What do you like best about Barley?

Barley is the simplest, most intuitive compensation management tool I have ever seen or worked with. It is flexible and really easy to integrate with our HRIS system (we use BambooHR). What do you like best about Barley?

I love how Barley saves me time and ensures accuracy during comp reviewm, really streamlining the process. The user experience is intuitive, requiring less training for our stakeholders, and pulls information that is scattered across multiple sources to consolidate into 1 source of truth. It is extremely configurable to meet our specific needs and customer support has been second to none (providing user training, hosting collaborative working sessions, responsive and flexible to customization requests, etc.). There are always new feature developments being released to continuously evolve and improve the product and, by extension, the user experience. Comp reviews typically involve many manual tasks including sourcing information from multiple sources and coordinating with various stakeholders, but these manual tasks are automated in Barley which saves our team time and provides piece of mind that it is managed accurately. The reduction in manual administration that often burdens our team allows us to focus more time and energy on strategic initiatives. What do you like best about Barley?

I have been working with the Barley team for over a year and can confidently say that the team and platform has played a pivotol role in the creation and implemenation of our organization's compensation strategy and internal processes. Our organization is accross Canada and the US and has a complex mix of Salary and Hourly employees. Barley has allowed us to strategically plan and manage the comp accross these employee groups, with ease.

We just completed our first Pay Review Cycle in Barley; the process was smooth and the team was extremely responsive throughout the process to support us with any questions. Our Executive team was able to go in and plan properly for their functions with limited support as the platform was extremely user friendly and pulled all the relevant data to one place.

I also love that Barley integrates with our HRIS (Hibob), which makes it extremely easy for our Talent Acquisition and HR Team to go in and review internal equity and individuals total comp on a regular basis to ensure our Comp strategy remains in integrity. What do you dislike about Barley?

After a year of using Barley, I still can't think of any negatives here. Further, any barriers that have been identified, the team is quick to jump in and solve for.

Barley is solving for what was traditionally a very manual process: reviewing Pay Bands for internal equity, promotions and new hires, systematically organization our data based on our compensation philosophy, auditing our data for pay equity live and on going, hosting our Pay Review, Promotion and Bonus payout process; inclusive of generating letters! What do you like best about Barley?

Barley is intuitive and easy to use! The implementation process went smoothly and the Barley team guided us throughout the entire process. The software itself has supported our compensation strategy through pay band management, comp reviews and ensuring we are providing equity to all our employees as we grow.

We have been able to streamline our compensation review process for our entire team, including HR, Finance and the Executive team. The time savings is the real game changer here - what would have taken us weeks only took a couple days to complete the entire review cycle. The analytics is data provided to make the right compensation decisions is so profoundly appreciated. Our executives, HR and TA team use the platform regularly to gauge pay for merit, promotions and market adjustments to ensure we are being equitable across all teams and individuals.

In terms of user experience, the platform is intuitive and easy to use. The UI is beautiful and you can quickly move from employee to employee with ease. Jafar and his team were amazing, explaining best practices for our HR team and ensuring that they provided the Executive team with proper training during onboarding. Again, it's intuitive so you don't need hand holding to use the platform but if we do have questions or suggestions for new features, the Barley team is very hands-on and responsive. Couldn't ask for a better partnership with a vendor!

We are using Barley to manage our HQ (salaried employees) and our Retail (hourly employees) as we continue to grow and open more Knix stores across North America. I'm glad we implemented Barley now versus when we are huge!

What do you like best about Barley?

- Barley's UI is beautiful and simple.

- HRIS and ATS automatic integration so there is no need for many manual uploads.

- The whole Barley team is responsive and takes accountability for action requests, special shoutout to Janelle, Billy, Jafar, Josh & the whole Engineering team.

- The actual comp review process was very intuitive with built in guidelines and budgets that are set prior to launch.

- Visibility in regards to pay bands, pay equity, total rewards in our organization that provides us with invaluable context and analysis.

- Continuous improvements that Barley implements are mostly proactive versus reactive.

No major downsides to Barley. Some features such as equity grants, comp review changes after launch, etc. are not currently available but Barley is very serious about client feedback and are continuously improving the platform/actively incorporating these features. Before Barley, our compensation review process was more siloed, administrative, and done through spreadsheets. When Barley was implemented, our managers and executives loved being able to have more freedom and visibility in the comp review process. Having a tool that gives you guidelines, insights, and allows you to action comp recommendations really empowered our managers.

What do you like best about Barley?

- Implementation was a breeze.

- API integration so no manual upload for employee data. Integration with Lever to collect our own candidate expectation data is helpful for us to gather real time information.

- Intuitive interface, user friendly and managers find it very easy to navigate.

- Barley has both annual review feature and compensation management (market position, internal salary bands etc.) which is rare for the compensation softwares on the market. We have demos from more than 20 softwares on the market and Barley is the winner.

- Barley team has been very responsive and supportive, usually we can get a response for any question or request within two hours.

- Openess to improvement. We have raised many requests for new features to add into the platform before the launch of our 2024 cycle, they were all launched which made sure our cycle was successful.

- We used to do annual cycles in spreadsheets which can be messy with many versions. It was a great experience doing our 2024 cycle in Barley, it was very smooth from implementation to launching. No need to share spreadsheets to leaders and it was easy to see the change history with the audit trail.

Barley is supporting our pay transparency program, positively impacting all global employees. It also has helped automate our anual compensation program and saved our team an extensive anount of time that was previously spent on manual processes.

Barley allows everything to be completed online, from salary range visibility, to team comp review, salary increase budget alignment, recommendations and approvals. All are done online. What do you like best about Barley?

The user experience is crisp and intuitive, so admins and managers can confidently administer comp for their teams.

Configuring our comp bands and compensation cycles took much less time than other tools with a higher degree of confidence. Other tools require careful review of detailed documentation -- but Barley made configuration a breeze. The user interface and visualizations are always clear (and sometimes even delightful!)

What problems is Barley solving and how is that benefiting you?

Compensation is the largest cost for most businesses and is a key motivator for employee productivity and engagement. When compensation bands and data live buried in spreadsheets or older tools, they don't add much value, and at worst, can lead to top performers or groups being unfairly underpaid.

Barley brings compensation into the light -- demystifying it for managers and admins so that they can confidently make comp decisions that are in the best interest of the business. The pay equity visualizations were instantly useful, rather than spending hours on manual analyses in other tools. The high level view and analytics also helps keep finance, HR partners, and exec leaders on the same page.

Tactically, Barley helped us setup and maintain fair compensation bands and visualize company, team, and individual compensation. Barley quickly became our go-to tool for compensation management, included focal and off-cycle reviews. Barley is designed using the latest best practices, but also gives flexibility to users so that it can reflect the unique ways that each business approaches their total rewards. Some improvement is required in the flexibility changes to the budgets after the cycle has launched ( and additional sub-issues) .

It would be ideal to have the ability to make structural reporting changes directly in the system vs a new file upload ( more flexibility)
