## Betterment at Work Reviews
  ### 1. Excellent Customer Experience!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

Betterment provides an excellent user interface to execute all administrative needs with ease. Our Account Manager, Alexa, is exceptional. She is always quick to respond, most often with an immediate resolution, and very courteous and professional. Betterment is integrated well within our HRIS, and we appreciate the reporting features.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

The dashboard is very helpful but sometimes labeling of certain features/reports can be confusing and repetitive, and we need to seek support for issues that usually should and could be handled ourselves.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing an easy to use tool for our employees who are not fully aware of how to best invest for your futures.

  ### 2. Excellent Customer Service

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Velinda H. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

Lexii and Nazim have always been incredibly responsive and helpful. They are patient with any confusion or questions that arise. The Betterment portals offer a lot of tips, training and clarity for navigating and adjusting withholdings & investments as an employee.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

On the employer end, the upload process is manually done vs connected with Quickbook. The template provided is somewhat helpful, but having to do calculations and uploads has too much opportunity for error. It should be aligned with & connected to company payroll within major platforms (ie Quickbook).

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They make it easy for my employees to manage their own Investment Portfolios.

  ### 3. Streamlined 401k Management with Stellar Onboarding

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark P.

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

I appreciate Betterment at Work's ADP payroll integration, which is very smooth and efficient, streamlining the 401k payroll process for me. The website is intuitive and easy to navigate, making the setup and management straightforward. Their onboarding team is incredibly helpful, guiding me through decision-making in a complex system. I'm also impressed by the competitive price point for the services offered, which adds to the overall value.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

I was not satisfied with the tier service I initially selected. I realized that I do not need the 529 plan and that the middle tier did not bring significant additional value. The lower tier would likely have provided similar customer service, which would have met my needs.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Betterment at Work to automate 401k payroll integration, saving me time and ensuring seamless contributions and withdrawals without manual intervention.

  ### 4. 401K Provider with Great Customer Service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Danielle F. | Executive Administrator and HR Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

The best thing about working with Betterment, as a company administrator, is having a dedicated account representative available to assist us. Our account rep is fantastic! She is knowlegeable and always there to help where she can.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

Until now, I would have mentioned the lack of automation between our payroll provider and Betterment, but that has been resolved, and there is no longer anything that I dislike about working with Betterment!

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Betterment at Work provides a high quality 401K product for our employees, and makes this a very simple administrative interaction for the HR professionals working with our payroll.

  ### 5. Online Tools Make Processes Effortless

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thomas P. | CFO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

Ease of online tools, clear and clean presentation of information

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

Forms are very difficult for employees to find, and what should always be an online/fillable form turns out to be something that has to be printed, signed, scanned and then returned. Very inefficient.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping our employees plan for retirement when it wasn't previously available.

  ### 6. A Better way to manager 401k

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rob P. | Accounting Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

Betterment at Work provides peace of mind when it comes to compliance management. The seamless integration between Betterment and our payroll servicer has simplified the employee transition process. Providing ease and reliability when an employee is on/offboarded, moves to a different state, or needs to make enrollment changes.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

Qualms are limited with Betterment. Having a self guided system is important, but viewing quarterly/annual filings can be a bit convoluted. A sorted report folder by type would help elevate any struggles.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing seamless employee management and helps remove the burden of manual adjustments and reporting surrounding the company's 401k.

  ### 7. Employee and Employer Friendly 401k Provider

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Catherine W. | Team Lead, Total Rewards & Payroll, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

Betterment is easy to use as an employee and an employer.

It seamlessly integrates with our payroll, automating payroll reporting, contribution deposits, election changes, loan paybacks, new hires being added to the plan etc. Requests for disbursements are made easy. Annual reporting is as easy as it can be as well. Customer service experiences have been good as well.

As an employee I really like the experience as well and even moved all my personal retirement and investments over to them due to the user friendly UX and support.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

Can't think of anything to be honest, they are great to work with

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed a 401k provider for my company with fair prices, strong investment portfolios, and incorporated automation in all aspects. Betterment has met all my expectations with an. easy to use system

  ### 8. Betterment at Work review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

The site itself is fairly easy to navigate

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

We struggled with support in the early stages of our investment. We sought help in solving a major issue and weren't given the consistent help we needed. We were even "ghosted" at one point without someone immediately picking up the pieces and moving things forward for us. We had a meeting scheduled with Betterment and our payroll provider to solve an issue and the individual we had been working with never showed and stopped communicating to anyone. No explanation was ever given - as in, "__________ resigned yesterday. We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience this caused but ___________ is now on top of things and will help you moving forward."

