## Butter CMS Reviews
  ### 1. Most developer-friendly headless CMS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yusuke I. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2020

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

Easy to set up and use in development that after integrating it to our app, the marketing can handle content management even without the help of devs which helps improve efficiency in our workflows.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

API documentation can be improved. It shouldn't be a problem if you know what you are doing but it can be frustrating at times, especially for less-experienced devs.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The marketing team can now add or update dynamic content without the help of devs which used to take away development resources.

  ### 2. Perfect tool for your blog management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ondrej B. | Performance Marketing Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

- Easy to manage
- Customer service was really helpful

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

- Nothing, I wouldn't say that there was something wrong along the way

**Recommendations to others considering Butter CMS:**

- Try it, you are not going to regret it for sure

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Content is easy to add and manage, useful tag management
- I had a problem wit tags but it was solved quickly

  ### 3. Lets our marketing team create content which frees up our devs to work on new features.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tyree P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

The intuitive WYSIWYG interface makes it easy for users to create and update the blogs whenever they need to.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

Image management was a little tedious. We store some of our images on S3 buckets and when trying to upload an image from a link, it would save the image as an audio file instead of as an image. Also you are only allowed one feature image. Would be nice to have an option for something like a banner image as well as a hero image.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used to have our own internally managed blog, which was nice, but it meant that we had to consistently manage and update all the codebase. This draws on developer resources that weren't always available and eventually the code became more brittle and harder to maintain. ButterCMS has allowed our marketing team to do their work without feeling frustrated trying to build content. This means they utilize their time better and developers aren't spending all their time maintaining the codebase.

  ### 4. Excellent software for copywriters

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Susan S. | Beauty Copywriter, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2020

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

A great CMS platform - easy to navigate and great for freelancers and remote staff. Everything lives in one place for all involved to see. Just drop in draft to get immediate results on how to maximize copy for SEO and targeted audience.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

No complaints. No bells and whistles - if that is something you are looking for. Straight forward.

**Recommendations to others considering Butter CMS:**

Definitely give it a try !

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

How to maximize SEO, highlight subject matters and draw in more readers, audience.

  ### 5. I have found Butter CMS Customer Support to be responsive and thorough.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Doug C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 05, 2020

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

While I did not create the layout, I liked the ease of customization and data entry.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

We ran into a few bugs throughout the process that delayed development.

**Recommendations to others considering Butter CMS:**

Nothing comes to mind. Thank you for asking.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used Butter CMS to input content for our app build.

  ### 6. A simple yet flexible platform - highly recommend!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lucas T. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2020

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

We primarily use butter for marketing purposes, using it for content growth. The best thing about Butter is that it's easy to stand up (transition speed was key for us). Furthermore, we like how the foundational elements of pages can be changed over time seamlessly. This was reassuring, knowing that we could make fast decisions early on and iterate as our content/marketing strategy shifted.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

To fully leverage Butter you need to be or have front-end developer support. This is not a platform for "non-technical" folks looking for a WYSIWYG platform out of the box. Once you get it set up, adding content is super simple, but it takes an initial setup period.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Butter solved our content scaling and design flexibility needs.

  ### 7. Combination of great API/doc and support we were able to very fast implement our own blog

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Martin . | CTO & Partner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2020

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

Perfect documentation and simple powerful API

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

Search API for blog post is not implemented in JAVA library.
Please implement Create/Delete function on screens for managing categories/tags (blog posts).

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our own blog - value based content for our customers. Benefit for us was clear: we do not need to develop our own database and full management. Blog API provide not only simple "save" of title/description -> but also SEO tags, categories and tags. ButterCMS own CDN for images is also benefit (we do not need to implement our own storage for images in posts).

  ### 8. Simple and easy to use/implement plus amazing customer support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ivie C. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2020

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

The flexibility and the fact that ButterCMS worked with any tech stack plus the documentation/support made it very easy to implement.

Our original content server was heavily customized and it was difficult to make updates since no one knew PHP. With ButterCMS, the engineers had a much easy time integrating it into our site. When and if they encountered issues or had questions the super responsive and helpful customer support was always there to help resolve the issues.

