## Canopy Reviews
 ### 1. Streamlined Tax Management with Excellent Support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chelsea C. | Tax Administration Services , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

I like that Canopy is easy to use, and whenever I have a problem, the support team is readily available. It keeps everything organized for clients, and it's easy to upload documents and communicate with team members within Canopy. The task list helps keep the flow going efficiently. The initial setup was very easy, and someone helped with onboarding along with many training videos, which eased the transition.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

I don't like that some things are hard to change or delete. Such as tax organizers or signature documents. You can't do it right on the client profile. Also, I need to learn how to delete old emails and not attach them to certain names because the emails that you originally use are tied to the client's name.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canopy keeps everything organized for clients, makes document uploading and communication easy, and the task list helps maintain efficiency.

 ### 2. Transformative for Firm Management, Seamless Workflow

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gail K. | Business Owner--Jack of All Trades--Head Honcho, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

I really appreciate how Canopy allows us to manage the firm efficiently by keeping everything where it belongs and ensuring that everyone knows the status of tasks and documents. The workflow tools are fantastic, especially the ability to use subtasks within tasks, which greatly enhances our organization. I enjoy the capability to leave notes for each other, as well as placing client documents on the portal to avoid the need for constantly sending out copies of returns. I love that Canopy is always experimenting and trying out new ideas which not only make learning and improving efficiency enjoyable but also take the repetitive data entry off our hands, giving us more time to engage with our clients. I am impressed by how these innovations allow us to save time and communicate more effectively with the team. Switching to Canopy from ATOM was a smart move for us, as it is more dynamic and comprehensive, letting us consolidate various tools into one. I also find it remarkable that, despite implementing it in the middle of tax season, Canopy's setup was manageable, indicating how well it is designed.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

It can feel a little overwhelming at first, because it offers so many solutions. There's so much to learn, and they're constantly adding new features, so it can be challenging to use all the features, especially at first.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canopy centralizes firm management, handling workflows, document uploads, and client interactions efficiently. It reduces data entry tasks, freeing up time for client engagements, and ensures team members have visibility of tasks and client documents without using multiple systems.

 ### 3. Easy, efficient - great for solopreneurs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

I love the dashboard is very intuitive. I was able to get in and start using it almost immediately. The document management system is clear and easy for clients to use, even if they aren't "techy"

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

Sometimes I wish I could make more adjustments to the way things are shared with clients. For instance, I like to use the "questionnaire" format to follow up with document requests because I am able to ask questions and upload documents, but they have usually already received a "questionnaire", so it seems odd that I am sending them another one. That is a specific instance, but things like that pop up that I wish there was slightly more flexibility

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Streamline client communication, tracking requests, organizing all the documents. I also use the timer to be able to start understanding how I am really spending my time

 ### 4. All-in-One Solution That Streamlined Our Accounting Firm

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amy F. | Operations Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

Canopy has proven to be an extremely valuable resource for modern accounting firms. It serves as a comprehensive platform, uniting key features such as client management, document storage, workflow, and billing in one place. One of its standout advantages is how easily it integrates, which simplifies implementation and ensures that every aspect of our firm's operations—from onboarding new clients to processing final payments—runs smoothly and efficiently. As a result, we've seen a noticeable reduction in administrative tasks, allowing us to dedicate more time to serving our clients. And their customer service is the best out there!

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

The one thing that we wish Canopy had is text messaging abilities.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As our firm has experienced significant growth over the past year, Canopy has played a vital role in helping us streamline client communication, manage documents efficiently, and enhance the overall client experience.

 ### 5. Canopy Saves Time with Real-Time Updates and Seamless QuickBooks Integration

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Devin C. | Associate - Tax & Client Accounting Services, Accounting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

It is a great portal for clients to use to upload their documents and provide real time updates for them. It has very good integration tools which link to Quickbooks so the process is instantaneous. It definitely saves time compared to other portals I have seen with lesser tech stacks.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

Not too many issues that we face with Canopy outside of a potential network issue which is out of their control. Even when that happens they do a great job of communicating the issue and letting us know a timeframe for the resolution.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides a portal with the latest tech stacks and AI integrations, which helps us bring more clients into our system while keeping everything organized and easy to manage.

 ### 6. All-in-One Solution That Simplified Our Practice Management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael G. | Managing Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

Complete practice management system that helped us eliminate a multitude of apps and enabled me to sleep at night, knowing that in all phases of our practice - accurate client data, workflow, scheduling, billing, due date monitoring - Canopy handles it all.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

Its robust system requires a lot of initial effort to input data, but once complete, no issues. For now, we are holding off the electronic billing and payment feature pending further analysis; we expect that it will be suitable. The only remaining improvement we are awaiting is the client portal. It is essential that a client can initiate a message to us at any time for any reason, and that function does not currently exist - though I am told this is in development.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It finally enabled me to manage my receivables, which has been a perennial problem. And it helped me better understand who is doing what each day.

 ### 7. Streamlines Client Tasks, But Reporting Needs Improvement

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sarah R. | Executive Accounting Administrator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

We use canopy so smooth out processes within our firm for bookkeeping, tax and advisory services. The client portal is great for clients to have one place to go to view and sign documents along with paying invoices.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

The reporting features are not easy to use. It takes a lot of time to learn how to use the reporting features in order to get the reports our firm wants. I wish the client portal had a built in communication feature. Sounds like it is coming in the future, but at this time that is lacking.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canopy is solving the problem of having everything in one place to help us work towards greater efficiency. Streamlined task management for bookkeeping, tax and advisory services, a record of email communication linked to each client, onboarding, document management including document signatures. What we have not figured out yet is how to see our data reported out in the way we want. The reporting features are in place, but it is a steep learning curve to understand how to use them.

