Top Rated Blocksi Alternatives

Customer service has been great to work with and very responsive. There are constantly new features being added and our teachers love classroom management module. The student safety system is amazing! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are some quirky things about rules with block/deny/exceptions. For example, *.domain.com will unblock or block all subdomains, but sometimes the main domain is unaffected. A second rule will need to be added for only "domain.com". There is also some things that could be streamlined. I feel some of the ways to go about pulling reports and viewing student analytics are a bit clunky and could be more user-friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

After using a number of other filtering systems over the past 25 years, we dropped our most recent filtering partner and selected Blocksi. Here's what we like, based on our experiences of the past 3 months.
1) Blocksi updates fast. Once you get the Blocksi Chromebooks extensions rolled out, you can make a change in a filtering profile, and students see the effect within a few seconds.
2) The Blocksi dashboard is very informative, showing blocked versus filtering sites, most blocked students, videos, etc.
3) Blocksi's student safety feature is nice. It in the few months we have had it, it has alerted us to several situations where students were feeling depressed and possibly considering self-hard.
4) Blocksi for Teachers has some great features that may lead us to replace our current student monitoring system for teachers.
5) Company has been very proactive in reaching out to us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
1) Blocksi for Teacher appears to have some bugs related to screen sharing and importing lists of blocked or allowed URLs.
2) Individual student reporting could use more detail, such as a list of visited URLS by date and time.
3) Policies applied to a parent OU in Google are not automatically inherited by child OUs. You can set them to inherit, but we had to do this individually by child OU. I'm not certain if there is a setting somewhere that would make policies inherit by default. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Blocksi is a beneficial and intuitive platform that has provided multiple features for users here at our schools since day one of implementation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If you have not used a content filtering platform like this before there is a learning curve, but the technical support is very helpful and knowledgeable about getting the answers and solutions you need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The first 2 years were great. We were given the teacher dashboard and admin dashboard. I could set up global things for everyone and do general blocking and help for the teachers.
Apparently we were not paying for the admin dashboard even though we got it for the 1st two years of our 3 year contract. At the start of the 3rd year they killed the admin dashboard and told us that we would have to pay $9200 to have it back.
Needless to say we will not be gong back after our contract is up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If students create a link to the teacher chat they can open that window which will send an alert when a teaccher starts to view their screen. Students can then close their browser and the teacher is unable to see what they are really doing.
Really turns in to a classroom management thing but frustrating none the less. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Customer Support with blocksi is amazing! They are easy to chat with and often get back to me quickly. Blocksi was easy to implement into the classroom and is used almost everyday in all the classrooms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
At times it is difficult to know why something is not working without using costumer support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The system monitors nearly every aspect of the keystrokes, sites, and even a student's scary or negative intentions. Further, we do not have to search for these issues; Blocksi sends us notifications. Nearly unlimited number of features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is a little bit cumbersome inputting certain data points. If we have not completed a given task for a month or so, it is easy to forget where to go to make needed changes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Originally we purchased Blocksi to address our concurrent and hybrid learning environments during the pandemic. Now our staff utilized it daily to ensure students are on task. The time needed to complete online components of projects has decreased as students are more focused on the work. Features like lockign down students' screens and focring links have been helpful. Have not explored it too much on my part but parents do have a little difficulty with the parent portal and setting up their restrictions at home. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Keeping kids safe online and on task while at school. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It cannot automatically run. It would be nice to be able to set it up on timers or something. Maybe that is an option and I don't know it. I would also like the ability to set up a specific list of sites allowed to specific students to help them stay on task. Like individualized block and allow lists for each student. Ease of administration/use and Blocksi customer service are what I like best about Blocksi. Features keep getting added at no additional cost and the system is always being improved. Blocksi listens when you have problems and make suggestions for improvement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I can't seem to get the windows client to run properly/behave. Slows the entire computer to a crawl. I don't think this is a Blocksi issue but I can't seem to find the cause. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the overall interface and how easy it is to navigate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I dislike that as an admin the dashboard is not live data. Many times it's not until the next day that I can see sites that students have tried to access. Yes, I can manually look them up but that is timely for the amount of students in the district. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Blocksi enables us to filter our devices that go home with students. It also gives us greater clarity on what sites the students visit and allows teachers to view student screens and make in-class filtering decisions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One of the primary bugs I have seen is that sometimes when syncing with our Google Admin Console, the program will not automatically assign licenses to new members of an organizational unit (even though there are enough licenses to assign new ones enrollees).
