"CaseWare is user friendly and effective"
4/5
What do you like best about Caseware?

The best part about CaseWare is that it requires minimal training; upon starting work as a staff auditor, I was able to easily begin using the software with minimal direction. However, over the course of two years I am still learning tricks/shortcuts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Caseware?

The latest update to the software no longer allows you to transfer one tab within Excel to another workbook; it can be resolved but was not simple to figure out. I use this function frequently and have to turn the setting off to do so each time I open CaseWare. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Caseware Working Papers"
4/5
What do you like best about Caseware?

Specialized for audit and assurance engagements, a very powerful document manager and project tracker that allows teams to embed files in a document tree and track progress through preparer and reviewer sign-offs. All within one easy to access window listing all the files included. It allows collaboration through multiple users being able to access the same project file at once, including over networks. The program itself is very responsive with little delays if working through an intranet or local storage. The compression feature allows all the documents in the file to be packaged into a single, smaller file for easy transfer through email, removable storage, etc. The file can be locked down once it has been completed. It also allows a sign-out or check-out feature of either the entire file or individual files for working offline or away from the master file, and the files can be signed back in at a later date. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Caseware?

As multiple users enter into a single project file, they can each edit separate embedded files but usually cannot collaborate on the same file at once. Multiple users will also slow the program down significantly, to the point of being unusable if over an internet connection. The program is also more of a file manager than file storage, meaning the files listed in the main window are only links to the actual files. Files can be deleted outside of CaseWare Working Papers and thus the links will break. There is also a chance for corruption when using the compression feature as well as when transferring or working remotely through a network connection; the program does not appear to have a fail safe for network disconnects in mid-transfer. "Easy to use for tax accounting and returns."
4/5
What do you like best about Caseware?

I like that Caseware allows accountants to easily import and export information. The process of importing a trial balance and preparing journal entries is easy. It is also easy to rollover the file from year to year and to track information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Caseware?

I dislike that each version of Caseware results in buttons located in different areas. There are certain aspects that are not user friendly. There are also several ways of doing different processes, which can confuse new users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Caseware working papers is an excellent document management and accounting software."
4/5
What do you like best about Caseware?

Caseware working papers makes is easy to complete any kind of accounting assurance engagement; from Basic to complex. Features which work well include: trial balance import, general ledger reports, consolidation, mapping and leadsheets, adjusting journal entries, bookkeeping features, and year end close. My Company (large public practice accounting firm) has used Caseware for a very long time and it continues to serve our needs well.

My firm used Caseware trial balance reports to discuss with our clients their financial results and the adjustments necessary for tax and other purposes. Those reports function well for our needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Caseware?

Caseware is a very complex software and has numerous features, it takes time to understand how to use everything. To aid in learning how to use the software Caseware International had created a series of how to guides which my firm utilized. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A very effective system for file organization, but a bit bogged down"
2.5/5
What do you like best about Caseware?

The way you are able to lay out files in Working Papers is great—you can see things in the way that is most intuitive, in a drop down format that you can't in normal Windows (or Mac) Explorer (Finder). It's very easy to re-order, assign references, rename, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Caseware?

There are a LOT of features packed in that are not necessary for a lot of day to day users who use it mainly for file organization. These can bog it down and also get in the way. It's a trade-off to the fact that it's relatively customizable and has a lot of options/features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Very difficult to learn product"
0.5/5
What do you like best about Caseware?

I like the finished product that Caseware provides when data has been entered correctly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Caseware?

The interface is not user friendly at all. Each time I open this software I spend more time trying to figure out how to use it correctly than I spend actually completing whatever task I have at hand. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