Also, as a PM working with a remote team of engineers on different time zones, it made my job easier being able to update content on the site directly without requiring a lot of dev work.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

Nothing major but the one thing that comes to mind is the text editor. It was a bit difficult to customize blog articles with things like bullets, assign header tags etc without messing up the format. Also I would have liked an integration with photo providers :)

**Recommendations to others considering Butter CMS:**

Its a pretty cool CMS plus you can get a trial to see how it works. The documentation online is also pretty helpful.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The content on our site was outdated and we needed a way to post blog articles to help users make decisions. By implementing ButterCMS, we were able to improve our SEO rankings which in turn boosted our acquisition and engagement so all in all it was a very good idea.

  ### 9. New User's Experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2020

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

I like the simplicity of ButterCMS. I used many platforms before and ButterCMS is the easiest to use as far as I know. Especially formatting texts such as font, text size, heading...etc is so flexible and I do not have to be limited by the given options.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

Setting up takes time, but once you set up everything, it will go smoothly. Also, if it would be perfect if we can decide the space between the rows. For the technical writers, the size of code snippets might be a problem.

**Recommendations to others considering Butter CMS:**

You have to use it if you want a simple platform for your website.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am uploading technical articles and it makes uploading and publishing processes easier than other platforms. Simple and flexible. I can play with my texts like I am working on Word. That's the best part.

  ### 10. Easy JAMstack Integration. Great customer support!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Morgan W. | Application Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 18, 2020

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

The ease of use of the API in my blog has been seamless. The interface stays consistent so any between upgrades, and it's all restful. The CMS solution makes it very easy to live in the JAMstack world and manage my content from one place.

For an example use case: if I wanted to setup content that defined how navigation looked, I just have to have the housing and design setup on the front-end and inject that data from their API. Simple! If I had to modify the content in any way, I can progressively enhance my content with ease pushing simply updates without much heavy lifting. Other benefits along the first example include the flexibility to define your content and collections freely for your needs.

Lastly, the customer support is very responsive with quick resolution.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

I like everything about Butter CMS so far. There was a hangup I had near the beginning of using the admin panel for creating collections and viewing the full list. I gave them a suggestion a while back on how to make this make more sense, and I see that they've improved on it so they do listen to the voice of the customer.

The other thing I'd like to see better implemented is the response interface and accessing the inner content apart from the meta data.

**Recommendations to others considering Butter CMS:**

Depending on you tech stack, I'd highly recommend this solution as a plug and play to lift functionality out of your front-end.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The JAMstack is a growing entity, and this tool helps increase my development time by lifting logic I'd create in the front-end to the CMS.

  ### 11. Nothing Matches the Simplicity

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2020

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

Butter CMS was extremely easy to integrate into our Node.js application and the docs made everything clear. The interface/UI was easy to use and packed with enough features to act as an excellent blogging platform. Post/Page data was always lightning fast to load. The support was always friendly and helpful.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

The pricing tiers may not match all use cases.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Setting up a CMS was too much overhead for our lightweight application. Butter CMS made adding an SEO optimized block to your site extremely easy.

  ### 12. It's good.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 07, 2020

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

It's a perfectly fine product that will save you headaches.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

There's not a ton about Butter that I dislike.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Landing pages, testimonials, faqs, etc.

  ### 13. Just what I was looking for

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aaron B. | Technical Principal, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

I used Butter CMS for a project with one organization that I worked for, and when I had similar requirements at my next job, I immediately recommended it there because I knew that working with it again would be perfect for me.

As a developer (formerly) and technical architect with a lot of experience with HTML, CSS, Javascript, and several server-side rendering languages, I prefer to build my UI from the ground up, so using a headless CMS is a no-brainer for me and Butter CMS is the best one I've found. It's been able to provide all of the functionality that I've needed on the projects I've used it on, and it's not overly complex so I don't feel like I'm only utilizing 10% of the product. Similarly, the simplicity implies to me minimal overhead.

The documentation is great, and the support team has been excellent regarding both response time (usually same day - within an hour or so, even) and efficacy.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

I don't have any particular thing that I "dislike" at the moment. As I mentioned above, the support team is great so any time I've had an issue I've reached out to them and resolved it quickly.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As I mentioned under "What do you like best?" the main problem for me is otherwise having to rely on CMS platforms that take too much control away from the developer and/or require you to essentially learn to use that CMS like you'd learn to write another language. I want to bring to the table my frontend, my backend API's, decisions related to authentication and all of that, and I just want Butter to house my content and provide an interface where the people responsible for content on our website can go and make those changes, and that's exactly what it provides: no more, no less.

