**What do you like best about BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)?**

Virtual card platform that allows us to use a credit card to pay our bills. It's amazing how employees can have different budgets and permissions. It allows us to stay on top of their spending and review and approve all their expenses. I also really like how we can order physical cards for them too.

**What do you dislike about BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)?**

We used other platforms that gave us even more control of employees spending. For example other platforms have rules that it will automatically block employees accounts after not submitting receipts. Also, although Divvy does allow us to choose categories for allowed expenses, we found that this blocked some major retailers like Amazon (who sells such a variety of things) and we had to remove that control

**What problems is BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Yes! It allowed us to give employee cards. It also made it very easy to have lines of credits for our different companies.

I like that BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy) makes it very easy to do and produce my expense reports. I appreciate the fact that I'm able to upload receipts with ease, which streamlines the process when I'm handling expenses.

**What do you dislike about BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)?**

Sometimes the matching of the receipts or when you can email your receipts in, they never match. I use the email receipt feature all the time, and it always sends it back saying that it cannot locate the item. But then when I go in there, I am able to match it up.

BILL Spend & Expense makes it easy for me to produce my expense reports and upload receipts effortlessly, streamlining my expense management.

The onboarding process was light and quick with a very responsive team from sales to onboarding. The simplicity with ease of use on the website was a draw for us with a phone application that provides real-time pings to users for data collection at the point of card use is nice. There are ERP ana accounting system integrations but those are limited in availability. The card works well with options to build and restrict budgets to categories choosen.

**What do you dislike about BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)?**

Unfortunately the simplicity was the downside for us. We need to track our expenses in projects with phases, phases with tasks. BILL is unable to integrate with our systems and lacks dependencies meaning we can't like the projects with its respective phases. Also, the budgeting and limitations that can be placed on cards seemed oversold for what was reasonably possible. The categories and groupings couldn't overlap so we would need to create multiple budgets and assign those to each user. Then the user is required to choose the correct budget each time PRIOR to making a purchase, which is a stretch to ask of non-accounting folk users. Lastly, after the onboarding, support has been poor. We have asked to close our account and given promises with no results since.

The hope was ease of capturing spend data at the time of card swipe by pinging employees to complete and upload the receipt while the event is fresh. This would help code the transaction to the correct project and expense type to reduce the need to nag for reconciliation on the back end while giving us more up-to-date transaction data in our ERP system.

I find BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy) very user-friendly, which makes it easy to navigate. It has made my expense reporting much easier, especially with the ability to upload receipts and categorize expenses at the moment of purchase. As an admin, I appreciate the ability to see all transactions of other cardholders. The app is very easy to set up and allows me to assign budgets, request new cards, and block cards easily. Everything feels easy and smooth.

Maybe having clear instructions of how things work between the app and the web page. I tried updating the bank account used to pay the card on the web page, but it turns out the change had to be completed in the app. I only figured that out after spending some time trying to finish the update.

The mobile interface is also relatively intuitive for quick receipt uploads

the implementation and onboarding process were notably disjointed. For a tool that is supposed to streamline operations, the setup felt fragmented and lacked a cohesive 'white-glove' experience. I found the transition between the credit approval phase and the actual platform utility to be fumbled, leading to significant delays in getting the system fully operational. Operationally, it feels like several different tools stitched together rather than one fluid ecosystem

I think Bill is intended to solve the problem of manual expense reporting and out-of-policy spending. While the virtual card system provides some benefit in terms of security and budget tracking, the initial operational friction during the setup phase significantly diminished the expected ROI and slowed down our financial workflows

I really like the integration of BILL Spend & Expense with a payment card because it handles our travel reimbursements and occasional expenses like Internet and subscriptions. The system is pretty good for international payments too, which works well for us when dealing with German contractors. It saves us the hassle and cost of wire transfers through banks by offering a flat 1% fee for payments in almost any currency. The cards for all employees are nice, keeping everything segregated, and our accountant is happy with the consolidated reports. The audit process was smooth, and the system was effective in confirming expenses. The workflow and approval structure work pretty well for our small team, keeping things compliant. The initial setup was extremely straightforward, and the ability to start using basic functionality for free is nice. I also appreciate that we can transition each vendor into the workflow without doing it all at once. The onboarding is very straightforward and as close to instant as possible.

