clear and direct way. It was quite a struggle separating the different tiers of clients, but the platform is immensely helpful in that way.

 ### 34. Event-Triggered Marketing Powerhouse with UI Lag

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Katrina B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I really like how Customer.io seamlessly integrates with Segment. This feature is super useful because it saves us a lot of time by pulling in all our user attributes and event behaviors directly from our product without needing to write custom code for every single trigger. It's also incredibly valuable because it lets us target users based on their key 'uh-huh' moments, like when they first integrate a data source or invite a teammate, happening in real-time. This kind of responsiveness is exactly what we need to keep momentum high during a limited trial period. Plus, the setup was remarkably smooth thanks to the excellent documentation and native Segment destination. I could start building campaigns within the first hour, and we went from zero to a live onboarding sequence in less than a week. Despite some lag issues, the platform’s logic and automation power make it essential for our growth stack, significantly improving our conversion rates from trials to paid users.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

If I had one major complaint, it would be the platform's performance when it comes to page load times. Compared to a more comprehensive tool like HubSpot, the interface in Customer.io can feel noticeably sluggish. There's a persistent lag when navigating between different campaign views or loading large segments of data, which can be frustrating when you're trying to move quickly. In HubSpot, the transition between pages is nearly instantaneous, but with Customer.io, you often find yourself waiting several seconds for a page to fully render. It's not a deal breaker, but it's definitely a night and day difference in user experience.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io to design and automate user life cycles, reducing trial drop-off by sending timely, relevant messages based on user behavior, which increases conversion rates.

 ### 35. Empowered Our Marketing with Intuitive Segmentation

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Winston C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I use Customer.io as my primary command center for managing our SaaS subscriber base. I really appreciate the attribute filtering feature, which is easily my favorite part of the tool. It's incredibly simple to use, even if you've never touched a database in your life, and it makes sophisticated marketing feel accessible. I also appreciate the new AI-powered suggestions in the segment builder, which help predict or suggest the best way to group my audience. The interface is very intuitive for a marketer, allowing me to start building segments and sending emails without ever having to look at a line of documentation. The tool is powerful enough for complex tasks but simple enough that I won't feel lost in the settings. It makes me more strategic and independent in how I communicate with our customers.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

While the basic filtering is great, I do feel like the more advanced nested filtering options can be a bit rigid. Sometimes I want to create a very specific cross section of users like people who did action, but only if they also have attribute b and were part of campaign and the UI starts to feel a little bit like I'm trying to solve a puzzle. I'd love to see even more flexibility in the Visual Builder so I don't have to occasionally lean on a more technical colleague when the logic gets particularly curly. Also, the reporting can sometimes feel a bit basic, I wish it was easier to see a visual map of how segments are overlapping in real time.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io as my main tool for managing our SaaS subscribers, making tailored updates without coding. It removes the need to rely on engineers for data exports and lets me strategically segment users, reducing blind messaging and making sophisticated marketing feel accessible.

 ### 36. Effortless Email Marketing with Easy Setup

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jay L. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I find Customer.io incredibly easy to use and very easy to set up. It allows us to inform and educate our customers about the latest product features and new releases. I like that the system is super easy to use, enabling a product marketing manager to operate it themselves without needing dedicated lifecycle marketing support. It's great for tons of release engineering or even marketing operations.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

Sometimes it's tough to get the email formatting to look pixel-perfect across multiple devices. But we're finding workarounds to that over time, and the system is definitely getting better.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io is incredibly easy to use, set up, and helps us inform and engage customers with the latest product features, new releases, and more.