 ### 8. Seamless Firm-Wide Tracking and Effortless Client Experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jade A. | Technical Administrator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

The thing I like the most about Canopy is the seamless tracking throughout the firm. No matter who it is in our firm- admin, preparer, bookkeeper, review- everyone is able to see where we are at in a return, what we still need, and all updates on the return. It has made tracking throughout the year much easier and much more simple and concise than our team has ever seen before. We are able to leave notes for everyone to see which has become one of the most useful parts of Canopy and has cut down our internal communication times by a substantial amount. I also like how easy it is for our clients to use and everything the need is in one place - a place to upload documents, view the returns, and sign documents in one easy app/website. They also have the easiest customer support I have ever used. It quickly replies, is able to decode questions even if they're not asked in a straight forward manner, and provides links to where you can learn about that feature/question in Canopy.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

There isn't much about Canopy that I dislike. I think the only feature(s) that need improving is the ability to customize the task lists and add personalized columns based on a firms needs.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canopy has addressed numerous challenges within our firm, such as streamlining note-taking, call logging, and the tracking of returns and bookkeeping. Additionally, it has centralized our client information, making it accessible in one place for everyone on the team. We no longer have to deal with repeated questions about client entities or the timing of the last follow-up, as all details are clearly documented. The communication feature enables our admin staff to stay updated on any changes to returns or outstanding items, eliminating the need to track down preparers for updates. The client request and e-signature auto reminders have saved our admin team countless hours on follow-ups, allowing them to focus on more urgent tasks. Overall, Canopy has enabled our team to operate more efficiently and smoothly.

 ### 9. All-in-One Solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brandi N. | Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

To me, the most helpful feature of Canopy is the integration. I love that our firm no longer has to use a ton of different software and with Canopy, everything is now in one place. You can create tasks directly from emails, store client info seamlessly, and communicate with the team on a project. All within one website! That's another thing - I really appreciate that all of this info in in the cloud!

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

Going through the set up process has been a little tedious. I wish that Canopy would "communicate" with more software so that transitioning to Canopy could be easier.

I also don't love the email view and wish there was more customization there. For example, I don't prefer to view my emails in "Conversation View", and I organize my email into folders. Adding these features to Canopy would be helpful

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canopy is helping to solve our firm's issue of centralization (everything being in one place), and it's paving the road for us to go paperless.

 ### 10. Improves Practice Management with Room for Growth

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gina T. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

I like that Canopy is constantly evolving with new features, which demonstrates a commitment to improvement and directly benefits my workflow. In particular, the addition of the Engagements feature last year allowed me to consolidate services and save on extra costs. The recently introduced features that facilitate client information requests, along with the automation options, are especially exciting and hold promise for an efficient tax season ahead. Furthermore, the customer support provided by Canopy is commendable, offering reliable assistance when needed. I also appreciate the seamless integration with other tools I use, such as QBO, Odrive, and Office 365, which creates a cohesive and efficient work environment.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

I find the task tracking feature in Canopy to be less robust, as it's currently just a list without more advanced views like Kanban or Gantt. There's also a lack of interactive management options such as drag-and-drop for reassigning tasks or adjusting dates and durations. Additionally, I would appreciate more features related to task presentation, like differentiating between an internal to-do list and a backlog of client work. Another area for improvement is gaining more visibility into team utilization, so I can understand if my team is under or overutilized. The initial setup process was frustrating; the onboarding team imported all 6,000 contacts instead of following my instructions, which only required about 700-800, leading to a time-consuming cleanup process. Finally, I would appreciate a scheduling tool similar to Motion or Sunsama for better task management.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Canopy to stay organized, track tasks, manage deadlines, assign team work, and communicate with clients. It eliminates the need for extra services and automates client information requests, making it invaluable for tax season.

 ### 11. My experience using Canopy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Taylor J. | Administrative Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

What I find most helpful about Canopy is that it serves as a central hub for nearly everything required for managing a client, with the exception of the return software. The client profiles are especially useful, as they consolidate all relevant information in one place. When you open a profile, you can instantly see if a client has any outstanding invoices, the services you provide for them, and who is designated as the client owner. Additionally, the new AI features that Canopy has introduced are impressive and promise to make things much easier for both firms and their clients.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

One thing Canopy could improve is that our firm almost daily has a client tell us that their profile says they no longer exist and they have to log in and log out of their account to fix this.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The first thing that stands out to me is how easy it is to provide clients with copies of their returns or files. With Canopy, making files visible to clients is as simple as clicking a button, instead of having to password-protect documents in Adobe and send them by email. This feature saves a significant amount of time.

Additionally, the automations that Canopy provides for notifying clients about requests or outstanding invoices are also major time savers, as they cut down on the manual effort required to reach out to clients.

 ### 12. Simplified Our Operations and Our Clients Love It

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Oleg G. | Managing Partner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

Canopy has been instrumental in scaling our business by consolidating time tracking, billing, project management, document storage, and communications into a single, efficient platform. The onboarding process was seamless, and their customer support team has exceeded our expectations. We've been particularly impressed with how well the various automations and integrations function together, and the platform's intuitive interface and adaptability have made it invaluable to our workflow. Our clients have enthusiastically praised the system's ease of use and centralized accessibility. Canopy has become indispensable to our day-to-day operations. We're thoroughly pleased with our transition to Canopy and look forward to the new features on the horizon!

