**What do you like best about Checkr?**

What I like best about Checkr is how fast and easy it makes the whole background check process. It’s very straightforward to use, and I can quickly see where each candidate is in the process without having to chase updates. It also saves a lot of time compared to more manual methods, which really helps keep things moving during hiring.

**What do you dislike about Checkr?**

One thing that could be improved is the level of detail and clarity in some reports—sometimes they require a bit of extra review or interpretation. It would also be helpful to have more flexibility with notifications and status updates, so it’s easier to stay on top of changes without checking the platform manually.

Overall it works well, but a bit more transparency and customization would make it even more efficient.

**What do you like best about Checkr?**

Checkr is very easy to use and requires minimal effort from the HR side. Most of the background check process is handled on their end, including compliance and candidate communication. Everything is clearly tracked in the system, which makes this step of hiring feel smooth and low effort.

**What do you dislike about Checkr?**

There is limited flexibility or customization in some cases, and you mostly have to follow their standard processes. When delays happen, there isn’t always much visibility into what’s causing them. Pricing can also add up depending on the volume and types of checks needed.

**What problems is Checkr solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Checkr simplifies and speeds up background checks during the hiring process. It helps ensure compliance while reducing manual work and back and forth with candidates. The process is clear for both HR and candidates, results come faster, and everything is easy to track in one place. This makes hiring move quicker and removes a lot of stress from the background check stage.

**What do you like best about Checkr?**

After using multiple services over 25 years in HR, Checkr has the most thorough, accurate, easy to read, cost effective, and timely turnaround of any background checking company I've used.

**What do you dislike about Checkr?**

The only downside to Checkr is that if there are any discrepancies in the background report, they close out the report before I can submit supporting documentation from a potential new hire and so I have to re-run the report, pay for it again to be able to submit supporting documentation to address the "red flag" the found that says to "review."  When I contacted Customer Service asking why they close out the report before having a chance to submit supporting documentation for the item needed to be reviewed, they said it was just what they do and I have to run the report again.

**What problems is Checkr solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We run a VERY thorough background check on all potential new hires due to the confidential nature of some of our projects in the maritime industry. Employees will be privy to projects that require they have a clean record so they can drive a company vehicle, access military sites/vessels, have access to a company credit card, and be able to board high profile yachts.

It was super easy to set up and integrate with our other systems. We use it in connection with our Planning Center account, and it makes it simple to ensure all of our volunteers and staff receive regular background checks. The information we receive is easy to decipher, clearly presented, and well organized.

I find the Checkr system user-friendly and easy to navigate. Being in HR, where the goal is to move efficiently and accurately, Checkr makes this an easy process. It also integrates with Paylocity with ease.

**What do you dislike about Checkr?**

I received a significantly increased bill due to several unknown fees. There were several county fees, and we had a plan that was not comprehensive for our bulk background checks. However, Checkr was able to change our contract and lower the rates per background check.

I use Checkr for running background checks to ensure employees meet our guidelines for prehire and continued employment. The system is user-friendly and easy to navigate, making HR processes efficient and accurate.

I like that Checkr integrates into our ATS and reports come back quickly. The process is easy as applicants are sent a link automatically from our system, so we don't have to manually input information. It makes ordering checks simple and helps us stay in compliance. The initial setup was very easy.

Sometimes there are holds on certain people's background checks if they need to complete more than one within a 30-day time frame.

I find Checkr eases ordering checks and info submission for applicants, ensuring compliance. It integrates with our ATS, sending links automatically so no manual input is needed, and delivers quick report turnarounds.

**What do you like best about Checkr?**

I appreciate the ability to see clear insights into the background checks. It was relatively easy to set up with just an API key. Checkr integrates with Lever and Drata, which is important to us.

**What do you dislike about Checkr?**

The support for Checkr is virtually useless or nonexistent. You can't reach anyone via phone since they don't provide phone support. Almost all support is outsourced, meaning most of the time, chat support results in an 'escalation' because the chat support person isn't equipped to handle issues. Recently, a background check was at a standstill, and I had to reach out multiple times first to be told, everything was working as usual and to be patient. After a third follow up, I was finally told it needed to be re-ordered because of an error based on candidate input which could have been caught weeks prior.   Another issue is with document verification; a candidate uploaded clearly doctored documents which were approved by the reviewers. When I reached out, support had to escalate, and eventually, I was told they do not review documents for fraud. There's also no transparency into how 'cleared by internal review' works. Too much of the support is outsourced or unhelpful.

I really like that the Checkr experience is intuitive for our candidates to use. The platform supports a lot of customization and rule building, which means our team can spend less time administering prehire requirements like criminal background checks. I also appreciate the data analytics available, as it helps us gain better insight into how our program is running and the decisions being made regarding background checks and TB tests.

