Easy to review legal invoices before payment,  relevant information gathered on the platform, better overviews of matters and costs, possibility to report on relevant parameters, user friendly and easy to use. Easy to change settings without involving support. Possibilities for  customization, however, not on everything

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

Some of the functions are not 100% fit to my company's setup, but the system is flexible and often possible to find workarounds. It would be an improvement if the tool could be used to agree on an assignment/use of a Law firm on a matter (sign on Scope and Budget)

Improve processes, reduce time spent and better cost control, both through better review of invoices as well as giving insight and overview of the legal advice portfolio

We are still working on some issues dealing with timekeepers it would be helpful to move that along.

At this moment there is nothing that I dislike.

Simple invoice review feature - it helps our lawyers to easily approve/reject invoices; 
Timekeeper rates - this feature is constantly improved and it really helps me to quickly and easily check/approve the rates;
Budget feature - this feature has also been improved and helps us in our forecasts;
Reporting - simple and easy way to make tailor-made reports;
Accruals - although some reports are still being prepared by you manually, it's a very helpful and time-saving feature.

Customer support. Your company is assigned an account manager who sets up monthly calls to help work through issues and ensure success with the product.

It would be nice if there was more useful matter management functionality to the product. I believe having a broader use case would give users a desire to switch.

Brightflag helps our invoicing through e-Billing with outside counsel. It allows attorneys to focus more time on work and less time sorting through line items on invoices.

**What do you like best about Brightflag?**

All the software providers are good at selling software, but helping customers to succeed, especially in the long term, seems to be more of a challenge for many vendors. Brightflag has a CSM team that deserves the name. From the first day of the implementation period through go-live until today (2 years post-go-live), the Customer Success Management team has been working closely with us to help us in any way they can. The passion for customers and the can-do attitude are outstanding, and not once have we regretted choosing Brightflag and migrating all of our e-billing data to their platform. 
But equally important, the platform was accepted very well by our in-house legal counsels, who praised the excellent user interface and easy of use. Brightflag's AI-Powered software makes invoice review effortless and efficient and saves us time and money.

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

Nothing to dislike really. Some feature requests take some time to be implemented, but this is the reality of the software industry. Our suggestions are always heard, even when they cannot always be catered to. Brightflag Support always quickly addresses any issues, both from us as a customer and our law firms.

Brightflag helps us manage our outside counsel spend and gain visibility and insights. The AI-Powered invoice review process, the fact that law firms can submit invoices in PDF format and many more features help us to be more productive and save money.

Brightflag is an intuitive system that offers a holistic solution for managing legal matters and invoices.  Implementing Brightflag has helped our legal team manage operations more efficiently.  We have been able to reduce the manual burden of reviewing invoices and compiling data for analysis.  The system offers a high level of granularity and provides insights into the legal spending habits and details of our outside counsel relationships that will help us build strategic relationships.

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

Brightflag is advanced in many areas and has been helpful as we manage our matters and invoices, providing automation that reduces the review time for our team.  We have been working with the Brightflag team to discuss our need for additional functionality when allocating an invoice to a customer.  The current method takes more time than our team would like.

Brightflag solved our previous manual efforts for: invoice processing, matter management, submitting accruals to finance, reporting KPIs to leadership, building strategic relationships with outside counsel, and implementing tactical fee arrangements.

I like the financial analytics and workspace features best about Brightflag. The system is user-friendly and has excellent invoicing and budgeting processes. Workspace is a great additional feature for superior document management on complex matters/projects.

I wish workspace also had a mobile application feature but understand this is not the intention of the feature.

We have many issues with our budget process; we typically do not receive them, or they would be incomplete, inaccurate, etc. Brightflag streamlined the budget process. We also struggled with document management, and the workspace feature has significantly improved our ability to organize our documentation effectively,

Based on my experience, people at Brightflag are always ready to help their customers: support our ideas and try to find solutions even for our most complicated issues.

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

Dislike is a too strong word. Of course, there are functions in BF which need to be improved further (timekeeper rates and their approval process, etc.), but the company is working on these areas. Even if we sometimes have technical difficulties with the platform, the support team is always supportive and communicates transparently, so we can be sure our queries are properly handled.

**What problems is Brightflag solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since we have been using Brightflag, we have had better data quality and more comprehensive reporting opportunities. We can support the Legal Department's data-driven decision-making more effectively.
Our PO, Invoice and Matter management related processes improved significantly. 
As we can rely on the data from the system, we have a better overview of our spend trends and a deeper understanding of our processes/areas where improvement would be required.

Brightflag has freed up a lot of time around invoice review and has helped to shorten our payment processing times.  Brightflag is also very helpful with tracking budgets and matters so we can stay on top of our spend.  Brightflag has been an invaluable tool when it comes to the technology of flagging invoices.

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

I can't think of a specific dislike.  If I ever do encounter an issue, I've found Brightflag's Support to be very quick to reply and efficient in solving my issue(s).

