You have no idea how much a PR cost unless you explicitly ask for it when you submit it. You have to manually review your contact - There is no transparency about the cost. A PR I was about to send was 480 words where in my contract, it's stated it's 400 words. I have been asked $280 for the extra words but there is absolutely no indication of what is included in my contract. Same is true for picture ($400 PER picture and NOT mentioned in the interface) - This service was designed in the 90s. You need to manually call a representative when you need anything. I am also a Cision user, so in some ways, that worked out well. The first issue is their fault -- they have rigorous permissions in place to ensure that companies do not falsely promote M&A activity. This is great, to a point, but if you put out a lot of press releases in this arena, it is incredibly difficult to manage and can really slow down release dates. Once the release is posted, I like the fact that you recieve an email notification, and after a few days, you then recieve a follow up email with metrics showcasing how the press release is performing (in terms of reach, etc.) And as a side note, PR Newswire has great customer service.
