## Canto Reviews
  ### 1. Canto is excellent for organizing photography

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sam F. | Digital Media Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2019

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Love the ability to keyword and tag all of our photography, then search through thousands of photos quickly and easily. Also the ability to select a few photos and make a link to just those photos that I can send to people is something I use almost every day. The facial recognition is outstanding - it makes it so easy to track down a specific person in thousands of photos.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

I love using the platform that we have access to, but it seems that any updates or improvements are all behind paywalls. I've been invited many times to webinars on exciting new features only to find out at the end that it's going to cost us more money. It would be nice if some of those features were also provided to legacy users.

**Recommendations to others considering Canto:**

We use this product every day and the search functionality and image tagging has been a game changer for us, but I think the support has been the best thing. Quick, accurate responses to any problems we have.

We've had a fantastic overall experience and use it across multiple departments to store and share 10s of thousands of assets.

However, Sometimes the quality of the preview photo on Canto can be less than the photo actually is, meaning that you arent quite sure if a photo is slightly blurry or not until you download it.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It makes my job so much easier than if I just had to search through hard drives and remember where everything was like I used to. It's also easy to use for other team members, so with a very small amount of training anyone is able to use it and it really cuts down on requests for photos coming to me as people can do it themselves.

  ### 2. Canto Streamlines Asset Sharing Despite Integration Hurdles

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kelly D.

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Canto?**

I use Canto as a digital asset tool for my organization, and it really helps us by allowing our entire organization to see images, graphics, and access marketing materials that were previously siloed to just the marketing team. Now, we can share it with everyone. The portals are a very cool way to share assets with both external people and internally with the team. Sharing brand materials with other organizations and images internally with teams has become easier. The initial setup of Canto was easy too.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

I don't like the workspaces and integrations. They don't work for us. I also don't like how unless you purchase more user seats consumers can't access workspaces or out of the infinite number of consumers we CAN have we CAN'T reduce that number to allow for more power seat users to use those features without paying more. It kind of sucks that in order to let users have access to features they need to be a power seat user and pay more.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto allows our entire organization to access images and marketing materials, breaking down silos. The portals are a cool way to share assets internally and with external parties, making sharing brand materials effortless.

  ### 3. One Central Hub for Digital Assets That Keeps Teams Consistent

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan O. | Desktop technical support engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto gives us a single place to store all our digital assets—images, videos, documents, and brand files—which makes it easier to maintain consistency across teams and avoid duplication.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

In my opinion, the biggest downside of Canto is the licensing cost.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It centralizes all digital assets in one organized hub. With metadata, tags, and AI search, files become instantly findable when you need them. The main benefits are faster workflows, less duplication, and the confidence that teams always know where the “source of truth” lives.

  ### 4. Canto Makes Content Sharing Across the Organization Effortless

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto has made it easy for our company to store and share content across the organization, even if they aren't users in the platform. I love that we can easily share internal files through the share link and has become a frequently used feature for us.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The only downside for us is the pricing. We love the features but are constrained by a tight budget and have to use the storage we have strategically.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to tag and store large amount of content across multiple brands. We often have a hard time tracking approved assets and keeping them organized by brand with easy search features.

  ### 5. Easy to Use with Great Search and Partner Sharing

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James W. | Communications Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2026

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Easy to use, plus great search functions and sharing for partners.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Learning curve in the beginning, took us some training to get it working, also growing costs to per-seat model.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves where to store our high-resolution digital photos, don't have to serach for images or event photos, easy for photographers to upload

  ### 6. Efficient Asset Management, Great to use for big companies, Though Pricey Compared to Competitors

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

This tool has saved me a lot of time when searching for various marketing photos. The tagging system is especially helpful, keeping everything well-organized and easy to locate. I also find it very useful for sharing assets with both coworkers and members of our school community.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

I think the price is somewhat higher than I would expect, especially since other DAM platforms provide many of the same features. However we did get a great deal that kept it in our budget so I'm thankful for the sales team working with us to find a fair price.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This tool is a real time saver when searching for marketing materials. It's also an excellent way to showcase our work.

  ### 7. A good asset management system

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Media Production | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The AI facial recognition is really helpful and the search function is great.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The cost of having more than 3 power seats is a lot. I do not like the new interface they trialed. It made simple functions take more clicks than usual. I still keep using the old interface.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto allows us to selectively share albums of photos.

  ### 8. Big step up!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melanie W. | Videographer/Photographer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto is our first DAM for our community college. We previously used Flickr and Google Drive as our asset libraries.