  ### 14. Super easy, quick-start tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adriel L. | Host, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

It was so easy to start using and publishing blog posts. Took less than an hour!

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

The standard design isn't great, but they've got a robust github with css files for customization.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Wanted a blog on our website to drive engagement and inbound. They helped do that easily.

  ### 15. Easy for both your content and tech teams.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeffrey M. | Co-Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2020

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

We've used ButterCMS since day 1 at Bottlecode. We were able to implement our basic content strategy in half a day using ButterCMS and our content team loves the product. I can only recall one day with some intermittent downtime due to their upstream CDN and the team was responsive. Their technical support is top-notch, too.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

I'd love more flexibility around creating my own "components" to add to page types as well as validation rules and hooking into our own data, but that's teetering close to custom CMS territory.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use ButterCMS to power our "Skincare 101" education portal at Bottlecode as well as highly-customized landing pages we use to test creative strategies.

  ### 16. Easy and Flexible

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

Butter CMS allows me to make content pages quickly and easily while being flexible and powerful enough to allow for the needs of my company. On the rare occasion I have an issue, the team at Butter CMS was very quick to help me find a resolution - even going far as to troubleshoot an issue on my end.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

A few more options with blog posts in the API would be great the editor for the raw html/text could be a little nicer but these are very minor complaints.

**Recommendations to others considering Butter CMS:**

Butter CMS is great for quickly and easily adding content and flexible enough to customize. The team is always on hand to help out and work through any issues you might encounter.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Essentially, ButterCMS allows for our online sales platform to rapidly make pages for all of our products. The well documented API makes it extremely easy to update our content dynamically and customize it to fit our needs.

  ### 17. Very Responsive Support!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2020

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

I've reached out to the Butter CMS support staff several times, and each time, they have been extremely responsive, helpful, and comprehensive! In her latest response, Nikki included a video and a screenshot to help diagnose and walkthrough the problem, which proved invaluable to my team.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

I don't have anything to share for this.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am primarily using butter to add content to our company's website.

  ### 18. Exactly what every site needs + great support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike T. | Founder & CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

I love having control of my website content without having to use WordPress or another awful CMS. The language option makes localization super easy. Their support is awesome. I made a complicated request and it was taken care of within 24 hours.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

On some of the pages it can be problematic to have to scroll down to view all the content boxes.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allow us to make all the changes we need to the site and nothing more. No WordPress!

  ### 19. ButterCMS is amazing and I can see it being so much more!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brandon J. | Team Lead / Manager | Project Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 12, 2019

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

I made the decision to switch from Contentful to ButterCMS after doing a bit of shopping around / research of the current HeadlessCMS offerings.

ButterCMS is an API first platform, served in JSON in a mostly RESTful way. It was definitely built with developers in mind, which is what makes its integration, setup time, and delivery among the top praised aspects of the platform/service.

Here are some of the best features:
- Collections and the ability to order fields and items
- The Page engine to build static and templated pages
- A Blog engine that serves a collection of Posts with SEO in mind
- Great documentation in multiple languages and frameworks
- Integration with Filestack / CDN
- Page Preview
- And last but not least, an absolutely amazing Customer Service team, super responsive and helpful!

Things that really impressed me:
- I reported a bug and it was fixed over the weekend. That's dedication!
- Our Marketing team loved the ease in which they can now manage content in comparison to their experience with Contentful
- Real conversations with the Co Founder and Customer Success team
- Getting informed of new features and being asked for input on what would make this service better

Overall, I would highly recommend this over other Headless CMS services I have tried and evaluated.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

I think the admin interface is showing its age from a UI perspective, but is generally great from a UX perspective. Regardless, it is very usable and needs little to no on-boarding to using it, which my team loves!

There really just isn't much to dislike about this service!

**Recommendations to others considering Butter CMS:**

Definitely give this Headless CMS a try, they even have a developer tier (free) that allows you to use most of the features of the platform.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our team set out to solve the problem of having TWO CMSs run our marketing site. We had a blog in Wordpress and the rest of the site was in React/Gatsby/Contentful.

Managing two CMSs was a pain. Matching UI elements in two completely different stacks was a nightmare. The marketing team in particularly dislikes Contentful for various reasons, so I was tasked for exploring alternatives.

