The thing I like best about caseware is the way that it lines up with other programs such as gosystems and CCH. It does a great job of integrating the process between workpapers and turning them into a usable tax return for your clients. You can export the information easily and you can turn the trial balances into PDFs which is great for moving it between different storage applications. Additionally, it's very flexible in that it's integrated with many other applications and allows for you to work with your business depending on your needs and the needs of your client. As a tax accountant, I use Caseware’s system for certain aspects of my work, such as trial balances. Caseware’s IDEA software is one of the best accounting programs out there for auditing, data discovery and visualisation purposes. The program allows us to effectively present results, anomalies and trends to the companies we audit, for example, and improves the client’s experience, by reducing time spent on data reformatting, due to its data analysis features. The tutorials on how to use the program are very helpful. It helps a lot if you work through the tutorials and practice getting to know the software. This will make it much easier when utilizing the program for real life scenarios. Also, I am able to use it on my Mac (after installing Microsoft though VirtualBox) which is much more convenient than having to find a Microsoft compatible computer. This program takes a while to get used to. It was extremely confusing at first and very glitchy. Also, I wasn't able to get it to download properly on my Windows 10 computer, so I had to go a round about way to have it installed on my Mac. This took quite a bit of time and patience to get it working. Now that it's downloaded, it works properly for the most part, but there are still some issues with compatibility here and here. Even my partner didn’t know how to use Caseware effectively. My friend told me that her firm uses some functions of caseware that my firm doesn’t know how to use. Caseware allows employees to access the same file at the same time and allows changes made to be synchronized so all users can see the changes.
