Crowdin gives multiple machine translation options, including a free in-house one. It is one of the few services that offers free plans for open-source projects and it gives almost all a user wants when editing and adding translations: keyboard shortcuts, good editor UI, ... The editor sometimes is a bit slow when saving translations and auto-translated strings are not always responsive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Crowdin is an easy-to-use tool for translators. It helps translators and project managers work on a shared platform with various languages. We can access the TM and other features quickly, and other components allow us to create a collaborated work on a project. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I think it would be better to include a better spell-checking system to use with Crowdin or the export feature could be upgraded for better assistance for translators and project managers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The platform can send you eg. e-mails with new strings to translate in the projects you are participing, and the hyperlink will open a web page which comfortably shows just those strings, filtered.
The platform also gives possibilities to help understand the contexts of the strings while working on them, but not all devs leverage this functionality as well as could be hoped. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Possibly the e-mail notifications could be even more fine-adjustable, like how many new strings to combine into one message. Also, Crowdin’s own user interface to more languages, including Finnish, and maybe via Crowdin platform itself? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I've used Crowdin for over 6 years and prefer it over any other platform on the market. It's been easy to set up for my clients, and intuitive and simple enough to use with volunteers, who often haven't got any experience with TMS's.
Their support is absolutely amazing - I always get help super quickly, no matter what, and they're open to suggestions re: new features, which I highly appreciate.
One of my client's businesses is an open source platform - they get to use Crowdin for free because of that. What's not to love? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish I could preset vendors for certain projects' certain languages to speed up translations' ordering, but that's a super minor thing which I'm sure they'll sort out soon enough. Nothing else really. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I've used these type of tools for translating FLOSS projects for a long time, and I find Crowdin very intuitive and easy to use, yet it feels made for power users. I've translated whole FAQ sections in a breeze. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I still haven't found any issues using Crowdin. A while ago it was a little clunky, but the interface got a lot better and I like it more than other similar tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is free for open source projects and the experience is higher than the average value of similar products.
It has nice built-in machine translation tools that help me simply determine the content. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's frustrating that it doesn't retain the original contributor's information when committing a commit to a Git project.
There is no syntax highlighting in the translation box, which is what makes long text with lots of syntax hard to recognize. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

- the kanban view where you can see the work progress
- automatic word count
- easy to assign tasks for translation and proofreading
- the translation memory is really helpful
- easy to add people and projects
- easy to communicate with translators in strings and comments Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- it's integration with other tools can be difficult to use (google docs, django, figma), sometimes it dosen't work, it's buggy and it can create more work than help
- when changes occur in certain documents it;s not easy to readd them in Crowdin withour resetting the whole task, sometimes it grays out areas that still need translated and it can create a lot of chaos Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Login sessions last 28 days or so and you always need sometimes login into the account again to keep working Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's very useful to use for helping to localize other projects as well as your own. Everything is easy to learn and frees up a lot of time for those who need good localization but have other priorities, Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The webpage is easy to get lost in, and the plugins can be shoddy Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It offers you different options for translations for one string, you can choose what sounds best and also edit in case it's still not accurate. Good overview of progress of different articles, easy to keep track. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes struggles with screenshots/links (had an issue where different links/screenshots got replaced with one specific one all the time and I had to be very careful in selecting the correct string).
If it is only person translating/reviewing articles, you still have to go in and approve all strings after you translated them. Sometimes not all strings get selected and then you have to go back in and find the ones that slipped through Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