**What problems is Brightflag solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem we are solving is giving back time to our attorneys.  They no longer need to spend hours pouring over PDFs of invoices.  Brightflag points out suggested cost savings on invoices and allows us to revert to our vendors to ask for adjustments.  We've realized a large savings in the 11 months we've been using Brightflag.

Brightflag has the best customer support services I have ever experienced. The system is very user-friendly and it integrates perfectly with our existing legal management system (Xakia).
Brightflag is also a great tool for legal counsels to review the spending and make sure it in line with our billing guidelines and great for tracking legal spending for reporting purposes.

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

Can't think of anything that's Brightflag specific. It's more about our current account payable system which doesn't integrate with Brightflag, so the approvers sometimes need to approve the same invoice in 2 systems.

**What problems is Brightflag solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Due to the nature of the project, we don't have to pay for some invoices but want to keep them in the system for cost capturing, Brightflag's Customer Success Manager has helped us to create a new method to solve this problem, and it's been working well.

The overview of our billables has increased a lot. Especially when it comes to different departments and savings Brightflag, their customer succes managers and support department is top tier.

In general the service is digital. This makes it a little bit more difficult for some of the Brightflag users. Brightflag are always happy to help these users individually, so this isn't really a dislike.

Due to the overview you are more likely to save on your legal spend. Because of Brightflag we can adequately push back to law firms, if necessary.

Not having to rely on paper invoices and excel spreadsheet to analyse the data! 
Our Client Relationship Manager, Lauren Marion is the best! 
Visibility of invoices and tracking budgets and accruals.

Not being able to customise some items, eg. home page adjusted to our financial year.
Manually set up workflows as the system would not sync with our accounts systems.

The Brightflag platform is extremely intuitive and truly innovative. Having been involved in the design, implementation and management of third party solutions at NatWest, Brightflag has been joyful to work with. The solution itself is user friendly whilst being able to demonstrate its value to the business in many areas. Brightflag have provided immense support both pre and post implementation and no ask is too much. They're constantly wanting to know what they could develop to further help our business and potentially other clients, this has been what I believe sets Brightflag apart from other solutions on the market. Their constant innovation is what I believe sets them apart from the rest

There hasn't been any dislikes so far. We're working collaboritively to develop the tool and change certain things but these are more to ensure they work to their best for the business rather than dislikes

**What do you like best about Brightflag?**

The transparency between our corporation and external counsel is most important, and saves me time which translates into saving the Company money.  User interface of the application is intuitive and friendly.  This is exactly what my small in-house legal and compliance team needed!

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

Not about Brightflag, but my Company's roadblocks to the full API integration.

**What problems is Brightflag solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The time spent by our attorneys with invoice review has drastically reduced, so the return on investment is sound.
Communications between the billing departments of external counsel and us, for processing invoices and budgeting, is greatly enhanced.
Our finance time is looking forward to accurate estimates of legal spend in their forecasting, something we have been guessing at, based on previous quarter's spend.

There's a feature where you can make a customized drop-down with your options. The feature is a bit obtuse to add and remove options after it's created, but support took our complaint and is working on changing it.

Our company is using Brightflag as an automated billing solution, and it's been useful in processing information quickly and efficiently to our billing department.

Brightflag is laser-focused on ensuring its product is delivering value for your company.  There is a tremendous amount of active follow-up by their customer success team.  It's not a meaningless post-sales check-in with their client, but rather its consistent weekly follow-up to provide actionable recommendations based on many behind-the-scenes data analyses.

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

Nothing.  Brightflag is a straightforward group of people to work with.  Any issues that may arise are quickly resolved.

Legal Spend Management.  The system has been showing  a significant potential for cost-savings.

**What do you like best about Brightflag?**

I worked with the Brightflag team in the RFP and the Implementation projects. During both they kept a trustworthy attitude, backed by demonstration... and facts afterwards. We were looking for a more user friendly tool, and that's exactly what we got! We always had the good feeling of being listened too and taken into serious consideration because our success meant Brightflag's success. With Brightflag implemented, we transformed our e-billing process from mere invoice processing to valuable insights generation and propagation.

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

I did not dislike anything. There is room for improvement in enabling their AI to operate in languages other than English, which would open up regional and local business opportunities.

**What problems is Brightflag solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We fixed our e-billing process by enabling simple invoice ingestion and analytical observation of the business we are doing with external law firms and other legal vendors. To be noted that he latter population was out of scope from our previous e-billing  system due to the LEDES file format barrier.

**What do you like best about Brightflag?**

We're a busy, lean, globally distributed team with responsibility for keeping on top of legal hot spots, anticipating legal issues and tracking global legal spend. Brightflag not only cuts down on admin time (the review and paying of invoices), but gives us a whole host of relevant, centralised and structured data which translates into valuable management information we can use to make better decisions with.

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

As with any tech, you need to build processes and controls in the background to make sure the tech is adopted widely and is fit for purpose. No two organisations are alike and no single piece of tech or software will cleanly dovetail with existing processes without some work to map out how best to configure and deploy it. That said, the Customer Success team is there to help with just that, which takes the "sting" out of adopting new technology.

