I like the additional features that are not in HEC RAS like FEMA info, stream stats info, and the best thing I like is how easily I can cut cross-sections in GeoHECRAS and modify them. In HEC-RAS modifying cross-sections was a big task. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes I encounter a bug in the software but nothing that affects the result. If there are any technical problems, I always contact their technical support who are very friendly and helful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The convenience of mapping floodplains to the existing and or proposed surfaces through the software, the ease of importing and exporting the HECRAS modeling files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Managing the mapped flood lines can be a bit clumsy, sometimes when generating a new floodline the software will overwrite an old map or put it in the wrong folder if you're not careful about naming. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The ability to combine multiple types of data (CAD, GIS, etc.) in a seamless interface is a huge advantage. The software is very easy to use and intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
On very rare occasions, we have had difficulty importing some LIDaR /DEM data sets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Integration with other platforms, and it accounts for scenarios and structures. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The licensing does require you to check out a license every 30 days. Its helpful in multi-user situations, but tedious for a single user. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Geo HECRAS is intuitive and user friendly. The level of support received is by far the best in the industry. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The price can be prohibitive for some. But the time savings are worth it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I have been working with HEC-RAS since 2002 and GeoHECRAS since 2015. We heavily use the GIS and CAD capability built into GeoHECRAS. The software allows us to overlay our CAD files into the modeling software. By generating flood lines and RAS model linework in GeoHECRAS, they are more accurate and precise. A modeler can export the linework into CAD files for project design. Bringing soil maps, watersheds, and terrain models directly into the models has resulted in increased efficiency. The only dislike is that sometimes my flood modeling team will make revisions to entire sections instead of just the areas that changed. It would also be nice to create custom CAD template files for exporting CAD files from GeoHECRAS based on internal company standards. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The most helpful thing in using GeoHECRAS is the training. Your training is based on a real project, recorded and sent to you for future reference. Each time I start a new project, I always have the training session pulled up so view as a guide. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There really isn't much negative I can say about the software. It's easy to use and very user-friendly. I was a little intimidated in the beginning but soon became comfortable with the program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The combination of ArcGIS, CAD, and HEC-RAS functionality creates a very user-friendly interface. The tools used to create initial model geometry are fantastic! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are some occasional bugs with the software but even with the workarounds, it's an incredible time-saver on projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