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

Some features lack full customization options. The billing functions are not very robust, and ACH transactions take a considerable amount of time to process. You cannot see who receives an invoice or select multiple recipients. Generating insights reports is time-consuming and overwhelming.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canopy has made billing easier by integrating time tracking and billing functions, and by syncing with QBO. This combination has streamlined our billing process.

 ### 13. Comprehensive Features and Fast Transcripts Make Work Effortless

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Contessa C. | Operations Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

I like the numerous features offered: Communication, notes, files, tasks, Resolution Cases, Transcripts, Billing and Time entries. An additional feature that I have is "Organizers" that I have not used just yet. The transcript feature is one of my favorites because it pulls all transcripts quicker than I can via tax pros. The feature gives an account overview, CSED calculations, penalties and interest, payment history, bankruptcy, account transactions and assessment overview. I use all features mentioned daily, but the transcript feature is my favorite. Very easy to use. Ive rarely used customer support, however when I do, I used the chat feature and they are very helpful.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

I have used canopy for almost 3 years. Thus far I dont dislike anything. There are still features that I havent used. It makes work very easy.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canopy is solving the issue of organization. Its very easy to create tasks (work that needs to be done) and assign them out to my colleagues. I know they are working on them because the status changes and there is a feature to add notes about what they have done thus far along the progress of the task.

 ### 14. All-in-One Metrics Integration Makes Workflows Easy

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sarah C. | Accounting Associate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

It is fairly easy to use once everything is set up. I enjoy how firm metrics are integrated into the program so that we can find everything in one place instead of having to use multiple technologies. Now that we have things customized to our firm, it should save us time in the future and fill gaps in our current processes that we were missing.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

There are still several important features missing that our firm needs, and I wish there were more options to customize specific permissions. It's surprising that Canopy doesn't offer greater flexibility in areas like Insights, where it would be helpful to control which types of reports each team member can access. The same issue exists with time entries, WIP reports, and similar features, where more detailed customization would make a big difference. Additionally, the implementation process leaves much to be desired, as it requires significant front-end effort from staff. If you aren't assigned an excellent implementation team, the process can be quite challenging.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to easily integrate our billing, workflow management, metrics, and file management systems into one location instead of having multiple different softwares to manage these features.

 ### 15. Lots of Useful Features but Still Missing Key Ones

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sarah V. | Firm Administrator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

I like that it offers a diverse set of functions so you can do more all in one place and on one platform. I also equally like that the Canopy development team is continuously adding to its features, creating new ones, and listening to its users to help make it better. Continuous improvements are essential in our technically evolving world.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

There are some things that I feel should have been standard from the start that were not. For example, being able to select the recipient, or multiple recipients, to receive an invoice. And, being able to specify which contacts can see which folders or documents on the client portal. Those are already options in other similar software.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They are working on being able to specify what folders contacts can see on the client portal. This is essential. When we found out this was not currently an option during earlier stages of implementation, we almost bailed on it. That's how important this feature is. The two programs we used prior allowed this, we we never thought it could possibly not be available.

 ### 16. All-in-One Solution That Centralizes Everything I Need

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Teddy C. | Tax Accountant, Accounting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

Everything I need is in one, centralized place. If I am working with a business client that owns several companies, I can connect everything with ease. Both personal and business accounts can be connected for ease of navigation for the accountant, and the client can use a single log in to access everything in one menu. I am looking forward to the updates that are rolling out. Having the ability to allow tiered access to managers and other users is gong to be great. I am looking forward to learning to use the AI powered features that have been rolling out.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

The client side of Canopy is too pretty for its own good. Clients seem to get lost in the simplicity of the menu options. Also, clients are only able to see the last 5 documents they have uploaded to their portal without having to do a detailed search for them.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using Canopy has enabled our firm to become more efficient in our work and in our client communications. Canopy is increasingly saving us time across the board.

 ### 17. Outstanding Service, Streamlined Client Management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gena T. | Director of Compliance, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

The clean interface and structured workflow help me stay on top of tasks without feeling overwhelmed. Canopy has truly improved the way I manage my practice by centralizing documents, notes, and communication in one place. It’s a reliable system that keeps me organized and allows me to spend more time focusing on my clients.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

One limitation is the lack of a built-in chat feature for communicating directly with clients. Having real-time messaging would make collaboration much smoother. I also don’t love the way files attach to tasks — once a document is attached, you can’t edit it from within the task itself, which adds extra steps to the workflow. Improving these areas would make the experience even better.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The document management system is clean, intuitive, and helps me stay on top of my workflow. I also really appreciate how simple it is to collect e-signatures — it saves time, reduces back-and-forth, and keeps the entire process streamlined for both me and my clients.

 ### 18. Automates Billing & Tasks, Perfect Fit for CPA Firms

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Oscar S. | Consulting Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2024

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

I find that Canopy's recurring billing feature significantly enhances our company's efficiency by automating invoices and payments, which saves us numerous hours monthly. The system also allows users to save their payment information, streamlining the payment process further. Canopy's task management offers automation in setting up tasks and assigning them to users with clear deadlines, which optimizes our workflow. I appreciate the file organization functionality because it provides our firm and clients with shared access to the same information, ensuring alignment and reducing confusion. The client document exchange is incredibly useful for automating reminders, saving our firm precious time. Additionally, the incorporation of AI features like the Document Checklist and Questionnaire is commendable; these tools help in automating document checklists, thus reducing review time for our staff. Lastly, Canopy's specific design tailored for CPA firms is a perfect fit for us, as it addresses the unique needs of our profession.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

I find that there is a learning curve with Canopy, as we've been using it for four years and still find ourselves learning. This necessitates periodic group training to keep up with new features. Additionally, the initial setup wasn't easy, requiring us to spend significant time establishing proper procedures for effective use.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Canopy automates invoices, payments, task creation, and client document exchanges, significantly saving time. It also centralizes file access for our firm and clients, enhancing efficiency.