After integrating with Butter, we were able to get the best features of Wordpress (Preview, Edit history, Blog Engine, SEO) plus the ability to essentially build custom admin forms (Page engine), all through a single CMS. Pulling the site through a traditional SSR application gave us the ability to run our site similar to a Wordpress architecture, which was important to the Marketing Team.

  ### 20. ButterCMS on a Progressive Web App

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Geoffrey M. | Account Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2019

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

We were able to seamlessly integrate ButterCMS into our existing Progressive Web App (PWA) to help provide our community with more resources and grow our digital marketing. We are able to publish content regularly to our PWA and grow our marketing efforts.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

It would be tough to say that there is anything in particular that we dislike. Our development team was able to hook up to ButterCMS's API relatively easily and get our blog up and running very fast.

**Recommendations to others considering Butter CMS:**

They have a lot of user support documentation that is very helpful for development team in getting ButterCMS set up on your platform.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We built our PWA using Stenciljs and since it is framework-free and based on web components we wanted something that would integrate seamlessly. Additionally, we wanted something that would allow us to publish new content to our website that did not require developers, designers, and QA testers. We discussed custom building a blog and a CMS but the time and investment was tough to justify because we dedicate most of our time to client work. ButterCMS allows anyone on our team to easily publish new content to our PWA without the need of skilled developers or designers.

  ### 21. Very good headless CMS with all the features necessary for your blog.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 08, 2020

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

They have clear documentations and an easy to use API.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

They can send too many email reminders for various things at times.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's a great headless CMS service to integrate a blog in custom coded sites.

  ### 22. Amazing Customer Service!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh E. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

They really make me feel valued as a customer. They work WITH you. It's not as though it's their way or the highway. They have amazing documentation for a variety of web frameworks (I'm using Gatsby).

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

The only downside I've experienced so far is that you need the Business Plan for Localizations but like I said previously they were willing to work with me to come to a solution.

Also, having the ability to create some structure for all your Collections would be helpful.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was initially only thinking of using them for my blog content but now all the static information for my entire site is hosted with them. What a great way to organize you content.

Localization management is also a huge boon and it brings my site accessibility to a new level.

  ### 23. LOVE THIS HEADLESS BUTTERCMS!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Loc M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

The best thing I like about Butter CMS is their support and engineer teams. They're very helpful whenever you need them. Also I love the API and documentation, very handy with multiple programming language doc, make it a lot easier to integrate.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

I would say the speed of the API a bit slow, but then I believe my query was collecting too much data and hence why it's slow. Still, the API-based CMS is very amazing, cannot go back to Wordpress once you starts with ButterCMS!

**Recommendations to others considering Butter CMS:**

Take your time to go through documentation. You will learn a lot.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We want to make it a lot easier to publish our content. Now we can have anyone in our office to update content, and the engineer team wouldn't have to worry anymore.

  ### 24. Easy and quick to set up!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2020

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

Butter was easy to use and implement. I was looking to ship something quick and Butter definitely didn't disappoint!

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

We haven't found anything we dislike yet.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Replaced our custom CMS. Saved me a bunch of work. Increased our app performance.

  ### 25. Simple as can be, with powerful features and great customer support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dillon B. | Front End Developer, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

Butter made it extremely easy to add a CMS backend to my website. The implementation is as simple as building your content structure on the admin panel, and then using your API key to pull in all the content via HTTP requests (or it's just as easy, if not easier to use Butter's libraries)

The ability to use references that link to other content types is extremely powerful, and can even let you move some logic from your app to the CMS. For example, I had to define a mapping of US States to Regions (Midwest, Northeast, etc). Instead of doing this in the application itself, I defined a State content type on Butter, added all 50 states, and then defined a Region content type that was composed of a list of States. Someday we may have to define a "Pacific Northwest" region or break the original ones down to smaller ones, and that change will be seamless thanks to Butter's flexible content types and linking. This type of reference ability allows for less business logic in the application which I love.

The customer service is also stellar and they were quick to concisely answer all of my questions about certain features and which feature would suit my individual use case the best way.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

I like everything about Butter, but it is a little bit leaner than some other comparable solutions. It more than makes up for this with its cheaper price tag & comparable features to other headless externally hosted CMSs but there are some features I would like to see in the future.

For example, there is not a way that I know of to validate input in to the CMS (other than marking a field as required), so your "content inputters" must be diligent.

