I liked that I could highlight pdf's and those were then trasnscibed into notes, Just like Sente used to. This saves time and you can highlight things you want to quote, then later see them and retrieve them in your window. It is like saving marginalia you write in a book. I dislike this:

- rude and terrible customer service - wait - BEYOND rude

- software spontaneously erases EVERYTHING.

I was using the demo version and suddenly the reference library I had built (only about 12 references) was gone. I checked the backup, I tried to rebuild it, did everything I could think of - then contacted them.

Their website says "demo version has not time out) - which seems suspicious to me. Why would they write that? I suspect there is one, a glitch. Time out meaning the demo runs out and then just tanks.

They asked me if I had opened the wrong library (hello - you are speaking to a PhD writer intelligent person not a 5 year old!).

When I wrote back no and in brackets (I can;'t believe I was asked that). they wrote back "Idid". So rude.

I suspect there is some kind of timeout on the software demo version. Buyer beware.

I have now lost all the notes and highlights. Even if it was not their fault, I bekieve the way it was handled was inappropriate in terms of communication style.

The pdf's I had attached are also not marked of course all notes gone.

This is good software - but I suspect it is run by a young kid, will go under soon like Sente and others have. Whoever they are or whoever they have hired is probably a coder, with no human communication or customer service skills whatsoever, they never even said "I am sorry this happened" etc etc.

Before you trust your academic work into this company, think again. Like so many start ups - who knows if it will still be around in 10 years and then where will your notes be? Or like in my case, you might use it and it will erase everything after just a few months.

I am using a new macbook pro 2019, all updated and word.

Just read about Sente and mellel. Great stuff - now it shut down with no support.

I am a professor and researcher and very sad that I need to nwo hunt again for software that works like Sente. I have access to free reference software at my university but it does not have these features.

Go get some customer service training Bookends! Or your business will not last too long. Also be open to bugs and be honest. Foe example you could look to see if there is a timeout If yes, apologise and offer a free license. The customer is king. And you are not dealing with kids, we would never contact you if we had not intelligently tried all other options first.

I have been please with software. It was easy to use in the classroom and students could easily access Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
