"Blackthorn makes our gem shows so easy to handle"
4/5
What do you like best about Blackthorn Events?

I love that this works right inside our Salesforce system without needing extra apps. When we host a private showcase for Hit and Fit Gems, all the guest sign-ups and ticket payments go straight into our database. We even use the text messaging feature to send our buyers a quick reminder the day before the event. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blackthorn Events?

Even though they say "no tricky integrations," getting the event registration page to match our exact brand colors took some trial and error. Also, setting up the automated text messages can be a little confusing at first if you aren't super familiar with how Salesforce rules work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Okenna Oruche of Blackthorn Events

Guest sign-ups, ticket payments, and day-before text reminders all running inside Salesforce without extra apps is a clean setup for private showcases, Sourabh.

The brand color customization taking trial and error and the automated text message configuration being confusing upfront are both fair callouts. We're actively working on the brand customization. Would you be open to providing more context on your experience with automated text messages?

"Streamlines Event Management with Salesforce Integration"
5/5
What do you like best about Blackthorn Events?

I really like the visibility groups feature in Blackthorn Events. It's a massive win for us because it allows us to show different ticket types or event sessions to specific groups of people. For example, we can display an exclusive VIP executive dinner session only to our top-tier clients while keeping it hidden from the general public. This level of personalization makes our events feel much more tailored and exclusive without having to create multiple separate registration pages. Also, the new intelligence layer has been great for handling quick tasks like ticket transfers through a simple chat-style command instead of clicking through numerous Salesforce screens, which is a huge time saver. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blackthorn Events?

My biggest gripe has always been the lack of a truly robust native drag and drop email builder. While they have basic transactional emails, we still find ourselves needing to jump into Marketing Cloud or Pardot to get the high-end branded outreach we want. I've heard they're working on improving this in the new web-based planet interface, but for now, the email styling inside Salesforce still feels a bit behind the times. Also, the initial setup can be quite daunting. If you aren't comfortable with Salesforce permission sets and page layouts, you're going to have a hard time getting this off the ground without a consultant. The setup was a heavy lift, to be honest. You can't just turn it on and expect it to work with your specific Salesforce configuration. Had to spend a few weeks in a sandbox environment mapping our customer fields and testing the automation flows for our wait lists. Their support documentation is very thorough. But it definitely requires a Salesforce admin who knows what they're doing. It's not plug and play. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Okenna Oruche of Blackthorn Events

Setup complexity for teams without a strong Salesforce admin is a real barrier, and the native email builder still having gaps that push you into Marketing Cloud or Pardot is fair criticism. Our development team is aware of these issues and working to implement some meaningful improvements.

Visibility groups for VIP-only sessions and ticket transfers through a simple chat command instead of clicking through Salesforce screens are exactly the kind of time savers that make the setup investment worth it, Vito.

"Great Event Management with Salesforce Integration Challenges"
3/5
What do you like best about Blackthorn Events?

I find Blackthorn Events very useful for hosting both paid fundraisers and unpaid community education or legal events. It allows me to keep all of our attendee information in one place within Salesforce, which makes tracking deliverables much easier. I really like the ease of setting up events. I value the ability to store custom form information, set limits on event attendance, and create multiple types of event tickets. The setup process was quite easy, and I found the lots of documentation and the implementation team to be great. The documentation page was infinitely helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blackthorn Events?

Salesforce is very obtuse in many ways, and some of what Blackthorn Events does is dictated by the limits of Salesforce it seems. It is quite expensive and we use it on somewhat of a small scale. The set-up road map they have created I found a bit useless. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Okenna Oruche of Blackthorn Events

Running paid fundraisers and community events with custom forms, attendance limits, and multiple ticket types all tracked in one place is a solid setup, Jack. Glad the documentation and implementation team made that process smooth.

The pricing relative to smaller scale usage and the setup roadmap not landing as useful are both worth hearing. If you have specific thoughts on where the roadmap fell short, we'd welcome the feedback.

"Salesforce Integration That Brings All Member and Event Activity Together"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Blackthorn Events?

For our organization, the integration with Salesforce makes all the difference. It allows us to see an individual's activity with coming to events and compare that to membership and other activities within our organization -- all in one place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blackthorn Events?

We haven't seen one. Anytime there is a feature that we want, we reach out to the support team and we can find what we need. It's that ease of use and ease of implementation that set this product apart. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Okenna Oruche of Blackthorn Events

Nearly 100 events a year with full visibility into how each member engages across events, membership, and other activities all in one place is exactly what Blackthorn is built for, Garrett. Glad it's delivering.

"Best events platform on the market"
5/5
What do you like best about Blackthorn Events?

The platform was extemelly easy to implement out of the box. While our Salesforce has a unique implementation that really pushed the limits of what the integration was capabale pf, the Blackthorn support team were with us every step of the way to deliver a perfect solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blackthorn Events?