**Recommendations to others considering Butter CMS:**

If you are looking to add a CMS to a pre-existing website, you want to leverage powerful dynamic CMS features, and implementation time / cost are big factors in making the decision, ButterCMS is the ideal solution for you.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Butter to add a CMS backend to our existing website. It's been incredibly simple and easy to add the service and pull the CMS data in to our site via their API. We've been able to move almost all of our copy out of the application and in to the CMS, reducing engineering overhead for copy related tasks. We've even been able to move some business logic (which I detailed above) in to the CMS.

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

It has a super clean interface, it is easy to use, easy to customise, and just generally ideal. It takes me very little time to create blogs that are very high quality. That's not because I am in any way good at content. Butter just makes everything come together and look great with little effort.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

So far, nothing.

If I ever have even the smallest concern, I can ping in livechat and get a solid response within minutes. I'm halfway round the planet, and I still get ridiculously good support from the butter team.

**Recommendations to others considering Butter CMS:**

There are a lot of CMS platforms out there. Most of them will just about do the job, but with butter, there is so much opportunity to delve that little bit further.

It provides fantastic functionality to really maximise the SEO and general impact.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It means we can have a powerful, gorgeous blog without spending a tonne on it.

It is fantastic for SEO and highly optimised cross-platform, making it the ideal tool for pretty much anyone.

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

The simplicity of Butter CMS is the part we like the most along with how quickly we were able to adapt it for our complex requirements.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

Nothing to dislike. It does exactly whats written on the tin and more.

**Recommendations to others considering Butter CMS:**

Definitely recommended if you are looking for a fantastic headless CMS to power your applications. Incredibly fast support as well.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing content for our realtime Travel Disruption Insurance product. We needed a headless CMS for storing content in multiple languages. ButterCMS was the best software we found.
The technical support from ButterCMS has been among the best we've encountered among all the service providers.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

User management is a little clunky, but workable.

Get it

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Butter CMS has really helped us manage our blog content in a consistent, reliable fashion.

  ### 29. Headless, but thoughtful, Butter is just right.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luke G. | Content Specialist, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

Butter's most obvious benefit is simplicity. It does not require any specialized technical knowledge. It doesn't require digging to find solutions for simple problems. It doesn't need a lot of training to utilize. It's the epitome of plug-and-play simplicity for content creators.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

The only problem: I would love if Butter automatically saved progress.

**Recommendations to others considering Butter CMS:**

If you need a simple and efficient content management system, this is a great route to take. It does exactly what I need it to.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can quickly:

1. Collaborate. Everyone on the team can see what's coming and what's being worked on.
2. Publish. We can publish straight to our web app's blog seamlessly.
3. Create and change URL slugs. Basic functionality that's easy to access and even easier to utilize.
4. Use simple SEO tools. It does what it's supposed to. No wizardry required. Less is more!
5. End-to-end solution. I don't need plugins or hackneyed daisy chains of mismanaged and deprecated software just to publish content.

It's made publishing and drafting content a frictionless experience.

  ### 30. Super easy to use from a developer's perspective

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Writing and Editing | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

Documentation and customer support. Jake has responded quickly both times I had questions. The documentation is clear for just about any modern tech stack.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

We were initially hesitant if Butter would work with our use case (a custom blog with specific routes, css, etc.) and nearly switched to WordPress because we determined we wouldn't be able to use the 300 blog posts included in the startup tier; however, after speaking with Jake, he informed us that we can do what we needed with the Page Types feature. I think they were able to work with us on the pricing given our particular situation.
I think maybe adding a pricing tier that favors pages instead of blog posts would help those in a similar situation as us reach a decision. We are very glad to have reached out to the Butter Support team in retrospect.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SEO, hot swapping content, reusability within our own web application.

  ### 31. Flexible

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

ButterCMS is very useful in giving us the flexibility to create a website exactly to our liking through code, while still allowing the content to be edited without the need to know how to write code. I also appreciate the great customer support that is received when we have questions or issues.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

there is nothing I do not like about ButterCMS

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to make changes to our website without having to always ask a developer to make the changes for us

  ### 32. Butter is easy and effective

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brad G. | Full Stack Developer, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

Butter CMS is very easy to install and use, for the developer and content editor. It only took about an hour to fully integrate Butter into my Next.js/React app. The editor is easy and has just enough formatting options to make it powerful, but not so many options as to introduce headache for coordinating with the CSS in my app. Uploading media is easy. Interface and feel are a million times better than WordPress.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

Very few complaints. I have asked for image metadata to be available.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I chose Butter because it allows us to easily manage a blog within the context of a custom app of our choice. Butter was the cleanest and easiest of the options I explored.

