I honestly don't have a lot of negatives about BlueGrid other than normal downsides you would have with any contracting agency. EU/Serbian employment law has a few more holidays than we do. BlueGrid is very diligent in setting up a feedback loop about employee performance. There are consistent meetings to go over any issues, and once something is identified, it is addressed, with appropriate follow-up. They don't drop issues or brush them under the rug. BlueGrid is based in Serbia, and employees work on Serbian time, while we are based in California time. For some activities, this lack of time overlap makes scheduling meetings challenging, while for some others, the ability to work uninterrupted delivers more value. As a manager, you have to be very good at distinguishing the two cases, and optimizing for them. If your needs can't be asynchronous, you must be very efficient for when there's time overlap between you and your contractors as that time is very valuable due to its scarcity.
