GeoHECRAS facilitates an user-friendly experience in which CAD, GIS and HECRAS software is seamlessly integrated together to streamline the modelling process for water resouces based engineering designs. It helps us realize cost and schedule efficiencies on our projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
On some rare occasions the software can be buggy and crash unexpectadely. Any concerns about losing work are generally mitigated hower through the effective auto-saving features. Civil-Geo also offers excellent technical support services to help resolve any issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The ability to use various overlays (impervious surface, soils, DEM data, etc) is extremely helpful as this is available within the software without hunting around the internet or digging though company server files for the correct overlay. The customer service is helpful, as they can push updates quickly to resovle issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The initial cost is something to consider, but the annual renewal fee is only a fraction of the cost. This is easily offset by the quick response of the help team and the services and training offered. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I use GeoHECRAS for 2D hydraulic modeling. It is very user friendly while mantaining a wide array of uses with a robust engine. I am able to produce very high resolution results usually in a relatively short amount of time. GeoHECRAS is easy to integrate into existing methodologies and easy to pair with other software systems. Additionally, their customer support is always very helpful and friendly, and has helped me with modeling setup, errors, and understanding of how the program works. The only downside I've experienced for GeoHECRAS is that there is currently no easy way to integrate subsurface stormwater impacts. However, I do believe they are working on a data wrapper for EPA SWMM that has a similar user interface to GeoHECRAS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
GeoHECHMS successfully integrates GIS tools, traditional HEC-HMS algorithms and other web-based databases (USGS, FEMA, USDA etc.). I like the user interface it offers. GeoHECHMS is one of the best hydrologic modeling software I have experienced. Compared to the conventional HECHMS and other watershed modeling packages, it is more friendly to new learners. GeoHECHMS is not perfectly compatible with specific input formats like DWG and DGN, although it claims to support these formats. I had witnessed software crash a few times when I was trying to load these data files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
GeoHEC-HMS excels in providing a robust platform for simulating the hydrological processes of watersheds. Its ability to model various hydrological components, from rainfall-runoff to snowmelt, makes it a super useful tool. The software's versatility and comprehensive range of modeling options, such as infiltration, unit hydrograph, and routing has made it an ideal software for complex projects. Additionally, the customer service and support provided with the subscription have been excellent. Any issues or questions have been promptly addressed by knowledgeable staff. While GeoHEC-HMS is a powerful tool, it does have a few minor drawbacks. The software tends to slow down when handling larger datasets, which can be frustrating during extensive projects. Additionally, there have been occasional glitches where the software modifies data unexpectedly when saving work. These issues are relatively infrequent but can disrupt workflow. Despite these kinks, GeoHEC-HMS remains a highly effective and valuable tool for hydrological modeling. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

GeoHECHMS is a huge timesaver. It automates many of the features within HEC-HMS. It's hard to imaging determining a NRCS (SCS) curve number (CN) in a matter of minutes, no matter the size of the watershed. But it does! Or checking hundreds of time-of-concentration routes in a watershed to determine the longest flow path in seconds. But it does! It automatically determines the impervious area, vegetative cover, watershed slope, and so much more. Hey, it even determines the watershed limits and breaks it down into sub-watersheds of maximum sizes if you want. It processes LiDAR and creates contour maps. What do I like best? I would say the most unbelievable part is it writes a complete report for you and creates the index - no lie! It's a huge timesaver that is unbelievable. But, their technical support is second to none. They have well qualified engineers answer your request within minutes most of the time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is nothing I dislike about this software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's easy to set up and import a model and it will update all your ras files. Also its compatibility with GIS and CAD files its really good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I think the floodplains sometimes are not all that accurate or similar as you will get using hec-ras directly using the same terrain and cross-sections. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The automation of GeoHECHMS is the best I've seen for hydrologic modeling software. Surfaces and aerials can be directly imported. Connection to national databases makes land use, Curve Numbers, rainfall intensity almost instant. Drainage areas, paths and curve numbers are automatically delineated for existing conditions. Dentention area features could be improved Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
GeoHECRAS provides seamless integration with Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This integration allows for more intuitive visualization and analysis of hydraulic modeling data. The user-friendly interface and advanced spatial analysis capabilities make it easier to manage and interpret complex stream and river systems. Additionally, its compatibility with existing HEC-RAS models enhances workflow efficiency and accuracy in hydrologic studies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
GeoHECRAS may require good computing resources, especially when dealing with large or complex datasets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Many of the models I have worked on have been for bridge and culvert replacement, the preloaded load culvert parts make it extremely efficient to create multiple scenerios and anaylze the results from different hydraulic opening quickly and accurately. Additionally being to load CAD files in the model is helpful to check dimensions, assign cross sections from polylines and add quickly update surfaces when survey data is available. Just like with any software there are bugs and glitches that sometimes occur when using built in features. However, the support team of CivilGEO is extremely responsive in answering questions and pathcing bugs and glitches when they are noticed by users. I hope that updating the software after the CivilGEO team addresses the bugs will be more streamlined. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