  ### 33. Butter will save your butt

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Todd D. | Director of Web and Mobile, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 07, 2018

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

If you are doing a modern site or app (node, Angular, React, Vue etc) ButterCMS allows content to be updated without pushing a new build. It is your backend plus an easy interface that even marketing people can figure out.

Think of a field value, and Butter lets it be updated externally by others so you don't have to. All their stupid spelling mistakes and content updates can proceed 24/7 without you even knowing.

A huge huge benefit for s since we wanted to run an all-Angular shop from products to website.

Documentation is complete with clear examples.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

This has all been fixed but at first the interface was difficult to understand. There was some jargon like "Workspaces" that took time to visualize.

**Recommendations to others considering Butter CMS:**

Do it.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Everyone can access the site and update content without bothering engineering. They can push immediate updates that get our message out there instantly.

  ### 34. Great value and simplicity at a great price

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

The ability to publish, manage or update content without the help of our engineering team. Great documentation and customer support. Overall, great value at a great price.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

Implementation is still a bit too technical for me to really say, with authority, that I dislike anything.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Removing the need for a WordPress blog and a redirect. Our ultimate goal was to gain the SEO benefits of having all keyword-rich content on our domain and Butter helped us do it with ease.

  ### 35. Impressive customer support!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott R. | President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 03, 2018

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

We were initially attracted to ButterCMS because they seemed to understand the needs of the RoR community with plenty of good, concise documentation. I love that they roll out new enhancements and features often and respond to feature requests. I emailed supporting asking if I could use HTML snippets inside ButterCMS pages and Jake at Butter actually took the time to create a custom screencast just for me!

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

I really can't think of anything that I dislike about ButterCMS.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This was our first CMS system so we wanted other, non-HTML types, to be able to contribute and update content without knowing how to write code.

  ### 36. Easy to integrate into my WebBlog!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lisa D. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2018

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

Using Blog Engine Class Objects is easy to integrate into my ASP.NET code. The documentation provided information about each class object and its attributes. In comparison to other headless CMS products I have tried to integrate with that used complex JSON structures, this one was the most simplest. I created the site and integrated it with the CMS in less than a day.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

Pricing for non-personal sites is high. However, if you are building for a personal site, contact their sales team and they will grant you access to a personal plan for free, with a few links on your site.

**Recommendations to others considering Butter CMS:**

The best source of information was found here: https://github.com/buttercms/buttercms-csharp#postsresponse-class

However, if you aren't familiar with MVC, you can still integrate using the Class Objects found on this page using ASP.NET.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For a simply blog, it provides a easy to integrate tool for the developer, and an editorial tool that is not as complicated for the author. I have worked with individuals that are looking for a simply interface to enter content without a huge learning curve. ButterCMS provides this. I use ASP.NET to integrate the content into my web template, so all I had to do was load the reference, call the appropriate class object and match up the attributes. There was even an IEnumerable interface that fed into a DataTable to connect to my data-type controls. I had to create a blog for my Master's thesis project, and was able to do it within a few hours.

  ### 37. A Fast, Novel and Convenient Way to Manage Content in an Enterprise Website

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mario Jose V. | Cloud Solutions Architect (Heroku, AWS, Salesforce) - Project Manager, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

The UI to manage content is very simple to use by Content Managers. Content Managers and Administrators can easily manage blog posts, content fields, page types, pages, media library and internationalization.

The ButterCMS support and engineering teams are great; they offered us a lot of help to support different requirements for our Customer, including the development of new improvements and features which was extremely useful for the success of the implementation project.

The API and documentation are very complete and easy to integrate from different programming languages, in our case we integrated ButterCMS into a Rails 5 application, and the experience for developers was very simple.

The performance and scalability of the API are great, we executed performance tests with more than 12.000 requests per minute, and the API worked without latency problems.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

When we started to use ButterCMS there were some UI improvements Content Managers identified, however once we sent the improvement list to the Support Team, they implemented different improvements providing a great experience for us and our Customer.