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Betterment has been helpful in assisting us with errors made on our end

  ### 9. Nice UI, clear fees, but a few integration gaps remain.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kristof N. | IT Operations Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

I remember last year we started using Betterment at Work to replace a patchwork retirement setup across our US subsidiaries. Our goal was to stop manual uploads, reduce eligibility mistakes and give folks a modern and mobile first way to manage contributions. Betterment ticketed most of those boxes and it handled Form 5500 prep and annual testing without us chasing spreadsheets which was honestly the main win for my team. Below are some features that stoodout:
* 350 + payroll integrations and true bi-directional syncing where available, which cuts down errors and rework.
* Auto enrollment and auto escalation held participation without a campaign every quarter.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

Onboarding went smoothly but we did hit a couple wrinkles. One US unit uses Paycom and there wasn't direct integration. So we had to set up a workaround until we consolidated payroll which meant some manual checks for that group. It'd help if the integration catalog surfaced "360 vs 180" clearly per provider so we know exactly where write back will work.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

From a productivity angle the biggest gain is during quarter end and year end. Compliance tasks and 5500 prep show up packaged and on time. HR is happier too because eligibility tracking and auto enrollment reduced the back and forth with manager and new hires. For employees participation nudges and auto escalation do the quiet work in the background. W only jump in when someone asks about plan details which is rarer now.

  ### 10. Simple, safe, effective

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

I've long been a proponent of the fact that the number 1 downside of every 401k I've ever head is that the expenses wipe out most of your earnings. Betterment solves that by sticking with low-cost ETFs and not piling lots of fees on top of it for management that you don't actually need. When I started my company, I knew I was going with Betterment and it couldn't have gone easier to get set up.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

They don't integrate directly with my payroll provider so I have to manually upload a spreadsheet every pay period. Though that's honestly as much a statement of how Trinet destroyed Zenefits as it is a review of Betterment.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's ensuring my employees have access to great investments without being charged fees to wipe out their earnings.

  ### 11. Employees finally grasp their financial path, thanks to Betterment at Work's guidance

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jessica R. | People Analytics Manager, Food & Beverages, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 28, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

The aspect that I like the most is that Betterment at Work considerably supports our recruitment messages. One immediate, customizable financial planning advantage that is a complete departure beyond a 401k match to resonate with candidates is. It also simplifies the process to get benefit information during the onboarding process and new employees can easily understand about their financial journey with valuable tips.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

A small complaint is there are no deeper white label options; we would like to completely brand the employee interface. Also other more senior employees with multi faceted portfolio docket occasionally desire increasingly sophisticated, personalized advising on asset-focused investment techniques.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A small complaint is there are no deeper white label options; we would like to completely brand the employee interface. Also other more senior employees with multi-faceted portfolio docket occasionally desire increasingly sophisticated, personalized advising on asset-focused investment techniques.

  ### 12. User-Friendly but Lacking Advanced 401(k) Options

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

I've been using Betterment for managing my retirement investments, and overall, the platform impresses with its intuitive design and ease of use. The dashboard is clean and straightforward, making it a great choice for those who are new to investing or prefer a streamlined experience.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

However, for more sophisticated 401(k) investors, the available options can feel somewhat limiting. The platform doesn't offer the advanced portfolio customization or the in-depth strategies that seasoned investors might be looking for. If you value simplicity and an accessible interface over complex investment features, Betterment is a solid choice. But if you're an experienced investor seeking nuanced control over your 401(k), you might find the options a bit too basic.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing 401k benefit option for our employees, including easy option to meet safe harbor compliance requirements.

  ### 13. Betterment Makes Managing My 401(k) Simple and Stress-Free

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ximena R. | Human Resources Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

I really enjoy working with Betterment for our 401(k) plan. The portal is very user-friendly, and it’s easy to access my information anytime. The customer service team is responsive and helpful—I always feel supported. They’ve answered many of my questions quickly, and I never have to wait long for a response. Overall, it’s a great option, and I’m very happy with the service!

