Charms has several great features for youth music programs like bands, orchestras, and chorus programs. A great "database" for student records includes parent contact information, instruments, school information, etc.. It also allows us to track volunteer information , including their background check status. Student fee management is also good, and allows online payment through paypal. Recently, they "upgraded" their "skin". While some of it is good, they have been slow to incorporate some needed features, causing us to flip back and forth between the old version and the new. The "accounting" system is great for a booster club but not for an actual nonprofit. The only accounting we do on charms is recording student fees and fundraisers. You can keep track of all people and documents in given organizations (ensembles, in my case), and even use barcodes with specific numbers generated by Charms. These can be scanned to take attendance, check documents in or out, and more. Charms can also keep contact information, help maintain a library of documents in an organized/numerical manner, and provide a calendar for important work-related events. I like that this tool provides a way of organizing a group such as a band or choir. From what I can tell it has all of the features needed from finance to communications. It is a fairly easy way to submit recordings and information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I find it confusing to use as a family. It starts out that I have to remember the school code to get in. I find the security odd that it identifies a user with their password alone. So there isn't a difference between a parent and a student. If you have more than one student it gets more complex. The reporting on finances also can be confusing to see what is actually owed. Charms is nice because it literally holds every piece of data to contact people possible. It is also so user friendly. Both people accessing to put info in, and people looking to send info out can easily follow the clicking instructions to send out messages and Indic effectively.
