**What do you like best about Brightflag?**

Brightflag is really easy to use, both for the frequent user and for the user that only now and then has to use the tool. Reviewing, approving and reporting is  very easy. Reporting is also very 'management friendly', both with ready made overviews and with a tool to build reports yourself. This tool is really intuitive as we almost never had to 'read the manual'. Support from Brightflag is good and pro-active.

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

The initial implementation takes lots of time, not because of the tool itself, but because one has to clarify the legal spend process first. All sorts of exceptions come to light in the invoice- and payment process and need to be taken care off before it can be implemented in Brightflag. So this is not so much a Brightflag issue as well as an internal process issue. However I guess that this will be a problem within every somewhat larger organisation. And as this is not related to the tool, it will be an issue with most other tools as well.

**What problems is Brightflag solving and how is that benefiting you?**

First and foremost: we immediately got a clear overview of our legal spend, including some anomalies that we might have missed otherwise. Additionally we could solve some reporting requirements. On the savings side: we still have to get started with that, but for us that is step two in the implementation process.

we would like to see a vendor database to be able to search and identify suitable vendors for particular matters; we miss a multilingual AI (German!)

We simplify our invoice approval process, and aim at realizing more saving potential identified by Brightflag. On the long run, we hope to be able to challenge our vendors more based on data-driven arguments

We recently implemented Brightflag as a switch over from another system. The implementation, the attention to detail, and the level of customer service has been incredible.

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

We have had some issues with data transfer and invoice payment status recognition, but between our internal team and the Brighflag team we are working through it. The response time from the Brightflag team & willingness to work with us has been amazing!

**What problems is Brightflag solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving our outside counsel / financial management spend. We are new to the platform, but we will be able to gain a better understanding of our spend in 2021.

**What do you like best about Brightflag?**

Brightflag's AI technology and ability to assist with applying billing guidelines to submitted invoices and flag any breaches is excellent.  All of the technology around invoices and billing is best in the industry.

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

Brightflag's Report Builder function is still a bit clunky and, in my opinion, likely requires a complete overhaul in order to effectively filter and report on the data in the system. My understanding is that this is on the product roadmap and will be forthcoming but hope to see this sooner rather than later.

**What problems is Brightflag solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Brightflag has allowed us to gain full visibility on our legal spend and effectively manage same, both internally and with external counsel.

It saves a huge amount of lawyer time in reviewing invoices, and flags up breaches / potential breaches that would likely be missed by the human reviewer

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

Nothing that I can think of - it works really well for us.

**What problems is Brightflag solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reducing invoice review time, flagging breaches of our Billing Guidelines, automating and auditing  the approval system, tracking the status of invoices, and tracking against budget.   The benefits are that it saved us significant time and cost.  We now have a very accurate outside spend reporting tool, which we didn't previously have, so as well as enabling the legal team to work more efficiently, we are now also much more across our spend and budget.

The interface is extremely user friendly and intuitive.  You don't have to search for what you are trying to find and reports are easily generated.

The initial population of historical data can take some time, but Brightflag's support team was very helpful with that process.

Brightflag has helped us to provide a better option for third party partners to manage invoices while allowing us greater insight into data supporting our external spend.

Easy to implement, train, onboard, use.  Customer service has been truly excellent.  I love watching the product mature and grow with user needs, but still has the streamlined, clean look and feel that I fell in love with.

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

It's clear that the BF product team works hard to make every single client happy, but I'm concerned there may be too many cooks in the kitchen and this end product will start to deviate from the minimalist platform I was looking for to process my invoices, control my budget, and prepare quick reports.

**What problems is Brightflag solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cost control and budget.  This product has made it easier to process and review invoices and allowed me the ready info at my fingertips when talking about my spend.

**What do you like best about Brightflag?**

The invoice approval system is easy and saves us a lot of time. Better still, the AI functionality saves us money. I don't think that we consistently reviewed our invoices before or challenged them sufficiently so we have make a cash positive move here.

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

It's a little expensive  - maybe in the future the cost will come down a little which will make it more accessible to smaller companies

It's definitely worth a look to see if you can secure savings that make the process aspect effectively free.

Our approval process is much easier. We have gained cost savings that would have been difficult to acheive with current headcount. The analytics are a bonus too

The fact that it's a one-stop shop for financial data  which will power informed future decision making within the company.

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

The fact that the data can sometimes be hard to consolidate but future product updates should address this issue.

**What problems is Brightflag solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The time savings are among the most important benefits the team has experienced. Having the invoices analysed by Brightflag's AI has saved hours for the team and has allowed us to focus on the key outputs. 
It has also allowed the team to refine our Outside Counsel panel. Having all that information on breached billing guidelines and savings makes it easier to justify the inclusion or omission of firms from our panel for our team and the wider business.

