What do you like best about BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)?

Bill Spend & Expense effortlessy integrates with QuickBooks, from transaction defaults to receipt uploads, it has cut expense management by over 50%. It was extremely easy to train our internal staff on all the functions of the software. However, our main use is in the field with our 100+ brand ambassadors, who are now able to execute promotions and submt billable expenses through the app. Our internal team is left only to review, approve and sync them to our accounting system for billing. It has cut receivable turnover by over a week. On top of all this this, our dedicated implementation manager has been a huge help. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)?

I wish Bill Spend & Expense would sync with our product/service book instead of just our chart of accounts. We break down billable expenses into several product categories and this has to be done manually once the transactions are synced to QB. Also, our credit line is a bit more dynamic then I would like it to be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy) solving and how is that benefiting you?

Bill S&E solved our problem with double entry. Our project managers or purchasing department were entering expense data in the crm, only for accounting to then have to manually enter that same information into QuickBooks. It also allows us to issue credit cards to all of our employees in the field. We have complete control over available dollars on the card and where/what categories can be spent on. Along with this control, the brand ambassadors are completing and coding transactions in the field in real time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Jenn J of BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)

Thank you, Alex, for your extraordinary review of BILL Spend & Expense! We are so happy to hear that our software has easily integrated with QuickBooks, helping cut expense management by over 50%, also that it was easy to train your employees to use and that your field team are now able to execute promotions as well as submit billable expenses all through our app. Also that has cut your receivable turnover by a week due to your internal team only having to review/approve/sync everything to your accounting software and that your dedicated implementation manager has assisted when needed.

We are sorry to hear that your credit line has been a bit more dynamic then you wanted it to be. We appreciate your suggestion of our software syncing with your product/service book not just your COA so that you wouldn't have to manually update after the transactions are synced to QB and have passed that on to our team. Please continue to provide your feedback as we value our user's suggestions when planning for the future of our software.

What do you like best about BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)?

Bill simplified the expense process while adding accountability. It empowered the staff by providing each person with a card that requires them to fill out the information, so I just have to review it and make sure every expense is in the right category. No longer do they have to pay out of pocket, which is a benefit they and I love. The app makes it easy for them to be reimbursed for mileage. The vendor card ensures that all systems continue working regardless of staffing. And the points do add up; we're a small operation but still got $800 back in the first year. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)?

Setup and management of budgets, categories and other information on the website can be a little tricky, but the customer service reps know their stuff and are good at walking through any issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy) solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before using Bill, we paid a bookkeeper to manually pay mileage, receive emailed receipts from staff and make sure everything was in the right category. Bill allowed me to reduce the budget by thousands of dollars, give the staff a benefit, simplify our workflow and get money back just for doing what we're going to do anyway. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Jenn J of BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)

Thank you for your five-star review of BILL Spend & Expense! We are delighted that BILL has simplified the expense process while adding accountability by empowering your staff with providing each of them with a card that they need to fill out the information on, making it so that the only thing you have to do is review it and make sure everything categorized properly. Also that the app makes it easy for them to get reimbursed without having to pay out of pocket first and that our reward program is paying off for your company. We also appreciate knowing that when help is needed, our customer service has assisted right away. We appreciate all feedback as we are always trying to improve our customer's experience with our software.

What do you like best about BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)?

Using BILL makes my job 100 time easier! I don't have to keep track of receipts or bug the guys about getting them into me! It integrates well with QuickBooks Online. It is very easy for our employess to use and well as the office staff. I also love that you are able to customize your own fields for budgets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)?

I wish that BILL had a smaller business avenue to get started using it. Once approved it is such a great tool, but if you are a smaller business with not a lot of revenue it is hard to get approved for credit limits. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)?

There are so many things we appreciate about BILL Spend & Expense - 1) being able to have multiple credit card numbers for our different online accounts. This saves us a ton of time and makes our online fraud exposure less of a worry. 2) having physical cards for my staff is great 3) being able to add a card to our iPhones to tap and pay makes payments a breeze 4) the app is very simple our phones and makes it easy for my staff to post their receipts immediately. 5) customer support has been very helpful when we have issues 6) our accountant has been able to integrate into QBO for easy reconciliation. 7) we use Bill Spend & Expense daily and it has been super simple to implement into our systems. Saves us hours and hours of time dealing with employee reimbursements!!! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)?

That they changed the name to BILL Spend & Expense - it is too long and will forever be known as Divvy in my office - but really, we are very happy with the services. Something simple that would be helpful would be allowing the Chart of Accounts in QuickBooks to auto-update so we do not manually have to add categories to the program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy) solving and how is that benefiting you?