 ### 19. Empowers Hispanic Entrepreneurs with Streamlined Workflows and Secure Communication

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Edgar V. | Owner & Compliance Consultant at LUYED Book and Tax LLC, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

The most helpful part of Canopy is how it simplifies complex workflows and client communication in one place. For my Hispanic community, the upsides are efficiency, secure document sharing, and automation that let me spend more time educating and empowering entrepreneurs instead of chasing paperwork.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

While Canopy is a powerful tool, navigation between client accounts can sometimes feel slow, and customization options for client lists and bulk actions are limited. These areas could be improved to better serve firms like mine that manage diverse workflows for Hispanic entrepreneurs.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canopy is solving the problem of fragmented workflows and scattered client communication. By centralizing task management, secure document sharing, and automated reminders, it eliminates inefficiencies that used to slow down my practice. The benefit is clear: I spend less time chasing paperwork and more time educating and empowering Hispanic entrepreneurs with the strategic guidance they need.

 ### 20. Very Good program for organizing tasks and managing the flow of work for clients

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

I like how Canopy allows users to understand the flow of tasks and where that task is at a certain point. When done correctly Canopy shows the team where things stand.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

I don't like how I go into the "my work" tab or one of my custom tabs, example "Open 1040s". These are 1040s that I need to work on. When I click into one of the tasks, I check the status. Then I want to go back to where I was on the "My work" tab. It starts me at the beginning and I have to scroll down allllll the way where I was before. I would like that process to be smoother so I can check tasks more efficiently.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping track of open returns and other items that I need to complete on a daily/weekly/ monthly basis.

 ### 21. I really enjoy using Canopy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lindsie H. | Partner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

We’ve tested three different practice management software platforms for our accounting firm, and Canopy has been the clear standout. It’s incredibly user-friendly—not just for our team, but for our clients as well. Canopy has truly anticipated everything we need to run our business efficiently and smoothly.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

My only concern with Canopy is the payment processing feature. It lacks a back-office dashboard where we can track when payments are drafted or when they’ll be deposited into our account. Some payments take significantly longer than others, and there's no visibility into the reasons behind the delays or a way to review that information

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easier for our clients to use, upload pdf’s. They can scan a pdf with the app and upload it. Also, if we do receive pictures, we can produce a pdf and combined the pdf in Canopy. Which saves time and money!

 ### 22. A Reliable, User-Friendly Tax Practice Solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

What I like best about Canopy is how everything is in one place. It keeps client communication, document management, and workflow organized, which saves time and cuts down on stress. The interface is easy to use, and it actually feels like the software is working with you instead of against you.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

What I dislike about Canopy is that some features have a learning curve, especially when you’re first getting started. A few tools also feel a bit slower or less intuitive than they could be, but once you’re familiar with the system, it’s manageable.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canopy solves the problem of scattered systems by putting client communication, documents, billing, and workflow in one place. Instead of jumping between tools, everything is organized and easy to track. That’s benefited me by saving time, reducing errors, and making it much easier to stay on top of deadlines and client needs.

 ### 23. Essential for Tax Season Success with Outstanding Workflow Features

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kirsten W. | Staff Accountant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

Canopy is an essential tool in our daily operations, particularly during the busy tax season. Its workflow and template features stand out, giving us the flexibility to adapt as our needs evolve. We've created comprehensive, repeatable workflows for each type of engagement, and the template system helps ensure that nothing is overlooked.

A feature we especially appreciate is the due date functionality. Tasks are automatically scheduled and monitored, which is invaluable during tax season when timing is critical. This feature alone often feels indispensable.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

Canopy sometimes experiences minor glitches with tasks, such as updates not appearing right away or certain fields taking a little time to refresh. Although these issues can be somewhat frustrating when they occur, they are always addressed and resolved promptly.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The features that allows tracking of user activity giving date and time stamps.

 ### 24. Powerful Platform That Supports Our Firm’s Growth

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris M. | Principal, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

The platform creates clarity across our entire client lifecycle. Assigning work, tracking progress, sharing files, and communicating with clients all happen in one system. It has noticeably improved our team’s efficiency and reduced the back and forth that used to slow us down.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

The product is strong overall, but the engagement proposal features need more flexibility and refinement. Reporting and customization could also be expanded. Additional configuration options would help firms tailor the platform more closely to their workflows.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canopy brings our client work, communication, tasks, time tracking, and document management into one centralized system. It reduces the manual back and forth that used to slow us down and gives our team clear visibility into deadlines and responsibilities. Everything moves faster, client interactions are more organized, and our accounting workflow is far more consistent and efficient.

 ### 25. It's a great program and I love the features, but it can be a little pricy for all add-ons.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting

**Reviewed Date:** January 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

CRM features that let you communicate and interact with clients, and how that interfaces with tasks and engagements. All the automations and cross-over is great.
It is all very customizable as far as I have explored, which is nice.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

Besides the fact it can be expensive if you need the whole suit, or a growing cost as you add features and seats, there are only minor complaints/adjustments. I dislike there isn't an audit log on tasks (you have to go dig for the audit log, then it can be overwhelming information because it's for everything.)

I wish the client could see a progress tracker, similar to what we see in the task.

I wish the tasks could populate into my calendar.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

File management - now we get notified when a client uploads new files.
CRM - keep client information, including when they became a client. Eventually I will be using exclusively canopy to manage client communications. (The batch email and organizer features help so much!)
Task management is so great, and the reoccurring template gives us more time to work, rather than manage work.