 ### 37. Central Command for Startups' Growth Strategy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jim M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I've used Customer.io for nearly three years, and it's grown from a simple email tool to the central command for our startup's growth strategy. It orchestrates all user touchpoints, like marketing sequences, transactional receipts, and behavior-triggered push notifications. Customer.io is our main engine for lifecycle management, helping us maintain a consistent voice across channels while ensuring messages are backed by real-time user data. It solved the critical problem of our fragmented data silos by connecting directly to our existing data structure, letting our marketing, product, and sales data communicate effectively. The Campaign Builder, especially the snippets and saved rows functionality, is the star for us, saving massive amounts of time on content creation. I also heavily use display conditions to customize email templates efficiently for different regional audiences, allowing for high-level personalization without extra administrative work. The platform is well-documented, the UI is intuitive, and the setup was a total breeze, particularly with the form connector enabling us to capture leads without writing complex backend code. Customer.io continues to improve and become easier to use as we scale, and I highly recommend it for any growing startup, especially with a digital product or mobile app.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

If I have to be critical, the mobile and SMS side still feels like it has room to grow. While they do offer SMS, the native integrations are a bit limited compared to the email side of the house. I'd love to see them partner with a wider variety of global SMS providers to give us more flexibility in terms of regional pricing and delivery options. As we scale internationally, having more plug and play choices for mobile messaging would help us avoid having to build custom webhook solutions for every new market we enter.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io solved the fragmentation of our data silos, connecting our marketing, product, and sales data, eliminating friction. It saves us time on content creation and allows for efficient personalization without administrative hassle.

 ### 38. Streamlined Lifecycle Marketing with Customer.io

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elbert S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I really like the Customer.io Workflow builder; it's the standout feature for me. It feels like it was designed with both a marketing brain and an engineer heart. The flow of setting up campaigns and broadcasts makes perfect sense, and having the flexibility to toggle between a drag-and-drop editor or custom HTML is great for different content types. The testing environment is top-tier too, allowing me to see how a multistep journey will look across channels before going live, which boosts my confidence. Also, the platform combines the power of a developer-grade API with an intuitive UI, which is a big win for both our engineers and marketing managers.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

If there's one area where the platform falls short, it's the native analytics and reporting. The current setup is a bit rigid, I'd love to see a more adjustable conversion rate display. Right now, it's hard to see a clean comparison of people who entered a specific journey versus those who converted without doing a lot of manual data exports. We often find ourselves managing the deeper analysis in external spreadsheets or by tools because the in-app dashboard doesn't quite give us the level of granular reporting we need to make quick optimizations on the fly.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io solved our tool sprawl problem and eliminated data silos. It integrates efficiently, allows real-time actions on data, and transforms marketing into automated, targeted conversations.

 ### 39. Powerful Tool with a Pricing Caveat

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Judy V. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I find Customer.io's real-time event triggering combined with the visual workflow builder incredibly useful. Being able to see a flow chart of exactly what happens when a user signs up and branching that based on whether they are a B2B lead or a B2C customer is powerful. The UI is clean, which is a big plus for me. I also appreciate the ability to test event-driven triggers with live data before going public, as it gives us a level of confidence we didn't have with our previous stack. Customer.io simplifies the creation of complex automation, making it feel manageable.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

The biggest pain point for us is the pricing structure. It's clearly built with B2B SaaS in mind where you have a lower volume of high value leads. In a B2C or e-commerce context, where you might have 100,000+ profiles but many are low frequency shoppers, the per profile cost becomes a massive burden. Once you graduate from their startup program, the jump to the next tier is steep. We're talking a leap from basically nothing to a $1,000+ monthly minimum. It feels like a success tax. If your list grows faster than your immediate revenue, you're stuck paying for a massive database of contact that aren't all generating equal value. It's a Band-Aid situation where the tool is great, but the economics eventually stop making sense for high volume, low margin businesses.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io to overcome the technical challenges of event-based messaging, allowing our team to send targeted communications without heavy developer intervention. It lets us create complex journeys independently, providing a personalized customer experience and bridging product data with user engagement.

 ### 40. Smart Automation with Room for Growth

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ana K.

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I love the dynamic segment creation opportunities, the visual builder, and randomized delays in Customer.io. The platform is smart overall and automates our communications effectively. The visual builder makes it easier to build emails without needing complicated HTML structures, which is great for those who may not be well-versed in coding. The randomized delays help manage large volumes of sendouts without damaging our sender reputation or ending up in spam. Dynamic segment creation allows us to tailor our communications to specific target audiences, ensuring we’re not just sending messages to everybody.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

The visual builder in Customer.io could use more features to customize the emails' look. Right now, it's way too narrow. The image editor is way too simple and could be improved with options to add text of different fonts, sizes, and CTAs on banners, along with some special effects.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io to ensure clients don't miss promotions. The visual builder simplifies email creation, randomized delays help manage campaigns without spam issues, and dynamic segments tailor messages to specific audiences.

