Dont see any downside of CA GEN apart from software licencing cost. Organisations are moving from CA GEN to other open source technologies mainly for cost savings. Speed of prototyping that actually goes to production. Availability to generate the code for multiple platforms (Windows/AIX/Linux/..) and different DB (Oracle/IBM DB2/ MS SQL/...). I like that it auto compiles in Java, C and SQL. Also i like that its easy to create the front-end and back-end of the program. That some times it can crash depending of how heavy the work you do is. After a long time that i use this program i can see that the only problem i found is the one with the crashes.