It has solved needing to have employees use personal credit cards and for our accounting team to have to collect hundreds of paper receipts!! Huge time saver.

FYI - your 2 questions on the About You did not allow a search, so I wrote "do not know" but yes we switched from Aplos & the Pex Card and we currently integrate with QuickBooks Online. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Jenn J of BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)

Our gratitude for your amazing review of BILL Spend & Expense! We are so glad that you enjoy the different facets of our software like being able to have multiple cards for different online accounts, having an option for physical cards, the option to add your card to your phone to tap and pay, that the mobile app being easy to use to upload receipts right away, that our support has helped when needed, being able to sync with QBO for easy reconciliation and that it was super simple to implement into your systems. We appreciate your suggestion of allowing the Chart of Accounts in QBO to auto-update to save time and passed that on to our team. What do you like best about BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)?

We have used this to replace having one office credit card. I like that staff are responsible for their own receipts and coding so that they are more aware of the financials for their departments. I also like that department supervisors and managers can have access to review and approve purchases so that they have full visibility of spending in their departments. The app has been very easy to train staff on and we haven't had any issues with usability. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)?

I wish there was a way to turn the "budget" feature off. When an employee uses their card and gets a notification, I don't need it to say 'you have $99.487 left in your budget' because really they don't, that's just our card limit and I'm worried it could be misleading to some. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy) solving and how is that benefiting you?

We had an office credit card that could be checked out and then all receipts fell to one administrative assistant to scan and record for accounting. Lost receipts were hard to track down and receipts for unlear items were hard to record correctly. This gives staff ownership and responsibility over their own recording and receipt tracking. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about BILL AP/AR?

Easy to post AP. Separation of duties - one person enters another approves. Robust and detailed reporting. Reports easy to generate. No need to do check runs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about BILL AP/AR?

Deleting void payments. Deleting uncleared payments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is BILL AP/AR solving and how is that benefiting you?

As a non-profit providing rental assistance and paying monthly rents to various landlords, once the landlord is set up, paying the monthly rents is just a matter of entering the proper rent and submitting for payment. No need to do large check runs on special printers. No need to mail out rent payments if landlord not on eft. Easy to set up landlord either as a check or eft. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Thank you for your phenomenal review of BILL! What do you like best about BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)?

This has been an influential and efficient way to track our team's credit card spending. Applying backup and coding it to the correct accounts is easy. The software easily syncs with our accounting system, QuickBooks. Employees can also request work-related expenses for reimbursement via the Bill (Divvy) system, keeping all employee spending in one place. I'm not tech savvy, so I did have outside IT help set up the systems to sync. Our company uses Bill daily. When I encounter an issue, I can contact customer Support and get the help I need. They have been quick to respond. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)?

I am not a fan of the fact that we still cannot sync the reimbursement to our accounting software. This creates extra time to enter the information manually. I would also like to be able to run more reports via Bill software. I think that tool would be very beneficial to any company. Also, it would be helpful if an account has been compromised with several transactions that could be disputed as a lump rather than one at a time. This can be cumbersome if there are several. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy) solving and how is that benefiting you?

It makes it easy for employees to submit expenses and reimbursement with backup and can keep it all in one place. Keeps us form doing tons of data entry with it's sync process to Quickbooks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about BILL AP/AR?

Bill.com is easy to use for small businesses and easy to implement and the have tutorials to view that instruct the user how to use the platform. The AI technology is okay as long as you don't require breaking out line items on an invoice to multiple Chart of Account codes. It provides a flexible approval process that meets auditable internal controls that Quickbooks does not provide. It allows the full chart of accounts and class codes to be imported for use in coding the bills. It syncs both the information from the coding and places a copy of the invoice with the transaction into QuickBooks. It allows accountant access without charging for a user. Bill.com sets up a personalized email address that you can share with vendors so they can send their bills directly to Bill.com (which I normally don't advise my clients to do because it marries you to Bill.com and it would take a large effort to recontact all the vendors to give them a new address if the business ever outgrew Bill.com). Bill.com has a huge vendor network making vendor payment setup a breeze. One only needs to verify the address and invite the vendor to accept payments through Bill.com (which is a big plus for vendors because once the invite is accepted they will know in real-time when the bill has been approved, paid, and sent out). Overall, Bill.com provides functionality that Quickbooks doesn't. It allows the auditors during an audit to access their sample testing without having to pull hard copy backups which saves time. Despite its downfalls, it has more pros than cons, and it fits the bill when partnered with Quickbooks. I have recommended this product to many clients and it has made their processing easier, but it has its pitfalls. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about BILL AP/AR?