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

So far anything. I believe Betterment has everything I need so far.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a company, Betterment at Work helps us with employee retention by offering competitive benefits that support long-term financial wellness. It allows us to provide a modern, user-friendly 401(k) solution that makes retirement planning easy and accessible for employees at all levels. The platform simplifies administration and compliance, saving our HR team time and reducing errors.

  ### 14. Betterment at Work is polished all around and super easy to use!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tabatha D. | Human Resource Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

The fact that saving is automatic and effortless. It gives me peace of mind knowing how accurate betterment is. Customer support is very helpful whenever I run into questions.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

Like all investments, balances can fluctuate. Employees close to retirement age sometimes worry about downturns and I'm not able to ease their minds much with betterment.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I think how betterment at work helps us as a business is by offering employees so many benefits along with their betterment accounts. It boosts employee satisfaction knowing they have access to see their own retirement benefits.

  ### 15. Betterment is very easy to navigate.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rebeca T. | People & Culture Generalist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

Betterment was able to help transition our 401k into their system flawlessly and smoothly. Our rep was there 24/7 with whatever questions we had no matter how many times we asked them She was patient, kind and knowledgeable and that reflected in our onboarding and our working relationship.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

An area of improvement would be to have more seminars for staff to learn the system better.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Employees can now make elections into their 401k and it allows it to be between them and betterment. I love that there isnt a middleman involved.

  ### 16. Helpful service representatives, runs smoothly payroll-to-payroll

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

It works smoothly, especially with the integration with Gusto. We are able to provide a great benefit to our staff and they can get the support they need by reaching out to Betterment directly. And any issues that came up we were able to solve easily.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

It feels like employees still just don't realize that we (the company) don't control their 401k or deductions, so maybe Betterment can work more on making contact with employees to communicate what they do (beyond signing up for account access maybe a scheduled 15 min call to talk it all over? Then the staff members will have a stronger impression at the start)

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using Betterment to manage our 401k through our payroll provider offloads hours of administrative work each week.

  ### 17. Betterment for Work Review – Empire Portfolio Group

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mitch B. | SVP of Business Operations, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

At Empire Portfolio Group, we’ve been using Betterment for Work as our 401(k) provider, and the experience has been outstanding. As a company with a large number of young employees, we were looking for a retirement solution that was intuitive, low-cost, and built for long-term success. Betterment has delivered on all fronts.

One of the biggest advantages of Betterment is its ease of use and automation. Our team members appreciate the seamless onboarding, goal-based investing tools, and the ability to “set it and forget it” while knowing their money is being invested wisely. The platform’s emphasis on low-cost, diversified index funds aligns perfectly with our company’s commitment to financial wellness and smart investing.

The fees are transparent and minimal, which is a big win for our employees who are just starting to build their retirement savings. Betterment’s modern user interface, financial education resources, and personalized advice make it approachable for those who may be new to investing.

On the administrative side, Betterment has been simple and efficient to manage. Their customer service is responsive, and the integration with our payroll system makes everything from contributions to compliance seamless.

Overall, Betterment for Work has been a great fit for Empire Portfolio Group. It’s a solution that truly supports our team’s long-term financial health, and we’d highly recommend it to other companies looking for a modern, employee-first 401(k) option.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

It does not integrate directly with Paycom.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Low-cost 401(k) for our company of 500+ employees.

  ### 18. Basic features work well, but receiving detailed support can be challenging.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jacob I. | Vice President of Operations, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

The low fee structure and accessibility for users are what attracted us to Betterment originally, these continue to be strong points. Users report that information is easy to understand and generally there have not been problems on the employee side.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

Customer support has been a struggle. Frequently initial inquiries are linked back to general articles on the website that are not helpful. We had a problem with our annual compilation and our initial support staff was totally incapable of handing the issue. They gave us 3 different answers that conflicted- at one point telling us we didn't even need to complete the compilation. It wasn't until I inquired about closing our account that we were elevated to a staff that seemed capable of addressing the issue. Once this person took over a solution was quickly implemented, but the answer was so different from what the initial agent said that we are left wondering what kind of training support receives.
We had a similar issue happen with a staff that was incorrectly made eligible for benefits. Support was able to confirm that the employee's profile was set up correctly. And agreed that the eligibility had occurred in error, but the customer service technician said they had no information on how this could have happened and would follow up with the tech team. We never heard back.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Betterment helped us increase participation in our retirement benefit. We attribute this largely to the ease and usability of the platform. Most of our staff work at or below the Median wage and don't typically see themselves as the people to have financial instruments. Betterment's user friendly approach is great for this demographic.