 ### 26. The safest online vault outside (or inside) of the government?!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joshua G. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

Canopy is more secure than bank software -- even the engineers do not have access to your files, making social engineering attempts to steal your data nearly impossible.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

Canopy does not currently integrate with my Drake Tax software, but I continue to hold out hope that such a synchronization will 1 day take place!

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canopy allows me to share in a safe and secure cloud environment for sensitive Client information and documents, including zipped and particularly large files. This makes the growth of the virtual side of my business that much easier!

 ### 27. All-in-One Solution for Our Small Accounting Firm

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Max A. | Partner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

Canopy serves as an all-in-one solution for small accounting firms. After using Canopy for over a year, we've noticed a significant reduction in the time spent on our workflows, thanks to the tool's flexibility and user-friendly design.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

While Canopy continues to roll out new features and actively listens to user feedback, there are still some functionalities that seem like obvious additions but are currently missing. Greater customization options for billing and invoicing, in particular, would make a significant difference.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before we switched to Canopy, we were using too many separate apps that didn’t integrate with one another. Now, with Canopy, I’m able to access all my clients’ information, review their previous year’s documents, send invoices, and automate client tasks—all within a single platform.

 ### 28. Keeps me Organized and Timely

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2026

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

The most helpful feature of Canopy is the Task Management. I love being able to create a task and assign a due date so that I can see, at a glance, everything I have to do in both the near future and weeks out.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

I'm still getting the hang of using everything on the Admin side, but so far I haven't really found anything I truly dislike - if there's something I don't love immediately, I use the chatbot to figure out how to use it more efficiently.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Task Management - nothing is falling through the cracks.
Time Management - being able to see how much time I and my staff is truly spending on Tasks and Subtasks is helping me price my products more accurately.

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

Canopy does an amazing job of helping organize company tasks, whether it is a small task, a big task, or a unique task. Canopy helps manage it all.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

Currently, you cannot reorder status selections, and you cannot edit the default statuses. There's some room for improvement here.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Task management. Our firm needs something to engagements, such as annual tax prep and weekly payroll. Canopy generates recurring tasks and helps to keep everything on track with statuses and subtasks.

 ### 30. Canopy Streamlines Workflow and Brings Peace of Mind

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael M. | Partner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

Once I finish revamping all of our processes, I believe Canopy will make our lives so much easier. It streamlines our firm's workflow and gives us peace of mind, allowing everyone to rest easy at night.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

At this point, I find the software a bit overwhelming, which is understandable since it's new to me. While I'm just getting started, the rest of the office is already familiar with it. However, it's clear that we still haven't fully optimized our workflow.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The software is helping us automate and streamline some of our simpler processes and workflows. The ability to create tasks and subtasks has been especially useful for our staff, as it makes it much easier to track where work stands.

 ### 31. All-in-One Platform That Supercharged Our Productivity

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Erica E. | Founder & President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

I can run my entire firm from one platform, which has increased my team's productivity and maximized our efficiency. We've been able to get rid of multiple apps for one single solution, plus Canopy is always innovating and upgrading!

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

It's hard to find things I dislike. I guess I would say its a lot to learn, but Canopy has provided so many educational materials that the team was able to get up to speed fairly quickly.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canopy has allowed us to standardize workflows across all of our clients, keeps our time-tracking specific to client tasks, provided us with a gorgeous client portal to manage documents and client requests with and has provided me with invaluable insights into my firm.

 ### 32. Feature-Rich Tool That Simplifies Task Management

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sara C.

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

I love that Canopy consistently adds features that our firm values, such as AI-generated emails and task automation, which enhance our efficiency and streamline our operations. The platform effectively allows us to meet deadlines and track tasks efficiently, either by person or by workflow. This flexibility in task management is invaluable. I appreciate that Canopy is actively developing features that will allow us to consolidate our tools, eliminating the need for multiple systems, which signifies its commitment to continuous improvement and integration. The initial setup of Canopy was easy, which facilitated a smooth transition from our previous system. Additionally, using Canopy offers a more seamless experience compared to our former solution, CCH, particularly in tracking workflows.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

I would like Canopy to be more intuitive when it comes to designing workflow templates. The deadlines and automation wording can be confusing, which makes it challenging to create and manage workflows effectively. Additionally, it currently does not integrate with other programs we use, though future updates might resolve this issue.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Canopy for task management, enabling us to meet deadlines and track tasks by person or workflow. It streamlines our work by adding valuable features like AI-generated emails and task automation.

 ### 33. It is smooth and seamless, user friendly

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

The ability have organize client data and easy communication across staff members

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

Canopy does not have a built in client messaging feature, with the help of that feature, it will help standardize communication and have everything saved in one area.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It reduces paper storage as the cloud is able to handle all the documents electronically.
Less calls from clients because they are able to see all necessary documents in one area.

