What problems is Computer Software solving and how is that benefiting you?
Alright so there's this construction project that will produce a lot of noise. Surrounding residents are against the project, because it'll be too noisy. There are standards for how much noise the municipality can allow in these neighborhoods, whether from construction or other sources. That project got approval under the condition that it doesn't make too much noise--under some limit. Now, this was a transportation related thing, and people would be traveling around during the day, so construction had to happen at night. And the prospects of hiring someone to monitor the noise all night every night throughout the project, to be vigilant about this darned little number on a sensor, that was an unappealing prospect. We were able to use Computer Software (trumpets play) with an off-the-shelf computer to do that monitoring and, get this, automatically notify people if the construction started getting too loud. I tell you what, we did not have to build our own machine to figure out all the rules about how loud things can be at what hour of the day. It was all encoded in digital rules in the software. We literally saved ourselves from having to do this unpeasant job, because Computer Software could do it automatically. And correctly. And tirelessly. And attentively. Rad, to say the least.