  ### 19. Betterment makes this busy professional/business owner look like an HR expert

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julie B. | CPA/CEO/Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

Seamless integration with payroll software

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

Investment options can be hard to navigate

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're a small CPA firm and we all wear a lot of hats. Betterment allows me as a busy owner handling all payroll & HR functions to worry less about our 401k administration function due to automated processes, communications & payroll integration. The employees participating are happy with their 401ks and rarely (e.g. never so far!) reach out to me with any problems they found with the adminisitration. Keeping the employees content makes my life so much easier!

  ### 20. Low overhead and simple

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brody G. | Owner/CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

We set up a 401K with Betterment in 2024 for my 12 employee office. The process had support, a surprising amount of flexibility, and best of all very low overhead fees. I could also pass those nominal fees off to staff to discourage inactivity. I pay roughly 2k/yr to run everything, and their fund fees are also the lowest I could find.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

Phone help can be hit or miss. Typically initial concerns are replied to with automated responses.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They provide a low-overhead yet flexible 401K option for my teams.

  ### 21. Enjoyable Low Touch Service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mackenzie S. | Co-Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 01, 2024

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

As an administrator I have enjoyed the ease of use of the platform and the service needed. As a user I have loved the APP expereince and the diveristy of options with in the app. By having the company 401K , our employees now have ease access to other products that could assist them in growing wealth.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

So far I have not found any issues in working with Betterment

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ease of use with the platform and service has saved us time and money from our previous 401K solutions.

  ### 22. Excellent payroll management tool without the hassle

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ingmar C. | HR Operations Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

The first thing I liked was the seamless setup, as new employees contribution changes are automatically synced. This is great because it eliminates the headaches of spreadsheets and computer errors that used to cause.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

The user interface could be a little better to make it more intuitive, thats all.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Its really been a huge help because Betterment at Work is practically the upgrade our HR team needed, saving us hours of training, reducing compliance errors, and making the 401(k) an attractive benefit again.

  ### 23. Betterment Takes the Stress Out of 401(k) Admin

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Security and Investigations | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

As an HR department of one, having strong support is so important. Betterment's customer service is consistently responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful.

The platform itself is very user friendly for employees, which cuts down on questions and confusion. But knowing I have a reliable support team behind me makes a huge difference.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

I've been very happy with our experience with Betterment and really can't say that I've run into any issues and had complaints in the 8 years we've used the platform. I've noticed over the last couple of years they are marketing the learning resources they provide, and I would love to see more educational tools for users.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Betterment helps us offer a competitive benefit to our employees without creating a heavy lift for us administratively.

  ### 24. Efficient and User-Friendly Payroll System, but Support Could Be Faster

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Laurent M. | Payroll Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 14, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

I appreciate how clean the system is, and I find it especially helpful that the data flow in our payroll system eliminates duplicate entries. This significantly reduces errors, which is a real relief at the end of the month. The platform is also very easy to use. These are the main reasons I liked using Betterment.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

So far I can say that support for specific questions takes a little longer to scalate to an expert.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It simplifies the administration of our financial services and meets our needs for transparency and ease of use. Its exactly what I expected and does and excellent job of making payroll more secure and efficient.

  ### 25. Betterment is great for Small Business with limited HR

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christopher F. | U.S. HR Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

The team at Betterment is very supportive when it comes to managing a 401k plan. They have great resources available to guide a less experienced company fiduciary. They also integrate with my payroll provider which makes the plan extremely user friendly from all sides.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

I haven't really come across anything that I think is a negative with Betterment.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Betterment helps us as a small business provide a valuable benefit for our employees. Their 401k management is easy to navigate for both company officials and participants.

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

Here at Faherty, we love Betterment at Work! The platform is super easy to use and makes navigating the system seamless for both our team and employees. Their customer support is always responsive and helpful, which makes the experience even better. It’s been a great tool for us!