So it doesn't integrate quite as well with our bank. It'd be nice if they could pull the balances for the bank accounts more automatically. We get a larger bill, like $12,000 for a repair, we have to check that we won't create a crisis in the account we're pulling the funds from. There are other systems that are more integrated with banks, which is a minor weak point for Divvy.

I have used BILL Spend & Expense to receive payments from a vendor, and I try to use digital or electronic payments instead of checks. We can receive payments quickly and not have to wait for a check in the mail, which is really convenient. Even though I haven't used the feature yet, the ability to get an instant payment on an invoice or to finance an invoice upfront seems like it would help with cash flow, especially when cash is tight. For a small business like ours, having the option to finance an invoice is really valuable. Also, setting up BILL Spend & Expense was easy and didn't take long.

I love that with BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy) I can verify expenses using just an image, whether it's a photograph or a file. Additionally, the ease of choosing specific categories for expenses, defined by the company, greatly simplifies the operation. I also appreciate that an image can be uploaded for expense verification, which enhances the experience by not having to deal with physical receipts.

Communication between applications does not seem to be very effective, as sometimes the application does not easily find the expense. Additionally, the photos taken by the application cannot be cropped, which forces me to take the photo with the photo app and then export it.

Solve the problem of keeping physical receipts by allowing checks with images. Simplify managing expenses by having specific categories, and I like the option to verify expenses by just uploading an image.

I like that employees are able to enter class, account, and vendor information. I also like that Bill Spend and Expense is able to sync with Quickbooks. I Usually enter most of the data into our company's Quickbooks system so this helps me out a lot.

Sometimes transactions will not sync. I notice that is it always specifically three employees whose transactions will not sync. Also, since some employees already has a bill.com account, signing up for Bill Spend and Expense was a bit tricky because they experienced many hiccups.

Bill Spend and Expense is benefiting me because I do not have to enter as much data in Quickbooks as I did before. Before we had Bill Spend & Expense. I had to enter in every transaction, class, account, and vendor manually. Bill syncing with Quickbooks in this way allows me more time to analyze expenses rather than just entering them.

I like how easy it is to monitor spending and set limits with BILL Spend & Expense. It's very easy to quickly adjust a limit if someone has a larger purchase. I appreciate how easy it is to seamlessly see what many people are doing at once. It's a great site to use and incredibly easy to use. Their customer service has been really helpful when I've had questions.I also really appreciate how easily it integrates with QuickBooks Online, which we use for accounting. It works great.

I found it really unfamiliar when I had to use BILL Spend & Expense for invoice payments instead of the credit card management I'm used to. It ended up taking us about two extra weeks to collect money on a large invoice, which was frustrating. Typically, we'd expect a quicker process, like a direct deposit, but using this service seemed to complicate things and delay the payment.

I don't have to track down receipts anymore. Each user is notified to add a receipt, and I can send batch reminders. Everything is seamlessly integrated, eliminating manual errors and saving time compared to the old process.

I like the credit card rewards, which include purchasing rewards and cashback from spending. I also appreciate being able to set up budgets for individuals, which helps track expenses per budget or department and assists with accounting. It's very useful to upload receipts and invoices, as having a documented place for these is great for audits and internal tracking. The ability to easily control who has a card, manage their budgets, and swiftly handle situations like card loss by zeroing out budgets or ordering new cards is very convenient.

I find the integration between BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy) and our accounting system to be not seamless. It takes some extra steps, going through Excel, and feels like more manual work than it should be. I like the intuitiveness of BILL Spend & Expense, and the great customer service from the team. The great budgeting practices and best practices offered are really helpful, and it's just really easy to use. The system is easy to use with very little training required for new team members, which has improved the time it takes to do expense reports. The integration of using cards with the expense platform keeps everything in one place, making it very convenient. Initial setup was really easy for me, and I’d give it a nine out of 10.

Allocating large expenses to two separate billing departments or budgets is a little difficult right now.

We love how easy it is to set up and sync with QuickBooks. It also gives us a great way to control spending by creating budgets, using virtual cards, and accessing a ton of other helpful features. Tech support has been great, and they really come in clutch when we’re trying to figure things out.  It is easy to add new users and remove old users.  Implementing the card was easy peasy.  We use the card everyday and benefit from the rewards pretty quickly.

