The Spear phishing protection parts of this alone has reduced the amount of time spent tackling email by drastic amounts and I use this every day. Use and administration is easy and the ability to gain information to further investigate the email is great. Support calls to Barracuda are always quickly answered, and has been great. We used support services for integration and it was aq uick and easy implementation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish the account takeover parts had better information, however I understand that this is also at the mercy of Microsoft and 365 so it's still much better than what we had previously. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Barracuda Impersonation Protection has been a great purchase for our university. Previously, our faculty and staff were getting many spoofed emails..........and many of them appearing to come from C level executives, including President and CFO. Even though we mandate training, we still wanted a backup protection.
Since implementing IP, the overwhelming majority of these spoofs get caught and the end user never sees them, other than an email notifaction that Barracuda had intercepted a rouge email. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There haven't been a lot of downsides to the platform............other than we have had several false positives. It is a platform that you want to keep a regular check on. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- It appears to prevent a good deal of unwanted email from reaching our end users.
- It removes the emails from user inboxes after identifying them as fraudulent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- It is named "Impersonation Protection," but as far as I understand it, it also blocks general phishing attempts and scams as well. The name of the service leads one to the inference that it is more limited in scope than it actually is.
- Also, with "Impersonation Protection" in mind, I want to note that it has in times past allowed fraudulent emails through which displayed our president's name, but was from a gmail address or other email domain that was not our own. I would have expected it to do better than that given that it should be able to see the names of people in our company and compare those to emails that pretend to be from people of the same name. I will say that this specific issue has not presented itself particularly recently, so it may have improved over time.
- It does miss some emails that I really feel it ought to be capable of remediating. Things like some fake docusign emails or emails with "attachments" that are really just a picture of an attached file in the email. I think some of these are just using images to get around spam filtering which is an old and well-known technique in my mind.
- I also tend to feel like some of the emails that it blocks should be getting filtered out by the "regular" Barracuda filtering and shouldn't need to be remediated by the Impersonation Protection service specifically. I can't be objective about it however. I just think some of the scam emails for example, should be detectable by the regualr spam filtering.
- The process for reporting missed emails is fine, but I feel like those should be going to an email address that reflects the current product name, rather than the old "Sentinel" name.
- I feel like there ought to be logs available which would show every email that Impersonation Protection has reviewed. I can only see which ones have been remediated.
- It seems like many of the emails that get categorized as "impersonation" are really just spam, scam, or general phishing; not impersonation specifically. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We have been using Barracuda Impersonation for 6 months, and the at-a-glance visibility it gives us into the state of our user's accounts is invaluable. Already it has stopped several account take over attempts, by alerting us when an account was being accessed from outside the country or when rules were being created for an account. The easy to use step-by-step account review has helped us verify nothing malicious has gone out of our user's accounts, and clamp down immediately when an alert goes off.
We were able to set it up in 15 minutes and were up and running checking all our user's connectivity for the past month on the same day. Connecting it to M365 was a breeze, and it uses robust connection APIs. We use this every day.
Barracuda support has always been just a phone call away, and they always have answers to all our communication questions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It would be fantastic if it played a larger role within the M365 ecosystem. Micorosft has a larger ID Threat Protection platform, but it's cumbersome and difficult to get going, and requires advanced licensing.
Barracuda gives us some of that functionality, but additional reporting like device compliance, or additional user Identity metrics would be extremely helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It definitely works. It's dead simple to set up and another layer of protection that reduces the number of scams reaching inboxes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are a lot of false positives. I'm not entirely convinced of its usefulness Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's a powerful tool for any team, there are a lot features that we were able to leverage. I love the integration of all the products, it provides peace of mind and insight. It's the best solution for large companies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It would be very help´ful if all reporting configuration was under a single interface, their admin system was a bit complicated to understand. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As a school district we were receiving many impersonation emails a month. users could not tell the difference sometimes. After we signed up for barracuda Impersonation Protection it pretty much stopped. Once and a while an email gets through but it's not a very good impersonation and users can tell the difference. There is not anything dislike about it. I really like barracuda products. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

it really drills down to which emails are being impersonated , where they are from , what email domain its coming from. It has a easy to use interface and it was very easy to implement. Customer support is outstanding for any issues we had. It easily integrates with our microsoft 365 enviroment and LDAP. We use very much often. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Alerts and intelligence. I also find that the information we see is not the same as customer support. it would be nice to see what they see as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love the ability to search for similar messages, especially if an email has been incorrectly delivered I can see all affected users for my record and then take the appropriate action. The support team for this product always does a great job when I have an issue on following up and making sure my needs have been met. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish we could configure our domains in the message log instead of alphabetized to a custom order, quality of life item is all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is a decent high level security dashboard. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Tons of false positives massively over-weighting the sending address e.g. gmail, icloud, outlook.com are almost impossible to get delivered because they have a rep score of 0. We have had repeated issues where customers would email nothing more than a screenshot of our app or a photo of an invoice, as requested by agents, and they would be blocked/moved to Junk because of impersonation protection's "extremely high confidence" of phishing when in fact there is no real way to phish this way. Being able to view and remediate emails at a higher level that may otherwise be delivered to the end user is a stellar feature. I like the highlighting of potential issues in an email body, domain information (such as when a domain was registered), email flagging based on spam or conversation hijacking. We log into Impersonation Protection multiple times a day to review incoming emails. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are times that emails get flagged that shouldn't. While remediation is easy, it seems that the learning is still a bit off. Where it is not preferred to whitelist any particular sender or domain, we do see from time to time the same emails getting flagged and marked as junk. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