 ### 34. Robust Features with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Madi C.

**Reviewed Date:** November 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

I really like how the task function in Canopy operates. I love the automation feature within Canopy. We've been able to streamline our processes by implementing automated emails to clients once their tax returns are finalized, as well as integrating Google reviews for clients to complete within our system. This automation is an awesome feature that has significantly saved us time. Additionally, the billing processes within Canopy have been smooth, which is something that has made us quite happy. I also appreciate that Canopy continuously updates and grows, ensuring that it remains a robust tool for our firm. Furthermore, the client portal is extremely beneficial; it enhances our communication processes by keeping everyone on the team aligned with clients, leading to better connectivity overall. We've genuinely been pleased with the inclusivity and integration that Canopy provides with elements like billing templates and the client portal, making our entire process more cohesive and efficient. The enhancements and connections that Canopy has brought to our firm are something we've been genuinely happy with.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

{"Tasks do not seem to be as well-developed when transitioning from sub-task to sub-task or from person to person within Canopy. This limitation hinders the workflow in my larger firm, which consists of about 15 employees.","The initial setup and implementation of Canopy were quite cumbersome, taking several months to fully grasp the concept. This aspect could have been taught in a more detailed manner to facilitate a smoother onboarding process."}

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Canopy to streamline our firm’s processes, enabling efficient client and project tracking, task management, and billing. Its automation and client portal enhance communication and save time, while smooth billing operations improve our workflow.

 ### 35. A great plug-and-play experience

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2026

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

The best part about Canopy is the UI. Very modern and clean. I have had very few complaints from clients about it, and the way the program is set up is very logical.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

I am not thrilled that they do not allow recurring auto-pay for clients if your firm is a sole prop. No way to retain client payment info on file. I have moved to a different billing system due to this. Task management/workflow for tax workflows is fantastic. Monthly accounting, just OK, so I am tracking those workflows elsewhere.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having a central "brain" for my practice is invaluable. It frees up my time because staff can often find what they need in Canopy.

 ### 36. Effortless Task Management with Seamless Workflow

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashley C.

**Reviewed Date:** November 25, 2025

I appreciate Canopy for its ease of use, which makes managing tasks and clients straightforward and efficient. The software’s bulk abilities are impressive, allowing me to handle large volumes of data or tasks seamlessly, which significantly enhances productivity. I love the templates as they offer structure and guidance, reducing the time needed to set up and organize projects. The user-focused design of Canopy ensures that our workflow remains smooth, effectively saving us valuable time and allowing for an uninterrupted work process. Additionally, the initial setup of Canopy was a breeze, taking only about a week to fully transition and customize it to our needs. This ease of implementation underscores the thoughtfulness of its design. I'm extremely satisfied with Canopy and would highly recommend it, as reflected in my willingness to give it a perfect recommendation score of 10 out of 10.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

Improvements can be made with the new recurrence beta, specifically looking for a better semi-monthly recurrence setting to avoid weekends.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Canopy for task and client management, making organization paper-free and improving time management with ease of use, bulk abilities, and templates, saving valuable time and allowing seamless workflow.

 ### 37. The Ultimate All-in-One Project Management Solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

This is an excellent all-in-one solution that covers all my project management needs. What really stood out for me were the desktop file sync, which ensures a single source of truth, the client portal, and the ability to store detailed information about each client.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

Many things need to be templated, which can be beneficial in some cases, but it often becomes frustrating when I just want to send information quickly. Additionally, there isn't a dedicated customer service representative, and the chat feature is always handled by a bot, making it difficult to reach a real person when necessary.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I appreciate being able to keep all my clients securely organized in one place, which allows both me and my team to access their information quickly. The ability to create templates for client details, folder structures, and other elements ensures that we maintain consistency across all our client accounts.

 ### 38. Simple Yet High-End CRM Solution

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Corbin H. | Partner

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

I appreciate how Canopy simplifies the delegation of operational tasks related to clients, which streamlines my workflow. The software's simple and intuitive design means it has a low learning curve compared to its competitors, making it accessible and efficient for me to use. Additionally, Canopy excels by focusing on its core competencies, and this targeted approach enhances its perceived value and functionality in my eyes. The straightforward nature of Canopy is impressive, as it manages to be sophisticated yet uncomplicated. I also find the process of switching to Canopy was made especially easy thanks to the downloadable Windows app, which facilitated a swift transition by allowing me to migrate all my client folder pathways in just a few hours. My overall experience with Canopy has been positive, and I value its high-end service for the specific tasks it aims to accomplish.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

I would like the ability to see tasks in a kanban format, which is my preferred viewing method instead of a list. Separately, I wish that I could change what email clients use to login to their client portal accounts.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Canopy allows me to delegate tasks efficiently by centralizing operations and is easy to use with minimal learning curve, enhancing team productivity.

 ### 39. Reliable, Efficient, and Built for Busy Tax Offices

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2026

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

What I like best about Canopy is the integrated invoicing and payment system. The ability to invoice clients directly within the platform and accept ACH payments for just $1, while passing credit card processing fees on to the client, has been a game-changer for our firm. It has streamlined collections, improved cash flow, and eliminated the need for separate payment tools. Everything—from billing to client communication—stays centralized and efficient, which is exactly what a busy tax office needs.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

The client management setup could be improved, particularly for married couples. In many tax practices, husband and wife clients are extremely common, yet Canopy requires creating two separate client portals and then linking them, rather than allowing a single shared portal. This adds unnecessary steps to onboarding and ongoing client management and can be confusing for clients who expect a unified experience.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canopy solves the problem of fragmented client and workflow systems. The client portal allows secure document uploads, e-signatures, and payments in one place, improving turnaround time and client experience. Internally, task management for recurring work helps us assign and track tasks by client. The desktop drive integration is a standout feature, giving our team direct access to synced client files and greatly improving efficiency and organization.

 ### 40. Streamlined Communication and Organization

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Synthia W.

