## Cisco Secure Client Reviews
  ### 1. Secure as it says!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 21, 2021

**What do you like best about Cisco Secure Client?**

Easy installation and setup. Initial setup might take time but after setup it's easy to connect to organization's VPN. Automatic network detection when your preferred n/w is not in range or doesn't work. Also it keeps reconnecting on its own when the n/w is back. Makes company's life easier during these virtual times and long WFH times.

**What do you dislike about Cisco Secure Client?**

Reconnection needed after every 12 hrs or so. It is a little inconvenient, as we need to reconnect using a passcode. But I guess that's what makes it secure and we need to reconnect to it often to ensure secure connectivity. Apart from that I don't think there is anything else to dislike as it's the only VPN connectivity app I've used in both my organization provided laptop as well as my client's laptop.

**What problems is Cisco Secure Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Makes WFH secure and reliable with VPN connectivity. It solves organizational problems with maintaining secure connectivity to their laptops while employees work from home.

Like most mobility clients, it sometimes tends to disconnect when internet connectivity isn't strong. Signing back in multiple times can be frustrating, but the only fix to this would be a stronger internet connection.

I am keeping my workstation and documents protected when using public and private internet; this increases the overall security of confidential company data. It also lets me use specific applications that only work with a secured internet connection.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel A. | Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2021

**What do you like best about Cisco Secure Client?**

Cisco Anyconnect has a great unified experience across all major platforms: Windows, Mac OS, and Linux (Ubuntu).

Their software is fast, secure, intuitive, and not intrusive. It is also compatible with open source solutions, making it a great tool for Engineers.

**What do you dislike about Cisco Secure Client?**

The only downside I can think of is when there are connection issues.
The connection sometimes drops and it does not auto-reconnect if you move between networks or going to different offices.
Sometimes the connection is just killed due to idleness (if your computer hibernates or sleeps).

And when this happens, the UI and network are unusable for some time (minutes) until it fully disconnects OR reconnects.

Ideally, there should be a solution for these issues that do not require user attention and interaction, like verifying the network and reconnecting or disconnecting on the background.

**Recommendations to others considering Cisco Secure Client:**

Cisco Anyconnect is compatible with open source tools in Linux, which is a lifesaver for engineers that prefer to use Ubuntu instead of macOS or Windows.

**What problems is Cisco Secure Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The enterprise has secure services that are not available on the public internet. Those services can only be accessed from the known network from a valid user and device.

Wise IT team deployed Cisco Anyconnect Secure Mobility Client to ensure secure access by all employees to those services.

The easy-to-use interface, once the software is installed on the connecting or host personal computer is really appreciable.

  ### 25. VPN For Secure Connection Anywhere

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Facilities Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2022

**What do you like best about Cisco Secure Client?**

As someone who works from home full-time out of state from my corporate office. This VPN software is critical to help me perform my duties.

**What do you dislike about Cisco Secure Client?**

I would like an icon on my desktop instead of only accessing it from my toolbar

**What problems is Cisco Secure Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Definitely solving the problem of being able to connect to my company's database while being out of state. So helpful!

  ### 26. Slow client, lacks basic features

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pranav A. | Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2021

**What do you like best about Cisco Secure Client?**

It is a stable client mostly. It doesn't crash or get stuck while running.
It also remembers previous choices decently well. For example, you don't have to choose the region to connect with every time.

**What do you dislike about Cisco Secure Client?**

The client is very-very slow to start up
Often loses connectivity to specific domains
Loose integration with 2-factor authentication. e.g., one needs to type 'push' to get a push notification. An ideal VPN client would run in the background, with no intervention necessary. This one is far from it. It pops up once every few hours and needs reconnection.

**Recommendations to others considering Cisco Secure Client:**

I am not aware of other products available for this other than the Juniper Pulse secure client. This one is a little more preferable to Pulse.
One thing that will make using this a lot better will be integrating 2-factor authentication better. Currently, one has to type push to get a push notification. It would be better if that were not necessary, and one could configure it always to send a push notification.

**What problems is Cisco Secure Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a client to connect to corporate virtual private networks. I have been using it on a mac, and find it to be stable for use mostly. It seems to be slightly better than the Juniper Pulse client, but not by a lot.

**What do you like best about Cisco Secure Client?**

It works on my MAC OS computer very well and doesn't utilize some unsupported channel like PPTP. Highly recommended to work in conjunction with Duo (dual-factor authentication)

**What do you dislike about Cisco Secure Client?**

Updating your MacOS may break the client. Check with your administrators before updating your OS.

**What problems is Cisco Secure Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have had issues where external VPN users would share their credentials with other persons. With 2FA, we can prevent unauthorized access and have better control over the management of the accounts.

  ### 37. Very Protected Network - Cisco Any Connect Secure Mobility Client

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sudip G. | Senior System Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 09, 2021

**What do you like best about Cisco Secure Client?**

It enables users to connect to organization's secured network. It is a network security manager, which provides a high level visibility to the IT admin team to monitor and regulate inbound connections. In this work from home times, particularly in a big IT organization like where I work, it is imperative for all users logging in to organization network from open internet to connect via VPN tunnel. In office off shore development centers, host machines used to be connected physically to the organization's internal network, but cisco any connect has enabled organizations to allow users connect remotely from any part of the globe. Cisco any connect enables the IT admins to create and customize dedicated tunnels for user connections in the mother organization's network. Cisco any connect is ISO compliant. It provides a seamless connectivity access to users. It is very easy to use, with respect to its competitors its usability is very high.

**What do you dislike about Cisco Secure Client?**

There aren't many issues to complaint about, except one very generic one. User need to have a good internet connectivity, while using mobile internet it may not connect. Though cisco any connect is very light weight and consumes very less resource (RAM, and CPU) but after connecting to a VPN through Cisco any connect the internet connectivity speed drops significantly. Another feature which is a bit time consuming during the connection initiation is hostscan, this hostscan feature often creates a time lag.

**What problems is Cisco Secure Client solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cisco any connect is being used and enforced by my organization to give a enterprise level risk protection. We often call cisco any connect VPN as Very protected Network in among our team members, due to its reliability and robustness. We schedule policy compliance enforcement of the host machine, web inspection. It is also used as a malware protection tool. The support team of cisco is renowned for their service. Any patching or policy upgrade requires very less down time or lag.