 ### 41. Easy-to-Learn Interface with Helpful, Responsive Support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

The Customer.io interface is easy to use and learn. Once you understand the language (Design Studio, Campaigns vs. Broadcasts), it's easy to weave in and out of the pages and projects. I also like the customer service chat. Both the AI Agent and live representatives have been helpful in answering questions, even in the late hours of troubleshooting or scheduling emails!

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I dislike when the interface changes. There's not usually a need for an interface change, when it's purely cosmetic. It'd also be helpful to see an announcement about interface changes.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io helps me build lifecycle campaigns for clients, provide clear conversion reports, and helps making the work I do with clients clear and consistent.

 ### 42. Easy Workflow Creation but Needs Better Auditing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alexander S. | President, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I find that Customer.io is easy to use, and it's up-to-date with technology. I especially appreciate how it's easy to create workflows once you have events installed. Plus, they frequently release new product updates, which is great. The initial setup was also easy, and I'd rate my likelihood to recommend it as a 10 out of 10.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

The API could be improved to make it easier to have a data/events catalog. It's really hard to audit what messages have been sent, which is important for compliance purposes since we need to keep track of what is actually delivered.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io to orchestrate messages and create complex workflows easily, with frequent new product updates.

 ### 43. A Must-Have for Efficient Lifecycle Marketing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tony S.

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I really like the level of control and flexibility that Customer.io provides without abstracting away the logic. It allows me to translate business rules directly into logic without oversimplifying or hard coding decisions. The initial setup was relatively straightforward, and once I understood how events, attributes, and workflows connect, the platform became very intuitive. I appreciate having Customer.io sit at the center of our ecosystem, integrating closely with our product and data stack to ensure reliability and real-time flow of events and user attributes. We also use its integration with Twilio to deliver communications via WhatsApp. Overall, it feels like a must-have tool in every workspace.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

As workflows grow larger, they can become harder to navigate and audit at a glance, especially when multiple branches, delays, and reentry rules are involved. Better visualization or tooling to summarize logic at a higher level would make ongoing maintenance easier.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io to automate and organize lifecycle communications, transforming raw data into effective messaging. It reduces manual work and provides control and flexibility without oversimplifying, allowing direct translation of business rules into logic.

 ### 44. Intuitive UI and fair pricing, but email limits and AI customization need work

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

* Simple user interface, intuitive controls, and a clear overview of the most important tools
* Setting up interfaces with other programs and tools worked relatively well
* The only issue was sending newsletters with individual voucher codes, which didn’t work due to a limit on the number of emails that can be sent per minute that was not known beforehand
* Pricing is reasonable; the account manager has always provided good advice and has also granted discounts
* Support has not been used so far, as in-house developers are available
* The AI functions have not been used extensively so far, except for evaluating/analyzing sent newsletters and assisting with copywriting. These could be made more customizable

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

* Using the interface in German would make it easier to use
* Best practices for the various features would be desirable
* The overview could be made even simpler; an introductory tour of the system and guidance on how to use it most effectively would be helpful
* Currently, it is not possible to create and edit WhatsApp messages directly within the system; having to go through another tool (in our case Twilio) takes too much time

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Previously, we had the problem that we didn’t really know what a newsletter should look like or how it should be structured. The ability to create a custom email layout and edit it at any time helped us adapt it to match our brand and the specific topic of each newsletter. The KPI overview and its explanation helped make it easy to track performance.

 ### 45. Engagement Booster with Exceptional Support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marcelo L. | Growth Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like the practicality of creating campaigns and complex journeys, which makes our team agile and proactive. The visual interface is very useful, allowing less technical members to solve problems and adequately develop complex journeys. I also appreciate the technical support available via chat within the platform, which helps us resolve issues quickly and assertively, without relying on long waits for email support. The segmentation features and dashboards for evaluating results are very valuable, and I find Customer.io easy to use, even without a web SDK, as it was simple to add events using GTM.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

Support for improving deliverability and management of the IPs used in sharing.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io to send emails that increase customer engagement, reactivate inactive customers, improve communication of new features, and enhance the customer journey in my product.