After our implementation, the support team were a hit and miss with answerings our support requests to a satisfactory standard. Thankfully, I am able to report that this has improved signifcantly in the last few months with a crackdown by their CEO. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Katie Campbell of Blackthorn Events

Wow! Thanks for the great review, Nathan. I'm glad to hear that the Events app has been easy to implement and has met the needs of your organization. I'll pass on your encouraging report to the customer success team. If you have ideas on how we can continue to improve our app, I'm all ears! (katie.campbell@blackthorn.io, Director of Product)

"Seamless Salesforce Integration, Needs Improved Onboarding"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Blackthorn Events?

I like Blackthorn Events because it integrates seamlessly with Salesforce, allowing me to synchronize planned and unplanned events effortlessly. It automates event communication, manages registrations, and provides real-time performance insights. The end-to-end visibility of campaigns helps us understand which events drive the most engagement and revenue. The Salesforce integration is especially helpful for managing my data, planning events like video conferences and other meetings, and managing customer data effectively. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blackthorn Events?

I would like to see improvement in its learning curve associated based system, as it is very difficult for new users to navigate and learn about the platform, so I would like to see improvement in the more smooth training modules. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Okenna Oruche of Blackthorn Events

End-to-end campaign visibility tied directly to engagement and revenue at the enterprise scale is exactly what this integration should deliver, Amit. Glad it's been working that way.

The onboarding and navigation experience for new users is something we're addressing.

"Comprehensive Salesforce Event Management with Seamless Registration and Check-In"
5/5
What do you like best about Blackthorn Events?

Comprehensive event management solution right within our Salesforce environment; exceptional at event registration and check-in, which were large challenges for us with previous event 'solutions.' Blackthorn actually is a solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blackthorn Events?

For non-Salesforce users, the traditional Blackthorn event planner looks imperious, so it sometimes takes time to get past that initial look of fear. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Okenna Oruche of Blackthorn Events

"Blackthorn actually is a solution" — that's the kind of thing that's genuinely good to hear, especially coming from a team that's dealt with alternatives that fell short on registration and check-in.

The point about non-Salesforce users is well taken. That initial complexity can be a real barrier for folks who aren't already comfortable in the ecosystem, and it's something we're actively working on.

"Blackthorn events Keeps our event timelines on track"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Blackthorn Events?

The best part is having all our event data tied directly into our main system. I never have to chase down different departments or cross-check spreadsheets just to see where our registration numbers are at. It makes tracking timelines, managing tasks, and reporting to stakeholders incredibly easy because everything is centralized. Triggering automated workflows the second someone buys a ticket saves us a massive amount of manual admin work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blackthorn Events?

The standard templates for the registration pages are pretty rigid, otherwise it is best in my opinion. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Okenna Oruche of Blackthorn Events

No more chasing departments or cross-checking spreadsheets to get a registration update is a real operational win, Kratika. Glad the centralization and automated workflows are delivering that.

Registration page template flexibility is something we're actively working on.

"Easy Salesforce Integration and Simple to Manage"
4/5
What do you like best about Blackthorn Events?

I like how easily it integrates with Salesforce. Also, the learning curve wasn't too terrible, and now that we know the software, it is easy to manage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blackthorn Events?

I dislike that there is no way to only do donations on the registration page. We use it as a leg of the fundraising for the university, so it would be nice to have that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Okenna Oruche of Blackthorn Events

A donation-only registration option would be a meaningful addition for university fundraising, Lizzy. We want to make sure it's captured properly. If you're open to sharing more about how you're currently working around it, we'd love to hear.

Glad the Salesforce integration and day-to-day management have been working well.

"Efficient Event Management with Limited Customization"
3/5
What do you like best about Blackthorn Events?

I use Blackthorn Events to host CE seminars for dentists and specialists, and I really like how it lets attendees register for our events effortlessly. It's nice that Blackthorn comes with pre-made templates, saving us time and effort compared to our previous custom-built software. I like being able to create different types of tickets for different attendees, and I appreciate the feature that allows me to add promo codes to discount events. Additionally, the setup was pretty easy since we were switching from a custom system where everything was made from scratch. Blackthorn also integrates well with Salesforce, which is important for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blackthorn Events?

I don't like how the look of the registration site can't be changed. I want to be able to change the design, colors, and add images. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Okenna Oruche of Blackthorn Events

Pre-made templates, promo codes, and ticket types out of the box is a meaningful upgrade from custom-built software. Glad the switch went smoothly, Allison.

The registration page design flexibility is a known gap and something we're actively working on. More control over colors, layout, and imagery is very much part of where we're headed. If you have specific ideas on what you'd want to see, we'd love to hear them.
