What do you like best about Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense Virtual (formerly NGFWv)?

Love the command line interface and logging. The logging is very useful for when issues are happening. Also the command line enables a lot of features and options for scripting when you have multiple firewalls. The pricing and product features are straight forward. VPN support and routing support were useful Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense Virtual (formerly NGFWv)?

Out of the box does not have as many features as a Sonicwall or WatchGuard. The GUI, which can be enabled for users without command line knowledge, is slow and not always helpful when adding rules. Code and how you do NAT and fire walling changes drastically between versions and can be confusing when going between multiple firewalls, like in a MSP Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense Virtual (formerly NGFWv):

What do you like best about Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense Virtual (formerly NGFWv)?

The firewall cisco is an established product in the market and therefore very stable. It has a solid network distribution and so it is very simple to renew service support contracts. Their TAC (support team) have a great knowledge of the product and always we received good support . Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense Virtual (formerly NGFWv)?

To be quite popular, the product is highly targeted, including by government teams (eg NSA case with modified ASA firmware). Other manufacturers are investing in products that can act in various application layers, providing better visibility of the network. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense Virtual (formerly NGFWv)?

For the application itself, it gets the job done. Its a failry light client and most users wont be bothered by it/notice it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense Virtual (formerly NGFWv)?

During some windows updates, it will stop the application from running on some users machines. You will have to go in and set to run as administrator and at a previous version of windows. This was poorly looked at and caused alot of un-needed support calls. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense Virtual (formerly NGFWv)?

I like that I can access my desktop and other various applications through a non-work computer (my home computer, in-laws computer if I'm on vacation). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense Virtual (formerly NGFWv)?

Through various updates it seems that some of the buttons don't function as well as others - this may be an internal IT issue, but for example I have 4 or 5 options for a remote desktop, but only one of them actually works. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense Virtual (formerly NGFWv)?

Our company relies on security and uptime. We have had many trials and all have failed, except Cisco.

Firewalls are built to last and can withstand a vigorous heavy stress test.

Compatibility and upgrading to different models is always available. configuring can be a little tricky but the command line and interface features makes it a little bit easier, just will need help. nevertheless, support is always a phone call away or also i found guides helpful.

I like that their support is the on top with assistance if ever needed. Parts ordered and installed at moments notice without any delays or issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense Virtual (formerly NGFWv)?

In the end, cost is always a factor but when it comes to hardware, software and reliability. Basically you get what you pay for. I would like to see it come down a notch when it compares to others.

Hardware is not cheap. some extra features always on next negation, so upgrading to new model can't become a pain. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense Virtual (formerly NGFWv):

In my opinion, its the best. Hardware and software is leading when it comes to cisco. Many features always available, but i have to admit, cost is always a factor. Pricy but thats normal when your know its best in the long run.

Support is great, and i have to admit, the late wee hours can be a little out sourced, but am afraid, what isn't these days.

Cisco, offers many products from customer home products to business high end equipment. so its here to stay and worth investing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense Virtual (formerly NGFWv) solving and how is that benefiting you?

keeping up with demand and ensuring/fortifying security is always our goals. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
