## AutoCAD Reviews
  ### 1. User Friendly and Stable CAD

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stacey B. | Drafting Tech - Software Coordinator, Oil & Energy, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 13, 2023

**What do you like best about AutoCAD?**

a big upside for me is the "out the box" features that are enough for wath i do. I can do solid modeling, cut sections from the model and if the model is updated teh views are also.

**What do you dislike about AutoCAD?**

I feel the downside is the subscription business model that they changed over to. we used to purchase a version of AutoCAD, in came on a disc and one could use it practically forever. it was a "perpetual license". one can still buy a version, load it electronically from the website, bu it is not a "perpetual license" therefore when the subscription monies stop, the access to the program stops.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoCAD:**

AutoCAD has come a long way and is probably the most recognized name in drafting/design software. but along the way they have gotten very expensive to use. and along the way other companies have developed alternate programs that are 1/8 the cost and just as capable

**What problems is AutoCAD solving and how is that benefiting you?**

the problems it solved pertained to multiple departments and multiple disciplines, and the coordinating the latest from each discipline. Say Structural, Piping, Instrumentation, electrical, engineering. AutoCAD has a referencing feature entitled EXTERNAL REFERENCES or XREFS. If any discipline needs anothers drawing for background, one would insert that drawing as an XREF. Now if the xref drawing is updated it is updated in all the locations that the drawing is xrefed.

  ### 2. Autocad Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anshul C. | Assistant Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 27, 2022

**What do you like best about AutoCAD?**

It is very user friendly software and on d can learn it very easily. Shop drawings produced by using this software looks more aesthetically arrange and very clear to read.

**What do you dislike about AutoCAD?**

As of now the only drawback is we can not see the 3D elements which eventually help in resolving clash. But overall it gives more clean work when it comes to 2d drawings.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoCAD:**

If you are looking for 2d drawings prepration then you must go for this.

**What problems is AutoCAD solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are producing 2D shop drawings of MEP service with annotations. It is als used to produce enlarge plan drawings with detailing. It is a 2D platform where drafting is possible.

  ### 3. Autocad - My daily workhorse

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 28, 2022

**What do you like best about AutoCAD?**

Once you have your workspace set up, you can get a heck of a lot done in a short amount of time. Designing your own production tools, while not trivially easy, reduces labor significantly.

**What do you dislike about AutoCAD?**

AutoCAD does crash occasionally, so save often! Also, if your boss isn't paying for it... be ready to shell out quite a bit for a license.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoCAD:**

AutoCAD doesn't have quite the same hotkeys as most other drafting softwares, but as a lightweight drafting tool it's very powerful.

**What problems is AutoCAD solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AutoCAD provides me with a consistent, reliable, predictable work environment for designing and editing my technical projects. While there is a bit of a learning curve, the controls are intuitive and snappy once the program is properly configured.

  ### 4. Best software for designing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 08, 2022

**What do you like best about AutoCAD?**

AutoCAD software is easy to use and any age group can understand the software and use as per their need. And also we can print the design/structure as per we need through AutoCAD.

**What do you dislike about AutoCAD?**

While using AutoCAD software sometimes Hatch command gets stuck at a point and totally hangs the software.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoCAD:**

Definitely you can use this software for your better efficiency and work experience.

**What problems is AutoCAD solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AutoCAD software saves time with 2D drawings as hand sketching takes time to complete and it's quite difficult to make corrections or changes in the drawing. That's why it's very useful.

  ### 5. Tool for creating 2D drawings and 3D models (to some extent)

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shahed A. | B, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 01, 2021

**Describe the project or task AutoCAD helped with:**

AutoCAD helped create 2D plan drawings, Typical drawings for standard components as per the catalogs, TOPO surveys, single-line drawings (SLD) for Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing disciplines.

**What do you like best about AutoCAD?**

Its user interface and ease of commands. All the commands in AutoCAD are self-explanatory and easy to use. Also, we can do the complex task as well utilizing the lisp functionality. We can create dynamic blocks as well that can be modified as per the drawing needs. We can also extract the data in a table format if the data is fed correctly.

**What do you dislike about AutoCAD?**

There is no intelligence to the drawings or models. The models are just 2D or 3D representations of geometry. There is no information to it, nor can we add any information.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoCAD:**

AutoCAD is a good tool to create Plan drawings. But if you want to assign some intelligence to your drawing/model, I would recommend using Revit.

