- Quick startup and integration once licenses are purchased (under 20 minutes from receiving licenses to having our first collaborators and parts in our system)
- Native Solidworks support, support for a variety of different file types outside of .sldprt and .sldasm
- Easy profile (Lib Feat Part) organization through Design Library, which allows for consistent profiles across different projects. Design library has also allowed us to reduce the variety of hardware on our vehicles as the organization and access to this is easier than ever.
- Seamless user permissions control - allows for various access levels and pre-made profiles for general users.
- Folder templates keep consistent descriptions, cost, supplier, and check-out staus easy top-down organization.
- The check-out system and revision tracking are intuitive and easy for admins to control.
- Great video resources and troubleshooting resources. Even when problems aren't solved with these (very rare, they cover most bases) customer support is very available. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- Transition between web browser and desktop app can be a little clunky at times. Some features available in the web browser are not always available in the desktop version (deleting files, forcing check-outs for other users, etc...). Easy enough to work around once you "get" the software and understand how it works (very small learning curve).
- It would be great if descriptions for Design Library parts could be in Solidworks. Figuring out the difference between parts without description usually has us going back and forth between Bild and Solidworks, which sometimes slows us down.
- BOM Management is not available with student licenses in 2.44.0. Otherwise, software is completely the same between professional and student.
- If you as an admin have a part checked out, you cannot delete your part from Bild without checking it in first. Very minor complaint (and I can see why you wouldn't want to delete checked-out parts) but it seems like you should be able to do this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Bild makes it very easy to keep track of changes in CAD files, which is especially useful for avoiding - or being able to revert - mistakes that lead to CAD assemblies breaking. In our case, we maintain a large assembly for our Fornax rocket, which benefits greatly from the Bild system. Thanks to Bild, we have been able to fix many of the mate and reference faults that had manifested due to the previous CAD management system we used. The customer support is top notch - big thanks to Yeimy who has helped DanSTAR with everything from acquiring Bild to specific usage related questions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Bild's check-in and check-out system with respect to large assembly files can sometimes be confusing, as it can sometimes neglect to check out certain files that are needed to save a checked-out assembly properly. More specifically this happened when Bild's automatic system didn't recognise that a certain sub-assembly of a large assembly file needed to be checked out along with all the other parts/sub-assemblies in that assembly file, which meant that it couldn't be saved, as the certain sub-assembly file was still read-only (checked in). Whether this was user error or not is unclear, but it was at the very least confusing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Bild was very clear and easy to use. Our members were able to get on the software quickly and was able to upload their files easily. Customer support is also very communicative as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Bild doesn't allow the an account to be used in multiple organizations, but is easily resolvable by using another email account. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Bild provides a variety of tools that have been extremely helpful to our team. For example, the 'Check-in/out' feature has been straightforward to use and has simplified issues that we had when it came to overriding others' work. Additionally, it was extremely easy to implement with our Computer Aided Design software, SOLIDWORKS. Bild has become a fundamental part of our team's design process whether it be for sharing or collaborating on work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
When it comes to the downsides of Bild, only one comes to mind, and although it is not an issue, I would greatly appreciate it if the web and desktop applications were made more consistent with one another. An example of this is that contrary to the downloaded application, the web version of Bild allows for the display of uploaded parts without having to download them. Otherwise Bild has been amazing to our team and has helped us in ways that we cannot count. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Very nice desktop UI organizes files and folders according to the file manager, checkout and version control are beneficial for making sure files are worked on without conflicts and mistakes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Had many issues with syncing Bild, files wouldn't be updated or wouldn't upload properly, and bugs occurred with the app making repeat folders of project files that need to be deleted to access files, should make it so that if files get deleted admins can recover them instead of waiting for support to do file recovery. I love how easy it is to set up on a computer and the cloud storage aspect of it. My team previously used Solidworks PDM before switching to Bild and the licensing setup and installation on personal computers was so easy. Also because all the storage is on the cloud with Bild, it removed the need for networking skills on our team to set up and maintain servers which is great because it's a hard skill for us to come by. Over all it's been a great experience using Bild and they provided us access to a great service in a time where we desperately needed a PDM, so I'm very greatful to them! Bild occasionally has some growing pains as it's a newer company, but issues and bugs have slowly been resolving over time. One of the biggest annoyances I have with Bild is sometimes it can be buggy to download or pull the latest version, and it also doesn't automatically move the revision forward when you are checking in a file which makes the version tracking less effective Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Bild is by far the best replacement for GrabCad that we have found. We are a team of mechanical and electrical engineers from across the country working on a complex design in Solidworks. We make use of several Solidworks Add-Ins to support the design of our electrical subsystem. Bild allows us to perform part checkin and checkout functions, and works well with a variety of file types that are needed to support these Solidworks Add-Ins. We have found the user interface to be very user-friendly, and allows us to collaborate very easily while maintaining revision history. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As a team, we do not have any complaints about Bild. We have found it to be very reliable, and would recommend it to other users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ease of implementation from services like Grabcad Workbench. When Workbench shut down our team was at a loss as to what service to use. Thankfully Bild was there to restore most of the features, with a seamless transition. Our team was able to integrate into the software with little to no issue, which is great considering that most of the team is made up of people who have never used file revision software before. This is our primary method of revision tracking for our team and with our frequency of use, it has held up well. I appreciate the customer support working with us and our particular situation, to make our transition as easy as possible. The built-in 3D model viewer and annotation features have been a hit throughout our team. Overall, I believe Bild is constantly improving and making useful changes throughout our time using the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I would say that the UI on the desktop app could use a bit more polish. Our team does make use of part numbers but in the file name, I wish there was a way to better sort these files within the UI. Ideally, an automatic sync option would be awesome for our newer users who sometimes forget this aspect. Better integration with the file explorer and different CAD software would be a stretch goal of mine. With the constant improvements we have seen in our time using the software, I believe that these goals can be achieved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
CAD version control is essential for large teams. Bild has excellent organizational tools and is the best cloud-based CAD version control for education that I am aware of. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The software can be difficult to use and our team has encountered several bugs and difficulties. The desktop app doesn't have all of the features the web app does, such as the ability to revert to previous file versions or reorganize files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Bild is a great place to store files. Their 3D viewer makes it very convenient to get a high-level understanding of a model. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The integration between local drive and Bild is often difficult. It is also difficult to "Pack and Go" an assembly like you would in Solidworks, the alternative being to download all the files in a directory (very space inneficient). I would love to see a feature where you can only download files for a specific assembly and easily delete these files locally after you have pushed your changes.