**Recommendations to others considering Butter CMS:**

It is a great tool/service to manage content for simple and complex websites.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We implemented ButterCMS on an Enterprise Website for one of our Customers that wanted to migrate from a commercial and traditional CMS solution. The website has a lot of pages with different templates, it is available in three languages, and it is deployed on Heroku Salesforce.

The main business benefits for the Customer are:

* Easy to manage content by Content Manager and Developers.
* Flexibility to model different types of content (products, services, pages, FAQs, terms and conditions, landing pages, etc.)
* Ability to configure fields for SEO and social networks.
* Agility and easy to integrate Content from different applications (web and mobile) using the API.
* Reduce the load time for pages, improving the user experience, improving SEO, increasing page views, and generating more leads for sales teams.
* Very easy to integrate for Heroku applications using the ButterCMS Add-on.
* Cost saving due to the ButterCMS takes care of all the infrastructure maintenance and operation.

  ### 38. Exceptionally easy to setup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lee C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2018

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

I work as a senior developer for a digital agency and have trialled many different CMS, especially headless CMS recently. Of them all ButterCMS was - by a long margin - the easiest to get up and running with. It took me just under 6 hours from start to finish to build my blogging site (using .NET Core 2.0 MVC), including the time to register for hosting and write my first blog.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

The wysiwyg editor could be better. I'd personally prefer a markdown option. Overall though, it provides everything needed for a blog.

**Recommendations to others considering Butter CMS:**

Consider your use-case and requirements carefully before choosing any provider - but I highly recommend Butter CMS

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Speed of development has to be #1. No more fighting with silly ID's or spending hours trying to figure out how to make routing work with odd identifiers. Butter CMS uses the url slug as the identifier which makes routing in my application a breeze.

  ### 39. Served as the right tool for blogging without any content management woes.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2018

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

The detailed documentation that gets any project up and running within no time is the best aspect of butter.

Also the content updates in seconds right after you hit publish, so that you don't need to wait for your project to build.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

Butter is best for managing content for blogs & static informative website. It will be good to have dynamic data feature which updates in butter itself based on user inputs.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest benefit is that you don't need to spend days setting up a database, spending the rxtra dimes on it as well as spending extra time on content creation.

Butter manages all your data and lets you create content on the fly. It adds value to startups & medium sized business as they might not always have enough staff & budget to do all that.

  ### 40. So Easy to Customize to Meet Requirements

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Karina C. | Front End Developer, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

With some easy building blocks like collections, relationships, and basic content fields, you can make about content types that can fit any client. Super easy to use even easier to install. I used Rails to install a blog and their Custom Pages and Fields Their customer service is great. I always work late but they'll message me before 7am with any question I had the night before.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

The image loader can be annoying sometimes, there's a lapse in UI since they're using a third party uploader.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to build a website for my client that gives them the ability to easily update their own website and keep it organized.

  ### 41. Fantastic Developer Experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew W. | Founder & CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2018

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

Service & support were absolutely excellent!

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

Cancelling a subscription requires email

**Recommendations to others considering Butter CMS:**

From our experience, this is by far the easiest CMS to implement in a React application.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're using ButterCMS as a headless CMS for our website and web application. It could not have been a better fit. Before introducing ButterCMS to my team, they believed there was no such thing as a 'headless CMS'.

  ### 42. Meets All of Our Content Needs!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joe H. | Principal Software Engineer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

Customer service and support have been incredible from ButterCMS. Seriously it is so nice to see someone care about their product so much!

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

Whats not to like? I have enjoyed nearly every element of ButterCMS. It does take a little time to get used to the concept of a headless CMS but beyond that, there is nothing not to love about it.

**Recommendations to others considering Butter CMS:**

Give it a chance! There is little it cant do. It is SO SIMPLE to use but powerful enough for most any project!

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a growing SaaS company that has multi-channel content needs nothing has made it easier than ButterCMS! Jake and team have created a dynamic, simple to use product. It is crazy simple to stand up content for any website in minutes! Better than this is their great customer support. I have never had to wait more than a few minutes to get my questions answered! That is something that you simply just don't get from other solutions.

  ### 43. Finally, a blog platform that isn't hampered by conventions

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Greg H. | Lead Front End Developer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 22, 2018

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

Butter's power lies in it's simplicity.

The blog creation UI is simple and easy-to-use, without layer upon layer of nested menus to dig through. It makes it easy for my marketers to set up blogs and have confidence that they will pass along all SEO data and even their custom formatting.