Our biggest issue was when we first started using BILL.  It took a bit of work to get a credit increase, but now that we understand the process, it is a little easier.

I can monitor spending on our credit cards with little to no effort.  I know that we can pull reports, get receipts, and get it synced in no time.  My accountant loves that I handle most of our G/L labeling for each transaction. Keeps my bookkeeping costs down.

I like most of the tracking of our bills being paid and the reports that are given for me to easily then put it into our system for balancing. I also like that I can pull up specific payment dates for filtering, and the report shows the company that was paid and the amounts as well. Being able to filter for specific categories in these reports is most helpful because it allows me to easily determine in that payment cycle how much was spent in certain categories.

The customer service is not good. It feels disjointed, like dealing with a third party to another third party company. They often act like they don't know which part of their app we use, though they have my information. They can't answer questions about specific check numbers or payments to vendors without stopping communication to contact someone else, which takes a day and results in more questions that should already be known. It's infuriating. Additionally, having to void a check takes too long because of back and forth communication, making it feel like they don't know what's going on internally. The initial setup was time-consuming and very manual due to our ERP software not being compatible with BILL Spend & Expense.

BILL Spend & Expense saves time by eliminating the need to cut and mail checks, and it streamlines tracking of employees' debit card use, making expense management more efficient.

The interface is very easy to use, not just for the end users (card holders) but especially for me as an administrator.  I can easily see everyone's receipts, make sure things are categorized correctly, make sure that all the required data has been entered, reports are easy to run and edit because they are downloadable in excel.  Everything about it works great for me.

**What do you dislike about BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)?**

One small request would be the ability to add additional information to the card transactions, i.e. project number.  We send the spending to the projects and it would help a lot if we could have a customizable field that would let us make that connection that would automate the allocation function.  But there are enough tools to work with that I've got it down to a very manageable amount of work, even though it's not quite "automated".

We had a very hard time collecting receipts before because they needed to be mailed into the office and that just wasn't happening.  Now that they can simply be uploaded right at the point of sale, we're getting much better adherence to the policies.

I Like the concept, the ease of use, the time saving capabilities. I love how easy it was to onboard and that it can sync with our payroll software to continously add in new hires. I love how it works with netsuite so seamlessly.

My downside is more about the onbboarding experience and not the Spend and expense side but the setup of everythign to sync over to my system. I need to do a call to get our sync and setup correct. I do not like the budget setup process its confusing and I just want to allow my employees to have a card with spend so this part is a bit time consuming.

I find the capability to just capture a photo and upload it really easy to use. The upload tool is great compared to the old-school way of having to track down receipts from employees. The initial setup was very straightforward for getting all of our jobs and cost codes implemented.

I use BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy) for all of our employee credit card spends like parts, fuel, meals, client gifts, etc. What I really like is that it has given everyone in different departments visibility and automation, allowing us to collaborate effectively. It's easy to use and has decreased the amount of time it takes to reconcile the credit cards and close the books each month. The initial setup was very easy as well.

In the transactions tab, it would be very nice if the search box also allowed us to search for anything entered into the notes field instead of just name or merchant. I would love it if I could search the notes field for particular work orders or specific notes.

I find the company cards tied to the app very convenient and easy to use. It's really easy to change limits on them through the app. From a management perspective, every step of the process is super easy, even for someone with no background in that area. It was also really easy to manage everything through the BILL app and I got the necessary notifications. Additionally, reconciling expenses from sales trips and tracking mileage for sales reps were made a lot easier. It's great for leadership as it was easy to manage all that and fit our operational model perfectly.

I find BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy) very efficient with immediate card creation and visibility over every transaction in great detail. The easy-to-follow user interface makes it simple for new users to jump in. I appreciate the long card life of 7 years before expiring, which minimizes payment method turnover. The credit limit being 150% of previous traditional credit cards is a notable benefit. The support is responsive and helpful. The platform makes job and task coding fast, and the receipt upload process is fast and convenient. I like the total individual accountability of users and having total control over limits and budgets. The push notification reminders and the much faster, almost immediate completion of statements ready for accounting are great features.

