What do you like best about Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT?

Most of the input screens and reports are intuitive and easy to find, and the reporting is pretty robust overall. I also like that I can click on a transaction in a report and it takes me directly to it in FE.

What do you dislike about Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT?

There’s a slight lag when entering data, especially amounts, and it slows me down when I’m entering invoices. I understand they’re working on a feature to scan the invoice, which should take care of some of that work for me. Overall, it’s a minor issue. I’d also like the ability to add lines in the distribution for invoices (insert in a specific order) so that, when I copy, the account numbers stay in the order I usually enter them. "Time-Saving Invoice Processing with Handy Attachments in FE NXT"

What do you like best about Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT?

We really started using FE NXT during COVID, and the ability to attach the invoice, credit memo or receipt was especially important since I didn’t have my office filing cabinet at home. What do you dislike about Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT?

Database view listed the vendors I’d used most recently (and usually most often), so I could get to them quickly. That feature doesn’t exist in NXT, which means extra clicks and more searching just to find or re-open a vendor. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Since it is a very powerful software package, learning and remembering all of the functionality can be difficult as can configuration. We jokingly say around here that the problem was beacuse one checkbox wasn't checked in configuration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT solving and how is that benefiting you?

Tuition Billing is tied in seamlessly with the accounting system. This reduces the amount of time we have to spend setting up billing for all of our students. Accounts payable is also becoming more seemless and I am looking forward to the new AI integration with AP Invoices that should reduce time in entering data. "Seamless Raiser's Edge NXT Integration and Easy Adoption with Financial Edge NXT"

What do you like best about Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT?

Our business office started using Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT two years ago and now I am finally able to link my processes in Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT with them. In the past, we used a different software system for accounting and our CRM did not "talk" directly to it, making reporting and reconciling difficult at times. What do you like best about Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT?

I like the deep relational database, the endless configurations, and the kind support team. The relational database makes it possible to see all of the connections and potential touchpoints with our donors. The configurations accommodate any number of appeals and campaigns based on the dreams and wishes of the development team. The support team are friends and reliable. What do you dislike about Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT?

Completely dislike two things. (maybe three) First is the Approve/Validate/Post process for journal entries. After you do the entry, it's two more clicks to get the entry to post. Next is the option to 'allow journal entries without updating the cash account' which is strange (if I update cash, update the register at the same time); but I don't understand the concept of reconciling 'register' to 'cash account'. The Raiser's Edge to Financial Edge connection is beyond helpful! Much stronger internal control, the check is entered once and flows thru both systems. Before Blackbaud, we were entering the check twice; once in Donor Perfect, and once in QuickBooks. Now the check comes thru Development, and automatically updates Financial Edge. I like that Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT is web-based, so I can access it from anywhere. The help tool is very resourceful and great for finding more information. It's very user-friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT?

The web-based aspect is sometimes slow and unable to access. Once a transaction is posted, you cannot delete it but must reverse the transaction. Reporting is a great tool, but having to create multiple reports from the implementation stage takes time. Implementation was difficult and even after several years, there are still issues or corrections being found. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

However, we are sorry to hear about the challenges you've encountered. A member of our Customer Success team will reach out to learn more about these issues in an effort to identify the root cause and provide the necessary resources to assist.

On the inability to delete a transaction, that is intentional in order to preserve an audit trail. If your organization requires additional validation before posting, you can validate a batch/posting before it's permanently posted. And of course, there's no limit on reversals if something does make it all the way to posting—the audit trail will just reflect that so your auditors have that record.