As a front end developer, it's made my life so much easier! I was able to use their node module to pull in all of our blogs and build out static pages like magic! Plus, they use webhooks, so our site will do a new build when our marketers are done publishing their posts.

The documentation and support are really top-notch, as well!

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

I think the UI for blog creation is pretty basic, and could do with some upgrades.

**Recommendations to others considering Butter CMS:**

ButterCMS is a fantastic service and their support is out of this world. If you're looking for a blog platform that is fast and lightweight, and allows you to use your data how you want, I think Butter is hard to pass over.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Butter to host and serve my company's blog data as JSON. Upon pulling my data using their API, I marry that data into a base blog-template and generate static files for each of my blog pages. This way I'm able to easily stand up all of my blog pages in the same format and they are all crawled for their individual SEO tags.

  ### 44. Power/Fast/Easy - All in one!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lucas S. | Project Manager, Management Consulting, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 06, 2018

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

Easy to set up, easy to work on, a lot of functionalities... and a GREAT customer service, always ready to help you in everything that you need.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

The UI is really clean and easy to use, but I believe that a great feature would be a navigation using tabs, to better organize the pages that have a lot of fields.

**Recommendations to others considering Butter CMS:**

Just do it. Butter is a powerful application, and if you need assistance you will have a great customer experience.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were developing a project in a brand new architeture (using Heroku platform and integrating with Salesforce) with a rails app, and Butter gave us an easy to integrate platform, which turned the process of managing content in the website from days to seconds.

  ### 45. Very easy CMS back end to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steve E. | Senior Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 03, 2018

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

Coming from a Drupal background, setting up my content was very easy. Probably the easiest thing, though, was how easy it was to get my Vuejs app up and running. I just cloned their sample app, added my info in, implemented my custom Bulma template, and I was up and running.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

There's not much to dislike. If I had to pick a nit, when in the UI, even when you are logged in, the main nav still shows the "Log In" link.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Launching my website with a Vuejs front end, this provided me with a simple-to-use back end for my data.

  ### 46. Just like butter, but better.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David V. | Lead Front-End developer, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 06, 2018

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

Simple to config, easy to use. The doc is very clear and the api very fast. I think this is the most easy api I had to use for the past three years and I'm going to tell everyone to use it when they want to create a simple blog application even a complex one. The filter you can use on every call is just sugar in the mouth. Just perfect for me.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

The only thing I can ask is to provide filters to retrieve tags (like page_size) and maybe a feature who can tell you the most views articles.
- Support next format of img like .webp with jpg fallback (ex).

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can create a blog using a simple API without coding any back-end stuff.

  ### 47. Best thing since sliced bread... Buttered bread

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dillon B. | Full Stack Engineer, Non-Profit Organization Management, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2018

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

I love how easy it was to add ButterCMS into my existing Rails application without a hassle. The trial period is perfect for testing the waters. The support is exceptional.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

Being such a small non-profit and only using Butter's capabilities for a small subset of our business. I wish there were cheaper options. Even a discounted product adds up. I wish there was an option for snippets rather than full pages.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have certain pages on our website that will be updated by other-than-IT personnel. Butter makes it easy for them to add content.

  ### 48. CMS Butter API

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yuliya Y. | Software Engineer, Publishing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2018

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

ButterCMS has a very easy set up and a good documentation.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

Would be good to have an ability to POST

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy access to information from a client's side. Instead of using CMS that require PHP, this one was very convenient for use in React. I wish it had an ability to send information back (POST, PUT etc), but I guess Butter CMS is still growing. Good luck with your service!

  ### 49. Great alternative for moving off wordpress

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Wenzhe G. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 29, 2018

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

Maintain control over look and feel, nav functionality. Let content writers focus just on producing content. Easy documentation. Responsive support.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

Could be more pages included in basic plan.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Get rid of separate, wordpress hosted site. Incorporate content marketing directly on main property and not reinvent the wheel.

  ### 50. Solid blog platform

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bruce A. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 22, 2018

**What do you like best about Butter CMS?**

This makes adding our blog platform to https://www.printavo.com/blog very easy. It's been a nightmare before we discovered ButterCMS getting the routes setup we the way we want.

**What do you dislike about Butter CMS?**

The editor could be a bit better but it's improving.

**What problems is Butter CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Butter allows us to have the URL routes for the best SEO potential possible
