After my initial term ended, I lost access to all study materials unless I paid another full year’s subscription fee. When I contacted support, they confirmed there are no exceptions to their policy, even though the course marketing suggests learners can complete it “at their own pace.” While the learning content itself was solid, the lack of transparency and unwillingness to offer a reasonable resolution left me feeling misled. First off Iam a non-finance transfer person, and my intent is to become a PE industry professional. Before reviewing the FMVA program, I would like to say that by subscribing to CFI you're getting access to more than one certification bundle. Each one is industry specific and very detailed. Credit rating models, bloomberg screens, mighty complex asset pricing models and entire series of focus courses (Bonds, fx etc..) are just to name a few of the good ones. They also explain where each role fits into, within the finance industry. Now onto FMVA.. From taking multiple certfifications from different sources I can say that most of them teach the same foundational knowledge. The main difference, however is in the process. Good analogy is foundation for buildings in a construction industry. Everyone can dig a hole in the ground and dump concrete or other materials in there. Only true professionals have a methodical and well thought out multilayered process. As the result of which the foundation is able to hold an ecosystem of floors on top of it. CFI's teaching process gave me a financial foundation that is truly solid and grounded in expert analysis done by financial industry professionals. It takes time and most importantly commitment to learning instead of passing exams and getting badges (which is pretty addictive I have to admit). Good luck ! The certification course is broken down in bit sized modules which are easy to access and can be repeated multiple times if required. Many practice files are shared to learn as you do the exercise. The learnings are easy to implement at work and will help improve efficiency. It walks you through step by step on what you need to do to learn the concept, theory and than practically evaluates you at the end of each course. You can run through it as many times as you like. I came into the program with an MBA and off a finance capstone course so I had some background but wouldn't call myself a finance professional by any means before this course at least. After passing my FMVA certification I do feel far more confident to tackle the financials of a company. The videos are clearly laid out and you have mini models and than complete a full size model. It's easy to follow along and builds your confidence. I am not a financial professional but would not have any qualms about sitting with a CFO after this course and talking shop. Yes I may still miss one or few things as I don't get to do modelling on a daily basis (for now) but I always know where to look for it with my CFI subscriptions which I plan to keep going as for 500$ a year this is a relatively affordable and worth it for me. I have recommended the subscription to two friends, one is on her way to do her CPA and the other is a Senior Product Manager. Both have also found tremendous value in the program. My main interested in CFI is the Financial Modeling but you do get access to about 6 other certifications as well that I may paruse but my focus is definitely on the finance side now. **What do you dislike about Corporate Finance Institute?** It's a lot of content, spread out of 4-5 months for me. It was very difficult to recall so much data for the final exam. I passed the final after a lot of blood, sweat and tears.
