What do you like best about Beanstalk?

Good pricing for our team, and the built in deployments along with the bells & whistles related to deployments. Setting up a new repository is pretty straight forward, managing access for our team and the occasional vendor or client who needs code access is easy as well. You get what you'd expect from a remote git repository service plus all of Beanstalk's features on top of that, at a decent price. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Beanstalk?

The web interface could use some updates, we have a hard time finding old comments (those icons are small and don't stand out too much) and the code review system is clunky at times. It's not so bad once you get used to it but finding things when you're not already familiar with it can be a challenge for new team members or anyone else we bring into it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Beanstalk:

If you need an all-in-one repository host, code review platform and code deployment system, check out Beanstalk. The web interface is a bit rough around the edges but the functionality it provides and support from Wildbit make up for it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Beanstalk solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use Beanstalk for remote git repository hosting, code reviews, and code deployments. We continue to use it as we try to continually improve and refine our collaborations and internal processes. it has helped us to become a more cohesive development team as we implement more code reviews and come up with specific protocols for taking code changes from staging to production. What do you like best about Beanstalk?

The best thing about Beanstalk is that is it provides a web based platform with user friendly UI interface, where we can work collaboratively among our team members and do everything with coding such as working with version control system like Git and SVN, reviewing codes and providing feedbacks along with deploying the codes frequently. It can be easily implemented and can be used from anywhere with just internet connectivity. It also provides enterprise level security over our codes stored in the cloud. Also, it can be integerated with other project management tools, CI/CD applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Beanstalk?

Though Beanstalk is quite scalable but it does not provides same level of scalibility that other cloud based service like AWS or Azure provides. As it relies heavily over internet to use it, hence it can hinder its usage if someone is at low internet area. Also, the customer support provided by Beanstalk depends on subscription plan so it can be insufficient sometimes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Beanstalk solving and how is that benefiting you?

Beanstalk basically provides Version Contro Hosting over cloud which can be used by its users to work together with their team seamlessly. It is benefitting me for working with my codes from anywhere Also, we can use the platform for code review, feedbacks over the code which is quite useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Beanstalk?

I love their simple, yet advanced, online GUI for deploying code to your websites or web applications.

They have a simple, roll-back option (valid for those new to git and learning)

Share repos to different teams and manages who has access to what Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Beanstalk?

I wish their free trial included more.

A little expensive given all the git tools and services available now.

They would benefit from also having their own simple-to-use app for download instead of browser only. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Beanstalk solving and how is that benefiting you?

Many people in the office are less technical but qualified enough to make website edits on their site, this is where beanstalkapp really shines compared to the others. I love the feature to send to multiple locations (great for sites located elsewhere). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Beanstalk?

I have tried various different ways of implementing version controlling systems to automate the deployments. The best about Beanstalk is we don't need to worry about the infrastructure and setting up the server for SVN ourselves. everything is available from source management, reviews to deployment as a service with a fair pricing structure. Also, the ability to do peer code reviews and collaboration brings more value. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Beanstalk?

In terms of features, there is nothing to complain about, But it would be great if we have a better UI, because now it seems to be so cluttered and difficult to track things. especially while reviewing it's difficult to keep track of conversations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Beanstalk:

I always recommend Beanstalk for any development team for better version control management using SVN. Especially in the automation and accelerated development environments, Beanstalk shines. Also, when it comes to low-code autogenerated sources SVN is easier to resolve conflicts, In that aspect, Beanstalk adds more value to version controlling of such technologies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Beanstalk solving and how is that benefiting you?

I have been working with multiple low-code development and automation which works with SVN. So, Beanstalk has been my primary tool for the VCS so far. It helps me and my team to be more agile in the development. Beanstalk helps us to focus more on development rather than spending a lot of time on SVN server maintenance. Also, it makes our deployment automation very easier. At the same time, Beanstalk helps us to maintain our reviews and feedbacks streamlined in the same place which saves a lot of time for us. What do you like best about Beanstalk?

