It was very easy to save a lot from the very beginning. As soon as we’ve tagged all of our environments we could turn existing instances on and off automatically according to required schedules. Then we used tag-based scheduling to apply a schedule related to a specific tag automatically for each new instance assigned with an environment tag. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

CPU utilization charts for EC2 instances. This has become an irreplaceable tool to avoid overprovisioning and to set proper AutoScaling. Also, it decreased the cost of our testing environments after we assigned schedules to them. It’s very good to have recommendations, which highlight potential sources of waste as soon as it appears. I’m a beginner in cost optimization so CloudAvocado recommendations were a great starting point for me. It detected the most untidy parts of our AWS cloud and we made some significant improvements on the very first day of usage.
