GeoHECHMS has all the USGS resources at your fingertips as the program creates layers used to create accurate modeling for large watersheds. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The tutorials are not as helpful as they could be. Specific situations are not addressed in the videos. Thankfully the tech help has been wonderful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The program feels very optimized, with very few major errors. I like that when there are modeling errors, a very concise information window appears, suggesting what likely caused said error and how to fix it. For example, not only does it simply say some vertices may be causing an error in a cross-section, it will specifically highlight the exact coordinate of the vertices in question. I've had the occasional issue with generating terrain from certain surfaces, but the software offers multiple options when assigning a terrain to a model. I've found using a different data source produces the results I need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The software is great for visualizing streams in the real world with aerial imagery and creating cross sections based on LiDAR data for accurate modeling of floodplains and floodways. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Making duplicates of different cross sections/scenario features can be troubling sometimes but overall is relatively easy to do. Over time I think this will get easier and become more seamless. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The best part about GeoHECRAS is the user interface and how it integrates various tools and procedures required to complete a hydraulic model. Using the standard HEC-RAS would take much longer to set up certain parts of the model. GeoHECRAS streamlines a lot of the setup and makes it easier to start looking at results. There are various bugs/issues that we've encountered while working on our models, which have cause some minor delays. GeoHECRAS is always quick to respond and address our issues though. The other minor issue is the amount of computer memory/RAM that the program uses. If you're using a drafting software (AutoCAD) and GeoHECRAS at the same time, things can get bogged down and sometimes crash the program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
GeoHECRAS "stream"lines our modeling, and provides tools and services that far exceed what our capabilities have been in the past with stream and floodplain modeling. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I would be interested to see more features regarding drawing cross sections and automatic sections that follow the contouring. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
GeoHEC-HMS is a user friendly program that will save you a great deal of time! If you ever have any issues or questions, the customer service team is very responsive and helpful! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are not any features that I do dislike. The program works great and is a time saver, Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Installation and network setup was very easy to configure. The best part is the support that we used to get the initial setup. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We do not have any issues that could be improved with GeoHECRAS. Everything set up and was ready to use very easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Ease of use and coordination with our drawing in civil 3d. Their customer service crew is first class. They are always there to help with any questions that we may come across when using the program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing comes to mind regarding items that we dislike about the program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
GeoHECRAS has a very user-friendly interface that allows the user to become comfortable with the software in a timely manner. It also has helpful features and tools that HEC-RAS is not capable of. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
In my experience, I found it challenging to georeference a model and was required to continue referencing the original HEC-RAS model to determine coordinate system information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Using GeoHECRAS and GeoHECHMS with similar interfaces makes training and becoming productive much quicker. The availabilty of GEOHECHMS staff to answer questions and address problems is amazing. The ability to import so many different types of information and use them concurrently is very helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes the placement of command icons is not the most intuitive, but they are consistent.
It usually takes a while for GeoHECHMS to include the latest version of HECHMS. For those of us who want it NOW, it is a minor inconvenience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