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

Honestly, so far in my experience there has been no issues with using Betterment!

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking our employees’ 401(k) through Betterment at Work is simple and straightforward, which saves us valuable time. The platform gives us clear visibility into contributions and participation, so we can easily support our team’s retirement planning without confusion. This ease of tracking not only streamlines our internal processes but also reassures our employees that their benefits are being managed reliably.

  ### 27. Easy & user friendly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kimberly K. | Executive Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

The most helpful part of betterment at work is how user friendly the website is. I’ve trained multiple employees on how to use the admin side and it is always extremely easy. If there ever is a question, the betterment team is pretty quick to reply and help.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

I do wish there was an instant chat box for help questions

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A 401 k is a great benefit we can offer our employee. Being a small business, betterment made the start up process seamless!

  ### 28. Easy to use but some of the "bonus" features are not as built out

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

It is very clean and sleek and the integration with payroll is seamless. It is self explanatory and very easy to use.The communications are a nice touch and ensure that each person is well aware of the contributions.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

There is a lot more work that needs to be done with 529 plans. Not every state is available for direct connection to payroll and the ones that are seem to have higher processing fees.

Adding beneficiaries is not a requirement of enrollment and as such this data point is often overlooked and requires additional support behind it.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The user experience for every employee enrolled is transparent and easy to understand. The education tools for our users is also an amazing resource.

  ### 29. Betterment works well!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hannah N. | Human Resources Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

I have really enjoyed how easy it has been to use betterment at work, compared to some other 401K websites this one has been easy to use. It has clear instructions that anyone can follow. It allows you to update and change things without any issues.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

The downside of betterment is that it doesn't integrate with all payroll companies (but it does sound like it is moving towards full integration).

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Betterment is working with our payroll company to move towards integration :)

  ### 30. Employer friendly, employee friendly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alisha M. | Administrator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

I love how user friendly it is from and employee standpoint. If I am unsure how to do something, it is very easy to email support for help. Our employees love betterment because they can view everything in an app. They like how much control they have over their investments.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

Not all functions can be performed in the app.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problems we have most often is employees needing to move or withdraw funds. I can email support and get help quickly.

  ### 31. Extremely straightforward

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sedona V. | Sr. Manager, Finance & Operations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

I find that using Betterment to support our organization has been completely intuitive and simple. It integrates with our HRIS (Gusto) seamlessly and I never have to think about if new employees are setup for success or not; they just are.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

Nothing comes to mind. I haven't noticed anything about Betterment at Work that has been challenging so far.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Betterment to manage our 401K offering for our employees, as well as manage our employer match across all employees on an annual basis. The fact that I don't have to manage those calculations myself, and that our employees don't have to fumble around trying to understand their 401k is a huge benefit to our organization.

  ### 32. Easy Setup, Competitive Pricing, and Great Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amelia L. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

I really appreciate how user-friendly Betterment at Work is, making it accessible for both employers and employees. The integration with our payroll HRIS system is seamless, and their support team is top-notch. I value the ease of setup with notifications and guidance throughout the process. Also, they are competitive in pricing compared to other platforms. I find their employee outreach and pre-made templates particularly useful.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

nothing

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Betterment at Work integrates seamlessly with our payroll HRIS system, is user-friendly for both employer and employee, and offers exceptional support. It simplifies employee outreach with templates, making the platform highly competitive and easy to use.

  ### 33. I would highly recommend Betterment to anyone looking to start a 401k plan for their company.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh M. | CFO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

The people i worked with to onboard and set up the plan were extremely easy to work with and made the process as smooth as could be. Anytime i contact customer support i get a detailed answer within 24 hours. The price was also much cheaper than competitors.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

Nothing comes to mind. They are cheaper than the competition and also provide every service we needed.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To provide our employees with a cheap yet user friendly retirement product.

  ### 34. We are very satisfied with the service, ease of use, and plan performance.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mining & Metals | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

Betterment At Work is performing so much better than our previous provider. The website is easy to use. Having the website send employees an enrollment invitation via email and allowing them to self-enroll has saved HR a lot of time. Our assigned Success Manager is very knowledgeable and helpful. The plan's investment offerings are diverse and are performing well.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

While there are many reports available, I can't always get what I need in one report. Often times I have to run several reports in order to get the specific data that I am needing.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The employee's self-enrollment and management of their own account saves HR Department's time. The resources on the website are helpful.

