BlackLine has created automation of our reconciliation process, where we were using just excel before. We have been able to use the subledger import option to automate accounts that use a subledger system. We also use the matching module, which has been a game changer for some accounts. Not only can the matching module automate a time consuming, no value added, manual process, but it also creates a better product in the end. We have had one match set save our team 29+ hours per month and others that save only 2-3 hours but have created better insight into the unmatched items and helped to clean up the reconciliations. We were able to take the unmatched items and automate them through in-transit to the reconciliations to clean up the recons. The match sets have also created controls, where there weren't many in the past. You need to get the whole team on board with using the product and using it correctly. The reconciliations can provide a whole lot of useful information, if BlackLine is used correctly. If the team is reconciling in excel and then just uploading it, then it won't provide the insights available, like the class of items in the recon. Also, the matching module has a limit to the number of lines that can be imported for matching, based on the contract. OneStream does not have a limit on this.