**Recommendations to others considering Brightflag:**

If you currently don't have a way of extracting meaningful management information from the legal spend your company incurs, and want to be more proactive in that regard, consider Brightflag as a solution.

**What problems is Brightflag solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're cutting down on time spent keeping track of invoices and reviewing them, and using that time for more value-added work. We also have more complete visibility over legal spend that might have been incurred outside the legal function which helps us intervene where needed, or find better ways of supporting the business in-house based on the data we see from the invoices coming in.

Interfaces are intuitive. Visuals are helpful and guiding. Invoice review page is dense but insightful

Machine learning is not done from scratch per each new customer.

Minor stuff. Would like more data on end-user engagement as part of onboarding and implementation.
Some notification reminders does not make sense or are not customizable

Issues: Challenging for lawyers to review invoices against guidelines in detail. Challenging to get granular statistics. Accruals are time consuming

The AI software has made invoice review against our outside counsel policy much more effective and less burdensome. In addition, the overall spend analytics are extremely helpful and something we are looking to further leverage as we consider budget planning for deals and the general corporate spend for next year. The team has also been really great about engaging with clients on how to make the platform better.

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

To be a single source for engaging with law firms on the business of an engagement (budget, scope, performance), it's still missing a few elements. We'd love to see more features to allow us to launch RFPs or rate the firms post-engagement.

**What problems is Brightflag solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our business is geographically dispersed and having a central view on legal spend was quite difficult, as was controlling the approval of all invoices by the relevant in-house attorney.  We also run a lean team and making sure that the administrative work behind what we do feels minimally invasive was an important part of choosing BrightFlag.

Not major, but the ability to integrate with existing systems within the business (i.e. Finance systems) would be a good feature going forward (as opposed to logging in to a standalone Brightflag platform).

If you need an easy to use, 'off the shelf' platform to track and control your external legal spend, Brightflag is the platform to use.

**What do you like best about Brightflag?**

Invoices are centralised, platform is efficient and workable, matter history and invoices are easily accessible. It's so time efficient and the automated invoice reviews really work. The platform saves time for both the administrator and reviewer of invoices. Very worthwhile.

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

In our organisation Brightflag is not interfaced with our accounts payable system.

**What problems is Brightflag solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Because we split some of our invoices across business units, we have worked with the Brightflag team to facilitate effective reporting at the matter level in Brightflag so these variations can be reflected in reporting. The Brightflag platform is very user friendly and, from an administrative perspective, a great benefit is the central deposit for all legal matters and legal invoices and the quick and efficient business unit reporting. From an invoice reviewer perspective the flagging process saves time and is very effective.

Brightflag is a fantastic one-stop-shop for monitoring and reviewing our legal spend. The platform itself is intuitive and easy to use, and no stone has been left unturned when it comes to providing a brilliant user experience. The Brightflag team are second to none when it comes to providing support, training and 'best practice' of the system.

I can't think of anything - we are very happy with the product and the service that we receive!

The flags against an invoice allow our lawyers to immediately identify potential cost savings without ever needing to trawl through pages of narrative, line by line. We're saving both money and our lawyers' time, which is extremely important. 

Vendors are also able to see live updates on the status on their invoice(s), so our Accounts Payable team are no longer being chased on whether the invoices have been received or scheduled for payment.

Brightflag did not work with us as a vendor providing a SaaS product but worked as a real partner who care for our business as their business. They saw every change requested by us as a potential enhancement which will benefit every clients they have. Their intention to grow with the client will help them grow their business.

Location and timezone difference. However to overcome this challenge, Brightflag employed a permanent onshore Customer Success Manager and also temporarily deputed Implementation Manager and Product Configuration Manager during the Implementation phase.

Legal spend validation against the agreed SLA and full visibility of the legal spend

**What do you like best about Brightflag?**

Ability to monitor your legal spend via detailed reports, flags raised when potential issues with invoices are identified, a central repository of all of your business' legal matters, with the ability to quickly download all associated invoices (which the business often wants to see!).  The fact you can set a budget and the platform lets you track if you have adjusted the budget.  Brightflag also means you can track 'lost' invoices when followed up by external counsel for late payment of invoices that you never in fact received!

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

Currently, our business has not linked our accounts payable to Brightflag as we use a couple of different systems.  While this is not Brightflag's fault, this does involve an extra 'step' in our payments' process.  Having said that, the approved invoices are emailed direct to the 'actioner', so time is saved in that aspect.

**Recommendations to others considering Brightflag:**

If you don't have a platform to centrally understand your legal spend, then you need to seriously consider Brigthflag as a way to manage this process efficiently and effectively.

**What problems is Brightflag solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Brightflag are helping us to identify all open matters, so we can look at internal versus external spend and how we best allocate resources.  We have been able to compare the spend of different vendors for similar matters and this further assists with resource allocation.