  ### 35. Great investment choices and user interface; easy to set up; seamless integration with payroll

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tom K. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

1. Great menu of investment choices with low expense ratios for employees.

2. Nice clean user interface.

3. Provides multiple options for investment planning based to match the sophistication of the employee (i.e., can be more or less detailed). Turnkey for novice users. More detailed for sophisticated users.

4. It was easy to integrate with our payroll platform (Rippling and then Gusto)

5. Streamlines the annual compliance and reporting processes for the plan administrator.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

To my knowledge, it does not offer easy download or integration with with personal finance software such as Quicken.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Very reasonably priced offering for us as a small business.
2. Investment options are much better than other plans I interacted with while working at larger companies. Ultimately this is better financially for our employees.
3. Consumer friendly user interface helps with rate of employee participation.

  ### 36. Flexible 401k provider, though cost can become high with larger plans

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Market Research | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

It's overall a great product and can largely be automated once set up. We have it connected to our payroll, and it automatically enrolls new team members, sets up their accounts, and takes care of all the payroll processing. All very smooth.
For employees, they have an excellent selection of low-cost ETF. The predefined portfolios can be adjusted manually, if desired. App for the employees is also great, and they can user other services like IRA or Roth, incl. more complex features like backdoor Roth conversions
Customer support is responsive and helpful.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

The annual testing and getting the fidelity bond still require some manual work (even though only once a year). The only other downside is cost as the percentage fee of the managed amounts grows steadily as employees contribute. I wish there were tiers of decreased fees for higher balances.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We set up our 401k about 7 years ago, and the main benefit is that it is largely automated and provides peace of mind that we are compliant with all the complex regulations.

  ### 37. Good option for small business

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

The various options and features my staff has access to when it comes to financial planning for themselves. It's an easy to use platform, implementing and integrating with other platforms for my staff was simple, and I login multiple times a week.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

Response time through Support is slow. Would like it to be much faster of a response time.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's providing me a 401k option to my staff, while also educating them on financial planning best practices.

  ### 38. It's been a great experience!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospitality | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

Their website is very user-friendly, which is great since we have so many employees and multiple entities. I also appreciate they have webinars every quarter to help you stay up to date on what's happening with employees' investments.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

Honestly I don't have an answer for this! Though I will say I'm not our office's most primary user, and we're new to Betterment this year. But so far, so good from my experience. I do with it integrated with our payroll software, but I think that's more an issue with our payroll company than with Betterment.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us easily manage and track everyone's 401k. I love that it's so easy to use!

  ### 39. Happy Customer!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Larry D. | President & CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2024

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

Simple to setup and manage on a bi-weekly basis. Wished it fully integrated with all the major payroll vendors but we've moved to Paychex and it is great now. Also, as a participant, I am very happy with the simplicity of reporting, the cash account, ability to move money around, etc.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

Nothing more than the issue with not integrating with my old payroll vendor.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

First time providng 401K in our small business was simplified by Betterment

  ### 40. Betterment for Small Buisness 401K

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David H. | Sales Representative, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

The set up was very easy. Betterment had a great on boarding team that was helpful, knowledgeable and listened to my concerns and questions and answered all of them. I also like the dashboard and ease of adjusting investment portfolio.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

I honestly don't have any negative feedback.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I wanted to offer a 401K to my employees but I was intimidated by the process. Betterment made it all very easy and addressed all of my concerns.

  ### 41. Betterment

What I appreciate most about Monica is her commitment to customer satisfaction. She is always responsive, proactive, and solution-focused, going above and beyond to ensure that my needs are met. Her positive attitude and friendly demeanor make her a joy to work with, and I feel confident that I can always count on him to help me resolve any issues that may arise.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

Investing options/portfolio's could use some attention

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I believe that new features for investing are being looked at

  ### 42. Betterment at Work went above and beyond- thrilled we made the switch!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consulting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

The implementation was seamless, with clear timelines and easy setup. The Betterment team stood out for being responsive, professional, and genuinely helpful throughout the process. They even went above and beyond by working directly with our HRIS company to ensure proper integration, which gave us extra confidence that everything would run smoothly. The platform itself is intuitive, user-friendly, and makes management far simpler while adding transparency. Overall, the transition felt smooth, well-supported, and exceeded our expectations.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

So far, we don’t have any real dislikes. Like any new system, there’s a short learning curve, but Betterment’s support team made it easy to navigate.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Betterment at Work is helping us simplify and modernize our retirement benefit offering. Previously, plan management felt cumbersome and required a lot of manual coordination. With Betterment, the process is streamlined — from onboarding to payroll integration — saving both time and administrative effort. Their coordination with our HRIS system ensured everything runs seamlessly behind the scenes, which reduces errors and keeps our team focused on strategic priorities instead of troubleshooting.