The UI is a breeze to use and the simplicity of the system is first in its class. For anyone managing deployments to their client's websites, whether it's on a regular basis, or not, to a staging server or a production server, Beanstalk makes it easy to do this. From settings up multiple servers per deployment environment to setting up those environments either from scratch or duplicating from any other project in your account makes the setup speed super quick for any user. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Beanstalk?

There isn't much to dislike about Beanstalk, but if I had to be super picky, it would be that it doesn't have built in pipelines for doing package builds (NPM, Composer, etc) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Beanstalk:

If you are deploying websites and online apps, then Beanstalk is definitely a good way to go. It's quick to set up and get your first project deploying in a matter of minutes. If you're questioning how to easily deploy your projects, then this is the best way to start Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Beanstalk solving and how is that benefiting you?

The biggest problem being solved with Beanstalk is having iterative deployments of websites and projects with only deploying the files that need deploying based on VCS commits. This makes deployments reliable and easy to do Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Beanstalk?

It’s pretty easy to set up credentials and start pushing and pulling code. It’s also useful having code review links you can share with other developers. It’s also pretty easy to make and store feature branches. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Beanstalk?

It seems to have less features then other platforms (such as GitLab and Amazon code), But in our case that wasn’t a problem, since we weren’t using those other features anyway. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Beanstalk solving and how is that benefiting you?

At my last company, we used Beanstalk to provide code hosting (Git-based which pushed elsewhere to deploy to production) and code review. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Beanstalk?

Beanstalk is great for basic git/svn version control, which integrates with all the apps and tools you already use. Their deploy bot service is rolled in too, so trigging code deployments fire on a merge to a branch is seamless. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Beanstalk?

The one thing I would really want Beanstalk to improve is their code review feature. I'm glad they have it, but it's fairly basic and cumbersome for teams to use. GitHub's reviewing is vastly superior. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Beanstalk:

If you intend to use the code review system, try it before building your team workflows on it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Beanstalk solving and how is that benefiting you?

Version control and code deployments. We've benefited greatly form their reliability and easy to configure, robust deployment and integration capabilities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Beanstalk?

I like how thorough you can be with seeing each individual effected file and how many commits behind an environment is. It makes it really easy to prevent disasters and there’s many safety nets along the way to check yourself over before deploying. We have a small team so this makes it easy to stay on top of every commit. We’re looking to tie this into the ZenDesk ticketing system soon Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Beanstalk?

There are no features I can think of that stand out as immediate cons. Beanstalk gets the job done for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Beanstalk:

This is a very robust and intuitive tool. You will not be disappointed Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Beanstalk solving and how is that benefiting you?

We do all our deployments through Beanstalk. We’ve just realized it can tie into ZenDesk so we’re looking to link it to an internal ticket system for assigning tasks and linking them to commits once completed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Beanstalk?

This is the best code repository solution when working with SVN that I have found. For web development, using Beanstalk has provided the most painless and straight forward experience I've found for auto-deploying your commits to a web server, or even multiple web servers.

User access control and management is a breeze. Marking commits for code review and the ability to tag them with descriptors informs the members of the team what to be looking for while reviewing it which certainly can save some time.

The pricing is good for teams of 20 or more that need 20 or more repositories. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Beanstalk?

First off, the UI is pretty ugly in my opinion. And not just in as far as aesthetics but the organization of the information is a bit poor in my opinion.

There is no built-in issue tracking which forces teams to use a 3rd party solutions.

The pricing is bad for anything less than team of 20. Only one free private repo, with 100MB limit, and only one user makes some of it's competitors ahead of the game. I use the free account for one personal project site simply for the beauty of it's auto-deploy capabilities. For me, that is it's one saving grace and really the only reason I still use it for anything instead of other options. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Beanstalk:

If you need built-in issue tracking, you won't find it here. But, if you have a team of 20 or more and need 20 or more repositories, the pricing is pretty good... The way it handles deployments is so straight forward and combined with another product from the same vendor, Deploybot it's even better. If those things are appetizing and you don't mind using a 3rd party issue tracker to stack on top, then this may be a pretty good match for you. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Beanstalk solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use it mainly as for a single version control repository that auto-deploys to my server after code review and commit approval. The deployment configuration features have saved a lot of time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