**What do you dislike about BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)?**

Adding task codes is unnecessarily deep within the settings, and as an admin, I should be able to add them on the fly for coding transactions with the option to make the new code available to all users from that same screen. I still have to download the CSV of transaction history and sort by job and code to get the report I want each month for accounting. I should be able to customize the output of my transactions or statement tab and also sort and organize by jobs and codes from the website itself.

I think it would be better if they simplified the process or had tutorial videos directly on the platform instead of having to look up on YouTube to learn how to navigate these features. The biggest benefit is that it’s a free platform. When I was researching credit card platforms for my organization, Divvy was one of the only no-cost options available. That alone gave our management the confidence to choose it over other platforms that charge per user.

I also appreciate how straightforward Divvy makes transaction review and approval. Adding new users is simple, and training usually takes only 15–20 minutes. During onboarding, it was especially helpful that we could work with Divvy to implement custom fields that fit our needs. Having those fields sync directly to our accounting software was truly a game changer and SIGNIFICANTLY reduced our credit card reconciliation time.

The Divvy app has made a big difference for us as well. Many of our cardholders are surveyors who may travel across the country and mostly have travel-related expenses. The app lets them upload receipts in real time, which has helped cut down on missing receipts.

**What do you dislike about BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)?**

Creating users is super easy, but I find budget creation and management difficult. Applying funds to new users or adjusting funds for existing cardholders can be glitchy at times, and it honestly doesn’t always let me make the changes I’m trying to make.

On top of that, the rebranding has been difficult for my organization. We use Bill Payables & Receivables for our invoicing and for our contractor payments, and the Divvy integration has caused severe login errors for several of our users who have both a Divvy card and a Receivables account. This is something I’ve referenced in past help center cases.

It’s also become much more confusing for people to clarify which Bill platform they’re referring to. It’s a lot to say Bill Payables & Receivables and Bill Spend & Expense, and it creates unnecessary confusion in conversations. We still just call them Bill.com and Divvy, and we’ll likely never change that.

We used to reconcile credit cards by downloading each user’s monthly transactions one by one, filtering them into an Excel template, and then sending them to cardholders to fill out manually. Having a platform that centralizes this entire process has been one of the most impactful improvements to my workflow. It also enables cardholders to proactively manage and review their own spending, which gives everyone clearer budget visibility. Many of our cardholders primarily use their cards for travel costs, and Divvy has allowed them to spend less time on administrative tasks.

I like the flexibility to give any employee a card if they need one. I can then turn it off until they need it again and not worry they will 'accidentally' use it for personal expenses. The virtual card feature is really nice; you can create a card for a company that requires one, and then cancel that card immediately. I also appreciate that once coded, receipts and expenses upload automatically to QuickBooks Online and don't require any further work on my end. The ability to easily order both physical and virtual cards online by entering a name simplifies the whole process.

It would be nice if the administration of the QBO integration was a little easier. I'd say the initial setup was challenging.

Also, I don't really like how the default works; it defaults to every transaction. It would be great if setting up a default applied only to specific transactions.

I just really like the user friendliness; it's really easy to use. It's nice to assign budgets, restrict transactions, and monitor spending on a live basis. I also appreciate being able to strike down transactions and require approvals. The integration with our software, Sage Intact, was a seamless process and super easy to use. The team made setting up BILL Spend & Expense super easy, and they were there to answer questions and assist with our transition. The implementer was great to work with, which made everything really easy. The platform's capabilities are much more broad compared to bank credit cards, which is why we transitioned a few people over to BILL Spend & Expense.

The desktop site could use some work. It doesn't like to scroll correctly, as you are scrolling through transactions it will just stop and you have to scroll up then scroll back down.  Or it will scroll in an endless scroll, meaning it just keeps showing you the same transactions.  Also, when I am "reviewing" the transactions instead of smoothly moving to next transaction (from pop up window on right of screen) it will just show $0.00 transaction. I will then have to go back to transaction list and scroll back down to where I left off.

some of our cancelled cards still have charges trying to come through. we've had to replace physical cards due to our cards being compromised.

I very much prefer, and still use, the name Divvy. The name BILL Spend & Expense is way too long. I have one client with BILL.com for payments and Divvy with a LOC, in which the transactions overlap in a way that makes the Divvy statements incorrect (showing AP Payments). I have to modify the statements in order to properly reconcile the account. It's very odd and took the helpdesk a couple hours to figure out so I could decipher what was going on.