For employees, the platform provides an easy-to-use, transparent way to manage their retirement benefits, which increases engagement and confidence. Overall, it has improved efficiency for HR, reduced administrative headaches, and delivered a better experience for our team.

  ### 43. Great for Stress-Free Saving

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tirzah S. | Human Resources Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

I like how easy it is to use and that everything’s in one place. It makes saving and investing feel simple and stress-free.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

Sometimes the options feel a little limited, and I wish there were more ways to customize investments.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It takes the confusion out of investing and saving for retirement. Everything’s set up in a way that makes it easy to stay on track without having to manage all the details myself.

  ### 44. I finally found a great retirement plan with the lowest fees.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

I like that Betterment leverages technology to manage the plan. It integrates easily with our pay program, and the site is simple and easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

My only complaint would be the way we set up the initial rollout of betterment with our employees. We opted in employees to maximize participation which upset some of the employees.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We finally got almost all the employees saving. Before I took over the company, they did not have a 401K plan. I was told that they tried to do it before and no one participated. We are at 1 year and I couldn't be happier with the participation rate and the employees are happy.

  ### 45. Betterment 401K provider

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2025

Their platform is intuitive, and their support team is responsive, ensuring a smooth transition. Overall, a great experience so far!

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

So far, I haven’t encountered any issues. The onboarding process was smooth, and everything has been working well.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Betterment at Work has provided a much-needed improvement over my previous provider, where I faced issues like errors and poor customer support. With Betterment, the process has been smooth, accurate, and professionally handled. Their efficient onboarding, intuitive platform, and responsive support have made managing my 401(k) effortless and stress-free.

  ### 46. New(ish) Betterment user

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jodi A. | Director of Growth and Development, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

Customer service is fairly effective and helpful, but the turnaround time to get a response could be a bit faster, I believe. I like the ease of use for Betterment for our staff.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

Customer service response time can be a bit long, but they are far more helpful than our previous 401(k) company.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not sure it is solving anything for us other than a better overall product than our last provider had.

  ### 47. Great Experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Keely D. | HR Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

Betterment links with our HR system, Rippling. It has allowed for super simple onboarding. There is almost no manual work required.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

We haven't had much trouble at all. It's been a great experience.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ease of use was very important to us when choosing our 401k provider. This was the first 401k provider we've used as a company, and they delivered on the promise of being easy to use.

  ### 48. Betterment has been easy to onboard and use for employee retirement benefits administration

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

I'm having a hard time thinking of anything to complain about.

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Betterment is helping me contribute to my employees' retirement savings, which allows me to offer a competitive benefit to my team. It also makes retirement savings and investing for beginners rather simple to take on for our entire team, which was a huge plus.

  ### 49. Simplified and affordable

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott S. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

I love the online platform betterment offers to manage my 401k. What is better is they have a great platform for personal investments so I can have everything in one place. Despite a management fee it is less than any group I have used before!

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

I haven’t really anything to complain about

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It gives the employees easy options as they generally hesitate to invest because of con complexity of investments.

  ### 50. Easy to set up, effortless to manage

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Hardware | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Betterment at Work?**

I appreciate how easy it was to get all of the information I needed to make a decision on which platform to use. Ultimately this offered flexibility and integrated with our payroll software Gusto, making it a good fit for our small business to be able to offer our team a super valuable benefit.

**What do you dislike about Betterment at Work?**

there’s nothing that sticks out as a negative about betterment

**What problems is Betterment at Work solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it is our platform for offering a 401(k) to our team. as the HR admin on our team, but also leading about three or four other teams at the same time, this makes offer in this valuable benefit, pretty effortless on my part.