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

I use Canopy as a project management tool because it effectively helps me with organizing and tracking projects at my busy tax firm. The platform provides a clear overview of workloads and streamlines communication both internally among colleagues and externally with clients. Canopy has become our preferred method of communication, replacing traditional email and Microsoft Teams, and serves as a comprehensive repository for files. I find the system's contribution to keeping me organized particularly invaluable. Additionally, the resolution tool that allows me to create and send Powers of Attorney (POAs) with just a few clicks is exceptionally powerful and contributes greatly to efficiency in document management.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

I'm still getting used to the roles feature in Canopy and don't fully understand its necessity. It disrupted my workflow by messing up all my open tasks and subtask assignments when it was initially rolled out. As a result, I had to reassign everything that was open at the time, which was inconvenient.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canopy helps me organize and track projects, streamlines communication internally and externally, and replaces email and MS Teams. It centralizes files and simplifies POA creation, enhancing workflow efficiency.

 ### 41. Very Responsive

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

Canopy has been very responsive with feedback and updates. They're constantly developing the platform to make it user friendly. Some of the views that they have today weren't there last year.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

I don't like that married couples have different accounts, but it sounds like they're working on developing this.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canopy makes it easy for me to manage my clients using Notes, Communication, Files, Billing and so forth. The client likes the ease of uploading all their information securely to me. We've had a number of clients give us feedback of the Canopy system.

 ### 42. Streamlined Our Tax Practice with Seamless Features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kim J.

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

I find Canopy incredibly useful for our tax practice management, especially due to its ease of billing and the simplicity with which I can add clients and tasks. The organizer engagement letter has been a significant factor in our decision to join Canopy, proving to be a huge advantage for us. I particularly appreciate the client portal, which offers a secure location for all documents, and its task assignment feature to the organizer ensures that all steps are completed. I no longer worry about managing returns because Canopy will send automated reminders. The client portal significantly enhances our workflow by centralizing all information, avoiding the need to navigate through emails, Dropbox, or Google Drive, thus improving our efficiency.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

The only thing I find irritating is that if you are not active it logs you out and that is irritating when you are using the time tracking feature for billing clients.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Canopy organizes our tax practice management, providing a secure client portal for document storage, ease of billing, and automated client reminders. It streamlines our workflow by centralizing tasks and documents, eliminating the need for multiple software solutions.

 ### 43. Effortless CRM for Tax & Bookkeeping Businesses

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** MATT N.

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

I find Canopy incredibly easy to use, which significantly enhances my efficiency when navigating through its features. The workflows that Canopy offers are particularly beneficial; they allow for seamless task management by letting me organize tasks and responsibilities across our team. For instance, when sending out tax organizers to clients, it enables me to specify exactly what information is needed, categorize it into folders, and assign tasks to specific team members based on client interactions. This level of detailed organization ensures that everyone knows what needs to be done, which enhances our team's effectiveness. Additionally, I really appreciate the improvements made to the workflows over time—they continually get better, making my experience with Canopy even more positive. Moreover, the initial setup of Canopy was straightforward and simple, which was a relief as it facilitated a smooth transition for our growing business. Based on these positive experiences, I feel confident in recommending Canopy to others, reflected in my high likelihood to recommend it to a friend or colleague.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

I'm not sure if Canopy has the capability to send out a blanket login for customers or potential clients. It would be nice if we could send a simple link allowing automatic login. This would streamline interactions, especially as an advertisement, and eliminate the current need to individually set up accounts for each client before they can access the system.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Canopy for storing data, requesting signatures, collecting payments, and creating workflows, which helps my tax and bookkeeping business stay organized and ensures everyone knows their tasks.

 ### 44. Streamlined Tax Practice Management with Canopy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jessie B.

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

I really appreciate Canopy’s comprehensive tracking ability, which centralizes tasks, contacts, emails, automated emails, timing, and billing all in one place. I love the workflows feature, which allows me to keep track of every step in a task, including what has been done, what remains to be done, who is responsible for doing it, when tasks should be completed, and how to do them, as well as the current status of each task. This capability offers me a clear, at-a-glance understanding of everything that needs to be done and where we are in the process. The initial setup of Canopy was very easy, which was another highlight for my team. I also transitioned from using several outdated or discontinued products to Canopy, and I'm thrilled with the switch. I'd wholeheartedly recommend Canopy to others, scoring it a perfect 10 out of 10.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

Nothing, I love it the way it is.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Canopy to centralize tax practice management, seamlessly tracking tasks, contacts, emails, timing, and billing. The workflows allow me to efficiently monitor task progress and status.

 ### 45. Unified CRM, Needs Better Email Integration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael B.

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

I appreciate Canopy’s ability to consolidate all necessary elements in one place, which makes managing accounting tasks more streamlined. Its feature to allow viewing client work progress and tracking tasks efficiently is incredibly useful. The ease with which I can dive deep into various project details and have all my contacts organized in one convenient location is particularly beneficial. Additionally, Canopy’s robust set of tools, especially the file management component, stands out as a valuable asset for our firm’s needs. The support team from Canopy made the initial setup simple and smooth through a series of Zoom meetings, ensuring a seamless transition process.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

I find Canopy's email integration lacking, necessitating the use of an alternative email client, Missive, for better functionality within a team environment. Canopy could benefit from having a more robust email client integrated within the CRM.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Canopy consolidates all our client management needs, making it easy to track work progress, manage contacts, and integrate document management, boosting our efficiency.

