There is no Windows version, so if you do work in a Windows environment instead of Mac, there is no comparable tool. There is no iOS version so the ability to work with BBEdit tools while mobile can be a real drag. There are some workarounds but still. I like the intuitive interface! There is a lot of functionality that I did not use, but what I used was excellent! The tool gave me the ability to edit huge files, the search and sort functionality was excellent, and the file do not crush on me any single time! Even smaller files crush Excel from time to time, but this is not a problem with BBEdit. Unfortunately, the corrupt pattern was not repeatable and I needed to do everything line by line.

I had to work with huge data files from FDA. The files contained chunks of bad data, and BBEdit gave me an opportunity to load and process them manually (millions of lines!) It also provided the ability to compare files and output clean-up results in the needed format. The results were very clean, and I was able to save them without computer crushing.
