What do you like best about Canonical OpenStack?

It is an open source cloud computing platform that enables users to create and and manage public or private clouds. The best things about it is that it is easily scalable allowing us to easily add or remove computing resource, the deployment is fairly simple and the solution is cost effective when compared to other platforms. It also has built in security features to protect data and prevent unauthorized access to the cloud. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canonical OpenStack?

It is a complex software program and setting it up on ubuntu can be a daunting task for inexperienced users. Ubuntu Openstack can be sometimes resource intensive requiring high memory, CPU and storage space. This might result in higher hardware costs and increased maintenance requirements. Since it is open source, Canonical provides only limited support for it. Mostly we need to rely on community support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Canonical OpenStack solving and how is that benefiting you?

Ubuntu OpenStack is a robust platform that enables organizations to build and manage private and public clouds. One of the major problems that Ubuntu OpenStack solves is the complexity of deploying and managing cloud infrastructure. With Ubuntu OpenStack, businesses can easily deploy and manage their own private clouds, without the need for expensive and complex proprietary solutions. This means that organizations can save time, money, and resources, and focus on their core business objectives. It provides a flexible and scalable platform that can be tailored to meet the specific needs of organizations, whether they need to support a small team or a large enterprise. It provides a range of tools and features that make it easier to manage cloud infrastructure. For example, it includes an intuitive web-based dashboard that provides real-time monitoring and management of resources. This dashboard enables administrators to quickly identify and address any issues, and to optimize resource utilization to maximize performance and cost-effectiveness. What do you like best about Canonical OpenStack?

OpenStack is essential for our private cloud requirements for facilitating agility & flexibility in our infrastructure deployments. Its Private Cloud Build package includes our architecture deliverables which leverage the IaC approach for repetitive deployments. It also includes various custom SDN solutions, storage options and integration with third-party tools which provides feasible cluster deployments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canonical OpenStack?

Since OpenStack is a complex ecosystem, we need to address various security layers for our customer application governance. Lots of considerations have to be given to the upgrades & operation activities as they tend to become complex after deployments. We need to ensure that our Canonical OpenStack utilizes Juju charms for proper maintenance, regulated upgrades and easy deployments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Canonical OpenStack solving and how is that benefiting you?

We make use of the Metal-As-A-Service infrastructure provisioning tool for our automated installations of Ubuntu OpenStack. Our entire infrastructure can be defined with a set of YAML files which allows reusability of code through IaC & integrating with the Logging, Monitoring & Alerting (LMA) stack to perform our daily operational activities. Canonical deployments make it very simple & straightforward to perform our K8 deployments on top of our containers running in the Nova availability zone within our private subnets.
