It’s also configurable, so we can set it up in a way that makes sense for us and how we work. **What do you dislike about Centric PLM?** I don’t like the recent UI update with the menu on the side; it’s not as intuitive as the previous UI. It would also be great to have a viewer-level license so more teammates could access it without having to pay for a full-price license that they won’t use to its full extent. **What problems is Centric PLM solving and how is that benefiting you?** One source of truth for our product data. We used to store all our product data in BOX, which was difficult to search. It also allowed too many different formats and ways of working, and the same information ended up living in multiple places, which led to mistrust about what was actually correct. Centric gives us a more structured way to work, without putting us under too many restrictions. With our styles being built offline we had to make manual updates every time something changed. With features like 'where used', 'replace', and 'push sections' we can more efficiently control updates and be more accurate. ### 2. I hit walls when I ask if we can remove a certain heading (like "Multi-level placements from the BOM section"). We cannot use some of these reports as a customer facing document because they are not professional looking enough. I would like to explore Document Generator Tool, but no one yet seems to know how it works. Moving through the software at times feels counter intuitive and it is easy to get lost. I think by implementing some UI best-practices as well as adding more visual cues could really benefit the ease of use of the software. In future states I would also like to see a most robust chat/communication tool. We often find ourselves still using email to communicate when long threads are necessary. It's obvious the various modules were developed from the same point of view - in other words, they were NOT all written independently and then cobbled together. If the user understands functionality of one section, they are intuitively able to apply that understanding to other sections. Centric is also exceptional in that the team actively seeks input from their users. They often incorporate user suggestions, which makes Centric that much more usable to the industry. Our implentation was led by an excellent Centric team which made the process quite easy and understandable. The same team helped us to integrate Centic with our existing ERP platform, saving untold hours and increasing accuracy dramatically. Customer support is excellent - whether we have a question OR a system problem, it is typically resolved within two hours. I am in Centric almost all day, every day - and have used several other major PLM systems. Centric PLM is simply the best. **What do you dislike about Centric PLM?** I have a tough time coming up with a downside to Centric PLM. If I had to pick something, I would have to say that a Centric purchase is not inexpensive. In fact, the team is prompt to alert interested parties that Centric may be the most expensive platform - but that it is the best available and is used by many major manufacturers. And they are correct. We paid a little more for Centric as opposed to other systems, but the time savings and increased accuracy have more than offset that increased investment. **What problems is Centric PLM solving and how is that benefiting you?** Centric has dramatically reduced user error because most information is entered once and cascaded to related areas. This is highlighted by integration between our Centric system and our ERP system. Centric is the originator of style and cost information, which is pushed to ERP and beyond (eComm, etc.) Centric is user friendly and has reduced training time needed for new associates. Any spreadsheets, line sheets, special reports, etc. are easily created in Centric and then downloaded, all with "information that was entered once". We no longer need Excel, yay! Centric has greatly increased efficiency because of its excellent ability to allow us to duplicate, copy, track, manage images and documents, track sampling, track sample status, Etc.etc.! ### 17. I can see this really working well for a company that works directly with suppliers and factories on getting their goods made and sold. I also really like the ease of pushing and pulling data using REST API, it makes the integration between the systems seem seamless. **What do you dislike about Centric PLM?** So far, the only thing I have found frustrating is not having access to the data itself. As the tech person responsible for pushing and pulling data into/out of the system it's hard to know where to find what I'm looking for without running multiple requests to the API first. **What problems is Centric PLM solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our main business of comprised of many smaller businesses that all have their own "ways" of doing things. We find that it is faster to use than a previous system that we were in. We specifically like the plug-in/ canvas templates/ and ease in updating the measurement charts. **What do you dislike about Centric PLM?** Initially getting used to navigating the system is difficult. Once we got beyond that the team loved it. There are also a lot of features you just have to figure out and are not included in the initial training. Previously we were using multiple systems. We are also using it for development turnovers, noting all of our information in a canvas. TC customized versions usually have a tonne of errors and each project requires assistance from our configuration manager at least twice. Centric was a bit more reliable and the process was smooth once I got the hang of it. Implementing changes to product which is already released can be done with relative ease. I am not aware of the customer support side since our US counterpart takes care of it. I use the software less frequently since we have not completely moved to Centric. The company is still deciding whether to move completely to centric from our existing PLM. **What do you dislike about Centric PLM?** Integration with design software seems a bit problematic. Also, certain features that were pretty handy in the current PLM are not available. For example, a predictive system for finding the reviewers for a project would be a good addition. It is tough to decide whether Centric would be worth the effort to change our entire project management process, taking into consideration the amount of training and migration that it would require.