I would like to see some additional workflow options built into Checkr or more granular data sent through the Checkr API to other systems so that we can better leverage external workflows.

I find Checkr's platform to be incredibly user-friendly and modern, particularly in comparison to other drug screen platforms I've seen before. The support we received during integration, onboarding, and going live exceeded our expectations. The integration with Workday Recruiting has worked well so far. The initial setup was very easy, with the Checkr team doing most of the heavy lifting, and the people we partnered with during setup were really fantastic.

I like that Checkr is really easy to use and integrates well with my applicant tracking system and our security systems. It's really straightforward and quick, making it easy for me to do the work. The integration with Greenhouse and other systems helps keep our security system updated without manual intervention, which I really appreciate. Also, the initial setup was very easy, like plug and play.

I like Checkr for its ease of use, especially since the volunteer can enter their own information and give consent, so I don't have to chase them for details. I just need to enter the volunteer's email, and Checkr handles the rest. The background checks come back quickly, which is really convenient. Switching from MinistryWorks was great because Checkr offers a more thorough background check, is easier to use, and is more cost-effective. The initial setup was very easy too.

It integrates with Rippling - our HR platform. It makes it extremely easy to hire someone and have a background check automatically generate. It is also very simple to review.

It excludes a credit check portion - which is something that we ultimately needed and causing us to use two separate background check platforms.

It benefits us by saving time! We don't need to go to a separately platform unless we need to review a background check - in which case, the link is provided for us to take us straight into checkr to review further. This makes it super simple to get our new folks onboarded in a timely manner.

It takes me less than 30 seconds to initiate a background check, and then the applicant gets a notification to enter their personal information, which saves me from added administrative work. The initial setup and implementation of Checkr was also extremely easy.

Turnaround times can sometimes be slow, and customer service sucks. No dedicated customer success manager if you don't spend a certain amount of money, and you are forced to chat with an AI bot. When I've actually spoken to their human customer support team, they haven't been much more helpful.

Our team has encountered significant challenges using Checkr’s international background check services, and unfortunately, the experience has raised serious concerns about reliability and customer support.

Key issues:

Lack of Proactive Communication: When a background check was initially suspended, no notice or explanation was provided. The candidate was not informed that additional information was needed, and we were left guessing what went wrong. No communication made leading up to the suspension.

Inaccurate Support Guidance: Support misidentified the candidate’s country of origin, (Kept referring to Belarus as Belgium) and referred us to incorrect procedures, and failed to address the underlying cause of the issue. This led to us resubmitting the same check without any improvement in outcome.

Inability to Resolve Internal Errors: The same background check was suspended twice. Despite Checkr being the one to suspend it, we were told it could not be reversed. At no point did anyone take ownership or provide a viable path forward.

No Follow-Up or Escalation: After reaching out for over a month — including multiple requests for an ETA — we received no updates, no resolution, and no credits for failed checks, althought working with a support agent who claimed that they were not getting anywhere with their internal engineering team for a resolution.

At this point, our only recourse to hold off payment. This situation has demonstrated that Checkr’s international capabilities are not only limited but unsupported by a responsive or accountable support structure. After reaching out to their billing team, we were once again redirected to the original support agent who never resolved our issue and never responded to our email.

If your organization operates globally or requires dependable customer service, we recommend evaluating alternative vendors.

Checkr is easy to use and usually fast. We are hiring a lot and have had no issues submitting our requests and building the right package for our company. The candidates have never complained about the system or inputting their information.

The only slight downside I've had is getting in touch with someone in customer service. We had an issue with a county taking a long time to process background checks and Checkr couldn't tell us what the issue could be. Someone in quality control to catch those patterns and assess could be helpful.

My company's insurance provider requires us to run Motor Vehicle Reports for anyone who is driving on set. I love that I just need to send an email and Checkr collects all of the sensitive info. Also, the reports process so quickly which is great because we sometimes get super last min drivers. I like the new updates where you can bulk add a bunch of email addresses!

Sometimes the reports are hard to decipher, and it isn't available for Pennsylvania.

Checkr integrates well within our ATS. The UI is also very intuitive. We have hundreds of background packages and they are able to accomodate them. Their customer support is very responsive.

Sometimes when needing to reorder occupational health screenings it can be a bit clunky. We have clients with a large number and it only allows 5 at a time. The communication with TB results is lacking as well.

Checkr integrates with the application system we use, so it's easy for our applicants and us as administrators. It's affordable, the interface is intuitive and the email customer service is always very prompt if I have questions.

Checkr is so incredibly easy to use! I love the packages available and the custom packages you can create. The turnaround time is always super fast, which has reduced our onboarding time and allowed us to get employees started quicker! I would highly recommend Checkr to anyone looking for a new provider.