Bill.com's syncing or ease of integration is poor. If any attachment (bill or email) is anything but a PDF it will not sync to Quickbooks nor does bill.com give you any insight into which transaction that hasn't synced. The only way you can find out most times is by calling or chatting with customer service which is always a lengthy process because they outsource Customer Support Chat overseas. I also find that Customer support has to talk to the developers with every question you bring to them because they don't understand how the software works. A simple why is this happening or why didn't it sync could take a half hour for an answer.

You can't print a bill to a PDF or email a bill out of bill.com (you only have the option to download it while in the inbox).

Bill.com charges by user which can be very costly for a small business that has multiple department heads who have a frequency of use of 2-3 times a year. In essence, clients are paying for an infrequent user every month even if they haven't logged in because no bill has come in for their approval. For my clients, I would prefer an approval fee (similar to how they bill for each payment) or an active login fee per month.

Bill.com has no way of canceling a check that has already been drafted without incurring a hefty stop payment fee even if you still have the check in hand (or a check was returned to you). You have to wait 91 days for the check to expire before the money will be redeposited into your bank account which is difficult for small businesses.

The platform allows a one-page remittance to be attached to a check that is issued, However, the one-page document is reduced to a small image on the check stub which barely makes it productive. Allowing a full-page remittance to be sent with a check, even at a small cost per page, would be worth it.

Bill.com lacks some low-hanging fruit processes which could be easily incorporated into the software but I've not seen development adopt any suggested changes over the two years I've used the system. Communication and transparency on syncing are inferior and time-consuming, but if it is an approval process you are seeking when using Quickbooks this is the only option out there that will sync with Quickbooks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is BILL AP/AR solving and how is that benefiting you?

What problems ARE Bill AP/AR solving? Quickbooks does not have approval processes which are required by auditors and are part of Management's assurance on Internal Controls. Bill.com electronically posts the approval and date time stamps each approval to satisfy the Internal Control requirements. Using the actual bill to pull information from using AI is a time saver and it is nice when the bill actually syncs correctly with Quickbooks that no data entry or uploads are required on the Quickbooks side. No other software without development software does this with Quickbooks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Jenn J of BILL AP/AR

Thank you for your valuable feedback on BILL, Christel! We are glad that you find our software easy to use/implement for SMBs, that you enjoy our flexible approval process, that it allows for the full Chart of Accounts/class codes to be imported over to use with coding bills and that it syncs both the information from coding as well as a copy of the invoice with the transaction into QuickBooks. Also that it allows your accountant access without being charged for another user, that BILL provides a personalized email address to send to vendors to receive bills and that it saves time for auditors during an audit by accessing their sample testing without having to pull the hard copy. Our apologies that you found syncing/ease of integration to be poor, that only PDFs will sync to QuickBooks with no alert when it does not and delays when contacting support to get issue resolved. Also that your not able to print a bill to PDF or email a bill out of BILL, that it charges by the user not a flat active login fee or approval fee, that you have to pay to cancel a check or wait the ninety days for it to expire to get your money back, that only one page is sent with check with too small of print to be of use and the communication/transparency is inferior/time-consuming with sync. We have passed along all of this to our product team to look into further. Please continue to provide feedback as we are always working hard to improve our software.

What do you like best about BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)?

The customer service team is great, the platform is very easy to use. We had no issues implementing the cards across the business. It's exceptionally easy to manage cards for all employees and track spending. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)?

Would love more integrations with different platforms, and make it slightly easier to pull data into different sources for further analysis. But this is not a deal breaker at all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy) solving and how is that benefiting you?

The product been a game-changer for me in managing our spend and expenses. It makes it so much easier to keep track of budgets and spending in real-time, which means I’m always aware of where our money is going. I can quickly spot areas where we’re spending too much or too little and make adjustments on the fly, which is incredibly helpful. The automated expense tracking and simplified approval process also save me a ton of time, cutting down on the manual work and reducing the chance for errors. This tool gives me the flexibility to manage budgets dynamically, so I feel more in control and can make smarter financial decisions. Overall, it has made managing our finances less stressful and much more efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)?

I feel that the desktop version of Bill is easy to use. The app is equally great. It's been a lifesaver to have our employees access the app on the go. Receipts are able to be uploaded then and there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy)?

I am not sure if this is a downside just yet since we are just now moving to Bill Spend and Expense. We currently use PO's for some charges and there isn't a way to link a PO number. We have been using our Notes section. Then again I am still getting the hang of Bill so maybe there is a way and I just haven't found it yet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is BILL Spend & Expense (Formerly Divvy) solving and how is that benefiting you?

We used to have only a few cards that we would check out before we moved to Bill. The big issue was keeping up with who made what charge. There wasn't a paper trail when employees saved the card while making purchases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Thank you for your five-star review of BILL Spend & Expense!