We had lengthy onboarding training which was appreciated. And as I was setting up our library, I appreciated the support team and their quick responses.

We have made heavy use of the custom metadata fields to allow us to filter down assets when looking for something in particular. While it is time intensive to tag the assets from over the last decade as we put them into the library, the payoff is when we are searching the assets.

There is an AI search available that uses natural language to search your assets, but that is an additional cost and we have not enabled this feature at this time.

There is an SSO option as well that is also an additional cost that we have chosen to not use at this time.

We use the public portal option to share photos with our community and appreciate that the assets are not searchable on the internet, but accessible by anyone with the link to the portal. We also utilize a private portal where we have allowed an outside agency to create accounts as consumer (free) users and give them access to additional assets than what we have in our public portal.

We have also utilized the Style Guide feature to share with our community members, which was previously a PDF. We added in links to templates in Canto and can update the guide easily.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The additional costs for features like SSO and AI search are a downside.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Canto asset library allows us to store all of our assets in one place and make them searchable with tags, metadata and caption files. Previously we used Flickr, Google Drive and a shared drive to store and find assets, which was getting difficult to manage. Videos were not tagged and new employees didn't know what we had other than by looking at a file name and watching through the entire video clip. Canto has helped us save time when developing ads by cutting down on our time spent searching and reviewing assets.

  ### 9. User-Friendly with Excellent Support, But User Limits Can Be Restrictive

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 28, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto is user friendly and they offer excellent support. Canto offers many features to help organize our companies digital assets.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

One drawback of Canto is that it operates as a pick-and-choose package, which comes with a restriction on the number of users.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are currently using Canto to manage our digital assets for PDP, licensing, and brand purposes. It also allows us to store videos, providing a single source of truth for all our assets. This setup enables us to make updates in one central location, ensuring consistency across our materials.

  ### 10. Easy to use and fully featured for a reasonable price

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nikki G. | Marketing Technology Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto has a ton of features while still being affordable. The AI visual search is great, and the platform has been great at streamlining our asset workflows.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Additional user seats are somewhat expensive, which can quickly add cost for larger teams.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As our firm has grown, we quickly saw a need for better creative workflow, brand asset approval and digital asset management within the marketing team and across the firm. Canto has helped us keep approved assets up to date while streamlining the creation of new ones.

  ### 11. Canto review

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adrian B. | Branding and Design artist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto is easy to use and keeps all our digital assets organized in one place. The smart search and tagging features save us a lot of time.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Canto can be pricey and a bit slow with large files. Setup takes time, and integration with other tools isn’t always smooth. A mobile app would also be nice.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto helps us solve the problem of scattered and hard to find digital assets. By keeping everything in one organized, searchable library, it saves us time, improves team collaboration, and ensures brand consistency across all our content.

  ### 12. Prioritizing Payment Over Customer Support: A Frustrating and Disappointing Experience

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam B. | Senior Staff, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The initial sales demo and calls were informative, providing clear answers to our questions.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

As an organization, we made the decision to purchase this subscription under very specific terms, including a delayed implementation start date of January 2024. However, we were pressured by the sales team to sign the agreement before the end of November 2023 due to pricing constraints that would not extend into December.

Despite our clear timeline, an unexpected staff transition in December left us unable to begin implementation as planned. We reached out that same month to request a deferment, knowing that we would not be able to proceed for the first eight months of 2024. That request was ignored until we followed up again in January, at which point we were informed that no adjustments could be made due to the signed contract. Additionally, the original sales representative had left the company, leaving us with no point of contact who had been involved in our initial discussions. This response made it clear that our business was not valued and that there was little regard for building a trusted relationship with us as a new customer.

Despite numerous emails throughout the year, we finally met with an account representative on December 13, who assured us they would explore potential solutions. However, despite multiple prior outreach attempts—starting with an initial email in September—there was no follow-up after that meeting. The only communication we received was an invoice for payment. Even after reiterating that we were still awaiting a resolution, the only response came from the accounts payable department.

Now, after eight weeks of silence, we have finally received a follow-up, only to be offered a mere six-month extension—despite having already paid for an entire year of service that we have been unable to use and demanding another year of payment with no clear path of onboarding or implementation. This offer does not acknowledge the challenges we faced, the lack of communication, or the fact that we have been trying to resolve this issue for months.

