Linking to the Source documents/evidence is the best thing. No other AI tool has been able to do that that I know of. Being able to standardize and make consistent citations is very helpful. I like the availability of integrations with other programs, even though I have not had chance to use them yet. The User Interface is a little complicated/busy. I understand that this is sophisticated software, but a seasoned attorney is not going to understand how to make it work. I work with attorneys that can't even handle working MS Word correctly, there's no way they would understand how to do use Clearbrief. I also don't like that you can't share a linked brief outside of the Clearbrief universe (unless I'm not doing something right). I use Clearbrief for citation checking and creating tables of authorities. It saves a great deal of time in my appellate brief writing and helps me identify the best places to cite within factual documents, especially when reviewing hundreds of documents where the same information is presented slightly differently. Clearbrief isn't perfect with understanding Maine citations, especially parallel citations, as it thinks they are two separate references. It also puts Maine statutes and state case citations into a table of authorities in an incorrect format, which requires manual correction. I really like the tables that Clearbrief generates, especially for the table of authorities, feeling they're more reliable than AI-generated tables. I wrote a response and then G2 deleted it -____-. Anyways 1) being able to pull facts from the record and correlate them with citations to ensure references to the facts are accurate is invaluable. 2) Quickly assembling a TOA saves a ton of time. While not always 100% accurate it is also helpful that ClearBrief flags potential issues with citations so they can be addressed before finalizing a TOA or submitting a brief. The ability to link to a source document doesn't feel very user friendly or intuitive, it's a bit clunky to understand how to appropriately link a statement to a portion of a source document, not very user friendly in terms of having flexibility about how a citation to a source document appears, once I've created a timeline and linked factual citations to a source document I want to be able to continue going back to that draft with live links but it seems that doesn't work. I use Clearbrief to hyperlink documents for court filings. It helps me create a table of contents incredibly fast. I find Clearbrief helpful because it assists me in reviewing case materials, developing timelines, and checking citations in my role as an arbitrator. The most important feature for me is the one where the case law and factual citations can be verified. This feature saves me time and effort, as I don't have to manually look up every case and citation to ensure accuracy and prevent any AI 'hallucinations' in the parties' briefs and submissions.