I especially simplicity and ease of use of user interface
Other functions I enjoy:
- Accruals Reminders to vendors
- Accrual Report 
- Report builder available for analyzing trending of expenses with specified criteria
- Approval Workflow set up per preferences
- Prompt support from Brightflag Support team

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

Accrual report's functionality can definitely be improved, such as accruals submitted in prior periods should be able to show up in the current month report and able to analyze whether the vendors have submitted the accruals for prior month and the difference between the two.

A standard format for resubmitted invoices - for example, Invoice# 12345 (original invoice) vs Invoice #12345R (resubmitted invoice)

Be able to select access for users whether they are given different roles. For example, department overview users can have access to approve timekeeper rates requests.

**What do you like best about Brightflag?**

The best thing about BrightFlag has been the service and support we receive. Questions and requests are never a problem, and the support has had a huge impact on helping us get BrightFlag up and running with our limited time and resources. BrightFlag meet with us regularly to discuss how things are going, and help us to brainstorm how we can ensure we are getting the most from the platform.

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

It is sometimes difficult to make sure all firms are aware of how the system works, and making sure they submit invoices correctly. That said, BrightFlag has been really helpful in resolving issues.

**What problems is Brightflag solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The key benefit for us has been getting a better understanding of the kinds of legal matters on which were spending.

Ease of use, cloud access, intelligent law firm invoice review algorithm, responsiveness of support and customer service team to queries, and continuing product updates.

System is fairly expensive although can pay for itself in savings. Some further interface improvements could be made.

It's a great e-billing system and really worth considering.

Faster review and processing of law firm invoices, reduced time delay between receipt of invoice and payment, reduced admin time spent on invoicing matters.

We implemented Brightflag recently and are overall pleased with the results. Not only are the analytics outstanding (this is my 3rd eBilling system), but the customer service and collaboration are top-tier.

The matter management piece could use some sophistication, and they still have some work to do on enhancing the profile security to better handle more complex organizations 

**Recommendations to others considering Brightflag:**

If you're seriously considering Brightflag, now is the time to begin a partnership with them. They are young and still happy to get customer feedback, and especially take that feedback forward into future design functionality. The customer service and responsiveness is personal, quick, and mutually beneficial. Also ask them what is on their roadmap - some great improvements coming down the pike.

We are replacing many manual AP processes and helping our internal staff get acclimated to a deeper level of invoice review and matter management.

Brightflag is very user friendly.  Matters can be opened very quickly.  Invoice review is quick and easy.  Brightflag's on-boarding team is very helpful and responsive.  We are now able to track our data more easily.

Brightflag's reporting features could be a bit more robust and easier to use.

With Brightflag, invoice review is much easier.  Custom flags allow us to more easily catch breaches of our billing guidelines.  We will be able to better track spend.

The complete flexibility to review all Invoice matters, the ability to sort the database tied to any attribute, to build custom Excel files to download, and much more.

After spending much time in the portal, I have come to like it's layout and operation - no dislikes.

**What problems is Brightflag solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Every now and then, the portal misfires and I have determine a workaround.  An example:  in approving and clicking on "Approve - Advance to the next Invoice,"  it will sometimes select an Invoice with an issue - not the next Invoice.

- If a firm uploads their invoice it can take too much time to display in the invoices dashboard for approvals.
- Internal lawyers should receive an email notification once an invoice has been uploaded for their review.

Data entry is no longer. We are tracking matters, and budget with Brighflag that has help our overhead costs

**What do you like best about Brightflag?**

BrightFlag not only flags items for our review, it also allows me to search and sort through the line items, so I can find what I need.  The review and adjustment process is so much more efficient and less time consuming than before.

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

We would like to be able to turn off certain flags and all evaluation of some vendors.  We are not yet able to do that.  Master data reporting is also an issue with which we struggle.  Ad hoc User Reporting on the whole seems to be a weakness.  Support is great about getting us through our questions, but it takes a while to get their responses and we often are past our deadlines when support is able to get to our requests.

The savings outweigh the pain of implementation and make spend management a known instead of an unknown

**What problems is Brightflag solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Consistent invoice review and better financial analytics of our legal invoices.  We have seen double digit percentage savings in legal invoices.

Some of the insurance specific parameters have required some work arounds. This is a small critique.

Reporting functionality and storage of data

**What do you dislike about Brightflag?**

The process is clunky and has added more steps to user processing time. 
Solicitors are unable upload counsel invoices or agent invoices, which is done manually by the users which is time consuming. 
No capability for a solicitor to tag the invoice as final invoice.

Ability to report on legal spend of each law firm