We are extremely disappointed by this experience. The lack of responsiveness, inflexible policies, and disregard for customer needs reflect poorly on the company’s commitment to service and support. We had hoped to establish a productive, long-term relationship, but this experience has left us questioning whether this is a company that truly prioritizes its customers.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None at this time. We can't even onboard.

**Official Response from Julie Neumeister:**

> Hi Adam,

We’re sorry for the frustration this has caused and appreciate you sharing your experience. Our team has reached out directly to work on a solution, as we value your business and want to make this right. We know how important clear communication and support are, and we’re committed to improving. Please know we’re here to help and will work with you to find the best path forward.

Thank you,
Julie

  ### 13. Effortless Company-Wide Adoption Makes Work Easier

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Staffing and Recruiting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The ease of use corporate-wide is a huge benefit.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Extra costs for Hubspot integration. Adobe integration isn't as smooth.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto is now our main asset library for our corporate staff to use/access. Instead of rummaging through our OneDrive folders, now they can go directly to that library and access what they need.

  ### 14. Digital Content Management with a touch of AI

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sean S. | Web and Digital Content Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto simplifies digital asset management with an intuitive interface, smart search, and powerful organization tools. It’s perfect for teams needing streamlined collaboration and easy access to brand-approved content.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Can be a bit pricey depending on your needs.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto solves digital asset management challenges by centralizing files, improving searchability, and ensuring brand consistency. This saves time, reduces duplication, and streamlines team collaboration across marketing and creative projects.

  ### 15. Okay DAM,but too much upselling, too little added value

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tulio B. | Marketing Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The software is fairly functional. We used the link feature that allowed many people to upload easily to a "holding file" before we approved photos and added permanently

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Several features are accessed in non-intuitive ways. The more we used it the less intuitive it felt so we had a hard time getting everyone onboard. Paying this much for any software I expected more in terms of added value, but instead all the communications were upselling us on additional features at greater cost.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We wanted all our photos easily searchable. It was somewhat beneficial. The ranking system that Adobe uses (one to five stars) is not meta data so we had a lot of work to do on our end - This is not Canto's fault but reduced our benefit

  ### 16. Cool AI Feature Within Canto

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** JAMES L. | Head of Technology, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

I think Canto's metadata management is strong. We can tag files with keywords, use AI-driven image recognition, and create custom fields, making it easy to quickly find exactly what we need.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

I think the price is on the higher side.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto makes it simple to create branded portals for external users (like media, partners, or clients). Sharing is secure and trackable, and we can control permissions precisely.

**Official Response from Reagan Cola:**

> Hi James! Thanks for highlighting the power of Canto’s metadata tools and AI-driven features. It’s great to hear they’re helping your team work more efficiently and find assets faster. We understand that pricing is an important consideration, and your feedback is appreciated. If you’d like to explore ways to maximize value based on your specific use case, your account manager would be happy to connect. Thanks for being part of the Canto community!

  ### 17. Pretty good DAM, often new features, sometimes a little clunky

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Leisure, Travel & Tourism | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto offers a more organized way to find and organize content

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

There are some limited features and clunky functionalities/interfaces that could be improved.
They also state "no hidden fees" on their website, but placed an unexpected "innovation fee" on our account at time of renewal. After some back and forth, they were willing to remove it, but it was definetly unexpected.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a massive content library so having Canto will allow our team to easily find the content they need, and understand the important info tied to it - such as location of the photo and usage rights.

**Official Response from Maeghan Durbin:**

> Hi there – thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. I’d have to agree that Canto’s platform makes organizing a larger content library much easier- so glad your team has been able to see this benefit. In response to your UX feedback, our product team is actively working on updates that will enhance the user experience in Canto. We will pass this feedback on to our product team as we're always looking for ways we can improve our customers’ experience. Feel free to contact customerfeedback@canto.com at any time if you would like to schedule a call with your account manager to chat about how we can better support you!
-Maeghan

  ### 18. Canto DAM - the heart of all Digital assets

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Frank N. | Deltager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The Canto DAM system serves as our central repository for a diverse range of assets. Initially, it was utilized primarily as a media library for managing images, videos, and technical literature. Now, Canto DAM is evolving into the central hub for all assets, integrating seamlessly with other systems such as PIM (Product Information Management), CMS (Content Management System), and Commerce platforms.

Canto DAM supports our composable strategy, allowing for centralized asset management. All assets are maintained within Canto and updates are automatically reflected across all connected systems.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The contributor limit is sometimes a pain. Adding more contributors is expensive and requires a renew of the contract.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One place to maintain all assets.