 ### 46. Efficient Client Management with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Naomi S.

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

I appreciate Canopy's ability to manage clients, their files, internal files, and communications efficiently. It solves the problem of obtaining signatures from clients quickly and conveniently, ensuring the signed documents are seamlessly integrated into the appropriate client files. This feature saves me the hassle of dealing with physical documents and the associated delays, as I no longer have to search for or wonder about whether a document, such as an engagement letter, has been signed. The efficiency of receiving notifications when something is signed, and having it automatically organized, boosts productivity and ensures that nothing important is overlooked. Additionally, the ability to assign tasks and comment on them within the platform aids in collaboration and keeps work progress transparent. This functionality makes Canopy a valuable tool in streamlining my workflow.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

I don't like the email interface in Canopy; it's difficult to search for things and often doesn't work properly. Additionally, it doesn't connect to all of my emails and is usually delayed by a few days. I also dislike the arrangement of templates; it's frustrating that I can't change or organize them, as they only appear in the order Canopy sets them, even before the templates I've created. Another inconvenience is that I can't upload entire file folders to Canopy—only individual documents inside the folders—which makes the process of adding several folders time-consuming, as they need to be added separately.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Canopy to manage client files and communications effectively. It simplifies obtaining client signatures and automatically organizes documents, saving time and effort compared to manual processes.

 ### 47. Efficient Billing & Easy Follow up

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Minnie G. | Tax Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

I appreciate Canopy's adaptive approach, which aligns well with my needs and enhances my workflow. This flexibility has proved incredibly beneficial. Furthermore, the client request feature with follow-up rules is particularly valuable, as it provides an organized method to manage open items, significantly reducing the effort required for manual checkups with clients. This feature enhances my efficiency and streamlines the process, allowing me to focus more on strategic tasks. Additionally, integrating Outlook emails with the ability to quickly tag teammates, even if they are not directly in the email, is a practical feature that aids in maintaining effective communication and collaboration across the team. Overall, these aspects of Canopy have made a noticeable positive impact on my work, leading to improvements in billing and receivables handling.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

The smart intake feature for the tax organizer does not display data from the previous year. also I noticed there isn't a central way to organize the list of tasks, which makes it harder to keep track of everything.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Canopy to improve billing and receivables and manage client requests with follow-up rules efficiently, reducing manual checkups and organizing open items.

 ### 48. Intuitive and Integrated Project Management Solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2025

I love how Canopy provides transparency between staff members on project status, which greatly enhances our team collaboration. It serves as a 'one stop shop' for document storage, workflows, time entry, and invoices, truly streamlining our operations. The client request feature is particularly impressive as it automatically reminds clients of tasks, which saves me a lot of time. The user experience is phenomenal, with an intuitive and sleek design that makes navigation a breeze. The support options are useful, easy to navigate, and responsive, ensuring that any questions or issues are addressed promptly. Canopy's web-based nature solves multiple problems for us by combining the functionality of several softwares into one platform. Its ability to track and notify effectively is a notable advantage. Despite the steep learning curve initially, I have grown to love the system. The seamless integration with our email and the API with the IRS to pull transcripts adds tremendous value to its functionality.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

I would love a way to print client requests without relying on the 'print screen' button, which feels cumbersome. Additionally, it would be beneficial to have the functionality to set a due date for client requests while still sending reminders if the tasks aren't completed by the due date.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canopy provides project transparency, streamlines document storage, workflows, and invoicing. It auto-reminds clients of tasks, saving me time. It's web-based, combines multiple software functions, and excels at tracking and notifying.

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

I love using Canopy as our Firm's Client Portal because it helps us efficiently manage and streamline a variety of tasks, such as sending out engagements, assigning tasks internally, and handling client communications like tax questionnaires and document requests. Canopy has excellently resolved our challenges in task assignment, making it clear who is responsible for what within our team. The software's user-friendly nature is something I truly appreciate, making my experience smooth and easy. There are so many outstanding features in Canopy that enhance our productivity, and one feature I particularly love is the ability to pull transcripts directly from the IRS, especially since it supports bulk downloads when we have a POA on file. The initial setup was very straightforward and simple enough that our Admin staff could handle it with ease. Overall, the robust functionality and intuitive interfaces of Canopy make it a valuable tool for our practice, and I am highly likely to recommend it to others, rating it a perfect 10 on the recommendation scale.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

I find the Beta version of the questionnaires to be overly complicated and in need of simplification. Additionally, I am having difficulty integrating Canopy with Drake, which is not working as intended.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Canopy for streamlined internal task assignment, client engagement, and document management while benefiting from features like direct IRS transcript access, enhancing our efficiency.

 ### 50. Revolutionized Our Workflow with Superior Data Management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Canopy?**

I appreciate Canopy for efficiently managing client communications and streamlining our workflow, especially in tax preparation and bookkeeping tasks. It significantly saves time by putting essential information at my fingertips. The internal communication tools allow anyone in our firm to easily check the status of tasks and access necessary documents, eliminating the need to track down staff or dig through files. This integration of tags and document tracking enhances our ability to respond to client inquiries promptly, right during calls, thereby increasing productivity. Another aspect I find impressive is Canopy’s interface, which far surpasses our previous software, Intuit's Link, by connecting individuals with businesses seamlessly and offering time-keeping functionalities that are crucial for our operations. The transition to using Canopy was met with initial resistance from some staff, yet they quickly adapted after recognizing its superior data management capabilities. The training videos helped create an internal knowledge base, leading to a smoother and more efficient system use. I also appreciate its ability to link with Outlook for email connectivity, further enhancing our operational efficiency.

**What do you dislike about Canopy?**

I would like to see the tax organizer in Canopy be more customizable so we can ask the specific questions we'd like to ask, such as those needed for tax law changes. Additionally, while I didn't handle the setup personally, from a user standpoint, there was a learning curve. We had staff resistant to change, although they eventually adapted after participating in training and understanding the data management functionalities.

**What problems is Canopy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Canopy to streamline client communication and data accessibility, saving countless hours by organizing workflows, tracking documents, and allowing immediate access to information during client calls.
