We have been using Brightcove as our sole video hosting and delivery solution for 5 years, and overall it accomplishes everything we set out to do when implementing a new solutions partner.

Implementing the platform to our website was simple and very customizable and is now controllable through the Brightcove software and our in-house CMS. We use the software to host product videos on our site as well as all of our internal training and communications. Through the use of Brightcove's gallery system, we were able to create multiple dedicated websites to serve different functions. Our customer-facing video library was easy to build and houses all our outward-facing videos, and an internal video library was easily secured behind our single sign-on and has been a massive improvement for our intercompany communications.

Brightcove also brings several innovative technical features that have helped us improve our video program. Video interactivity, robust reporting that was easily connected to Google Analytics, and a keyword tagging system that allowed us to create automated playlists have all been stand out features for our team.

Their customer representatives and account managers have also been very responsive when helping with any technical problems and always helped find solutions quickly.

There is not much that I do not like about the platform overall. I do think that the navigation and folder structure can sometimes be a bit cumbersome, especially as you begin to add hundreds or thousands of video files to the system. It is a manageable problem through the use of the keyword tagging system and the creation of custom folders. We run our entire daily live broadcast through BC, along with our OTT platform for our VOD content. I love the UI of the admin site - it feels like true broadcasting software versus a web-based platform.

The only downside of Brightcove is that the system is robust. Understanding the entire software (like how episodes/seasons/series are set up) was the most challenging part of Brightcove. Brightcove has an intuitive user interface that allows you to easily upload and manage your video content. There are many online resources and documentation to help complete more complex tasks such as integrating your ad server or creating a video playlist. Brightcove's upload and transcoding speed is also very fast and efficient. Brightcove has a great customer support team who are quick to respond and assist with any issues you are encountering. The biggest downside with using Brightcove is the performance of the Brightcove Drupal module that enables you to import and manage videos in Drupal. The module really needs to be updated to better support video libraries with a large volume of videos. The main issue with using it is that it can take 3 hours or more for videos to import to Drupal after uploading to Brightcove. This makes it difficult as a news site to quickly embed related videos into our news articles, which in turn impacts our video views and pre-roll inventory. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I've noticed that Brightcove continues to add additional visibility and functionality to the core CMS product that we use every day. From a video cloud hosting perspective, we have a high confidence that Brightcove serves our needs well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Taking a step back, we seem to have felt the pain points of newer acquisitions combined with how we've implemented Brightcove Beacon specifically for our On Demand video experience through our apps. Their customer support is appalling. If anything goes wrong, you are out of luck. Implementation is a complete disaster, we've worked with them on multiple projects on their Beacon platform, and it has gotten progressively worse. We've had multiple contacts at their company quit mid-implementation and have had products simply not launch because their engineering team cannot fix and validate QA issues that arise. They also hold you, hostage during all of this and leverage you in your renewal. Lastly, their API is insanely basic for an enterprise solution and does not support user information.