 ### 46. Sleek Design and Robust Tools, Needs More Design Features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hanna C.

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I use Customer.io for email marketing and appreciate its robust set of tools that cover email, SMS, and push notifications. I really like the sleek design of the interface and find the design studio capabilities really valuable, especially for creating drafts of email designs without cluttering other areas. The Design Studio also has a component tool which is really handy. Additionally, I am fond of its AI tools.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I wish there were more design capabilities such as putting text on top of imported images, and I wish I could properly see how designs change in forced dark mode on mobile. It would also be useful to have the capability to put different links based on what device the user is on.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io handles everything CRM marketing related, offering robust tools for email, SMS, and push campaigns. The Design Studio lets me draft email designs without cluttering other areas, and the component tool is handy.

 ### 47. Seamless Email Campaigns and A/B Testing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Utilities | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like that I can do A/B testing emails and scheduling emails with Customer.io. The A/B testing helps us determine which email content is more attractive and can make customers sign up for our plans. We can select the best email template to increase conversions. The scheduling email feature helps me avoid maintaining manual cron jobs, which is excellent.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

So far, I haven’t found anything I dislike.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io helps me schedule emails, eliminating the need for cron jobs. I can define flows, set time intervals, call webhooks, and send transaction emails. A/B testing boosts conversions by optimizing email content, and scheduling saves me from manual maintenance.

 ### 48. Intuitive Customization and Seamless Integration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris C.

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I use Customer.io for all our transactional and lifecycle marketing communications. It handles marketing touchpoints in a way that is easy and intuitive to set up and use. I really like the level of customization such as workflow configurability, AI enablement, and having multiple workspaces. This allows us to mold Customer.io specifically to our business needs. I'm currently using Customer.io's new MCP URL to assist in reporting and other tasks. Having multiple workspaces helps us split out our business lines easily and keep things neatly organized. The initial setup was very easy, and we had help implementing the platform from start to finish.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I really wish Customer.io had a 'optimize send time' option that used previous send times and open/engagement rates to determine when to send, rather than just an AI-educated guess.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io for all our transactional and lifecycle marketing communications. It provides an intuitive platform for email and push notifications. The customization and multiple workspace features allow us to tailor it to fit our business needs perfectly, enhancing organization and ease of use.

 ### 49. Empowers Multilingual Email Marketing Effortlessly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Plamen T.

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I use Customer.io for everything email-related like marketing and transactional emails. I appreciate that Customer.io helps our company deliver emails reliably at scale while allowing for strong control over targeting, personalization, segmentation, and automation. It's also extremely valuable to communicate with users in different languages, and Customer.io makes this process easy for us. The UI is designed in a way that facilitates making adjustments, A/B testing, and improving performance constantly. When I joined the team, I found the initial setup to be straightforward and similar to other ESP tools, which made it accessible right from the start.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

One thing that can be improved would be to have a detailed analytics tab for each individual email in the automated campaigns. This tab should include not just basic KPIs, but detailed metrics, such as emails sent, delivered, bounced, etc., grouped for each individual email.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io helps our company reliably deliver emails at scale, with strong control over targeting, personalization, segmentation, and automation. It's valuable for communicating in different languages, making it easy to adjust, A/B test, and improve email performance.

 ### 50. Visually Engaging Newsletters with Ease, Needs Better Outlook Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Games | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I use Customer.io for internal newsletters, and I appreciate that it's more visual than other platforms. I love how it allows embedding of media, colored backgrounds, and hyperlinks, which enhances the look of my newsletters. The readability is fantastic, and being able to embed videos directly, rather than linking to YouTube, is a big plus. The initial setup of Customer.io was very easy.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I can't add Outlook mailing lists, so I have to send to myself and then forward, which means I can't use the analysis tools.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io for creating visual internal newsletters with media, colored backgrounds, and hyperlinks, enhancing readability. It allows embedding videos directly rather than just links.