It's super user-friendly and very intuitive to use, making it really simple to set up. I just like that it connects everything together and also connects to our QuickBooks. The reimbursements are so much easier since nobody has to turn in a reimbursement form; they just submit it there, making it much more efficient and saving us time. I love being able to set up budgets on Divvy so that staff can track their expenses, which is also transparent since we can see it in real time rather than waiting for our accountants to send us financial statements.

For us, because we're a small nonprofit organization, sometimes the BILL Spend & Expense setup is a little overengineered. Like, it has just almost too many features, but I can see why from a bigger company, that would be really nice. So maybe there could be two different levels or something that you choose. Like, we just need to create budgets and have people track their spending. We don't necessarily need to have parent budgets or groups or layers, sometimes it's you know, it's not one person can see the whole budget. There's just almost too much, and it took us a little, took us, like, a year to figure it all out.

I find the BILL Spend & Expense app awesome for notifying users immediately when there is a transaction to upload a receipt to. I also appreciate the self-service option for cardholders to request more funds, reorder cards, or create virtual cards. For the accounting department, the visibility of credit card receipts in the platform is great, as it eliminates the need to manage a bunch of emails, allowing them to easily see what is open and what is not. Managers like the review process as well. The app and the pricing for the base function were big factors in switching to BILL Spend & Expense, and the initial setup was pretty easy. I'm very likely, a 10, to recommend it to a friend or colleague.

I would like to be able to send reminder emails on demand like if we're getting close to a close period, the accounting manager sends a manual email out. Tracking or reporting for transactions that the user has clicked receipt missing. and possible shut off of account if non reconciled items reach so many days.

The ability to send reminder messages about incomplete transactions is very helpful, as I can edit the messages or use prefilled ones when needed. I also appreciate that I can restrict users from spending if necessary. The budgeting features are amazing, especially the Groups feature that allows department heads to see all budgets under their group, which is very helpful. The reimbursement process is also a huge time saver.

I like that BILL Spend & Expense has effectively eliminated the cost of Concur and offers a higher rebate than our previous credit card program. It's a win-win. I appreciate how it keeps people current with their submissions because if they don't submit their expenses timely for approval, it freezes their card. This has helped us a lot since we've always struggled with keeping people caught up with their expense reports, which used to be submitted once a month. Now, people are submitting their transactions throughout the month, allowing us to stay much more current with expense recognition. The platform is also very user-friendly, and I've received a lot of positive feedback from users. It's easy for people to quickly submit their expenses, as they can email receipts to automatically attach them. We can set default GL codes and sites, and easily monitor spend by person or vendor. The initial setup was very simple.

I wish setting defaults could be done by vendor rather than by card. I also wish we could give our staff accountant the ability to view the rebates without needing full admin rights. She needs to verify the amounts of the rebates, but that's the one area she can't see with the accountant access she was given.

I like the polished, user-friendly interface in both the browser and the app. We also had a great implementation specialist who helped us get up and running quickly. We have a multigenerational team, and sometimes tech and software adaptation is slow and challenging. We have had zero issues with folks accessing and understanding the BILL Spend & Expense platform, which lifts a huge burden from my shoulders. BILL Spend & Expense eliminates the need for manual reporting, gives quicker access to funds while maintaining security and transparency, and streamlines the reimbursement process for the few cases where that is still needed. We switched from Emburse Spend because it had many bugs, lacked the clean interface of BILL Spend & Expense, and our organization likes BILL's line of credit option more.

I think the approval workflow options could be fleshed out a bit to give greater control of how items get approved. The filters are straightforward to use, making it simple to find what I need. I also like that it detects fraudulent charges, and it was easy for me to set up my account and get a card.

Honestly, what stands out the most is how seamless and organized it makes managing our spending. In the AI space, things move fast — we're juggling software subscriptions, compute costs, travel, and a ton of little expenses across different teams. BILL gives us real-time visibility and control without slowing us down. The virtual cards are super useful for managing team budgets, and the approval workflows help us stay on top of things without micromanaging. It just feels like the tool was built with fast-moving, modern companies in mind.

If I had to point out a downside, it would be that the interface can feel a bit clunky at times — especially when you're trying to categorize or reconcile a bunch of expenses quickly.