**What problems is AutoCAD solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am creating 2D plans, creating standard drawings of products as per the catalogs, creating dynamic blocks, and it helped to streamline the workflow and share the data across other platforms like Revit easily.

  ### 6. Still Relevant, If Old, Tech

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Evan C. | Design Technician, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2021

**Describe the project or task AutoCAD helped with:**

My work is predominantly BIM-driven, which is the 3D successor to line drafting, so I don't use it every day. However, we often get imports for Civil surveys that arrive in a CAD format, which means I still occasionally need to use it, which reminds me that AutoCAD is a relevant tool.

**What do you like best about AutoCAD?**

Drawing in AutoCAD is relatively simple, and there are many ways to accomplish a task; the better you know the software, the more methods available to you to tackle a project.

**What do you dislike about AutoCAD?**

AutoCAD methodology is challenging to standardize. There are so many ways to approach a task that no two drafters will tackle it the same way. There are so many different commands available that many aspects of the software go completely unused when they could possibly be an add-on instead, rather than a typical feature.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoCAD:**

If you are producing Construction Documents for non-residential buildings, consider Revit first. It is where the industry is heading and is a more powerful tool that provides much more information with less work, though the workflow is stricter than AutoCAD. AutoCAD is still helpful to use for some smaller-scale projects or if you don't typically show 3D imagery of a project.

**What problems is AutoCAD solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I currently use AutoCAD to import Civil survey information, correct or reduce it, then import it into Revit. It is a clean workflow, though it'll be nicer if/when AutoDesk decides to make a better way to bring Civil3D exports into Revit.

  ### 7. Using AutoCAD in Structural Engineering Designs.

This project, residential suite for Barrister Takema, locatec at Mkar, Gboko, Benue State, Nigeria. The project is a three-level building (ground floor, first floor, second floor, and roof). The roof structure is a steel lattice space typology.

**What do you like best about AutoCAD?**

Its user-friendliness, simplicity and it is a CAD-type software oriented to drawing and modeling in 2D and 3D.

**What do you dislike about AutoCAD?**

Its inability to export/import files by a whole team. In addition, work may lost because of the sudden breakdown of computers, viruses attacks, and hacking. Also, the time taking process to know how to operate or run the software with attendant costs.

**What problems is AutoCAD solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AutoCAD software helped me design, synthesize, analyze, and document the procedure. All these factors helped in drastically improving the productivity of my design that translated into fast design, lower designing cost, and shorter project completion time.

  ### 14. Best software for drafting and CAD Design

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rajnish H. | Summer Intern, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 13, 2021

**Describe the project or task AutoCAD helped with:**

AutoCAD has helped me in drafting house plans and mechanical models in college as well as in my internship. AutoCAD has also helped me in making 3D models of houses with the best precision.

**What do you like best about AutoCAD?**

The best features of AutoCAD that I like the most are the drawing tools needed in drafting. Tools like copy, array, and rotate help in doing the design in a short time. The other feature that I like is the views of a model or a drawing such that the model can be looked at from different directions. The orthogonal mode is beneficial while drawing floor plans and elevation of a house. The other feature that I like is the conversion of units which is too simple and doesn't require much skill. And the last feature that I like is the addition of components of house like tables, chairs, sofa and due to this feature we can add these components directly to a diagram without drawing it ourself.

**What do you dislike about AutoCAD?**

One thing i dislike about AutoCAD is the difficulty in making 3D models of house and mechanical models. There are many glitches while drawing a 3D model. My laptop gets laggy when the 3D version of AutoCAD is opened even after having sufficient hardware requirements.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoCAD:**

I highly recommend AutoCAD to every professional involved in Civil Engineering industry. If someone has issues in drawing and handling drafting charts, then AutoCAD will be the best bet for them.

**What problems is AutoCAD solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Autocad had solved many problems of mine, which I faced while I made drawings on charts and paper while in college and also in my internship. AutoCAD has many automated processes, which reduce the time taken to draw a floor plan or a model. When a drawing is made on paper, the paper gets damaged after a few months, and sometimes they get lost, but with AutoCAD, i can look at the diagrams made after many months without any issue. AutoCAD has also solved the problem of units in dimensions.
